Love this place ... another really good meal, although the mussels were just okay. Some decent size, plump, and juicy. Some tiny and taste was a bit off. Great artichokes. Calamari is best in town, fried, tasty, and a treat. The stuffed mushrooms are a must try dish. Tasty, large latte. Delicious vanilla gelato. Great venue, very cozy. We need to go more often. Friendly server. Thanks Nicole ...

The Good: The food and service was a great! With so many places trying to put a twist on "old fashioned" Italian cuisine, I was in heaven. Also, don't discount the stuffed mushrooms - they were amazing. The Not So Good: The ambiance was pleasant but the decor could probably use some updating. The Bad: My friend ordered the carbonara and it came out salty for her taste. Could have just been a one off moment in the food prep for the evening.

5 stars for being a neighborhood staple for decades. It's not often that a small local restaurant is able to last this long. 5 stars for almost always having availability. 5 stars for really good service. The food itself is above average Italian (maybe 4 stars imho), but the biggest rec I have is to always order the tiramisu here!

This could have been a WONDERFUL dinner...... however this evening was the night the 3rd worst storm in Austin history landed as we were literally walking to the restaurant Small neighborhood Italian restaurant lots of 50's like atmosphere without records, poodle skirts & juke box, more rat pack without the Frank, Dean & Sammy photos. We ordered and our food did come out quite quickly ~ I ordered fresh corn risotto arrived with beautiful slivers of pecorino cheese & a handful of arugula, really good definitely would order again. My hubs ordered the carbonara, which gets mentioned a lot as a restaurant favorite was exceptional, he orders it frequently so I take his word for it ~ Asti survived the storm, we all stayed dry however their fan exhaust on their roof didn't~ so they announced they would get all the orders out, then would be closing for the evening ~ I know they are open again so will definitely be back very soon

In the very established neighborhood of Hyde Park, Asti Trattotia feels like a very established restaurant filled with regular customers. The staff were friendly and efficient and the restaurant itself was intimate and cozy. We ordered a slew of dishes and decided to treat dinner family style in our group of three. We all ordered Capelletti spritzes which were delicious and refreshing. We then got the calamari and Caesar salad as appetizers. The calamari was tough and the breading tasted like old oil and the lettuce used for the Caesar salad wasn't as fresh as I would have liked it to be. For mains we got the margherita pizza, the lasagna rotolo, and the risotto. The pizza was good everall with soft crust and fresh topping, the risotto was good as well, but the lasagna was definitely not what we were expecting. It was a rolled lasagna with only one sheet of pasta and the rest was a dry and extremely salty bolognese. It was broiled or baked before serving, so the top of it was burnt and charred which was not very appetizing. Overall, the food was fine, but the quality does not justify the steep prices. We probably wouldn't make the drive to return.

I'm a sucker for carbonara and almost always order it when it's on the menu so when in Rome, er Austin, I had to give in. Glad I did. It was creamy, cheesy, had just the right amount of egg and it carried a lot guanciale fat and flavor from the big chunks of it strewn throughout. Quite good. Every table gets an order of fresh olive and butter focaccia too. Friendly service and very nice, cozy atmosphere.

