    Chicken Gyro
    Elizabeth M.

Came here for a lunch with coworkers and was pleasantly surprised. I had never been here before or even heard of it but it was pretty decent. I ordered a chicken gyro wrap and they stuffed it to the brim! The flavor of the chicken was great, the pita was soft and fluffy, and the toppings (especially the sauce) were really good. You order at the register and then they call your name/number once your order is ready. The food was ready quickly and the staff was nice. There is a ton of seating inside and even at peak lunch time, there was a lot of availability.

1/2 chicken with Greek potatoes and green beans

A great local, no-frills spot with tender rotisserie chicken and a menu of Greek/Mediterranean options. Had the 1/2 chicken with Greek potatoes and green beans. The pita was a bit dry for my liking, but the potatoes had that amazing lemony flavor I love from Greek restaurants. I'd probably get hummus next time to have a "sauce"/dip option for the chicken. I'll definitely have to try their chicken and rice (avgolemono) soup and the dolmades on my next visit! A lot of locals and take out orders, and the staff seemed to know many of the regulars which is always great to see.

I have not been to Athena's in a SUPER long time (like 25 years) and I really don't know why because we used to come here all the time! The food js just as good as I remember ... and my palate has grown up a bit so things I would not try before I was excited to try now. Like the rice wrapped in grape leaves. The pita with hummus was excellent! The olives are soaked in wine and you can taste that delicious wine let me tell you. Soooooo good. The kids meal is a great size and my ten year old DEVOURS every bite. The chicken just falls apart it's so tender and perfectly seasoned. The Greek salad is big and the interesting thing about is the smear of potato salad on the bottom. I like that. I will be running back to Athena way sooner than 25 years I can tell you that. (Also what a great testimony to be around for so long... you know that food is good)

    Zesty Feta With Chicken

Five stars for flavor, price and speed! I love coming to grab a quick lunch at Athena's and have frequented it for the last decade or so. The BBQ chicken Pita and the zesty feta chicken pita are my go-tos! I also love their Mediterranean salad and regular gyros as well. I also just love how affordable and quick this is for lunch and super filling. I will comment that The service is not what stands out here - after all it is a walk up counter to order so my interactions are limited. As far as the ambiance goes, this isn't that kind of place and will feel a little chaotic; But this is exactly what I expect out of this type of restaurant. The lunch line can get quite long, they're hollering out order numbers and dine-in is a paper plate and plastic. So set expectations accordingly. Looking forward to my next lunch here. YUM!

I've known about this restaurant for years. They advertise themselves as the Best Chicken in Town. I finally decided to stop in for lunch with some coworkers. The dining space is a little small but obviously popular because it was packed. I was impressed right away with the menu options and variety they offered. I asked the employee working the counter what the most popular options were. Based on her feedback i choose the quarter chicken, roasted potatoes, and green beans. The food was good at a good price. I left feeling satisfied and health conscious. My coworkers all got wraps or pitas and were all equally impressed and satisfied.

I love this food! Always fresh and delicious. The staff is always warm and welcoming. And the dining room is practically a Maitland museum. I get here about as often as I physically can.

After a long day, I was heading home and craving some good rotisserie chicken. Of course, I had to stop at Athena Chicken--the best in town! Their rotisserie chicken is always juicy, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. It was exactly what I needed for a quick, satisfying meal.

I ordered from Athena Roasted Chicken because I've heard great reviews. The order was a good temperature when delivered and I was impressed with the amount of food that I recieved -- great value! Everything was delicious, except for the chicken, which was dry. I added the chicken to a soup though and it was delicious. Would definitely order again!

Chicken was delicious. Hummus and tabouli so so fresh!! Quick - reasonable price. Can't wait to eat my Greek salad. It looks amazing too!

Athena is a staple around Maitland. Classic locally owned Greek restaurant with a great chicken meal. I got the roasted chicken and a couple sides my 1st time. They have the chicken ready to go, so it makes coming for lunch a breeze. My last visit, I had the chicken Gyro and I loved that. Hot, fresh and authentic. You know it's going to be a good place when 90% of the restaurant is over the age of 60 directly after opening, you know that crowd is picky and won't eat just anywhere ;). Service was fast and efficient, you order a the counter and pick it up at the counter. I will continue to come back here!!

    Not recommended- Gyro On Pita
    Elizabeth E.

We saw this restaurant when checking out the nearby Lazy Moon Pizza. This restaurant is more like a deli in that it only offers counter service and has no waitstaff. A lot of people seem to be ordering food from here for delivery because we saw a steady stream of pickups while we dined in. The food was meh at best and nothing anyone in our party would go back again for. The mousaka was not very well seasoned and tasted like reheated two-day old leftovers. The gyro was ok but there was little meat to salad" ratio. A far better option is the Mediterranean deli on Fairbanks. The roast chicken was ok, the Greek potatoes were not great and the zucchini with tomatoes was also ok. The feta dip with grilled pita was the highlight of our dinner but not worth returning for.

The whole "best chicken" statement might be very accurate. It's definitely up there in flavor and taste and texture of rotisserie chicken. Quick service, I only got chicken and a side of pita so I cannot comment on the other items on the menu but everything looked good. Overall no lies were told in the comments about the chicken.

They sent me an offer for a free biscuit sandwich for my birthday! Perfect timing since I was at the office that day! He was genuinely great and super helpful...kudos to him! He mentioned everything is made fresh, so it would take a few minutes. I waited patiently. The location is small, tucked among other restaurants and shops in Winter Park. It was very clean and well-maintained inside. I took my order back to the office (only about 10 minutes away). When I opened the bag... surprise! I was expecting a normal-sized biscuit, but this thing was twice as big as I thought. The chicken was super crispy, flavorful, and that melted pimento cheese was fire! It was seriously delicious and very filling. I'll definitely be back soon to try another biscuit...maybe something more traditional next time to compare. My experience was excellent overall, but I have to dock one point for no indoor seating. I know the space is tiny, but adding a small counter with a couple of high chairs against the window would be awesome. Just my two cents!

They were shocked of the experience I had. It was a pleasure talking to them both them hearing me vent it out about my dining experience from another establishment. On a weekday around close to 12pm this place can get a line for food. By far Ms. Kim's place is the best soul food IMO in Orlando and the portions are hefty! Next time you stop by - its nice to chit chat with Ms. Kim and her grandson who is pretty much the cashier.
