There was almost nothing under $20. There was also some confussion with my order because the menu online was different than the one in the restaurant. Which may or may not include a drink and fries. So, if that means I'm paying $21 for just a Waffle Slider without fries and a drink, that would be astronomically high! I will say that the service was amazing. Super friendly staff working there and they were willing to add the fries and drink to my order, despite the confusion. After an appointment in LA, we were having a hankering for hot chicken, so searched along our route back to the hi-dez, and both Yelpers and reviewers from the other search engine in my map app agreed that Legend was an A+ choice, and only a couple minutes of the freeway to boot! After studying the menu closely (there are a LOT of variations on how you consume your chicken and a LOT of sides to choose from), we finally made our decision... I opted for the chicken & waffle sandwich topped with cole slaw and the "hot" sauce; Gary opted for the tender loaded Mac'n'cheese bowl, also with the "hot" sauce. After we ordered and paid, the friendly guy taking our order asked if we like hot stuff, because even he doesn't eat the hot stuff. We said we do, but based on his description, were were both questioning our choices - haha! The food was done pretty quickly, considering they fry up and prepare everything to order. He gave us extra honey and ranch, fearing for our heat tolerances, and the meals came with a signature dipping sauce and syrup for my waffle sandwich. We took the food to our car because the weather was lovely that day and proceeded to dig in... Suffice it to say, we have a new foodie stop on l our commutes to LA! The hot sauce on mine was the perfect amount for me, balancing perfectly with the cool creamy slaw and the sweet, fluffy waffle. I alternated drizzling syrup and the signature sauce on the sandwich. Gary's was delicious too, although the hot sauce was a little more than his preferred level of spiciness. He persevered nonetheless, but eventually gave in about halfway through, fearing if he ate any more, he'd be too sleepy to drive the whole way home without stopping for a nap - haha! Both of us ordered our meals as combos and just opted for the standard fries which had a coating on them to make them more flavorful and crispy, but that I wasn't in love with. I think they might have been cooked a few seconds too long or maybe a little hot, because they did that thing I hate about "California's favorite" fast food burger place with the stupid long lines: the fries are tasty *immediately* out of the fryer and with dipping sauce, but after three minutes, they're dry, brittle and deeply unsatisfying. I'll just try the cheese curds or another of the ten or more side options next time! If you're in the mood for hot chicken and you've got a craving while you're in the Montebello area, I most definitely recommend Legend Hot Chicken. Influenced by the raving reviews, we decided to check out Legend Hot Chicken. Instead of fulfilling our expectations, we found it lackluster in both spice and flavor. Although the service saved most of the experience, as the worker out front was very apologetic and communicative, the spice of the chicken receded with each bite. We got acclimated to the flavor and very tired of it by the end of the sandwich. It seems like the seasoning was only dusted on top of the breading so the flavor felt surface level. The portions were very fulfilling and sizable, however. There was also a potential issue with the soda machine, specifically the Sprite dispenser. The first pour came out with tiny black dots (possibly a filter problem). Once again, the worker in the front was very understanding when we brought up this concern and gave us a canned Sprite instead. Kudos to Joseph M.; he really made the experience less burdensome. This place is insane but in a good way. I tried other hot chicken spots in LA but when you ask for the Legends flavor prepare for hot running wild flame throwing kind of fire. That level is wickedly hot and we'll deserve the attention. I have this place kudos because I was drinking 4-6 bottles of water after eating to legend flavored chicken tenders. If a restaurant has balls to make things this spicy the are legit. My only gripe was the fries. They were greasy, oily, and soggy. They use chicken breast for their chicken tenders and they are juicy and crunchy. The accompanying sauce is delicious; very similar to Raising Cane's. Two large pieces of tenders and toast cones to $9. Add fries and a fountain drink and it's $13. I really wish they have the option of a 3 or 4-piece combo. Your order may take a little longer to come out but it is made fresh, so a little patience is required. I went to try this restaurant called Legend Hot Chicken to try their version of the Nashville hot chicken. I look at their menu they have sandwich,chicken strip, and other items. I order the chicken sandwich combo they told what level I say mild but they say it's spicy it remind me I went to the crimson Coward in Downey I order their chicken sandwich in mild but it was hot and tear coming out. I learned that lesson I wouldn't repeat that again. The sandwich has cole slaw and fries but I upgraded to waffles fries an extra charge. I waited for my order everything they make is fresh and made to order. Final I got my meal it looks so good then I took a bite right away it very spicy but not that spicy that I can feel the heat.
