Loved this place!…read more When we walked in, it looked like the bartender was running the whole place. She greeted people, told them to sit wherever there's a spot and took orders. She even had time to chat with us in between doing everything. We ordered a dozen oysters and they were so good we debated getting more... a bit pricey but definitely worth it. We still think about the Nitro beer months later. This place was such a hole in the wall. It was busy and had a fast environment but was overall great. I would come back here.

Crazy people crowded the top deck and spent hours out in the cold...I wouldn't do that. The second deck is kind of stuffy and you have to watch mostly from inside. The first deck is where it's at. If you sit at the windows of the forward section on the Friendship V, there are not benches outside the windows as there are with the back half of the deck. So you get a nice clear view unless someone stands along the rail. Most of your time will be spent cruising. We were out for 3 1/2 hours. We probably spent 45 minutes actually watching whales and other animals. On the way to the boat we grabbed breakfast next door at the Sunrise Cafe to take on the ship and while the reviews were very good, the food and price weren't worth it and they are definitely charging tourist extortion prices. Either get up earlier and go somewhere else or eat at your hotel before hand. If you plan to ride on the top deck you will need to bring all kinds of warm weather clothing. Sitting inside while underway is the way to do it. I was in a t-shirt most of the day and would throw on a light zip up hoodie to go outside when they found a whale or something interesting. But the people who stayed outside had to bundle up quite a bit. It was 75 in Bar Harbor but 55 on the water and even colder when the ship was moving close to 30mph. It covered almost 80 miles during our voyage. By the end most of the people that ran, yes, they literally ran to the top to sit shoulder to shoulder with strangers...they all came inside. I don't think that would have been possible on a more crowded ship. The first thing they spotted was a pod of dolphins. Then the saddest thing happened. We came upon an injured juvenile humpback whale. He couldn't dive and had a huge injury and was practically dying before our eyes. All my life I have been waiting to see a humpback whale and when I finally did it was super sad. They found some fin whales later that kept diving and coming up in groups and that was cool to see. Definitely bring binoculars or rent them. They are $20 to rent and you must leave your ID with them so they know you'll return them at the end. We also got to see some remote lighthouses which had a bald eagle and some seals or walrus hanging out in the water...can't remember which species. You could barely see their shape since they were far away and their color was close to the rocks. I included a picture of the on board menu for snacks and drinks. They are quite reasonable. The bathrooms start off nice and clean and get progressively festival porta-potty like as the voyage progresses....I guess it's hard to not make a mess when the boat was rocking and rock it does! We didn't even have high seas or bad seas and it moves a ton. Bring dramamine or take it before you leave if you think you might need it. Lots of people throwing up on our trip and you can't escape the sound. You're welcome to bring snacks and drinks and I recommend it since you don't know how long you're going to be out. All in all it was a great trip and each one is like drawing cards. The trips after ours saw way better wildlife but you just never know what you're going to see so just take the chance and go. Completely worth it and very reasonably priced at around $90/adult.

The tour was very informative and important to the history of Acadia. Travel tip: It was super cool to have walked ocean path in the morning, then get an alternate view from the boat soon after!

The fries are also perfectly cooked with a good crisp on the outside, but still fluffy potato in the middle. They then went the extra step and have house-made tartar sauce and slaw to go with it. It's a simple dish in concept, but this place goes the extra mile to make you something that's both delicious and worth coming back for. The dining room is on the smaller side, so if you have a large party it would be a good idea to call ahead and make a reservation to be sure there's a place for your entire group when you get there. I came a little later in the evening (maybe around 7pm) and found it to be pleasantly quiet, though not empty. I was greeted quickly by the owner and seated quickly. I also found the staff to be pleasant and fun to chat with while I waited for my food (I sat at the bar). It's also worth noting they have a full bar and a good choice of local draft beer to choose from.

Hey, man! So, we rolled up to this joint after checking out the other spot 'cause they were talking about all these experimental and small batch brews they had, right? We were all stoked, thinking we'd hit the jackpot with some mind-blowing beers they didn't have at the main place. But guess what, man? They only had, like, two beers different from the other joint! It was basically the same beer list! Bummer, dude! First up was this Irish Stout, and let me tell you, it was just...meh. Totally mediocre, man. Nothing to write home about, ya know? And then there was this Dad Jokes IPA brewed with Idaho 7. Gotta be honest, it was subpar, dude. I mean, we're trying to be nice, but let's just say it didn't hit the mark, man. Anyway, our crew of craft beer enthusiasts was on the hunt for some serious brews, but both locations let us down, man. It was like a parade of below average to average beers. We were hoping for greatness, but instead, we got mediocrity in a glass, bro. Now, don't get me wrong, the atmosphere itself was pretty cool, and the waitstaff was super friendly. Like, they were the highlight of the whole experience, man. This place had the potential to be killer, but those beers, dude, they need some serious improvement. Like, they gotta step up their brewing game, man, 'cause right now, it's just not cutting it. So, unless they start bringing the real deal when it comes to brews, I'd say pass on this place, man. Tidbit! If you're chasing that blueberry ale for the blueberry, manage your expectations now. Frankly, manage your expectations for this spot which felt more like a space for tourists to snag decent beers and food. (Spoiler? We normally like Atlantic Brewing, and felt like the food and drinks here were flat.) The space almost makes up for our disappointment. The rooftop is spacious, every table umbrella'd against whatever the sky's doing, and even the indoor upstairs leans into big open windows that romanticize a cloudy day. We went around noon on an overcast day and had the place mostly to ourselves... which, in retrospect, was maybe a sign to move along. The blueberry ale mussels arrived giant, but the blueberry promise was a no-show. Heartbreaking, given the name. The haddock fish and chips skewed crisp and golden, more fish chip than the tasty deep-fried slab we'd gotten at another spot. The prosciutto panino was flat, cheesy in a forgettable way, nothing that demanded a second bite. On tap were one IPA, a couple of chocolatey stouts, and a ton of ales; this was solid but unremarkable. Service was attentive and warm throughout, the kind that almost rescues a meal on its own? But it is a normally great brewery. In this location though, the beers and the food just felt off. Come for the rooftop. Order carefully. read more

There are alot of problems here- egregious lack of TVs on the deck, very uneven distribution of bees/hornets - some places have too many, while others have none at all. The restaurant could definitely benefit from a periscope or two near the stairs. Bartenders are good but could certainly speed up the water pouring. Not as good as Pine Hill location. Still, am giving 5 stars because it was very interesting to watch the busboy with the plaids (I think I overheard that he is pursuing a degree as a professor of some sorts) break glasses behind the bar. read more

He appeared to hit it out of the park with Marsh Island's Pulp Tandems. Listening to him help another customer showed his extensive knowledge of Maine beer. Caveat: Many IPAs were stored outside the refrigerator. Make sure to check cans for a brew date.
