I like the other Atlanta Bread locations but this Smyrna location is poorly operated. As I watched the baker pull my carry out pizza from the oven a cashier walked over to the pizza and laughed about how burnt it was. They still boxed it and handed it to me knowing it was inedible. I used to enjoy this location because of it's friendly staff but it's workers now have negative attitudes and low standards. read more

I got OGLED by one of the employees who CLEARLY did not learn how to be subtle or professional. First, I get called to the counter and in the MIDDLE of my order, the lady at the counter took a PHONE order, and made me start over. WTH?! Now, I get it-it's a lunch place that takes call-in orders. But interrupting is *rude*. Not impressed. But, I WAS willing to forgive and forget, as we are all human... However, as I go to the waiting area for to-go orders, the guy taking food out to people dining in asks how I'm doing while blatantly staring me down-or, more to the point, staring down as much of certain assets as he could see under a SWEATER and jeans. And as I waited, he kept turning back to stare me down. I never felt so uncomfortable in my life, and I'm the chick who will throw a drink in a cad's face, old-school, when needed! I.e., it takes a lot to make me uncomfortable. I couldn't wait to get out of there. Crowning glory-I launched a complaint to corporate, with no response whatsoever. I understand this has nothing to do with the food, which is pretty spiffy for a lunch place, but after that, methinks I will drive further to Panera or Jason's Deli next time I'm jonesing for a chicken salad sammich... Or, get my Atlanta Bread fix at the Woodstock or Marietta locations where the service has been much more pleasant in my experience. read more

I gave it a 2 because I did a call in order expecting to skip a line during lunch time 12/28/18 around 12:30pm. I never ate here, but looking at the yelp reviews, I still gave it a try bc the price was decent. I went in, the line was huge and it looked like it was understaffed. There were 2 cashiers, some cooks in the back, and one lady running around getting an online order together. She saw me off to the side while getting some baked goods, opposite of all the registers. She didn't acknowledge me. I was standing there for a good 3 mins and finally decided to go closer to the kitchen area and saw the third register. I thought to myself this might be the pick order area bc the line is so long and wouldn't make any sense for me to get in line to pay for something I ordered ahead of time. They just need to ring me up, after all I called it in 20mins before coming in. (That's at most restaurants.) nope, I got there. Lady still didn't acknowledge me even after I waited for her to finish up her online order with another customer until I said excuse I'm here for a pick up. She looked annoyed. She asked for my name. I said my name and she was like, "you mean a call in." She got it ready and asked if I paid for it. I said," no?" And she said, "I needed to get in line before picking it up." I was shocked and was like so you want me to get in line after I called it in?" Looking at the register she's standing at and I'm paying with a card! And she saw the line was long and I've already been there for 10mins for a pick up. So it wouldn't even make a difference (I use to work at fast food joint.) it literally took her less than 1 min to swipe my card. I thought it was ridiculous that she made it a Big deal when it really wasn't. She's in front of an empty register. Before leaving she said, "next time do an online order. It'll be easier." Ok? So what's the point of even making phone ins an option if your employees are going to give an attitude about it? I get that some days are harder than others, but I came in and waited patiently, longer than expected for a pick order bc I get how fast food restaurants work. You want a good review and you want ppl to come back, a small simple hello can I help you, and saying things nicely would do the trick. read more

