Very poor methods of providing service quotes, estimates, and obtaining customer consent before performing expensive services. There is apparently no formal, documentable process available from this business -- in the post-COVID year 2021, mind you -- for providing service details ahead of time...not by physical paper, not in email, not in text message. Phone scheduler personnel has poor communication skills; uses automotive terminology loosely and in a confusing manner; does not provide accurate $ estimates when asked. For example, says "do the brakes" instead of being specific about what actual part(s) of the entire brake system are to be serviced. On-site manager has absolutely NO business handling customer-service nor interpersonal matters; is a smug, small man with ZERO soft skills; manager allows other employees to verbally abuse customers. How the owners of this business allow this lack-luster crew to run the day-to-day operation of his business is a great mystery. Due to all of the above, I was charged $1,500 for not only services I did NOT want, but **services that did NOT need to be performed at the time**. Then to top it off, I was berated by the manager, in public, accused of having a bad attitude and called a LIAR to my face. Let me say how delighted I am with the service I have gotten with Atlantic Autowerks. I have had my BMW since 2005. I always took my cars to the dealer for servicing. I've had several foreign cars. I thought the dealer was the best fit for the service on these cars. Well, I have forever changed my opinion since being referred to Atlantic Autowerks. The gentlemen there have exceeded my exceptions over the last 10 years as a client. They have never done anything to my car that didn't need to be done. They have always had my best interest in fixing my car. I have roughly 186,000 miles on the car. It runs like a bullet! I expect to get many more years with this car, as well. I do believe this is because of the level of service and care the car has gotten there with them. The staff has always been caring, even when they weren't profiting. That goes a long way! If you are ever in the market for the rare and elusive honest mechanic... look no further. Steve and team went above in beyond from the get go. They had a tough job with my old 3 series as well. It had been sitting fir three years waiting for my son to save up enough to get it running again. It had dry rot galore and I was under no illusions that it would be a big job. These guys were so upfront about it. They didn't sugarcoat anything. But they did it in a professional way. I explained that it was for my son and he had limited means. So when something went sideways as they tend to do Steve sourced me a used part to help cushion the blow. We were able to get everything done that needed to get done and they gave me a to do list for what we will need down the road. Let me tell you of how thrilled I am with the fantastic service that I received at Atlantic Autowerks. I have had my BMW for only 2 weeks. The Check Engine fault light came on and I needed a good BMW or foreign car Shop to take a look at it. I thought of the BMW Dealerships, but I knew they would be over the top expensive. I got a proposed diagnostic fee of $493.33 from a shop that I will not name. A good friend recommended Atlantic Autowerks who diagnosed and repaired my BMW for $264.58. The man at the front desk was very professional and courteous. What happened next greatly exceeded my exceptions. The service guys took my BMW into the shop, ran a scan and pinpointed the problem in no time flat. Can't say enough good things about these guys. The other week I took my 3 series there for a light bulb replacement. Checkered Flag BMW was going to charge me $230 because the bulb I was replacing was "trickier" to get to than some. So I rang Atlantic Autowerks. They told me to stop on by and they'd take a look at it. I had no appointment with them. That didn't matter. One of the men from the front desk stopped what he was doing came out to the parking lot and performed the swap right there. CF BMW was right. It was indeed "trickier" to get to. I have been a customer of Atlantic Autowerks for 15 years. The team has never left me unimpressed. They are friendly, very knowledgeable in current and more classic BMWs. They have worked with me to get OEM or original equipment parts and have installed parts I have supplied. I prefer to do my own wrenching, but when time or capabilities warrant, I enthusiastically utilize these folks. Dealer quality but with real personable interaction, no free loaner or car wash, but you do not pay for those "perks" either.
