It is basically a buffet style setup where you can load up your plate with a huge variety of dishes. Then it gets boxed and you are charged by weight. Super simple, super convenient, and honestly a great deal. I got a plate and a drink for about 15 dollars. The food was really good. It actually took me back to growing up and coming here, and I am really glad to see the quality is still holding up since I am just in town for a bit. That was a nice surprise. The only downside for me was the boba. Since it is more of a fast casual setup I get it, but the boba pearls were pretty hard so I am not sure if they are made fresh or sitting a bit too long. I absolutely love this place! The food is really good and fresh. Most importantly you serve yourself, no more phantom scoops of beef and chicken. Serve as much of the items you like. Just don't be that person taking the all the meat out of a dish lol. After you stack up your plate you get it weighed and pay by the ounce. A fully loaded plate will cost you around 10$. Basically the price you pay at other places for the plate with the two sides, but like I said here you hook the plates up to your liking. read more

So, Ive been here a few times and I really like the pricing, because the meats are fresh tasting. I dont load up on rice/chow mein here because I like the meats so much. The 50c surcharge is illegal. The key for the restroom is unsanitary and if u provided paper towels, i could give it back to you without touching it. Why wash your hands if you have to touch that awful keyholder and door knob? ALSO, please bring the thai tea, smoothies to our table and not have us get up again to get it. Very bad service. Then ice water cups...You charge for that too. Love this place! You serve yourself the exact amount of food you want. So if you like a lot of one thing you can load up on just that. They weigh your food and charge by the pound. They carry one of my favorite that I usually only find in Chinese food buffets, coconut shrimp. The food was all delicious. This place is like 13 year girl from San Marino who is going through a goth phase. It has two sections, both charged by the pound. One is Asian buffet style food (3.99/lbs) and Mongolian style BBQ with raw ingredients (4.99/lbs) The food is your standard Americanized Asian food. Underwhelming and greasy. It's fun because you get to try everything and it is cheap. But there isn't anything that really stands out....well actually I take that back. The music does. They play country here. Yes...that's right, country music at an Asian restaurant in a Hispanic neighbor hood. They sell water bottles to costumers as they do not provide tap water. I'm not a soda drinker, so the fact that I'm getting charge for a small cup of water is a negative. They don't speak fluent English and I think they need better service. The food was okay and I think it's alright to have control of what you want to serve yourself but they need to make some changes. This place is really delicious. I love the fact that in their chowmain it doesn't have a lot of onion or cabbage. Its really tasty. The chicken teriyaki is delicious as well. They tell me to pick up a box and pick anything I like and weigh it. I was out shopping and received a promotional flyer. Since, I was hungry I decided to try out this new place. I was greeted in a friendly manner. The employee explained the options the restaurant had and I was asked if I would like to sample any particular item... I asked to sample the teriyaki chicken. The teriyaki chicken was cold the employee inform her superior and the employee said their were going to make some more chicken teriyaki. I waited for the new order and was surprised that her superior just mixed the new batch of chicken into the previous batch that was cold. I am no expert but something tells me that once a food item drops below a certain temperature that item should be discarded. In addition the steam white rice was undercooked...I could not eat it but I noticed that the female superior added additional rice and removed only some of the undercooked rice. I noticed a male who was probably either the owner or another manager and I also explained my experience to him and he offered no apology. The moral of my story is that... although a good promotion can get you to a business. A bad execution of a promotion can lead to an extremely bad experience. I will never be back again! read more

It sounded like a cool concept "self-serve Chinese food" it gave off a Chinese buffet vibe although it didn't have many appealing options. I began to serve my food but I began to feel a bit uncomfortable because I just felt the staff staring at me.. kinda strange but I got over it. So I just got chow mein and two other items ( I wasn't trying to pack on the items). I didn't feel like I put a large amount but when I went to scale it was more than I thought it was going to be and I also added on veggie rolls. The price was a turn off, the fact that it was empty at dinner time hours and the staff just staring at me raised some concerns. When I reached for my debit card they mentioned that it was a 50 cent service charge for purchases under $15 (just great I thought). The taste of the food was ok, nothing special. I been living in East Los Angeles my whole life and before Corner Express it used to be a restaurant called Ricks Burgers/Dine-in. Today on 4-15-17 I happen to stop by because I had seen the sign and I like Chinese food, but once I went in there was no customer service. The only reason I knew to serve myself was because I was referred by someone and told me it was a buffet, we did not even get a greeting. Also, we got there and there was no chow mien we had to wait for about 10 minutes for the other batch. Once I paid we did not even get a bag and I got the utensils by myself. I came in around noon during the week to grab some food for myself and my family to go, and found a food selection that was a bit lackluster. I've only been there twice, the first time the girl that was there was very nice it was my first time so she explained everything to me.
