Yes, the wait was a bit long, but w Covid regulations and corporate issues causing the store to be understaffed, it was all doable and expected. Once in the store Brandon helped us quickly solve our issue w switching our daughter's phone service to a new(hand me down) phone. He was polite and respectful as were all the other employees we encountered upon check in and during our wait time etc. read more

I came in to switch from Verizon to ATT and upgrade my phone. The employee was new and screwed up the ordering. As a result I haven't been able to upgrade my phone still. I was eligible with Verizon. Still haven't heard back and it's been over a week. Ill be curious if I hear back or I definitely will be going back to Verizon. It's been a shame none of customer service or anyone has been able to resolve this by now. No one even reaching out. Terrible customer service. read more

When I entered the store, I was treated in a manner inconsistent with best practices for applications such as these. I sense a difficulty being experienced in this store: the staff is not keeping the displays properly stocked. There are items strewn about on the floor: detritus and flotsam blight the vision upon entering. Customers enter the store and are not greeted upon arrival. I hear the phone ringing and the manager is nowhere to be found. The assistant manager is on the floor assisting a customer. The "Manager" claims that the store is understaffed, and it really does seem to be when they are not present on the floor. When a customer enters the store, an opportunity to create a phenomenal first impression appears. A partner may choose to approach them and ask them for their name, greet them, or even suggest an option for a perceived desire. I felt uncomfortable as I perused the displayed phones and cases. I took it upon myself to pick up a few of the items which I thought could be re-shelved in an eye-catching way. As I rearranged one of the display tables, upon which the specials being offered drooped lazily backwards, I was asked by the manager to cease my activities and to return the table to the position it had previously occupied. Company policy was cited as being the reason for the chosen position of the display, and I reluctantly agreed to return it. Rather than help any of the roaming customers in the store, Chris chose to approach me and expel me from the store. I went to this store today for help. I dropped my phone in the toilet and I'm willing to buy a new phone with my upgrade. The sales"kid" told me I wasn't eligible for an upgrade until late June. He tells me I only have an "early upgrade eligibility" - makes no sense and basically they want $500 for new phone with 2 year contract on top of what I have now. Basically all he was interested in was getting me to switch my home cable to at&t (never gonna happen). These people are snakes. No wonder they get such lousy reviews! You are better off going online for AT&T services and products. read more

Got my iPhones here. The day the iPhone 2.0 came out there were about 100 people in line; not sure how many of them got to take home a phone. I ordered my phones instead, 2 weeks after release. Took a couple of days to get here - the very day my Verizon contract ran out. The guys that helped me were knowledgeable and friendly as only people who are shackling you into new 2-year manacles can be. Something was wrong with the data service on turn-on; they couldn't figure it out (turns out it happens sometimes on carrier provisioning changes, wait a few, 12 in my case, hours and it works - found info on the Google, but it took a while to research). Not included in the score (or it would be zero stars) is what I think about ATT service (that it generally sucks worse than Verizon, and doesn't work all that well at my house) and customer support (just try to get a human to answer your question, that's why the store is so busy with people asking WTF is up with my phone). Definitely not included is what I think of 2-year contracts with steep early termination fees, or pay-in-advance-for-more-minutes-than-you-need-or-get-royally-screwed rate plans; but that's the case with all the carriers. "At least ATT has rollover minutes" is the apologist response - or as I like to think of them, bend-over minutes. read more

Came here because of the glowing reviews. Had a terrible experience. The manager decided to "train" a new employee using us as a Guinea Pig, and a simple plan activation for 2 accounts became a 2 hour affair. The manager - Brandon I think? - kept walking away in frustration when the trainee needed him most, allowing him to make mistake after mistake. I watched him try to jam an android SIM card into my phone. I watched him take 20 minutes to fill out a single iPad screen with really simple questions on it. Pretty treacherous. Worst part is that I just got my bill...guess what? They signed me up for the wrong plan - one that costs DOUBLE what I signed up for. Been on chat with customer service for an hour now and it's not resolved yet. Never coming back here, and it's the closest AT&T by far. In fact, I regret choosing AT&T as a whole. read more

