The pies are amazing. The chicken is crispy and juicy and it just feels like home. Doesn't look like much from the outside, but they've got some solid tenders, fried chicken, and pies. It feels more like a takeout spot, though there are a few indoor seats if you want to dine in. I tried a handful of items: No. 1 Plate - Comes with 3 pieces of fried chicken. I got mixed, so it included both white and dark meat. The chicken was cooked well, and the batter was great, crispy, flavorful, and overall really enjoyable. (4/5) 3-Piece Chicken Tender Meal - The tenders were crispy, and we got them tossed in buffalo sauce, so they came fully coated. Pretty tasty and priced well. (4.5/5) Coconut Pie - Really good. Been passing by this location many many years. Born and raised in Montebello . I can't remember eating this food as a kid decided to stop by from a food creator from IG and best decision I have made. The chicken is perfect seasoning crunchy-ist and cooked from perfection the coleslaw very delicious rolls. Also delicious. The service was also amazing. Please stop by and support this business. They also have lunch specials. Many next Friday I will stop and get the fish and chips which is only $10 where could you paid that for dinner. Got the mini lunch of a thigh and drumstick and coleslaw and a slice of home made peach pie to go -on impulse. To celebrate my cholesterol coming down 30 points :/ Not fancy. Service was friendly , prices totally fair and the chicken was wonderful . Crisp, hot and juicy. I don't know how many calories were saved on "broasted" chicken over fried but I can tell you it was delicious, fresh and quality tasting and you don't feel gross and regretful like after you eat fried chicken . You feel like you deserve a piece of pie!! and it was a very good one. Homemade or not - I have no idea but it was lightly sweet and the fruit was the star and the fluffy crust , while not as good as my own was way better than most restaurant pie. . I don't know why i even ordered peach pie when i had so little hope. I've had so many disappointing bakery pies but this one was not disappointing. Broaster Kitchen is a nice fried chicken casual dining restaurant located along W. Beverly Blvd. It shares a small parking lot with the neighboring liquor store among other businesses. The space is moderate, tables and chairs lined along the right side of the restaurant. Framed pictures all along the wall. Most of the front space is the counter and cake display (empty at the time I visited). I came for dinner and placed a pick up order. I ordered the 10 & 10 which included 10 mixed pieces of their fried chicken with 10 pieces of broasted potatoes. I also ordered two slices of their cheesecake which at the time was all they had left. The chicken was great, nice and crispy skin with not too much greasiness. It had a nice basic seasoning to it, and was not extremely salty like fast food fried chicken can be sometimes. The meat was juicy and had good salt to it too. I'm not sure how they marinate or brine, but it seems very simple and it works. The broasted potatoes were there large wedges that had been perfectly roasted. I love the skin on potatoes giving a nice texture. Because it was a pick up order the potatoes started to steam in the to go box, so I threw it in my toaster to crisp the skin up. I wish the potatoes were seasoned, I think they are purely roasted so it was basically eating a roasted potatoes which it wasn't bad. I just had to add some of my own preferential seasoning. If you're looking for a no salt option then eating them as is will suit you well. This place touts their homemade pies, however the display in front was empty and upon speaking to the lady at the counter it seems they start baking their pies on Wednesday and sell them through the week into the weekend and whatever is left is available. This includes the mini pies. They had 2 slices of cheesecake left which I took instead. For $4 a slice it seemed a little over priced for how small the slices were (see picture). The mini pies are priced the same so I would like to come back and see for comparison. Flavor was great though, nice compact graham cracker crust, that was buttery and packed together well. The cheesecake base was slightly tangy and sweet, a nicely executed cheesecake. Overall a decent place for fried chicken. If you're looking to support local businesses give this place a try! read more

The menu is simple and they have combos you can choose. They also have homemade pies! I ordered the 3 piece chicken that comes with a side of coleslaw, dinner roll, and 2 potato wedge. The chicken was very good! perfectly crunchy and so juicy on the inside. The thighs I thought were on the smaller pieces. But I liked how the batter was not overly drenched like popeyes. The potato wedges were perfect too but I just wished I knew to ask for ketchup. It was kinda dry and needed a sauce. The dinner roll was dry. I love a good pie. I ordered the chocolate banana mini pie. I was disappointed because the crust didn't taste homemade. It felt like premade crust. It only had 2-3 pieces of banana. The chocolate pudding was alright. Whipped cream on top was too much and tasted old like it was sitting in fridge for couple of days. Do not recommend. Overall, the chicken is very good. We step then we look at the menu display and decided what to order then my wife order the fish n chips and I order the three pieces mixed meal it comes w. ith fries,roll and Broaster potatoe. Each order is made to order fresh and hot when you receive it. It took about 20 minutes to cook the chicken right then they brought the food it looks good. I took a bite of it it was hot from the fryer but it was juicy and very crispy whe I took a bite. Each pieces was cook perfect each piece have that crispy crunch.. I almost feel bad giving my review