Have had my eye on this place for a while since the reviews were good. I can confirm. The restaurant is spacious inside with plenty of seating. The young men that take your order are always patient and helpful. Good service. The prices are good for the portions and quality in my opinion. Since I was in the neighborhood, I decided to give Chef Chen a try. I ordered a lunch special kung pao fish fillet, hoping to get a cup of hot and sour soup but the daily soup was cream of corn, and no substitute. I was surprised to see the kung pao fish fillet served with chopped zucchini. The fish fillet was kind of soggy, not exactly what I expected. The spicy level was tamed down to almost non-existent unless you chew on the chili pepper. My overall impression of Chef Chen is Americanized Chinese food. It seems to be very popular with people nearby. I saw a lot of people came in to pick up to-go orders. I am happy that it is doing well but I will march on. read more

I have to review this little spot in montebello. Been coming here for little bit now and they never seem to miss a beat and they stay super consistent. From the orange chicken made with real orange peels and little bit of chili peppers it's absolutely perfect together. From the beef and broccoli always on point, not over cooked nor does it lack flavor. The chow Mein probably another favorite as it always cooked fresh and very tasty.
