It's refreshing to find a company that values honesty and takes the time to properly diagnose the problem instead of immediately recommending the most expensive option. Very disappointed with my experience. The service call started off well, but quickly became uncomfortable. The technician told me that the part needed to repair my unit was not available from the manufacturer. I checked the manufacturer's website myself and found the part listed as available. I was also told the part would cost over $5,000, plus labor. However, the same part was listed on the manufacturer's website for around $1,500. I completely understand that HVAC companies need to mark up parts and make a profit, but more than tripling the price seems excessive. When I questioned the availability, I was told that because it was Saturday, they couldn't confirm anything. I was essentially told to pay the diagnostic fee, accept that I had a non-working unit, and that there wasn't a repair solution as they don't like the brand I have and did not want to quote the part or repair. I wish they kept their word and said the diagnostic fee would go to the repair cost. What bothered me most was that the conversation then shifted toward pressuring me to purchase an entirely new system. When a repair part appears to be available directly from the manufacturer, being told it isn't available and then being pushed toward a full system replacement does not inspire confidence. The appointment started off great, and I was hopeful they would be a company I could trust. Unfortunately, by the end of the visit, I felt very uncomfortable with the information and pricing I was given. I would strongly recommend getting a second opinion and independently checking part availability and pricing before agreeing to a major repair or full system replacement with this company. read more

Brian from JW Mitchell did a great job taking care of our issue, we actually had a different hvac company come in and couldn't figure out the issue and Brian came in and immediately knew what it was before even opening the panel based purely on the smell. He confirmed it and allowed me to confirm as well and explained how/why it could happen. He handled the warranty check with the ac manufacturer and picked up the free replacement part and handled all of that for me and fixed the issue. 1000% recommend. After turning on my heater for the first time in a while, my smoke alarm went off and I smelled smoke, which was understandably concerning. I called JW Mitchell and they were able to come out within a few hours, which I really appreciated. The technician was calm, thorough, and reassuring. He tested the system and confirmed that everything was functioning properly. He explained that some smell can be normal when a heater hasn't been used for a while, which immediately put me at ease. Before leaving, he did notice a very slight smell coming from the fan, but it was nowhere near what I experienced initially. He explained what to watch for going forward, so I'd know if it ever needed attention, which I really appreciated. I had JW Mitchell install my heat pump several years ago. I have had absolutely no issues with it and am extremely pleased with the purchase. It works great! I have also had them regularly service the heat pump in order to keep it in tip top shape. They are affordable and their customer service is amazing.
