Disappointing. We had gyros and the meat was cut paper thin and not much of it on the gyros. There was hardly any tzaki sauce and when we asked for more, it's was $1.40 upcharge. What? Worst customer service! I live fairly close by so my family and I tend to get takeout quite a lot from here. Every time someone from my family comes to pick it up they are rude. They make it seem like they are doing you a favor. I like the food but it is not enough to keep enduring their rudeness. They really need to work on their customer service. read more

A sign above the rotisserie in Athena proclaims, "Best Chicken in Town." Hyperbole? No, it's true. This is simply the best roast chicken we have tasted. Anywhere. Athena is a simple restaurant with an open kitchen that occupies about one-third of the space. With perhaps 20 tables inside and out, Athena seems to do as much take-out business as eat-in. We have done both and have never been disappointed. The roast chicken is consistently perfectly seasoned and cooked. The result is a juicy chicken with tasty seasoning that avoids the all-too-common error of using way too much salt. The Greek roasted potatoes are another favorite of ours. They compare favorably to those we ate in Greece. A delightful dish we only recently discovered is the Sid Salad. It is essentially a Greek salad with pieces of the roast chicken added and the olives and green pepper left out. The dressing is light and a perfect blend of oil, vinegar and spices. If you like simple, tasty food, delivered quickly, this is the place for you whether you eat in or take out. read more

I went to this place with my team for lunch. Someone suggested as it was nearby. I saw lot of people taking ore ordered packets may be because that don't have very organized seating arrangement. However I was very impressed with servers and food obviously. Chicken was delicious . I tried gyro and pita on another trip. This place is the BOMB! Their chicken is so juicy and has so much flavor that I can't resist not eating the skin. Their gyros are pretty good too! Lots of flavor and no words for the sid salad. So, we got the Family Meal. It was advertised to feed 3-4 people, only three of us were eating and there wasn't enough. 3 sides may seem a lot, but the portions were small. Then again it was 20.00. I would pay extra for bigger size portions. The chicken was big, but it was way too tough for my taste. The Mac and cheese was delicious and the green beans were good. At some point, I may try this again and just order the chicken to see if there is a difference, but I really wasn't impressed with it at all. I have been to this place for lunch going on 30 times, and each time they have been great! Customer Service is amazing and the food is even better. One bonus is If you dine in, they provide FREE refills. I normally do their 1/4 Dark Chicken w/ Wheat Roll, which comes to around $2.59, plus tax. If I decide to get the same thing, and then add two sides, it comes to $5.99, plus tax. In case of a lunch line, I find it better to go online, look at their menu, and then order over the phone because your food is ready upon arrival and there is a separate "pick-up" express line for over-the-phone orders. Good news for those late planners, if there is a lunch line, there is rarely a long wait. Lastly, the chicken just melts in your mouth. read more

Today was my 3rd and last visit here...all within the course of a month. My first visit I got a Sid's Salad and was very surprised at the quality and taste. The salad was comprised of white meat chicken, tomatoes and feta cheese. I paid extra to get kalamata olives. I very much enjoyed it. My second take out order, was the same...yet when I got back to the office and opened it, the chicken was ALL dark meat (which I don't eat) and looked like the scraps of the day. I picked around it and ate the salad and feta. When I called today I told them what happened and asked for all white meat...she hesitated and said it would be extra...I said fine, figuring it would be another dollar. When I picked up the salad, it was an additional $2.50...seriously??? Here is my issue...the salad looks exactly the same as the first which was all white meat and which I did not need to request. Anytime I have had a chicken on a salad at a restaurant, it has been white meat. If you are going to differentiate then make it clear on the menu with separate pricing. read more

Unfortunately, since we moved further away, I hadn't been there for a few years. We just stopped in yesterday since I was in the area. It was the first place my sister and I thought about! I had to have the roasted chicken; it is so... so... flavorful. It did not disappoint! Of course we had the potatoes too. They are seriously the best ever! A small neighborhood place that you can always count on. :) It's right around the corner from Lake Lily Park. Their chicken is really flavorful, and they have so many yummy sides. Good, clean food. It was $10 and they had it boxed up and ready for carry out about a minute later. The chicken was juicy and tender. The potatoes were perfectly cooked and seasoned light buttered heavenly to die bites(favorite part) Cole slaw was good tasted like any other Cole slaw still quite enjoyable! I also was extremely impressed with the rice pudding it was absolutely amazing. The staff was super fast, friendly, and efficient. I like Athena Roasted Chicken but I used to like it more 20 years ago. I went back recently I was in the maitland area. The inside seemed filthy. All of the tables were sticky and I checked 6 different tables. The people working there did not seem happy either. My husband got an order that was way different from what he requested. My husband and I have been dying to try this chicken place. They clam to have the best chicken in town but despite the very Friendly atmosphere and making you feel like family as soon as you walk in, I feel guilty to report the chicken is very dry in both the chicken platter and the chicken gyro we had. This is a great spot for lunch or take out. The food is always fresh and delicious. They have chicken, pita wraps, soup, salads, desserts, and a wide array of sides/appetizers. The indoor seating is a bit cramped and noisy, but the food is worth it. When weather permits, eating at their outdoor seating is much nicer. read more