Forgot about this place. With a Panera literally 1/8 mile from me, ABC doesn't get the recognition it deserves. Sure, I don't eat there a lot, but when I do I always am happy. It's located in a very large strip center with numerous places settled in all around, you'd be blind to miss it, right at South Cobb and the EW Connector. Super easy to find, but a little hard to get to thanks to an entrance from South Cobb that's only accessed heading Southbound, otherwise you have to enter the complex from it's far most ends and drive through the other lots to get there. Argh. Parking is good though with lots of spaces for the places around, so you're never in for a long walk. It's big inside and very warm feeling, you'd swear you're in a nice steakhouse from the decor and feel of this place. They've done such a good job at being upscale I fear some people may shy away, thinking they're in the wrong place altogether. Menus is very large, lots of bakery items, coffees, soups, and awesome sandwiches. It's expensive, true, and I think the use of real dishes and silverware are part of that. However there's no wait staff, so why must they charge sooo much? Condiments are even supplied as sides in packets, seems like they could drop a dollar on everything. All that aside, the food is delicious, the soups are so fresh you'd swear they chopped it up right in the back, sandwiches too, but I've found their spring mix often has a little aging to it, like they need to throw it out. The breads are always fresh and tasty and meats and cheeses right off the butcher block. It's a great place for lunch with all the room inside and very cozy even for a date, and I suspect wifi is offered due to the countless people at their laptops. Overall it's a great place to eat, just one that could be a little cheaper. read more

Until a few days ago, my only dining experience with the Atlanta Bread Company was in Hilton Head, South Carolina, since the location in Decatur (where I live) closed last year. My family and I had just finished cycling 20 miles on the Silver Comet Trail, beginning at the Mavell Rd trailhead, and we needed a lunch option with enough choices to please everyone and a casual atmosphere. This particular location was perfect! My mother particularly loved being able to sit by the fireplace and everyone was happy with their respective meals and the aesthetic quality of their presentation. I commented to my mother how much I liked the bowl in which my balsamic bleu salad arrived, and she went up to the counter and asked if she could purchase one. The employee gave it to her for free! I don't expect to be in the Smyrna area too often, but next time I am, and if I'm hungry, I'll definitely stop here. read more

The place is very nice looking and has hipster appeal, but the food is a microwaved mess. I went in for lunch and purchased the turkey club sandwich (panini). The bread appeared to be toasted but was limp, and the bacon was not crispy at all. It is my belief that the bacon was definitely microwaved as it lacked color and crispness, possibly the whole sandwich as well. It was a hot mess that did not taste appealing at all!. I deduce that the after the sandwich was pressed, it was then thrown into the microwave (which is what it tasted like) or steamed to hell. This place isn't worth it to me to visit again. This place is so convenient - I really want them to do better. I went to the bank next door early one morning before heading to the office. Starving, I went next door for coffee and a bagel. Couldn't take more than 10 mins, right? Wrong!!! There were two people ahead of me in line, one of which at the register. Clearly the patron ordering was a regular because she and the clerk talked casually for over 10 mins while we waited for service. Initially it appeared that there was only one person working. Finally, a few others came out from the back and a gentleman took my order. Again, I ordered a coffee (which is self serve) and a bagel double toasted. I sware to you that he pushed at least 60-70 buttons on the register. He even apologized that it took so many buttons to get this order. I make my coffee. It was hot. The supplies were all there and full. I get my bagel and fly out the door. Deeeeepest of deep sighs.... my bagel was NOT double toasted it was luke warm. I'm giving them two stars out of generosity and because they were very nice people. However, EVERYONE knows that before work and lunch hours are all about getting in and out quickly. Nice vibe, free wifi, can go in and do some work while having a nice lunch or dinner. The food options are plenty. The staff is nice and accommodating. Some of their seasonal dishes aren't very good maybe that's why they are seasonal but that's what life is about - trying new things. I would review menu online bf going in bc of the # of options. This will help avoid you being the person holding up the line during lunch. I tried this cold noodle dish with lettuce and carrots and radish. Would have tasted better with some rice even if rice was cold. Wouldn't order again. Pastas can sometimes be dry even with sauce so ask for Xtra sauce. read more

