Came here for a sweet treat on our Maine vacation. Located in the middle of the quaint business district of Rockland, ABC was one of our tastier treasure finds. I had the Lamington (an Australian sponge cake dessert) which was like a cloud melting in my mouth. The ginger molasses cookie was perfect. This mom & pop bakery is located on Main Street, set in between several art galleries and directly across the street from the Farnsworth Art Museum. Although they appear serious about their breads (check out their impressive website) they also sell a good mix of other goods such as cupcakes, croissants, cookies, muffins, and sandwiches. Unfortunately when I visited the girl behind the counter said they sold a lot of items earlier in the day so the glass counter looked a little sparse. I'm OK with that because I prefer bakeries sell off everything at the day's end rather than keep things around for days. It guarantees freshness. Inside there is plenty of seating, restrooms are clean, and some good old fashioned people watching can be performed if you pick the right spot near a window. read more

Open during the "state shutdown" (pandemic) offering curbside pickup, delivery, or in-store takeout. They have put up glass shields between the customers and the servers and you can pay by credit card without handing anyone your card. Good job Atlantic Baking! The maple buns are like a marriage between a Parisian and a lobster woman from Bath. That's sounds weird and wrong but it's a good marriage and the buns are seriously great. The rest is good to average. But the whole croissant plus syrup thing is sublime. read more

Yummy bakery in downtown Rockland. Chocolate croissant was very scrumptious. A bit dry with minimal chocolate, but still very tasty and fresh. Regular croissant was also dry, but flaky and flavorful. Nice bakery with so many treats to try. The ordering system is a bit confusing. There is one line to order and get your items and then you have to back out of the line to go and pay in a separate line. The food is always delicious here and rarely do I feel guilty eating it. Their salads are even more affordable and just as delicious as their sandwiches, which are Made on delicious bakery bread from the bakery. I like the salads because you can choose little cups of dressing and croutons (also homemade!). And the pizza is always a great choice as well! Sometimes it can be slightly soggy but I'd still eat it anytime! And of course the baked goods are good, especially the chocolate dipped macaroons :) read more

This is my favorite bakery to go to in Rockland. Their vegan sandwich is absolutely delicious - with roasted garlic. Veggie sandwich is delicious too - cheese and crunchy shredded carrots what an interesting combination. The bread is mouthwatering. read more

Don't delay ordering if you want to enjoy a cinnamon roll -- we shared the last one, and there was quite a line of disappointed customers after us. The products are 5 stars, the service is 2 stars, so there you have...a four star review. The shop is really open and clean. The products are nicely displayed. The windows into the baking area are a nice touch. The coffee bar could be set up better, with more organization, and not just kind of in the middle of the store. The young staff ladies behind the counter were disinterested to the point that a baker came out and took our order. One of them finally cashed us out, with a snooty attitude. This is Rockland, not Camden, and if you don't want a job, there are plenty of people that will take it, ladies. read more

I love this place. It somehow feels both homey and special. I've never had a bad experience in the many times I've been (unless you count the times my kids have been rowdy, but that's not ABCo's deal). I'm itching to redecorate the interior, but it's always clean, the staff are attentive and kind, and the food is wonderful, so I'm not going to split hairs. I love their breakfast sandwiches, the pulled pork sandwich and the cheese danish, but their breads are gorgeous, too. Stopped in for a light lunch while in Rockland - great soups, I had the jalapeño corn chowder. The chowder was made with fresh corn, and was incredibly substantial. Good fresh brewed iced tea as well - friendly staff, and you can donate part of your check to an initiative they have that allows the less fortunate to stop in for a meal without being humiliated. We went back the next morning for coffee, and I was pleasantly surprised by the variety of gluten free baked goods.
