So we stayed the night at this very quiet , nice little inn for the night while traveling thru N. California. We met one of the oweners ( I am assuming owner, his name was Sean). Very very nice gentleman, we had a great conversation with him. Pleasant and up beat and from our conversation a workaholic. Now for the establishment, it is remodeled, very pleasant. New paint and flooring smell. The rooms are nice and very clean. Owners are putting everything together nicely. There is a sitting area that they are building with a fire pit chairs and table with outside bathroom, covered. It is going to be really nice once finished. Sit outside and sip on wine. You will be in wine country. These guys were still working through the night. But we were away from the noise. TV had about 180 channels. We had a lot to choose from. Lighting was great. I stayed on one bed with overhead LED lighting, reading while my husband was in the other bed sleeping. The main lights were on a timer that lasted about 1 hour and shut off automatically. Normally I would never consider staying at a 1.5 star motel, but when I find myself without a reservation at 11:00 pm on Saturday and the last vacancy on the entire Central Coast is at the Atascadero Inn, that's where I stay. Surprisingly, it was not as bad as I expected. I will say that the room appeared to be clean overall. The pillows were rather drool stained and the cases were thin; that was the only put-off. The motel was quiet and the staff was friendly. It features a hodgepodge of furnishings, typical of older motels these days that have seen several partial renovations. I definitely did not like the wood laminate floor. Regardless of what is trendy right now, hard floors do not belong in an environment where quiet a priority. Carpet is a must. One thing I really liked was the AC had the controls on the unit thereby giving actual control of the AC and fan, as opposed the wall remotes which actually restrict their use in most hotels now. I've noticed that several of the top reviews look like the same person. Calling this a two star hotel is generous. The motion sensor lights for the whole room come on automatically in the middle of the night if you get up to go to the bathroom, which disturbs whoever is staying with you. The mattress is wrapped in a zipper cover indicating they've had a problem with bedbugs. I found several black spots in the bed, but I wasn't able to confirm that they were bedbugs. The mattress cover had a hole in it. The drapes don't shut out the light completely and there's a bright light right outside the room. The sheets have numerous stains on them that looked like they should've been able to wash out and I found a long black hair from someone's head, in the bed. I don't have black hair. The pillows are old and lumpy. The air conditioner is ancient and rattles. I didn't bring in my suitcase and made sure to put all of my clothes on a hard surface far away from anything made out of fabric or carpet that might shelter an insect. read more

0 stars. The man (coward baby) running the front desk called my husband a nigger. We stayed Saturday 8/14 and found fresh blood spots on our sheet when we pulled back the covers. We asked for new sheets and a discounted rate. We did not move rooms because our baby was already sleeping in our room. We were given fresh sheets and told we would receive some sort of compensation. None. Zero. Nothing discounted from our $340 bill for a 12 hour stay at a hole in the wall with blood on the sheets. When my husband called to ask about the discounted rate, the guy claimed that WE stained his disgusting sheets and that they never planned on compensating us for that and then he called my husband a nigger. On the positive side ....... The place is better than Motel 6 in Pismo but not up to a Holiday Inn Express level. The beds were comfortable enough. The room was reasonably clean. The Air Conditioning was great. The room had a decent flatscreen TV, a microwave, and a mini-fridge. The coffeemaker was a real mini-sized coffeemaker. The location was awesome for us because the A-Town Diner was only a half mile away. The shower was fine. It was quiet, not counting one night when some moose walked around on the second floor above us. Being right on the 41 we took our trip out to Morro Bay that we needed to (for a funeral). Being right on the 101 it was easy to get up to Paso Robles and wineries. And the key factor for choosing this location was that it was Dog Friendly. That said, "Dog Friendly" requires you to pay an extra $20 per night and sign off on a bunch of extra rules about damage and not leaving the dog in the room alone, and that's not on the website. ....... On the negative side ........ The water was kinda cloudy. The toilet and the sink drained slowly. Three doors down from us were some of the friendliest meth addicts. (To each their own. It wasn't a problem.) There was an outside trash can - the 32-gallon R2D2 shape can. The trash can was full the first two days of our three day stay - an obvious thing to remedy that they didn't. There is no pool. The guy behind the counter was friendly. ....... Would we go back? We probably wouldn't because the Adelaide Inn in Paso is much better (but it doesn't take dogs), and the Worldmark Pismo is awesome, if you can get into it (but again, no dogs). But for this one trip, we thought it was ok. A light three stars, but I wouldn't trash this place like some of the other reviews. read more