Two words: Gar Bage. My Sony X10 with Android has been acting up lately, and I've also had a huge problem getting the software to update to the newest version (pc support software didn't jive on my home computer), but gave up because it really wasn't that crucial. After not being able to hook up to about 40% of wireless signals I came across, I thought I'd stop in for some troubleshooting and pick up a headset that I needed. I ended up with a headache that I didn't need. Check-in guy was nice enough, told me I'd be waiting 15-20 minutes. I wandered around the store, stared at this pretty lady getting help in front of me, and thought about how good that family-size pasta serving was going to go down later on. They matched me up with this employee ( I use this term lightly ) who listened to my problem, took my phone and appeared to just randomly peruse the screens he thought might prove useful. I knew I was in trouble when he mumbled the following "Man, this is an old phone" ( I bought it 6 months ago) "Nobody here knows how to use this thing" (Really. Really?) "To update, when you're plugged into your computer using the support software, you also have to be online with your phone using the wireless connection" At this point I just took the phone back, told him I'd sit on their little stool and try to figure it out there in the shop by browsing the web. It seems like he'd go dig for an answer - maybe get a manager involved or someone with a little more knowledge. Nope. He just slothed over to the desk to ruin the next customer's experience. Hilarious. Another nugget of goodness with this guy - I'm 99% sure he was the one who helped me when I originally came to pick a model of phone 6 months ago. The only reason I doubt this is because I wouldn't imagine this guy lasting 6 months in one job position, but I think this might be par for the course at this particular AT&T. Not sure. After a few minutes of browsing with no result or additional assistance, I bailed out without buying anything else or solving my problem. I was able to install the PC support software on my work computer and get it to work this morning on my own. If management at this shop is wise, they'll send this guy back to his job at Subway next door. read more

I am fed the f up w ATT. A month ago I called for a Internet service upgrade, from internet50 to Internet 100. I was told it would be ready the next day. It wasn't. I called to ask what was going on. They said they would look. Repeat this exact process for 5 more calls over the next month. I wasn't rude, just asking. On call #6ish, I was told there was a 'glitch'. Then I receive a message that New hardware is being sent. I receive said hardware, install it. Connection is worse - dropped from 55ish down to 40ish down. Call again to see what's going on: they say they are working on it and to pull the plug and replug it to reset. Now I have zero connection. Seriously get it together. You wonder why people go postal. read more

What a horrible experience! We wanted to activate 2 or our 3 new phones. The guy explained he was new and had to ask for help 3 times and then my daughter in LA texted in a panic that her phone was dead. The guy activated the ONLY phone that we didn't want activated. It's number was ported and couldn't be unported. Only solution is to drive up to LA to bring the new phone to my daughter. They claimed we had initiated the porting. BS lie! read more

Manuel was super helpful and made the visit painless despite my issues with this company. He reassured me the steps and processes needed to transfer account holders. Even explained certain limitations while providing quotes on the best deal fit for my situation. My questions were all answered and elaborated thoroughly. Manuel was very personable and delightful, even thought I came in upset, he handled it very professionally and compassionately, unlike his other coworker. My wife needed a new iPhone and the Apple store appointment was in 3 days. Can't wait that long so I called and they said to just come in. I was there for about 5 minutes and then met Edgar Agustin. My visit was required due to an upgraded phone I purchased and returned from Walmart online on a AT&T installment plan. The phone was purchased online through Walmart and returned to a Walmart retail store as required by Walmart within the 14 day allowed return period. Now heres when the issues begin. When Walmart returned the device it was not to the policy of AT&T. Now AT&T has authorized Walmart to sell their devices to their customers but Walmart does not adhere to AT&T's return policies. The device was returned but my receipts do not display an IMEI nor a Serial Number. The installment plan is also still attached to my account and after leaving the store. I will have zero visibility as to when it will arrive back at AT&T after this critical moment. I've been financially responsible for the 749 device, the installments and the upgrade fee since September when I preordered the phone. As a consumer how could I possibly know all the missteps Walmart was doing. I returned the device on 10/8/19 and it has remained on my last three bills including November. I've spent over 7 hours on the phone with AT&T collectively not including the time spent here in store. AT&T is by far the worst company I've ever dealt with. My last call on 11/19 I was told they had the device as of October 28th and it would take 2-3 billing cycles before it would fall off my account. WTF! This means I will continue to pay for a device I no longer have. I was transferred to seven different representatives and this call took 1 hour 45 minutes. When concluding the call I went from one representative telling me they had received the phone as mentioned above to another representative having no record. I can't believe the level of inconsistency and lack of customer service at this point. I've come into the retail location to provide the documentation from Walmart showing the device was returned as proof. The in-store agent was able to get through to their internal team and rectify the issue. I couldn't be happier after all this time. Now this is where the agent shoots himself in the foot. He then provides an explanation that Walmart is solely at fault and I shouldn't be blaming AT&T. I agree Walmart is to blame but I can't be the first one to buy a phone from Walmart and return it. The third party retailer being Walmart has incorrectly returned the phone through their system. They returned the device just like any other item when it should've gone through a specific process, communicated and tracked through AT&T. Second the account should have had the device and installment plan removed. Now heres where both are at fault. Walmart has no access to my AT&T account. The AT&T in-store rep firmly says I should be focused on blaming Walmart and Walmart is incapable of handling phone returns correctly. I'm a customer of AT&T and now not for much longer after 20 years as one. AT&T has allowed Walmart to be an authorized reseller. If they allow them to conduct transactions involving their customers then they're solely responsible for the outcome. This is called accountability. If they choose to allow them to continue operating against policy they should not be able to conduct AT&T business. I've left out the numerous calls to AT&T. Their inability to simply communicate and provide customer service, the obscene amount of times I was transferred, promises made and not upheld and complete time suck of each call. I will never conduct business with AT&T going forward nor in the future. I will continue to advocate to all my family members, friends and colleagues that they no longer utilize AT&T or contribute to such a broken company with such disregard for it's customers. read more

