Something made me think about Katz's Delicatessen in NYC and I suddenly craved a Pastrami sandwich…read more I was excited to find Mirchi nearby and a locally beloved pastrami with interesting ingredients. Location is near the Mirchi cafe on Fremont Blvd in the plaza right next to Wonderland smoke shop. There is plenty of parking. Staff was super nice and helped me open the stuck door that you have to pull really hard on to get in. The market is small but curated and I was drawn to the imported potato chips. I picked up a bag of Lay's Masala chips I haven't had since I was in Mumbai, excited to eat it with my sandwich. The sandwich took about 10 minutes to make and panini-press and smelled delicious. However, when I got home I immediately noticed the color and thought they had mistakenly used roast beef. I looked at some of the other reviews and their doordash image and I'm confused on what I got. The pastrami was missing the distinct reddish-pink color from brining and black bark from smoking, I'm not sure how it was prepped in-house but it tasted like roast beef. I did enjoy the blueberry jam and pepperoncini combo.

They are very nice and welcoming, service was pretty fast too. The sandwich is was warm and it's cooked panini style. The bread was warm and crunchy, filled with halal chicken and some sort of mild spicy red sauce. Overall very tasty, solid 8/10. (The sandwich needs be hotter so that the cheese can actually melt). P.s. get their cilantro cream sauce! It's really good and takes the sandwich up a level. The peach soda was $3+ and worth it. Will definitely be back again :)

Corned beef with peperonico and jelly, unique but I wish the corned beef was closer to roasted beef

Big as a Stanley mug, heavy as the Stanley Cup…read more Established in 1891, this second-oldest business in Los Gatos is older than Stanford, Carnegie Hall, Caltech, the Swiss Army knife, Cole Porter, the escalator, and basketball! They are much hyped for monstrous, incredibly layered over-the-top sandwiches with proprietary, house-made marinades, jerky varieties, and custom-smoked meats. Which may explain the lines, long waits, and lack of tables, not in a complainy way. Surprised at myself for not going earlier (the constant Instragram reels adding up), I had to go before I ended my tenth year in San Jose. I got the gutbusting Quad (pastrami, pulled pork, tri-tip, bacon, on a fresh Dutch Crunch). It was too big to eat as a sandwich- it was something you had to manage and attack. Truth is, I couldn't detect the pastrami because it was slathered in tender, lean, bbq meat, nor could I detect the bacon until the sandwich "thinned out" to normal human consumption size, meaning that I ate the meat out through the edges or the contents fell out. It's call quad because you need four napkins per bite.

Both were yummy. When I revisit I'm going to ask for light bbq sauce. My son and I enjoyed our sandwiches but we both commented that they were sauce heavy and lighter spread would've exposed more flavor from the meat. Service was helpful and quick. We were attended to within seconds of arriving. They also have a great selection of smoked sausages and meats. Worth checking out before your next backyard bbq.

Meat Time is one of my favorite Japanese BBQs in the South Bay! The ambiance and decor reminds me…read moreof the funky, retro vibes of an izakaya in Japan, and I really like the authenticity it brought to the restaurant. I've been here a few times and noticed a couple changes to the menu, which now offers a variety of a-la-carte options and AYCE (all you can eat)! There are also combos and happy hour items, so I'm sure there is something for everyone :). Servers are very nice and knowledgable of the menu. They are helpful and made our dining experience great! Food quality is superb, and one of the best qualities of meat for AYCE! Left feeling very full and happy My tips: make a reservation as it can get busy on the weekends.

We decided to go with the premium AYCE for $68 pp. Your party gets to order 2 orders of meat pp to start off with and then it is one order pp per round subsequently. There is the usual 90 min time limit before you're cut off. I have to mention, I'm a big fan of Ushiya so came with preconceptions. First and foremost, meat quality is amazingly good and the portions are large! We actually only got through 2 rounds (3 plates of meat) per person before we were tapping out. The wagyu fried rice was delicious and I enjoy all their appetizers and sides. The home made kimchi, marinated cucumbers, seaweed soup, egg yolk dipping sauce, all delicious! Service got alittle slow when more large parties came but once they were settled with their order, service picked up again. I wish they had a qr ordering system to request items, that is one thing missing. Overall, loved dinner! If you don't mind the price point and want a more higher quality Japanese AYCE grill, this is the place.
