This is lounge area , food hall and study space in one lol . You sit at the table and scan an de and the food hall menu from all the different restaurants pop up for them to bring it to your table . This orders come rather quick and the staff is very friendly. If you need a quick break and snacks the you are walking towards the Gold Coast this a nice gem to step in and have a drink and quick bite .

The matcha here is really good and doesn't give me a headache from being too strong ! I really love the light flavor and the service was very quick, however I don't like how drinks are provided without a top and set out to the public. Many people were coughing and I felt as if my drink could be contaminated due to this . I think any paying customer would appreciate a covered drink upon retrieval especially in a food hall where there are many customers, service pets and passerbyers for food safety. Nevertheless , The food hall is a well lit and a nice place to take a break from shopping.

Ate at small cheval in aster hall. IThis is a very good burger. It's not au cheval but it was so so good and for the price??? Definitely worth it. Au cheval is a bit pricey so it's nice to have an alternative.

As always, Aster Hall is incredible. I stopped for lunch after shopping with my family. They have never been so I wanted to show them. I love the upstairs but they wanted a more casual vibe. So we grabbed a table in front of the huge round window. The atmosphere is always bright fresh and inviting. It is always clean and comfortable. I love the large marble sinks to wash your hands before your meal. Our meals were all hot and delicious. The variety of options is endless. I will return soon.

I went with a group here and it was so nice to cater to everyone's varying food preferences! I opted for a salmon poké bowl from Aster Sushi. It was delicious! My only complaint is that I wanted sriracha and they wouldn't provide any despite having bottles of it in their kitchen. The food hall has digital screens to order from which made it super easy to see all of the food options. I wish there was a bar with the food to be able to enjoy a cocktail with your meal. It was located upstairs and we had children in our party, so it wasn't easy to go and eat in the bar area.

This was such a cool concept and it made it so easy with 5 of us that all wanted to eat something different. You order at a kiosk and you get a text from each place when your food is ready and your receipt tells you which window to go to. They had such a variety of options that everyone could easily find something they wanted. The sinks/soap in the dining area was very convenient but there wasn't paper towel left which left my hands soaked. I believe there was also a bar on the floor above us but we didn't realize that until after we ordered. The food was surprisingly good. The salad was massive and the rest of our dinners were the perfect size for the price. No one in our group complained about any of their choices, even our 3 year old loved the mac and cheese. We will definitely come back on our next Chicago visit. We just wish it was open later.

We were walking around enjoying the Christmas decorations and wanted to grab a quick bite to eat and had seen this food hall before but had never tried it. We walked around to get an idea of what we wanted before heading to a kiosk to order. Ordering is at the kiosks only and it seems you need a physical credit card as it wasn't taking Apple pay so I had to dig out a card. Beverages aren't available from any of the food establishments' sections on the touchscreen which is a little annoying; I learned later you have to place a second order with the chocolate shop to get a cup for fountain drinks. I didn't figure that out before closing out my order and leaving the kiosk, so figured I'd just grab a cup of water but they were out of water cups...and no humans to ask...long lines to get back on a kiosk and then my food was ready so ended up with no beverage. The food was good though! I enjoyed my falafel salad which was fresh and the falafel was crispy. The garlic sauce was a nice touch. Other options looked good as well; I definitely recommend checking out both sides of the food hall to see all the options. Seating is limited so be prepared to potentially walk to another area of the mall to sit and eat if you aren't doing takeout. Not a bad option if you're looking for a quick bite in the Michigan Avenue shopping area. I'd recommend bringing a water bottle from home to avoid the beverage challenges I encountered.

I came here with low expectation as people were recommending it more as a work-from-home spot rather for the food it offers. However, the food was very good an affordable!! The chicken shawarma pita bowl is absolutely delicious, I'd totally come back just for it!

You wouldn't expect much from a food court at a mall but Hogsalt (think Au Cheval, Galit, or Ciccio Mio) took this to the next level. The atmosphere harkens back to an earlier time in Chicago while the food is more modern. We ordered the Half Rotisserie Chicken from The Rotisserie and the Chicken Shawarma Hummus Bowl from Fresko. I would order both again. I don't know what they are feeding chickens nowadays but the Rotisserie Chicken was HUGE and succulent - all for $12.50. The sauce is also delicious as well, we had the honey mustard. The Chicken Shawarma Hummus Bowl was great too. The chicken was well seasoned and the hummus was creamy. I also appreciated the staff who was calling out order numbers and checking receipts. Last time we came he was able to restore order to the huge crowd gathered around Au Cheval. Also, there is a little sink with soap and paper towels where you can clean your hands after your meal which is a nice touch.

Great experience at Aster Hall for quick, quality bites. I enjoyed small Cheval burger and saw dishes from other stands as well that were tasty looking. The space is open and has multiple spaces to sit.

