    soft shell crab roll
    Keilab A.

An authentic Japanese restaurant located in the heart of Westwood. Asuka is on the pricier side for sushi, so be ready to splurge. I came here without reservations on a Friday evening and was sat immediately. The service was great and super friendly staff. I ordered the spicy tuna crispy rice, soft shell crab roll, blue crab and yellowtail scallion handrolls. The crispy rice was fantastic and definitely a must get. The handrolls were tasty and super fresh. The soft shell crab roll was on their special menu and I thought it was good, but not great. Overall, I would definitely recommend this spot to all you sushi lovers. Their omakase menu was enticing as well, and would be something I would get the next time I'm here.

I recommend this restaurant 100%. It has an excellent atmosphere, very professional and friendly service, and the food is amazing. It's the best sushi I've tried in Los Angeles, prepared by the best chefs. Everything I tried had an incredible flavor; you can taste the quality of what you're eating. ありがとう Asuka

Asuka means 7th century from what the owner/manager told me. When I walked in a very well dressed man(you don't see restaurant people in full suits and ties much anymore)seated me right away at what looked like the nicest table for me near the window. I read this is a top tier sushi restaurant here on Yelp and I was not disappointed. Everything was high level with a total bill I paid of over $140. I like they accept cash which believe it or not is no longer the case at many, especially woke restaurants these days. I had a delicious assortment of nigiri, my favorite was the monkfish liver, blue crab roll, grilled salmon(excellent sauce and plating)and roasted duck. The dessert was also interesting and different from the usual offerings elsewhere. Ambience and service was also excellent. Highly recommended.

This place is absolutely fantastic. I'm not the most important client in the world I'm very aware of that living in Los Angeles & being normal. However, the team and staff here make you feel like a celebrity. Moreover they make you feel like part of the family. There was more care and attention here than from my own Family. The host gave an account of the rich history of this space. The service staff refilled my green tea 7 times (I counted), and the chiefs watched when we finished one course to start the next. I'd 12/10 recommend. This is going to be my new go to stop for celebration dinners.

Unlike many sushi places that serve sub par quality fish, this place is definitely worth trying. The owner of the restaurant is always there wearing a suit with his hair neatly combed back, making sure everyone is enjoying their meal. This is the kind of restaurant I want to support. The ambiance is quiet but still busy and classy. Sitting at the bar was a fun experience. We ordered the $85 omakase, then added on whichever sushi we liked better. Quality was fresh and cuts were generous. Recommend their omakase if you are looking to splurge a little (but not $400 per person like some really high end places). We liked all the nigiris we were served but some were out of this world good.

Very nice restaurant. The owner was solicitous and took such good care of us. We had the omakase dinner, and it was fabulous. You know that each dish in omakase is specially prepared and you should not use additional sauce/spice. This was perfectly seasoned and a sensory delight. The little touches were terrific. The minute my tea was low it was refilled. Everyone was friendly and wanted to educate us on our dishes. The pace was leisurely and the food was great. 2 thumbs up. Try the wagyu.

What a great find near our Airbnb. Food was amazing. Service was top-notch. And I loved the umbrella ceiling. Perfect for date night or dinner with friends.

The spicy GOAM with crispy noodles as the base was great, definitely not as much of a spicy flavor as I thought, as it seemed the main source was pickled jalapeños tucked into the layers. I personally am not a fan of a concentrated spicy jalapeño bite so I ended up not getting much spice. However the rest of the pancake was very good! The loaded Kaisen was indeed piled high with seafood, but I thought the flavor was a bit light in the pancake itself. The seafood did seem fresh and tender though! The hamburg omurice was absolutely delicious. Something about their demiglace sauce here was special, I'm usually not a fan but this time I ate every drop! The steak was also tender and juicy, a perfect combination with the dish as a whole. At a late lunch time (2PMish) it wasn't too busy, and service was pretty quick! The interior is casual and you can even see the chefs working. I'd definitely come back to Chinchikurin, I can't wait to try more!

The appetizers we got were delicious. The cabbage and the octopus balls were great. We also enjoyed the drinks we ordered. Also, while I'm about to criticize the service, our servers never spoke rudely to us. So, the bad. -Sat us down, took our drink order and then forgot about us. When we asked about our drinks. Our waitress came back to ask us 3 different times for our drink order and still got the drinks wrong. -We were mainly ignored and were rarely checked on. I thought it may have been because we were in the patio. But no, the family across from our table seemed to have no problem getting service, but who knows the reason. -Omurice dishes were mediocre. We got the mentaiko, the curry and the hamburg dishes. Mentaiko was probably the best taste wise. The curry and hamburg were watery and bland. Had to hunt a waiter down to get us some sort of hot sauce. They would have benefited from some pickled veggies or some other different textures. After a while the dishes started to feel monotonous and gross. -As I had mentioned before, we were sitting in the front patio. By the end of our meal, I got up to go to the restroom. As I am walking down, one of the workers asked if I was a customer there. Stunned, I blurted "Yes" and continued on. My dear reader, that was my final straw. We had been sitting outside for what felt like HOURS. Got bad service, had mediocre main dishes, watching two servers running around like chickens with their heads chopped off. Only to come inside and get rudely questioned if I had been eating there by someone I am assuming was inside the entire time. If this is an issue the restaurant has, WHY ARE YOU NOT CHECKING WHO IS DINING AT YOUR ESTABLISHMENT PERIODICALLY. WHY ARE YOU INTERROGATING PAYING CUSTOMERS WHO ARE JUST TRYING TO PEE. WHY ARE YOUR WORKERS NOT DOING THEIR DUE DILIGENCE LOOK AT YOUR CUSTOMERS. I have never been asked if I was eating somewhere because I never HAD TO. For a store front that small, how are you not aware of your customers?! I am still getting heated just thinking back on it. Honestly, these issues separately I could have dealt with them, but it all happened in ONE meal. it was just a bad experience. I will not come back here. Do better.