Terrible food, ok service. Went in on a Sunday morning just after 10 and the place was empty, this should have been our clue. It took about 10 minutes to get our to-go order, which would have been fine if the place was busy, but they were dead! We ordered two turkey sausage and egg bagels to go, one on whole grain, one on everything, because there were only 5 bagel options (thought this was a bakery?). These are $5 each. The "everything" bagel was nothing but poppy seeds and sesame seeds. Bagels weren't toasted and tasted like they were left over from yesterday or day before. Turkey sausage was a frozen patty thrown in the microwave. The egg may have been the only thing made to order. I've never had great experiences at any Atlanta Bread restaurant but expected better than this. Could have gotten a better sandwich for half the price at McDonald's. This is a review of the Smyrna, GA store. It is convenient to me and I try to eat salmon once a week, so go there for the Balsamic Salad with salmon. I always ask that the salad dressing be put on the salad (NOT THE SIDE, ON THE SALAD, I say.) Never happens. This ruins my dining experience. DONT EAT HERE!!! ROACHES!!! I decided to have a business lunch meeting at this restaurant, and will never return. While sitting in a booth facing away from the counter, my lunch guest (facing the counter) said " Big roaches just fell from the ceiling." I asked her to repeat what she said because I couldn't believe what I heard. She then said "And fell on the counter." I immediately turned around to witness the manager (who was on the customer side of the counter) and the associate (on the opposite side of the counter) staring at us. They were obviously trying to see if we witnessed the giant roaches falling from the ceiling. At that point, the manager took a broom and swept the roaches off the counter onto the floor falling beside the associate. The associate then stomped on the roaches. It was like they had a planned method to the madness. It was like a scene out of a movie where you look down at your empty plate and wonder???? I will never return to this place! This was the first time in years since I'd visited Atlanta Bread over Panera, but honestly, I will go back to eating at Panera. This made me nervous and DISGUSTED! read more

Ordered an omelet (comes with potatoes) and a sesame seed bagel. Bagel came out first and it was an Asiago bagel, which I mentioned to the server. She insisted it was sesame, but I pointed out the absence of seeds and the presence of cheese. She took it back and brought me a sesame seed (which was covered in sesame seeds so I'm not sure what the confusion was). Omelet came out without a fork. Went to the counter for a fork and got plastic, which wasn't a huge deal but just kind of odd to use with the metal knife. I love this chain, but this location is only so so. I've been here six times. Twice they brought only a fork and once only a knife when I ordered soup. I don't know if this was a joke, or a mistake, or they just don't care. Each time the piece of baguette on the side was either dry or flat out stale. Sandwiches were ok, but once they put very little meat and another time the meat was shredded, not sliced and smelled funny. Several people apparently use this location as their personal office.. Free WiFi is good, but maybe there needs to be a time limit on it. If I wanted to have lunch at the office, I'll save money and eat at work. Also the manager seems to have a chip on her shoulder, and this location doesn't seem as clean as the others I've been to. I love Atlanta Bread Co, but this one is meh.. and kind of disappointing for the price. read more

Too bad you can't give a "0" or "minus" stars rating. First time eating there in several years. Got the ABC on rye. The person who brought my food to the table also brought a napkin which was very spotted; looked like grease stains as though someone's food had sat on it. The picture on the menu looks to be about two inches thick between the bread, but mine MAY have been 1/4-1/2 inch, and out of all the meats supposedly on it, much of the thickness was only cheese, lettuce and onions - it did not even have a full coverage of meat, even though it was only less than 1/2 inch thick combined. It's a good thing I opened the sandwich to see what was on it since it looked pretty much like bread with lettuce in between, because upon opening it, I found hair. When I closed it back up and moved it on the plate to make room to open the other half, I found hair under the sandwich on the plate as well. I didn't bother opening the other half. I took the meal back to the counter and asked for my money back, which was refunded after giving ME some lousy looks as though I had done something wrong. As I was hitting the front door, I realized the manager had only refunded $7.20 of the $9.20 I paid for the sandwich - I guess he held out his profit. I didn't bother to go back to the counter to ask for my other $2 - I figure that's a small price to pay to get such good information on the first trip. Even without the hair, the sandwich was a joke - there were literally a few nickel to quarter sized 1/4 inch thick pieces of meat next to some cheese and lettuce and onions - nowhere near a passable sandwich, much less a "multi-meat" sandwich. Don't waste your time, your health or your money. read more