Just returned from Best Buy down the street from this AT&T store, and purchased a new iphone and case in approximately 15 minutes, tops. This was after wasting almost an entire hour at the AT&T store, to make the same purchase. AT&T store: 45 minutes of waiting and watching employees working at a snail's pace. We counted at least 6 employees on the floor, but only 3 of them with customers. The waitlist was 6 people deep and moved slowly, but we waited patiently. We knew exactly what we wanted when we came in. Unfortunately, when it was our turn , our salesperson was adamant about upselling, (I'm guessing they are on commission). I clearly stated that my teenager would be ultimately paying for the phone, so no to all the upgrades, extra phone lines or larger storage, not in his budget! Salesperson went in the back, came out with 3 phones, all 128mg instead of the 64 mg that we asked for. Again, tried to tell me it's just ONLY $5 more a month. Ummmm, doing the math, that is a $150 more in reality, plus taxes, ugh! And then he proceeded to tell me he was out of 65mg phones. At that point, I no longer wanted to spend any more time with this unscrupulous individual, we left, never to return. Going to Best Buy, we got the phone my son wanted, at the price we expected, plus we were able to pay half of the phone off, upfront, which the AT&T salesperson said we couldn't do. Never again, will I go to AT&T, I've been a loyal customer for many years, sucks to be treated like this. read more

Having gone in store to avoid the confusion of trying to upgrade / move my service over the phone with customer services (not US based) I couldn't rate my experience highly enough. I was fortunate to work with Chadd the manager and he walked me through the whole process and as a result I ended up moving my cell service to AT&T as well. There was no upselling, everything was done to secure me the best market deal. I am a salesman myself and I was not sold to, I was advised and informed and ended up getting the best deal out there. The follow up assistance by the rest of the team when I had a slight issue (not AT&Ts fault) with porting the numbers was also excellent. Cannot recommend this store highly enough. read more

I came in here yesterday ready to throw my iPhone 6 out the window. I was so frustrated with the fact that my charging port had a difficult time holding in the charging cable and the fact that when I talk on the phone, people say that I sound like I'm far away. When I entered the store I was greeted by a man named Rob. He greeted me with a smile and a firm handshake and asked me why I was there at the store. I told him my frustrations and with a simple tool he began to clean my iPhone. I was very surprised that he started to do this and not sell me a cell phone. I was ready to throw down all my money and buy the new iPhone 7 Plus with changing my plan. After speaking with Rob he advised me that I should wait for the new iPhone eight and since there was nothing wrong with my phone that this was the best way to go. Rob was honestly one of the best and most helpful sales representatives that I have ever come in contact with at a retail shop. He was so helpful and friendly that when I come back I only want him to help me. read more