I stayed at the atascadero in this past weekend. When I folded my covers back I found blood on the sheets. I given new sheets was told I would get a discount but was charged full price. When I called to ask about it, the gentleman who happened to be running the front desk, Soham Bhakta got confrontational and resorted to calling me a NIGGER and accusing me of damaging things in the room even though he had never mentioned any damages until I called to ask about the bill. Okay- I should have done my research before making a reservation here. My bad. Pros: Large room, central location, 30 minutes to Morro Bay, comfortable bed. Cons: Dirty. See pictures. I did not complain nor did I ask for another room. I stayed my three days and spoke with the manager in checking out. He said he would have made changes if I had said something sooner vs at checkout. Maybe. This wasn't the point. I was only trying to share my experience. I asked how long it had been since he had been in the room I stayed in. He said about 10 days. I was trying to have a discussion and never raised my voice. He was clearly agitated with what I had to say. He argued the point that this is the least expensive place around. In my 50+ years of staying in literally 100's of hotels/motels, I have never experienced a worse hotel. I had reservations for over a week, but checkin was a complete hassle. After 5 hours of driving, I arrived at 2PM and was told I would have to pay an additional $25 for early check in which he stated was 3PM. I said that seems ridiculous since the room was vacant and ready. Fact was, there are approximately 40+ rooms and there were maybe 5 people in the entire hotel. After I paid the additional $25, I proceeded to my room. Upon opening the door, there was a noticeable musty smell. The room was dingy, the walls and carpet were dirty and the bathroom sink was less than clean. I was in Atascadero to attend an 80th birthday party for my sister. My plan was to take a short nap, shower and go to the party at 5PM. Then, to return, catch a few hours sleep and leave very early to make the 5 hour trip home. I was so tired, that I laid down on the less than comfortable bed. The pillows did not pass the smell test... nasty and the top sheet literally had several holes in it. Based on the reception I received when I checked in and the unprofessional attitude of the hotel owner or clerk, I knew that complaining would be futile. When I looked in the bath tub/shower, it was filthy and uninviting to say the least. I decided to pass and just wash up with the very USED towels/clothes available. I got dressed and went to the party. All I could think about was having to return to the horrible facility and having to spend the night in this shabby, stinky room. Again, truly a disgusting room at best. After leaving the party early because I was so upset about the room, I decided during the short drive back to the hotel that I absolutely could not spent the night in this filthy, smelly room. I saw the chamber maid, who was also less than clean and just hanging out and eating in the room downstairs. She asked me how I was doing? I told her not well and that I was extremely displeased with my room. She asked me what was wrong with it and I told her, "I don't even know where to begin!". I went up to my room, gathered my stuff, gave her my pass keys and drove the long 5 hours home. I got home at midnight and had to shower as I felt so unclean from even being in that room for less than an hour. I have written some nice reviews for exceptional hotels/motels, but I have never felt more compelled to write this negative review, which I have never done before. If I can save just one person from this horrible facility, it has been worth my time. My expectations were not that high as this was only a ** rated hotel, but at $250 a night, I at least expected a clean room and decent customer service. Needless to say, I received neither! The worst part is they charge you for using their cheap white washcloths. If a woman washes their face and gets any makeup on the towel they consider that an incidental charge and bill you after you leave! Go wash your towels and wash cloths you nasty motel! The room itself was not bad although floors felt like they haven't been cleaned in awhile i would recommend bringing slippers/sandals. My main issue with my stay here was the staff. I had issues with my previous hotel so I had to find someone ASAP googled places near and I saw this location. Called the office and the man who answered quoted me 180 for one night due to my situation I did not care. When I arrived the location he changed the price to 212, which again I had to agree due to my situation. I get my receipt it stated 252!!! I'm sorry but this place was not worth 250. Also, staff hung up on my twice once trying to get a room and again the next morning when I had issues with the WiFi password. It was not working and I had homework assignments to work on. Black mold in bathroom, spiders in every corner, carpet wasn't even vacuumed and just an angry man that doesn't want to hear any complaints at the front desk. BED BUGS!!!!! Worse hotel I've ever been too. First night we stayed in Room 206 and woke up to Bed Bugs!!!! Contacted front desk and was pretty much treated as no big deal. Switched rooms as our stay was for 2 nights and was unable to find another room on short notice on a Friday night. Second room was awful broken towel racks and counter tops. No shower head. Asked front desk about some type of compensation since we had to switch rooms was told we would be receiving an $65 refund for our inconvenience. But upon checkout was only offered $20 instead with thw difference going towards cleaning of room 206. Was outraged at this and demanded the agreed upon $65. Needless to say we will never stay here again and will never recommend it to anyone read more

