Today his team, Juan and Adrian, came out to diagnose an issue with the air conditioner. They arrived on time, they were efficient, and they were friendly. They identified the problem, replaced the condenser pump and added one pound of refrigerant and the system is back up and running. They were so quick to respond when I reported the problem yesterday evening (coming out first thing this morning). They were good about wearing protective booties (without even being asked) when they came in the house, and they worked cleanly. I feel the charges were fair and reasonable. Retired tech inspected their original work and discovered they had installed the fan backwards--causing the system to overheat--and used a capacitor not meant for fan that was installed by accurate...Once he fixed their botched work, system is still working in 2026. Also, and what lead me to this post is they tried to persuade me into buying a brand-new unit by falsely claiming mine would fail within a year. Retired tech confirmed my actual unit is in good order and has many years of life left. Shoddy service and dishonest sales tactics...if I trusted this company, I would have paid $10-15K for a new unit last year, but only paid $200 for another tech to do the job right and who provided honesty with it...get second opinions, always!

We have a maintenance contract with Dial One Sonshine for our HVAC and water heater. They have…read morealways been good at calling for the regular maintenance and have been very thorough in their maintenance and noting any problems and letting us know. This time, inspecting the water heater (which is 11 years old), most things checked out as OK, but with their camera that goes into the tank, there was a lot of mineral deposits noted and those deposits are affecting the capacity and the ability to be effective. They said I should get a new water heater. It is still usable, but could go out anytime, and there could have problems in leaks. I was given the cost of replacing our heater. I had not planned on it, but in considering the likelihood of upcoming problems, decided to do so. They worked with me on the price, and it was installed the next day. The technicians who came out to check and do maintenance were James and Jesse. As I said, they were very thorough to check the heater, check the water flow throughout the house, and in their communications. I would have them come to my house again. The person who installed it was Allen and he installed it well, gave me all new needed attachments, and even after he was done, I asked him to do one more thing. Without hesitation he did that, which took another 20 minutes. He did everything right. I would have him come back if I needed something else installed. I am very pleased with Dial One Sunshine and with the people sent out to do their service calls and work. I recommend the company and those workers.

He turned it off and said he had to wait until it thawed. He cam back out the next day and said the unit they installed just 5 yrs ago obviously has a leak and could be diagnosed for leak, but that they suggest replacing the whole thing, cooler and heater for $18k!! Saying that even if diagnostics and repair of leak, there is no guarantee and may end up costing more. Another option, replace the cooling system only and not the heater, would be only $14k!! Upon further inquisition, and explaining, the unit they installed just 5 yrs ago is expected to last longer than 5 yrs, they tried explaining it's like a car, sometimes they last a long time and sometimes, they don't. But hello, they have lemon laws! They went on the further explain that they were under new ownership with new employees and all and that they had to replace the unit and at our cost, they would not keep warranty, saying that it was not under some California state regulations anymore. Then said they will talk with new owners and get back to us. We sent him on his way and got a second opinion first thing next day. With over 30 yrs experience, quickly identified the leak, and the problem was fixed in 10 minutes at a very minimal cost!! Turned on, working, blowing cold air! When the repair guy told me there was no warranty on the work because my AC was so old, I knew it was time to stop throwing money at it and replace the whole thing. I started calling around and getting quotes from several HVAC companies. Surprisingly, the pricing was all pretty similar. The big difference was the equipment. A lot of the companies were quoting brands I either hadn't heard of or didn't have much confidence in. Evolution was the only company I spoke with that was using American Standard and really stood behind the quality of the equipment they were installing. That ultimately made the decision for me. The entire process with Evolution was professional and easy. They showed up, got to work, and had the full installation completed in about 5 to 6 hours. I was expecting the house to be without AC most of the day, but they got everything done much faster than I expected. We've had the new system running and love it. The first thing we noticed was how QUIET it is. Our old condenser was so loud that you always knew when it kicked on. With the new one, I sometimes have to actually listen for it to make sure it's running. Replacing an entire AC system is not exactly something anyone gets excited about spending money on, but if I had to do it, I'm glad I went with Evolution.