but my experience was bad. The chicken was dry and flavored less. I had to put salt on it. I also bought a mini pie and it's flavor was horrible. Maybe it was just old. I went into the restroom and that alone should say everything it was dirty and gross. Saw that Broaster had a special deal on doordash today so decided to put in an order for a dozen hot wings, and a 5 piece lunch special. Was lucky my dasher only had one other stop, so my food arrived still hot. Portion Size: 5/5 All the pieces from the thighs to the drumsticks to the wings were all bigger than anything you would get from Buffalo Wild Wings, Pizza Hut, or any other chain. The pieces were meaty for sure. Texture: 4/5 The batter and skin were fried well and crispy. The chicken was not overcooked and was juicy. The included potato wedges were a little bit on the soggier side but I ordered delivery so knew they wouldn't come super crispy. Taste: 1/5 This is where things got really bad. Not sure if I got a bad batch, but all of the chicken tasted like it was dumped in salt. It was inedible sadly, and it's a shame because the initial bites were fantastic texture wise. Had it not been for the extreme saltiness, this could have been some of the best fried chicken in socal i've had. The hot wings had sauce on the side, but it tasted like watered down Frank's, and with the wings that salty there was no way I was adding anymore sauce. The 5 piece was just as bad, salty without being able to taste any of the other seasoning if there was any. The potato wedges were unseasoned and just tasted like baked potatoes with nothing added. Again, really disappointing as the texture wasn't bad. The coleslaw had no dressing; it tasted like they bought a precut bag and threw it in a sauce container. I have no idea if this was just a bad day since there are a lot of reviews praising Broasters, so hopefully today was just a mistake. The foundation is there for some extremely good fried chicken, but the chicken was so bad I ended up taking maybe 4-5 bites total before just throwing it all away. To the naysayers who lament, "But hey, you grew up in Carson, and have spent the last 22 years in Diamond Bar, what do YOU know about quality fried chicken?!" I counter with: * First job: Spent a year cooking the fried chicken at the #1 volume KFC in Greater Los Angeles, on 184th & Avalon in Carson. * I've sampled Dinah's Famous Fried Chicken adjacent to the Fox Hills Mall, Roscoe's Chicken & Waffles, howled at Howlin' Rays, the blast-from-the-past Golden Bird and even tried Hattie B's in Nashville and Georgia Brown's in our nation's capital, Washington D.C. I first heard about the restaurant that Gerry & her husband Bernard Monroe founded in 1959 after seeing Broaster Kitchen featured in an LA Times special section on the best fried chicken places in LA, and instantly put em on MY personal YBL- Yelp Bucket List. WED afternoon following a doctor's appointment in Downey presented the perfect opportunity. First impression? Bravo! These guys are serious about safety! I actually had to briefly retreat back to my car to retrieve my mask due to the "no mask, no service" warnings emblazoned across their front door. Pro tip: Since they prepare your food to order, be sure to call ahead or bring a book. My 20-piece family order, which comes with rolls/honey, potato wedges, cole slaw alongside their world famous yardbird, took a good 15 minutes to prepare. No complaints, though! Heads up: Don't confuse Broaster Kitchen with the Eagles! Having tried all of their side dishes, I can emphatically state that BK is more on par with Gladys Knight & the Pips; the CHICKEN is the STAR while the sides are pretty nondescript. Specifics? The potato wedges warranted a C-Minus. And, believe me, this Irishman WANTED badly to looove these spuds. If they'd only seasoned Idaho's finest w/ a FACSIMILE of what they use on their fabulous chicken, they'd be much better! The cole slaw comes vinegar based and shockingly served at room temperature. It sorely needs a massive dollop of Best Foods Mayonnaise and should be served cold + crisp! D-Minus! Rolls arrive steamier than Madonna circa 1984 or my beautiful bride of 25yrs ... but are bland, super doughy and come with Kraft branded honey packets (when they'd be much better complemented by serving them with an unsalted butter/honey compound. Solid C, but fixable. Note to BK CEO Mike Monroe: My friend, you're like Arista Chairman Clive Davis upon discovering a young Whitney Houston (after guiding acts like Aretha, Aerosmith & Billy Joel)- You've one of the best jobs in America!! But, seriously, please consider upgrading your side dishes. Imagine how much better Gladys Knight's enviable career would've turned out had she been backed by three other lead singer caliber musicians (like the Eagles)?! How's the chicken?! How about every bit as good as Hattie B's in Nashville?! This is sooo good you wanna pound on your walls, grin like a banshee and tell everyone you know about it!! Dark, almost glossy reddish brown, super crunchy skin with super satisfying mouth feel followed swiftly by the sort of super juicy, well seasoned meat that makes you audibly groan from the sheer pleasure!! So run, don't walk, to this Montebello institution. It is a shame that the owner is getting to old to work. I asked for 1/2 rack ribs, they didn't have, I asked for pies that they advertise, they didn't have. I settled for their No. 2 Country Box which comes with five pieces of chicken, three potatoes and two buns with honey, and coleslaw. What I got was five pieces a chicken, two buns, and two potatoes, that was it. Not only does the owner put too much salt which you can read on earlier complaints but he forgot what comes with his meals. The one think he hasn't forgot is to charge his customer full prices for 1/2 of what he committed in providing.