In hind sight this small inn didn't look bad, reasonable costs and cozy. We were told the rooms were well sanitized and informed the rooms will not be cleaned until check-out due to COVID-19 which was reassuring knowing they were taking precaution. Soon after entering the hotel room it was clear they were not sanitizing and cleaning as they said. We were left a surprise from the previous guest. Before leaving this review which will be left on all social media accounts tied to this business I wanted to give some background detail about the booking. Our booking was set for July 4th weekend and would be a 1 night stay. We looked around the area of Morro Bay and due to the holiday prices were extraordinarily high which was to be expected. We booked Atascadero Inn from Hotels.com because this location was "Pet Friendly" which we were traveling with. Upon arrival to this location I walked up to the front desk and checked in, I was asked for my driver's license and a credit card for incidentals. I signed the paper that was handed to me and we were given the key card. Nothing stood out from the room that would have made us leave any sort of review good or bad. 2 days later I opened up my online banking account to which I received a $250 charge from Atascadero Inn. Mind you our hotel stay was only $139 in total so I was very confused and immediately called the Atascadero Inn. I asked to speak to the manager so they could explain to us why we were charged $250. The manager was very unprofessional and accusatory, I said the booking said it was Pet Friendly and we were never asked if we were traveling with a pet nor if I was even alone. I have traveled for work for the past 10 years and it's pretty much standard that I was asked this. We didn't do anything to cover up our pet because the policy said they accept pets. The manager then tells me that she was the one who checked me in and asked me if we had a pet which was a lie. The issue here is that I have no problem paying a pet fee and have in the past at multiple locations without issue. Every place asked us if we did and we disclosed this to them. The fact that this manager was so unprofessional and unwilling to explain the issue instead just charging us and not expecting us to do anything makes me feel like we need to warn others before staying at this property. If your hotels.com booking says Pet Friendly and you have a small sign at the front desk saying Not Pet Friendly in poor handwriting I think you need to understand the confusion here. Future travelers be aware of this location, as seen in other reviews they will add on fees as they please so make sure you are aware of this. read more

Just stayed here. The hotel is pretty plain looking. And looked okay except for the car parked out front that clearly has someone living in it. Room was clean. But then we saw what looked like a camera on the TV. I complained to the worker who said it was to change the channel. Which I had already tried that after I knocked it off and the TV still worked. So I was pissed that this man was making up crap. It was for cable but it has no reason to be up on the TV making everything uncomfortable as it still worked even without being mounted to the TV. But whatever our mistake. As we start packing up though at 9 am (two hours before check out) the man walks into our room! No knocking or any heads up just comes inside. I am a single mom with a baby and my mom in the room. He is absolutely lucky that we already had talked before hand or I would have attacked him. This is probably the best Americas Value we have ever stayed in! And that's saying a lot! Standard size room and it was non smoking. We were very pleased that, despite all the reviews on yelp, we walked into a clean and fresh smelling room. The cleaning lady was out and about cleaning all the rooms and she was very nice when we asked for another towel. The front desk was helpful and checking in was very easy. We did book this place through Hotwire so we didn't have to pay a deposit, but I don't know if they charge that through the actual hotel itself. It also was really inexpensive, so don't think this place is like a Hilton or anything because it's not. If you browse through this yelp, give this place a chance. I stayed at this location 5 years ago when it was Super8 and had a good experience. Since then it has changed to America's Best Value Inn but I thought how much could change. Well, a lot actually. Checking in was quick and easy and the staff was pleasant. When I got my room first thing I noticed was a weird smell, it wasn't clean smelling at all. Second there was an old lipgloss near the bed and a beer bottle cap near the TV. There was a stain on the bed that was a milk stain or something else...?? I proceeded to the bathroom where there was only shampoo and no conditioner, glad I brought my own. And there was old coffee grounds in the coffee pot. Now you're wondering why did I stay? Well I booked the room through Travelocity and being it was a third party the motel wouldn't get involved, plus it was graduation weekend and nothing else was available. So needless to say we stuck it out and made the best of it. Don't think I would give this place a second chance unless of course it was a last resort. read more