Every time I go to a store/restaurant, I immediately start thinking about how many stars they're gonna get. By default.. they start out with 5.. and depending on how they experience goes.. I start subtracting stars. I park in the private lot, and as soon as I step out of my car, my foot plants into a pile of vomit. Not good, but I can't take any stars away for that :) I walk in the door and I'm greeted by a fellow customer's back-side. For some reason, they're welcoming kiosk is placed 4 feet from the entrance. So if there are 3 people in line, the next person is going to have to stand awkwardly between the wall and a display, stand outside or in the doorway. -1 star for lack of feng shui skills I over hear the employee explaining to the customer in front of me that there are 3 people in front of her. She then goes on to explain that "this may take 15-20 minutes (she looks around the store) we're moving kind of slow today". WTF? "We're moving kind of slow today"? What kind of excuse is that? -1 star for sucking at customer service Being next in line, I explain that I need to get my 3GS re-activated because I returned my iPhone 4 to the Apple store. Then she says, "Ok, it'll be around 20-25 minutes". We wait.. and wait. 20 minutes in to our wait.. I notice a young female employee skipping around the store. I said it.. SKIPPING! WTF?! GO HELP SOMEONE! In frustration.. I stomp over to the list to see where my name is. Should I be surprised that only 1 person has been crossed out from the list? Nah.. I'm not surprised. -1 star for ignorant employee skipping around while customers are patiently waiting 45 minutes in to our wait, a guy walks up to an employee. They know each other. I eavesdrop, and the employee says "I'll help you but I need to see who's on the list, I'm getting off at 7". Could it be? Am I next? I sneak over to the list and see that the person above me (Diane) has CANCEL written next to her name. I AM NEXT! I look around for that employee that was supposed to check the list and he's walking back in to the employee area. He talks to a fellow female employee (the one that was skipping), then he goes behind closed doors. It feels like he's more concerned with leaving than with a crowded store full of people waiting. The employee that previously said "We're moving kind of slow today" was right. Everyone is moving at a snail's pace. And not the snail from Neverending Story. The kind of snails that come out after the sprinklers come on.. -1 star for inconsiderate employees An hour in to my wait, I see an employee walk up to the kiosk and check the list (I know I'm next). He says "Diane?.. Diane?.. Victor?" I follow him to counter and explain how he can help. Just then, the employee that needed to leave at 7 (it's 7 BTW) butts in to our conversation and tells the rep helping me to help his friend when he's available. What happened to the list of names at the door?? -1 star for employees helping their friends to avoid long waits The guy helping me says "ok" then asks me if the wait was long. I confirm his suspicions and let him know that I've been waiting an hour. He and a fellow female employee exclaim "wow". And then he goes on to express his disdain towards Apple and how they could have done this at their store. "They always have us do the activations".. What? I could have had this taken care of an hour ago at the Apple Store?! DAMN YOU APPLE (see my Apple review for more)! This guy knows his stuff and takes care of my phone in 2 minutes. Then I get to ask him about our recent switch to AT&T's Uverse internet and HD cable service. When we went to another AT&T location in early July, the rep sold us this service because they offered to take $100 off of my cellular bill, give me $200 and internet/HD cable for $80 a month for 6 months.. no contract. I was already sold but the rep mentioned that you can DVR a show then download it via Wi-Fi to your iPhone and watch it anywhere! And it's a new feature that was just activated July 1st! Where do I sign? I explained all this to my current rep and he said that it's not available yet and should be available at the end of this month but he's not sure. Seriously? Gimme my 3G S and let me get out of here. I can't subtract anymore stars.. read more

I'd avoid this store if I could. Let's face it, salespeople at cellular stores today fall somewhere between snake oil salesmen and charlatans on the scale of trustworthiness. So, we know we're being ripped off, because that's the nature of monopolies, or duopolies. What bothers me is being treated like crap while they're legally extorting money from us. That's the way I felt the multiple times I visited this store in Encinitas: Like they were doing me a favor by taking my money. None of the "sales" people really tried to help me solve my problem, they wanted me to fit into some tidy box so they could help me by some rote process they learned during "training." Try the La Jolla store: same crappy ATT, just better-trained staff. By the way, whatever happened to the ATT brand? It used to stand for competence and professionalism. Believe nothing you're told and only half of what you see. Even having something in writing has me spending hours trying to resolve. I left my company and needed to transfer the phone immediately. Before I could add it to my wife's acct. I created a new one, I was told my bill would only be a few dollars for the single day use. I received a bill for $54- and they're telling me they did not waive the initiation fee and the staff used 27mb of data to transfer my data to the new service. I'm starting to hate AT&T more than Verizon which isn't' easy to do. Pros: it's 5 min from my house. Cons: Liars and thieves. read more