This place looks like a mall food court and an Apple Store had a love child. It's futuristic-looking, well-lit, and open. The ordering process is seamless. You can pick from many cuisines and can order multiple things to try on a giant tablet. Then you can get texts on your phone when your orders are ready, and it'll tell you which window to go to. There are also sinks and wet wipes to clean your hands without going to the bathroom. Tried a few things among my friends and I. Sushi was a bit dry but flavor was good. Highly recommend the mac and cheese from the pasta place, which was super rich and pure al dente perfection--great portion size and not bland at all. Cacio e pepe had a nice flavor and texture as well. The chicken shawarma bowl was a little salty but had a ton of yummy toppings like tabouleh and pickles. I am happy to have discovered this place--a true hidden gem! Will return to try even more soon.

Small cheval Signature Double Cheeseburger with Golden Fries
    Jocelyn B.

LOVED it so much here we came twice. I love au cheval so having a small cheval close to where we were staying was a game changer. The burger and fries were just as delicious as I remember. And ordering on the kiosks was so easy, you could do it for multiple places at one time which was so convenient and the ambiance is beautiful, the place was clean and all the employees were nice.

Au Cheval burger. The small one:)
    Gretchen D.

Still good. You can get an Au Cheval bigger without waiting in line at the original. Since it's an elevated food court, you have many choices. The place is clean with nice seating areas. Good spot for lunch if you are in the north end of Michigan Avenue

If you have seen any of my other reviews, I always get a meatball when I'm at a place that has them. They almost never live up to my expectation. But this place has the new gold standard for a meatball. It was everything you want. It is fork tender, full of flavor, no chewy ground up bits. The pizzas were authentic and thin. Every time I'm on that side of town, I try to make it a point to stop in. The customer service is always top-tier, but one of my favorite things about Il Porcellino is the ambiance. It just has that classic Chicago feel that makes the entire dining experience even better. And the drinks? So good! I highly recommend the Old Fashioned -- definitely one of my favorites. I always order the fettuccine Alfredo with shrimp. The first time I had it, the sauce was a little thicker, creamier, and richer, which I personally preferred. This visit, it was still very good, just a little lighter than I remembered. Either way, I enjoyed my meal and would absolutely order it again. Overall, another great experience. The reservation we got was for the patio, but when we arrived, they didn't have a table for us. We waited probably an extra 15 mins and then the lady was able to arrange an inside table for us. She had been getting a bit of lip from folks coming in just before us, and so she definitely seemed to be dishing out some lip herself. I think that should have been a better experience. I will acknowledge that we did appreciate a table inside eventually when the one just outside wasn't there. Our server once seated was like, amazing. To me she made up for the passive aggressive comments from before. She was so patient and well-spoken and all. Seemed like she was from a Michelin-star place. So to start, the Caesar salad was ok. What was nice in there, it had these crispy chips of some kind in the salad. Overall, the dressing could've been a bit more caesar-y. Then we also had these truffle oil mozzarella sticks and those were pretty amazing. Served with marinara sauce, which was pretty good. But the sticks themselves were like so cheesy and gooey and freshly made, it was great. Then for the mains, we had a vodka pasta and one other one. Both were vegetarian pasta options, which is great. Both had really nice flavored sauces and the pastas were also done right. I forgot to ask for crushed red pepper as some spice boost would've made things even better. Also, one of the pastas was a gluten free - and it was really good - in the sense that I never would've guessed that it was gf. It's a corn-based pasta, in case anyone wants to know. I really wish they had an eggplant parm, but unfortunately they had only chicken and veal parms, only. Lastly, and to top everything else off, we had a soft-serve almond-caramel (not the exact name) gelato. Wow, that was SO good. Nutty flavor and creamy rich. Probably the best course of the night. Just outstanding. I chose it based on ChatGPT recommendation and it was just spot ON. Definitely a place I'll come back to.

For dessert we had the citrus olive oil cake, and then they surprised us by gifting the table their soft serve. We absolutely did not need another bite of food at that point... and yet somehow that soft serve disappeared. It was amazing. And the service? Top notch. The fusilloni was definitely my favorite from the noodle shape to the sausage and cheese. The ricotta dumplings were suuuuuper cheesy which I really liked (though I could see why others wouldn't) and had a melt in your mouth softness. The fritto misto was ok, the breading tasted like it was old or had been sitting out. Not as crispy as we'd hope. To be honest felt like frozen calamari quality. The Alla Vita chopped was pretty standard, kinda reminded me of Olive Garden salad lol. The stars of the meal were the tagliatelle and cappelletti pasta. Both were super flavorful and pasta cooked well. The bone-in ribeye was a little on the sweeter side, definitely lacked a crust and salt. I'd pass on the steak IMO. Our biggest qualm was the timing of the dishes coming out. The pasta came out 30-35 minutes after the appetizer and salad which is fine, but the steak coming out 15 minutes after the pasta kinda ruined it. We'd love to eat the entrees (steak and pasta) together, and not finish our pasta first or let it go cold then eat steak alone.. ya know? We had ordered crispy potatoes but cancelled due to the wait. Ended the night with mango passion fruit sorbet with a prosecco float. Big mistake on the prosecco float haha it was so tarte and bitter, would def recommend trying the sorbet alone! Overall, glad we finally got to try this place. Focus more on the pastas and skip the steak. Very beautiful inside.