I should have been tipped off when I walked into a dirty, over crowded "lobby". The first room we were put in had a picture with broken glass above the bed, spider webs behind the door, and a hair on the bed. When I complained they put us into a room with dirty walls, alarm clock that wasn't set, mold and hair in the bathroom, and overall uncleanly look. This hotel is the worst not only were their drug dealers going in and out every day and night but our room stunk and we had to have someone come up and spray plus we found spiders in the bathroom in the manager did not want to do anything about it. The pillows were discussing along with the sheets with stains. I do not recommend that anybody stay at this hotel it's over price and basically a the worst motel I ever stayed at. In addition I had an additional charge on my credit card as I left a dirty face cloth. The towels were terrible not worth a penny. Please if you know what is good for you don't stay there. Hotel office smells when you walk in. Prices were good for what you got. They asked me to come back after 3 because my room was not ready. We came back about 3:30-4, at first glance the room was ok. Once you pulled the sheets back there was hair and stuff on the sheets, they dont clean the rooms at all. The sink had an orange spot in it , they dont make your beds with clean sheets, or even make them at all. We had to ask for extra sheets and just made the beds ourselves. last day of our stay they cleaned the orange spit out with my wash cloth they folded and put back up for me to use. This was probably my worst hotel experience ever in 40 yrs. The most disturbing thing happened the next morning. At 11:03, an older indian man (the owner?) banged quite violently on our door, I said "hello?" He didn't identify himself, but started to enter our room with his own card key! (fortunately I had the inner lock engaged; my girlfriend and I were both naked). He then said sternly it was time to check out because it was 11 AM, so I presume he was the manger or owner. This was Sunday morning... I'm sure they were not in a rush to turnover the rooms for an influx of Sunday check-ins. It was absolutely bizarre because the younger guy the previous day was very friendly, and when our "non-smoking" room turned out to smell of smoke, he helped us get another room immediately. I have no explanation for this bizarre behavior; we weren't noisy or problematic at all, except perhaps he has mental illness or confused us with another guest. I've traveled a LOT throughout California and I do have high standards. I like my room to be clean and I expect a certain standard maintained. My guy said let's try this hotel as the pricing was on the low end and the hotels were so pricey in SLO and other coastal towns so I agreed. The low end cheaper hotels all have the same problems: scratchy towels that look like they have been in use since 1980, toilet paper that takes a layer off of you etc. But this hotel and our room in particular had one problem that I couldn't overlook - it smelled like throw up. By the time we got there I didn't want to change because I was tired but hotel management - you need to really work on getting those kind of smells out of the carpet etc. The other complaint was the teeny tiny little blanket on the bed that looked and felt like something you might get in prison. (No I've never been in prison) Look I get it's a value inn but there is no value if your guests freeze to death or die from inhaling vomit all night. Other than that, the hotel needs to spend some money and do a little work and I'm sure it would be fine. Also the WiFi was slow at night but picked up the next morning. read more

This place is the worst of the worst. First issue is probably more with Hotwire really, but I stated the room was $80, so about $100 with taxes. I was okay with this, after paying, it tells me just kidding your room for one night is actually $150 (ugh!) anyway, checked in and our room smelled like a fresh ashtray. Seriously.. Go up to the front, and the guy says we got a smoking room (didn't know they still made those) and they're full to capacity. He was nice enough saying that they would clean the room more and change sheets. Got back to the room and no the sheets weren't changed and somehow (I don't even want to know!!) the room smells more strongly of cigarettes. This is just a room for the night but I'm seriously disgusted. Not to mention the mold on the faucet and shower curtains. Dead petrified bugs on the walls adorn the heck out of this place. As I'm laying here on my stained pillows, I question what time I'll have to awaken to make it to the local drugstore to purchase bed bug lotion..
