I never write reviews, but had to when I visited this place. The Owner is the main reason for the excellent reviews. The Food I would say is fair, but the service is off the hook. In an age where customer service is often overlooked, this place "GETS IT". I will do my best to eat there from time to time even though it is farther than my normal joint. I was a little skeptical about this place once i found it. I thought it was going to be another over price, small portioned restaurant. Once i walked in, the owner (i think) was SUPER friendly! Even to my little bros and GF. He asked where we were from and we told them the Bay Area. He kept asking questions about us, getting to know us, and treated us like we were family. I'm in town 3 or 4 days a week and discovered this place a block away from my motel. Since my discovery I now eat their food 3 out of 4 nights. Just opened my business and Kogi Teriyaki is in the same locations as my new store.. Looking for some quick dinner , I walked in expecting "teriyaki" just like any other place.. Terrific food. Off a main road in strip mall but worth the visit. I had beef short rib, very good. Tender and good flavor. I mixed a small amount of "spicy sauce" in teriyaki sauce and it was a great topping for the ribs. My daughter and husband had teriyaki chicken and veggie. Great basic teriyaki chicken breast well cooked. Another daughter had shrimp fried rice. Best fried rice I've ever had. I didn't eat any of the shrimp (she wouldn't share) but the flavor of rice was excellent! Peppery with green and red peppers. Not spicy but very flavorful. Dinner for 4 - $45 w tip and left overs. The entire place is micro managed. Tables are labeled one or two person. No water dispenser. No hot or teriyaki sauce allowed away from condiment table. Place is WAY too stiff. They need to loosen up. The Chicken Bowl down the road is much better! read more

I was visiting LA with my family and stayed at the nearby Ramada. There is practically no food nearby so we came to Kogi for dinner. We ordered the udon and the bibimbap and the food was excellent! The owner was also very friendly and gave us magazines and newspapers while we waited for our food. He also offered to change the TV to our preferred channel. I've had a whole lot of kalbi before - these were thin slices, a little too chewy and not quite marinated enough. The chicken in the yaki soba also had a different taste as well.. not sure I liked it. The owner is super friendly "there's a money back guarantee on the food!"... he said they'll be changing the menu soon and re-modeling... might give it another try then.
