We couldn't have asked for a better auto buying experience! We did all of the negotiating over the phone with Ahmed for a Volkswagen Jetta, and they beat out all the other local dealers on price. When we arrived we met with Meech who stayed with us for the whole process. We went for a relatively long test drive and we drove out with our new car in a few hours. We decided to go with the financing they secured. It was a bit more(0.34%) than our bank, but it allowed us to drive out with the car that day. Frank, the finance manager, was straight with us and didn't try to upsell anything. Overall the process was friendly, smooth and painless. I would never purchase a used car from Atlantic Auto Group for several reasons. Let me begin, we purchased a 2021 Toyota Highlander and paid in cash. Upon leaving with the bill of sale and temporary tags, the salesperson set up appt. for some spot repairs and hopefully get the tags. On the service day, I went early before work and the salesperson was not due in until 9am. So the "job" was not set up, nor was a loaner car available. When I picked up my car, the corrective work was not done and I need to reschedule...and I did. Only for the repairs not to be done again. So, the salesperson set up the 3rd appt. for the tire repair with an outside company. I dropped off the car and it was NOT done again-very disappointing. The forth and final time it was repaired by the original person. But it's not over, it is Day 79 and I still do not have a Title or Tags for the car...this is exhausting and insane. They lack communication and continue to pass the blame around. I will definitely be seeking a lawyer and will update later. read more

I was quoted $150 to do diagnostic on my Volvo XC90, I thought I would give them a try since they sent me a post card, stating they could work on my car, that I did not have to go the Volvo garage. I was charged $221.13, with no diagnosis, plus he presented me with a long list of what he considered needed repairs. Everything from fluids to shocks. I did not ask him for this service. The reason for my trip to Atlantic Auto Group was for a great price listed on the internet for a 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I was completely interested in buying this Jeep. After test driving and started to talk numbers, the number was about $6000 than the internet price. When I brought it to their attention there was no discussion of the internet price again. They continued to pressure me to sign to a deal regardless of the fact that I explained I need a cosigner/father's permission. They were trying to take advantage of me as I'm a young female, car shopping alone. When we returned with my father the next day and started discussing numbers, they came back again about $6000 higher than the internet price. Long story short, they made a mistake online, would not honor the online price, and changed the price the next morning. Had my car towed in after breaking down in AC, My car sat in the shop for several weeks with no one even looking at it, I had to rent a car, and get it towed back up to North Jersey. Yesterday I saw on their website that they have a "quick lane" for fast oil changes without an appointment so today I drove 30 minutes to get my oil changed. I walked in the service door which is flanked on both sides by signs advertising the "quick lane" service. Wynn who seemed nice enough ask me what I needed so I said I was there for the "quick lane" oil change. He said "we don't have a quick lane", I said it says you do on your website. He responded with they have tried to remove it but have not been able too. But I'm sure they can add and delete cars everyday. I want the car, I'm ready to buy. confirmed with the person I spoke with again to move the appt that the auto trader price is the correct price and would be honored. drive 2.0 hours to dealer. arrive. car is out front. FILTHY. clearly hasn't been washed in MONTHS paint feels like sandpaper and there is staining everywhere. we are talking about a 40k+ vw GOLF R my wife is already furious. I keep calm. nothing a good detail can't fix... I look past it and they offer a test drive. great... get in the car. fuel is EMPTY dash indicates 5 mi till empty. I said its ok im not driving more than 5 miles on a test drive. all good. test drive goes well. get back to dealer. salesman has a credit app and a worksheet. said that the price on auto trader is wrong and cannot be honored. speak with sales manager. hes been there 2 weeks. wont give business card. says the same thing. told him id like to speak to the GSM or GM. next guy approaches and wants to talk. I asked if we can speak privately in an office. we go in the back. Leased a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee from here and all was great! Then after my lease was up and I wanted to buy it out they dealer tried to break our contracted price by 6,000! Our price when I signed the lease was 21,000, he came back with 27,000 was the best he could do. So I called my Dad to come pick me up because I wasn't going to pay that after I signed the contract stating it was 21,000. Very