Great. I brought my 2013 Tacoma truck in to have a possible oil leak checked out. No leak was found but a few recommendations were noted for normal maintenance. I agreed to a couple of recommendations now with the intention of doing the other recommended services in 6 months. I was charged for the recommended service I agreed to and was not charged for the diagnostic service to detect a leak which was very nice of them. Then I drive to literally any other repair shop that does state inspections and never once have I ever been rejected. They will try to make a buck on you saying everything is wrong with your vehicle when it's really not. It happened again, hey we are both social security eligible this year, stuff doesn't happen. He said my tags and inspection expired. I walked out to the garage where my Pontiac G6 lives, last of the Pontiacs, he was right. Apparently he gets the e-mail alerts and doesn't tell me. My 09 car has 48900 miles, I don't drive much. Pulled into Protime, only a few miles from my house and Robyn asked if I could drop it off in the am. No problem. After I dropped it off I got a thank you e-mail. Later I got a full description e-mail that there were no problems and I could pick it up. Then I got a phone call that it was all good. $16.00! We both tucked their cards into our wallets in case AAA had to tow our cars. read more

I was once a loyal customer. I had most major jobs on vehicles done with this shop. I was treated like family now since they have new manager Harvey, he does not call you back to provide updates, my state inspection was too painful. In addition the manager did not honor my service discount card. I will no longer go to this shop. I advice all readers to do the same. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I went in for an inspection and they came to me with a detailed list on what needed to be done. Not only do they talk to you about it in person, they also email and text you a link that provides a very detailed list of everything right and wrong with your vehicle. They include photos, videos and recommended treatments. They weren't pushy on what needed to get done either. They showed me all I needed to get my truck to pass inspection and then tell me what they recommend for top performance. I will be a returning customer. read more

I took my vehicle in for a state inspection. They politely told me everything that needed repair including items that did not impact state inspection. That's ok - at least I know what needs attention. I do the majority of all my vehicle repairs. I am downgrading a four star rating because the technician pulled off my smart device holder on the dash and didn't inform me. Luckily it was sticky enough to reattach it to the dashboard. They also gave me a printed list of repair items. Sometimes I believe the state inspections get too picky for items that don't impact safety on the highway. I understand brakes and steering are safety related but a tiny pinhole leak in the exhaust- I don't get it. We don't conduct emissions test in Virginia read more

Brought my 87 Suburban there because it turned off while running. They said they couldn't find anything wrong with it and it started for them every time. Paid over $220 for "nothing found". I picked it up and it died on me leaving the parking lot. Luckily it started back up and I made it home because I live in the neighborhood behind them. Maybe I should've walked back in, but I was mad because if what they charged me and I didn't want to give them anymore money. It didn't start again once I got it home. Had it towed to another shop and within 30 minutes of being dropped off they found the problem. A loose injector hose, causing air flow into the system. Protime had it for 2 days minimum. Definitely feel robbed. I have 2 neighbors that told me I should have never taken it there, based on their experiences. I went because it was convenient. read more

Initially my husband and I brought our cars to Protime because of Groupons for oil changes. The experience was pleasant, nothing overly special--I made an appointment, showed up on time, they quickly changed my oil and rotated my tires and I went on my way. On that experience alone, I would've given them 4 stars (I appreciate timeliness). The extra star comes from a more recent experience. My car was recalled for a basic computer system upgrade by Honda. I brought it to Hall Honda where they took the liberty to do a quick check-up on my vehicle. Maybe because I was a woman by myself on a Wednesday morning, but the service manager came to me with a list of things he felt "needed" to be done. One of which included a cracked drive belt, not something I wanted to hear about a car I've only had 9 months nor something I actually believed. I remembered I was just at Protime a month ago so I had my husband call them while I waited at Hall. They said they could get me in ASAP and see what was up. Hall finished up the recall item and I drove carefully over to Protime (I was a bit freaked about the drive belt). Protime finished up an appointment on a different car then took my car in to go over the vehicle inspection checklist. Everything came back normal. They assured me I wasn't crazy, my car wouldn't explode on the way home and I didn't need to spend the $700 Hall quoted me (in fairness, $400 was for the 30k check-up). Best of all, Protime looked over my car for free. I'm assuming that's not normal but it was definitely appreciated after spending the previous 3 hours thinking my car was going to be draining my savings account. I definitely will take my car back when it actually does need some work although I hope that's not anytime soon. read more