Asti Trattoria is a fantastic spot for a date night, celebratory dinner, or just enjoying some delicious Italian food! The pricing is reasonable, the food was tasty and presented well, and the service was great overall. This was our first visit but we will definitely be back! My husband and I made reservations for 8:00 pm on a Saturday night and were seated right away. We noted on our OpenTable reservation that we were celebrating our wedding anniversary, but that wasn't acknowledged at all. FAST FACTS: *Parking - available on the front and side of the restaurant (additional parking in the Fresh Plus lot next door) *Reservations - available online through OpenTable (call the restaurant for parties of 5 or more) *Online ordering - available on their website for pickup through ToastTab *Patio - fully covered and heated *Closed on Mondays *Happy hour - Tuesday through Friday from 4:00 - 6:00 pm *Brunch - Sunday from 10:00 am - 3:00 pm SERVICE - Our server, Mitch, was great overall! He had a great personality and did a great job of recommending dishes. Our food came out quickly after ordering and was paced well throughout the meal. Toward the end, we were the only ones seated in the back section of the restaurant so there were a few times when we were waiting a while for refills on our drinks. PRICING - The total was $117.99 after tax ($8.99) but before tip for stuffed mushrooms ($14), salad special ($18), fig & prosciutto pizza ($17), two spaghetti carbonara ($21 each), side of fingerling potato salad ($6), and tiramisu ($12). I think the pricing was reasonable for the portion sizes and quality of ingredients. Complimentary focaccia bread is served to the table and you can ask for more if needed. It isn't warm but it's very fluffy and tastes great! STUFFED MUSHROOMS (9/10) - These were phenomenal! We got 7 mushroom caps so it made the perfect appetizer to split. The combination of ricotta, parmesan, and goat cheese was DELICIOUS! I'd order this again! SALAD SPECIAL (6/10) - We decided to try this since it was a special for the night... it had whipped ricotta, beets, seasonal greens tossed in a lemon vinaigrette, and was sprinkled with crushed pistachio. It was good but didn't blow us away because the flavors were all pretty muted. I did appreciate that they split it between two plates for us. I probably wouldn't order this again. FIG & PROSCIUTTO PIZZA (7/10) - The pizzas are a great option for an appetizer! The crust is super crispy and you can tell it's housemade... plus the pizza overall isn't greasy or oily. The taleggio and mozzarella cheeses were so flavorful and the prosciutto was cooked perfectly. I would have loved more fig preserves throughout the pizza to bring more sweetness and the watercress didn't add anything to the pizza. I'd definitely order a pizza again but might try a different flavor next time. SPAGHETTI CARBONARA (9/10) - This was the highlight of the meal! The portion size is perfect and the spaghetti noodles are housemade and on the thicker side which I loved. The sauce was delicious, had the perfect consistency, and the guanciale was so flavorful! The cracked black pepper on top was tasty but I could have used a little more salt (the bites with guanciale were great but bites without were lacking slightly). I'd order this again! FINGERLING POTATO SALAD (8/10) - I loved this side because it's very unique! I've never had fingerling potatoes in a potato salad but the texture was great! The server described the potato salad as being between a Texas potato salad and a German potato salad and I'd say that description was spot on. It's very creamy but has a slight sweetness to it. I'd order this again! CLASSIC TIRAMISU (8/10) - This was a different take on what I'd consider a "classic" tiramisu but I really enjoyed it! It leans more on the chocolate side than espresso... I would have loved a dusting of espresso powder on top or a stronger espresso flavor in the soaked ladyfingers. But, the candied almonds were very unique and worked well with the flavors! I'd order this again! I think Asti Trattoria is highly underrated when it comes to Italian restaurants in Austin! I'll definitely be back to try some other dishes and will recommend it to others!

Takeaways: literally wish I live in Austin so I could eat here again, incredible experience for both gf and non-gf people Food: 5 Gluten Free Options: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4 Cleanliness: 5 Restroom cleanliness: 5 Summary: I was here w my sister, I am gluten free and she is not. Both of us were SO happy with our experience. Service was attentive, welcoming, and helpful. We only ate a couple of things, but it was FIRE. She loved their crunchy bread sticks that were on the table (idk what they're called lol), and when they found out I was gluten free they brought me GF focaccia that had both my sister and I eating carbs like calories don't matter We both ordered the spaghetti carbonara and it was INCREDIBLE (we ate it too fast and forgot to take a picture). Her non-gf was delicious, and my gf noodles were sooooo good - not crumbly or overcooked. Everything is made in house except the gf noodles, the gf focaccia was in house too. Sauce was a 10/10. I saw someone else in a review complaining about small portions - I thought it was just right. We both finished our meals and weren't hungry after but we also weren't stuck to our chairs. The only reason I have a 4 for atmosphere was it was kind of quiet in there, but to be fair we were like the first party in there when they opened.