quickly, once I was on the phone, it was again 21,000. Reluctantly I still bought the vehicle because it was basically brand new. I know how I took care of it and didn't wanna risk buying a used car and putting more into it then I paid. At first, they tried to charge more for the used vehicle than for a brand new one, but we beat them in that game and I was eventually able to get the Jeep for the price I wanted. My brother brought his Wrangler to get serviced here, and they somehow managed to lose his key. They issued a replacement key, but the chip inside was not a correct match and ended up destroying his steering column so that his car wouldn't turn off. When we brought it back, they refused to accept fault and tried to charge $3,000 to fix it. Since we don't have the time or money to afford a lawyer to rectify the matter, we brought it elsewhere to be fixed (for a fraction of the price). This dealer yelled at me and stole my money. What happened to me is simple. I came in and asked for a specific car with EVERY additional package and option it could have. They asked me to put down a $500 deposit that I could get back if there was a problem. They said they had found the car elsewhere but they could get it for me. The car they got was missing some very important safety features which were part of a big technology package. When I said I didn't want the car they yelled at me as If it was my fault. They convinced me to keep the wrong car. That night it rained and the roof started leaking. I brought the car back. They kept my $500. A nice young man asked me to take a seat then referred me to another older salesmen who lamented about how busy they were and short staffed. I expressed my understanding. I told him I was there to take my first test drive on a new vehicle and that my lease was not due to be turned in for two more months. He asked if he could take care of the lease and get me into a car today. I nicely explained that I did not have time today and just wanted to see if I wanted to lease a new vehicle or buy a preowned. He mansplained that I cannot buy a lease. I know that as I have bought 8 cars alone all by my little self! I said I was not able to take the time to buy today due to my children - I just wanted to drive it. NEWSFLASH! Busy moms have limited time. Oh wait, did I just mansplain that? He asked THEN if I had an appointment; I said I did not. He lowered his eyes to me and told me it was a little busy today for me to come in for that (like I was bothering him...the salesman...ummm ok). I reexplained my position and he turned away from me while I was still talking to him. I walked out. This is how this auto group acted in 1998 (ex's car), 2003 (shopping only; bought elsewhere due to attitude) and today. Follow up to my poor experience at South Shore Hyundai Valley Stream Service Dept. My car was released on Saturday where the recall was supposed to be completed and a multi point check was done stating the the car was in perfect condition and nothing needed to be addressed or done to the car. I then needed to drive the car a far distance which I attempted the next morning and if I thought my nightmare was the week before while they had the car I was in for a rude awakening. I got as far as the through way upstate and exactly what I was trying to avoid the car shut off mid driving which we could have been killed by the traffic. I was able to role to the side of the road where when we opened the hood smoke was coming from the engine and oil leaking. I paid for a tow truck to take the car off the parkway to New Rouchelle Hyundai were they refused to help. Then the service manager at Valley Stream got a tow truck taking it to there office on Monday. When the tow truck company picked up the car no discussion was had just he was taking the car to dealership. Fast forward dealership then calls and states they don't know why but now I need a new radiator and battery which makes no sense almost 2000.00 in repairs, my tow fees I paid already plus uber fees from upstate home to Long Island. when I was told this I told them to not touch the car because it makes no sense after only a recall situation the car now has all these issues which were not seen in the multi point check that was done prior to car being released on the Saturday. Then when I towed the car back to my house it's making a crazy noise and not able to be driven. How are these companies able to get away with not taking and kind of ownership when they are wrong and to make it worst then lied on the paperwork that a conversation was had between myself and the tow truck company about the damage which the gentlemen confirmed he never had a conversation about the vehicle. Very disturbing is that I now have to sue them for me to get any satisfaction in the situation. I would never purchase from Hyundai because they make sure there is no accountability and leave the customer out in the dark. I went from a running vehicle with no other issues other that the recall to a car inoperable in my driveway. The sealant was supposedly applied but the warranty which they said would be sent to me was never delivered.
