The spam was your typical spam. The surprise here is the egg. It stole the show! The egg has green onion in it. It is a thin folded layer of egg so it isn't a thick piece of egg. This place is really good. A little bit of sunny Aloha spirit in rainy, wet, dank Portland. The workers are friendly and chill. The food is basic Hawaiian and comforting and smells great when it rolls up in front of you. Daughter had Kalua Pig and it was moist and very tasty. Came here as we had to wait for our table at a neighboring restaurant near by and we could not wait so we had to come in for a light snack before our actual meal YES, you read that right. Big fan. It's been a long time for me I used to come here a lot in 2013-2015. I was out of state until about a year ago and this place is SO GOOD! If I'm really hungry I'll order Loco moco and sub chicken katsu instead of the burger. It's always filling but it's pretty hefty. A treat yo self style meal. The mai tai's are strong. I've had 2 before and I can see why they have a limit. I came in here a long time ago for the burger they entered into the burger week and it was excellent. I'm not sure if it's the same as the Arina burger but the description sounds the same. I live a lot closer now I'll be back soon. The place normally has surf videos or live sports on the tv. Service is order at the counter and they bring you the food. It's a great value and I'd be surprised if you didn't enjoy yourself here. My only complaint was the eggs were closer to fried and firm than over easy as I was expecting. I've been here about 10 times and this is the only time I've been even marginally bummed. I really wanted to like this place but I was left disappointed. Ordered the Chicken Katsu and Loco Moco. The Katsu looked to pre-frozen no panko, it was more so like breaded chicken and thin. Some of the pieces were thinner than my chopsticks. McDonald's chicken nuggets are thicker than the Katsu and some bits were rubbery. The Katsu sauce had a weird taste to it too, not what I'm used to back in Hawaii. The Loco Moco patty was a little under cooked for my liking and you could taste the grill on it. Too charred for my liking. When the patty was cooking, the cook was cleaning the grill plates next to it. Not sure if that may have added to the taste. I know the gravy is homemade, a shiitake mushroom twist to it, but I like the simple brown gravy. I don't recommend this place and won't be returning. read more

Man-oh-man were we starved for some food after we spent the morning chasing waterfalls at the Waterfall Corridor! This was a place my boyfriend wanted to try out as he was craving some Hawaiian food, and it did not miss y'all! There is a small parking lot available behind the building though it does share with other businesses like Tusk and Matador East Portland. I do believe there is still street parking available though for those who aren't able to snag a spot in that lot. The menu was cutely designed in colorful chalk up top that's easy to read, and once you decide what you want, you can just go up to the counter and order. I had decided to get a combo plate of the teriyaki tofu and the kalua pig, while my boyfriend had gotten the teriyaki chicken plate. The wait wasn't too long, and the plate sizes were decent. I even had to take some of mine to-go as I couldn't finish it all. The plates do also come with white rice and macaroni salad. Flavor-wise we couldn't complain! Teriyaki was on point, and I'm so happy to report that the pork wasn't dry as I seem to always get some Sahara-dry pork whenever I order kalua at a new spot. Awesome shoyu chicken and super yummy mac salad. The mai Tai is a win win. I came here with my wife and daughter and we had a fantastic lunch. We ordered the Shoyu chicken plate as well as the Tofu plate and both of these items were very good. The shoyu chicken plate comes with marinated chicken thighs and a scoop of white rice and macaroni salad. The Tofu plate came with slices of very firm teriyaki marinated tofu and scoop of rice and salad. The tofu was excellent and our daughter loved it. They have this awesome lime hot sauce that you can add to your chicken or tofu and this really elevated the flavor level of our dishes. The macaroni salad was super bomb and we can't wait to come visit for lunch again. If they could make the Shoyu chicken in a shredded version like Noho's I would be in heaven with this place. I got the Kalua pig, I don't know why they don't just say Kalua pork?.. and their Korean chicken which is essentially little warm kimchi mixed with mild hotness gochujang?