This restaurant was everything I could of asked for. Probably the best restaurant we tried in all of Austin. I'm from Los Angeles, and have been to many high end and hip restaurants, this was definitely up there with some of the best restaurants. Food: Crab tagliatelle is a must! This dish was delicious and everything you can ask for from a pasta. Gnocchi special with Peas and Asperagus is a must. This creamy and feather light dish was packed with so much flavour. Lobster scalloping was very good as well and so was the filet mignon. But best of all were the side of carrots, pear and endive salad and the Cho salad. My drink was the basil cocktail was was phenomenal. Everything was just so so very good. Our waitress Tiagna was an absolute delight in every way. Thank you so much!!!

I had a great view of everybody walking by the restaurant outside :) Our server was fantastic! He was super friendly and attentive. We arrived at 8:00 p.m. and left a little after 10:00 p.m. The food was delicious. My man absolutely loved his seafood pasta dish! He doesn't even eat pasta but he scraped that plate dry. I highly recommend ordering family style for the table but make sure your whole party is on board with splitting the check evenly because the restaurant does not break up the check according to diners only split evenly, I believe up to four ways. Example: Our check was $822 (included gratuities) for seven people and we were only able to split evenly four ways. Roughly $118 each. It is what it is but I didn't even get a main course. Just a glass of wine, a half of a piece of bruschetta, some of the Caesar salad and a small portion of the gnocchi (all shared) I'm glad I got to experience Red Ash, but now that I've checked that off my list, I'm good.

After giving our keys away we walked into what is a beautiful outside area at Juliet's. It's a nice mix of feeling like you're in downtown Austin but also not. We went inside to request two seats outside and this is unfortunately where everything fell apart. After being seated all the way at the very corner of the restaurant near the entrance, we didn't receive water for 15 minutes. In fact, we had to ask for water, as well as silverware, from a person who was cleaning a table- not a waiter. We didn't order until about 30 minutes after being seated. We noticed that others around us who were dressed nicer for the occasion were receiving service but we were not (jeans and a nice top as opposed to a dressy outfit). This is less of an accusation and more of an observation. It took another waiter noticing that we had not been served to come over and take our order, and that was 5 minutes after we had to flag down a busser to ask for water. The flip side of that whole first part is that the food was pretty good. We got complimentary table bread (after we asked for it since it never came before our main meal) that was soft and went well with the olive oil it came with. For our entrees we got the shrimp scampi and chicken parm. The shrimp scampi was fantastic and light with creamy and bold flavors in-between. The chicken parm was maybe the largest chicken cutlet we've seen given out at a restaurant. Not only was the cutlet massive but it was delicious as well with a nice, light breading and cheese on top. The spaghetti alongside it was a nice touch but this was a true chicken parm entree as it should be. We were offered a complimentary dessert as an apology for the miscues before we ate but turned it down (still good of them to offer). Leaving was easy as the valet was very attentive and quick to get our car. We wish we could say our time at Juliet's was perfect because the setting and food are very nice and a fun change of pace from the surrounding blocks. However, it's difficult to overlook the mistakes made from the jump. We noticed that another table next to us was also experiencing bad service and looked unhappy enough to leave in the middle of their meal/ We're always open to having good food again so hopefully the next time we're here things are different. Just an unfortunate bittersweet taste to what otherwise would have been a fantastic meal.

Sammie's has been hyped up on social media for a long time and I gotta say it's still underrated! I will gladly have Sammie's take the Pepsi challenge against red sauce joints in NYC/NJ etc. In fact, I've told friends and family that I am going to take them to Sammie's when they visit from there. We just had such a fantastic experience - everything..the vibe..the red light fixtures and the color of the booths and the floor..the service - our server was great..loved their outfits..really had an old school little italy feel to it. The food was much better than I even anticipated - as a guy who grew up on NJ diner mozzarella sticks, I have a high bar for them and these were magnificent. And seriously...taking the "everything's bigger in Texas" slogan and applying them to mozzarella sticks?! top 10 achievements of the decade.