They were too busy for me. I was recommended to come here from automotive consultants for an alignment. I made an appointment, arrived on time, and was told that they did not have time. They rescheduled me, but this time I called before coming. They didn't have time again. I was rescheduled the next day. Same thing. This time they told me they'll call me when they do have time. They never called me. Like Automotive Consultants, they have that family-operated feel, probably wouldn't rip you for large repairs, but it seems they're too busy for a measly alignment. I believe the main problem is that the shop can't handle appointments that require the alignment rack. This place is probably fine if you can drop your car off, but that was not a choice for me. This is the worst business i have ever had to deal with the manager continually lied about repairs did everything he could to find a reason for the vehicle not to pass inspection tried to say headlight assembly was broken which it wasn't it was missing 2 screws which i reinstalled and made the head secure no different than the other light took it back and still insisted that it had to be replace over 200 dollars basically had no inspection been threw this before its a scam to force every dollar out of your pocket never will i or anyone i know do business with protime read more

Had excellent service here a couple of weeks ago. I had been out and about running some errands and steam started coming out from under my hood. After pulling over and waiting for it to dissipate I discovered a big crack in my radiator housing. Once I coaxed my vehicle home I did some online research for radiator repair / replacement and came across Protime. I was able to get an online quote through the site I was using, and then called them up and they came close to matching it that I decided to use them for my repair. The gentleman I spoke to on the phone was very friendly and knowledgeable as well. I had my car towed over to them and was able to pick it up the next afternoon less than 24 hours after dropping it off. Pretty stoked about that. Everything has been smooth sailing since then. Took my vehicle to Protime earlier based upon recommendation of friend and returned recently with myriad of issues: air conditioning, window mechanism not raising window and engine running rough. The hard one was the rough running engine which was the most difficult to troubleshoot as engine electrical problems usually are. I will return to Protime because not only was my vehicle repaired I have come to trust Protime for the fair and professional manner in which I have been treated. I have never given an auto repair establishment a high rating but glad to do so with Protime as they have earned my trust. They are in business to make money but manage to do so with respect for their customers by dealing fairly with them. I do recommend Protime Virginia Beach (which is closer to where I live). read more

Their customer service and technical knowledge are second to none. I dropped my car off knowing it would be a while as I was getting quite a bit of stuff done - new tires, alignment, oil change, and state inspection. I told the gentleman at the desk I would walk home as its only a mile or two, but they offered to give me a ride which I graciously accepted. I am not really sure what to think about this repair shop. I am a retired A.S.E and Chrysler Master Technician. I was a Virginia State Safety Inspector from 1972 until retiring in 2015. I have a 1993 Dodge Caravan (110,000) miles that I use to tow my Jon boat. The car is driven less than 600 miles between annual inspections. I am due for another safety inspection so I thought I would try out this repair shop (I have four other late model vehicles in my household). Upon arriving at "Protime" I asked about the procedure to get an inspection. One of the employee's in a mechanic shirt instructed me to "go see the girl inside", he then told me "But that thing (referring to my van) won't pass inspection with the front end being higher than he has seen before" ??. Later another mechanic came out and the two talked and the second mechanic asked "what's wrong with it ?, as long as the lights are adjusted properly it should be OK". This van has heavy duty suspension front struts and rear shocks. The headlights were adjusted when the suspension work was done and also the front end was aligned. This shop may well be a great place to do business with, BUT before retiring I spent 10 years with the Marine Corp Community Services. My job was to insure active and retired military and their dependents were treated fairly when having their vehicles repaired. The first impression I had with this shop was not what I expected and it's sad. I live less than a mile from Protime and I will never make the mistake of stopping there again. read more

Had to take my cars in for a safety inspection. They were able to get me in same day. My car ended up needing a part replaced on the exhaust. They gave me an estimate to do the work, but told me to check out another place that only works on exhausts because it would be cheaper. I appreciated their honesty, and as a result I knew I would go back as I needed other work on my car. Customer service was great each time I went in and they offer a military discount. I took my 1999 Cadillac Deville to Protime Auto to have a radiator replace. After the radiator was replaced, I rode around with the car locally and it was fine. I drove to Hampton with the car and it ran hot while on the bridge going to Hampton. I had it towed to a service center in Hampton and after they looked at it, I was told that whoever replaced the radiator did not hook the fan up and this caused the car to run hot. I confronted Protime concerning the issue and they kept the car for two weeks only to tell me that they could not repair it because the head gasket was damaged. I felt it was damaged due to the radiator not properly installed. I have never returned to this place and would never recommend it to anyone. read more

Most recently, my wife ran over a curb and damaged a tire. We were going out of town and I was desperate to get it replaced. They rep[laced my tire and did a service on the vehicle while I waited. Do not take your vehicle here!!! They will give you your vehicle back with more problems then when you dropped it off. Then they will tell you it's not their fault or their problem. They will charge you the same as any other mechanic shop but they get their parts from pick and pull. If you have the time and a little mechanical ability you might as well attempt to do your own shade tree work. read more
