They're more concerned about getting a commission for getting you a phone than anything else.

Yesterday, I received a new cell phone and tried following the instructions T-Mobile gave me to transfer my phone number from my previous cell phone to the one one unsuccessfully. I tried using online resources before giving up and deciding to go into the store. In the past, I have always had quite a wait before an employee could see me to assist me. Today, I was one of the first customers in the store when they opened, and I had two employees assisting me until the transfer was completed. When I arrived today, Canyan quickly welcomed me and had me sit down and go over what I had done already for the transfer. He reset the process and started following through with the various steps. As other customers started showing up, he had Sebastian take over with assisting me while he helped others. Sebastian was able to help complete the process, and when I left, my new phone was now working and receiving calls and texts. While I previously wrote a review where I rated the service low, I would now consider the service of staff to be rather high though without appointments or an official sign-in process, customers do not initially feel valued upon their arrival. I do wish that appointments could be made for assistance the way that Sprint used to do before the merger. Now I know that If I show up just after opening, I can have a very positive experience though if I was showing up in the middle of a busy day, then I would rather consider looking for answers online or calling into customer service. I was very pleased to learn that a new iPhone 16 promotion allowed any iPhones from the 11 version onward to be worth $830 towards the cost of a new iPhone. Prior to this promotion, I could maybe get $110 give or take towards a new phone if I traded in my current phone. I appreciate this and other T-Mobile promotions relating to cell phones, Internet, and more. I look forward to see what I can get with T-Mobile in the future!

The sales associate Sam represented this as a standard upgrade on my current line. After the order was submitted, I was then told that the phone had actually been placed on a new line and that the line would be canceled later. I did not approve any new lines. Sam stated this was done so the device could be shipped and kept as store stock in case of an issue. This was never disclosed upfront and is not what I agreed to. When I checked my account at home, I discovered multiple new orders and new lines that I never authorized. I repeatedly asked Sam to process this as an upgrade on my existing line and was ignored. I was also later told about in store service fees and charges that were never clearly explained before the transaction. Opening new lines and devices on a customer account without consent and claiming they will be canceled later is not acceptable. This exposes customers to billing, credit, and fraud risk and is a clear abuse of account access. I escalated this directly with Verizon fraud and legal to address the unauthorized activity. This was not a misunderstanding. It was misleading at best and fraudulent at worst. I strongly recommend customers carefully review their account activity if they do business at this location.

During a visit to a store, an employee inserted a SIM card into my phone, asked for my account PIN to set me up, and then kept the SIM card, telling me I didn't need it. Shortly afterward, I began experiencing serious issues with my phone, including what sounded like eavesdropping or unauthorized access. I had someone check to see if I were imagining things and they too could hear it. I later contacted authorities and was advised that I may have been a victim of SIM swapping and fraud. This is a serious security issue that can expose personal and financial information. I attempted to resolve this directly with the store by calling and leaving a message for management, but never received a response. I also reached out to corporate in which they are working with me. I have since escalated the matter further due to the severity of the situation. What's especially concerning is the apparent lack of awareness among staff about how sensitive SIM cards and account PINs are. Mishandling this information can cause significant harm to customers. As a result of this incident, I now feel forced to replace my phone entirely and take additional steps to secure my personal information. I strongly urge Verizon to investigate this situation thoroughly, improve employee training on security protocols, and ensure customers are protected from potential fraud.