Slow service... why can't the rep who has a customer on the phone with an AT&T rep for an extended time switch over to help another customer? Why can't the greeter help when nobody is walking through the door. For example, the greeter could say, I'll be happy to help you, but will need to sign people in until a new greeter is available. Up until today I've only had mediocre customer service (at best) from any mobile phone store I've been into, both Verizon and AT&T. Tonight was a completely different experience and I would definitely recommend our sales guy to anyone. We needed to upgrade our families phones, get new numbers and add a new line. Wesley was our sales guy and he rocked! No high pressure sales tactics and he was upfront with the couple items he was expected to kind of push on us, specifically a tablet (which we weren't interested in and did not buy.) Wesley listened intently to what we wanted and helped us find exactly what we needed and dial it in for the plan and use that best suited our family. We ended up staying about an hour past closing but there was no rush or pressure to move along. He transferred all data from phones and patiently answered questions from all of us, including my kids. Top rate experience....gotta love great customer service when you find it! read more

I have had to visit this store 3 times in the past month for various unrelated issues. This is the store in the Walmart/REI shopping center. All 3 times I was greeted and promptly helped. They all really went out of their way to explain everything and take as much time as necessary to resolve or explain any questions or issues we had. I especially want to mention Antoinette (sp?) who has gone beyond the call of duty (on 3 separate occasions) and been super nice and helpful. Having had negative experiences at other AT&T stores, this is the only one I go to now. If you need to go to AT&T, go to this one. If you're in a hurry, make an appointment first so you don't have to wait, as they do get really busy. read more

They certainly do sell a AT&T products here, but a more accurate name for the store would be "Upsell City." I came here a two weeks ago to upgrade my iPhone, and after literally a 60 minute wait (7 pm arrival), I was subjected to a barrage of invitations for products and services that I consistently declined, although in many cases, the sales rep would ask, "Are you sure?" I have had decent experiences here in the past, but this last one was terribly frustrating. Condescending employees, a long wait and the employees showed no interest in anything but milking me for every possible product and service they offered. read more

The employees are very helpful, nice, considerate and pleasantly casual. However, the store is somewhat disorganized, which resulted in me getting a different phone than the one I ordered. Furthermore, the management is negligent. I once came to the store at opening time and waited for over a half hour outside with all of the employees because there was no manager to open up the store. While the employees were fun, friendly and as helpful as possible during this time, I was still annoyed by the inconvenience. Once you go into the store, it takes a long time to get anything done. It took over an hour just for me to go through all of the paperwork of picking up a phone I had ordered. Finally, it seams like AT&T consistently increases the price of my plan every time I walk into the store. read more

I came to pick up a modem that Vista had them hold for me for the third one I'm replacing since they last about 90 days past warranty. The process was easy, when you enter, you go into a queue and then you wait / watch the screen for your name. I didn't wait long until I was able to see someone. The first gentleman I met wasn't too friendly, or helpful, which is a bummer, so that's the -1 star, but Emily (the next employee) I met helped me out an incredible deal, taking every step she could to help me cross over from Verizon, activate, return, reactivate, icloud, all that help! She was great! Also, I made a special request with the manager, and he was very king and personable and helped me as well! So I would say overall, great experience, maybe ask for Emily to help =) read more

The people here are usually very friendly, unfortunately they aren't always as forward thinking as I'd like. On two occasions I have called in to verify that they have some specific items, the first was an iPhone 5s in Space Grey 16GB about 4 months after it launched, they told me they had them, when I got there, I was told that not only did they not have space grey, but they didn't have any 16GB models. They are about 20 minutes from my house and I had to wait about 30 minutes in their queue, so in all about 50 minutes of time wasted. The second time was 4/17/14 I called to ask if they had any MicroCells. I was told that they have them and to come on in, 15 minutes later, on a drive in from work, I check in and sit down for 25 minutes while they figure out that the one MicroCell they had was "assigned" to someone else and that I would have to drive two towns over to get one. The people were friendly and I have never had anyone at this location be anything less than professional, but for consistently wasting my time they get one star. ATT's over the phone customer service doesn't help them get any stars either, but at least you can do stuff with your cell on speaker while you wait to talk to someone. read more

Garrett Brown.... All I gotta say. Call ahead and make an appointment. We arrived at AT&T and I was already annoyed, knowing that a new phone would take 2 hours out of my Saturday. Ugh. We grabbed a latte at Starbucks and 10 minutes later Garrett was ready waiting for us. Stoked. He took us outside and handled the whole transaction sitting in the Sam Diego sun. What a relief. Not stuffed in some loud uncomfortable obnoxious store with so many iPhone covers you're forced to buy a hello kitty case for your niece. Or better yet, sit there for 30 minutes and you'll end up buying an indestructible case that costs you more than the phone itself. So, arriving to AT&T was an escape.
