This place is so charming and old school diner/ice cream parlor vibe. I came Sunday afternoon. The line wasn't too bad. The service was excellent. The girls at the counter taking the orders were very patient and friendly. I ordered the Nutalal ice cream which is Nutella flavored ice cream. Although we waited about 10 mins for them to make the ice cream, it was well worth it. The ice cream was not overly sweet. It had a wonderful, subtle Nutella flavor. It was so smooth. I utterly enjoyed it and they give a huge scoop. My friend got the cookies and cream and loved it! They have some unique flavors like halva, which looked delicious and I can't wait to try next time. If you like chocolate, get the chocolate flavor. It has Oreos and brownie bites and looked delicious (I saw someone eating it). My friend got a chocolate shake. That I wasn't as impressed with. It tasted like artificial Hersey syrup which I do not like and it was extremely sweet. If you're in the area, stop by for ice cream. Well worth it!! I recommend getting it in a cup and a cone on the side (if you're in the mood for a cone) as their ice cream is so smooth and melts quite easily and can be quite messy.

I haven't been out in the Fashion Island area in a very long time... thanks a lot, COVID... but when I saw that they were serving something off the menu, I just had to try the Chicken 'N Waffles cone. Served with ice cream, bits of Chik Fil A chicken nugget bits and waffles, and drizzles of caramel syrup, it was the perfect combination of sweet and savory in every bite. I'll definitely have to come back to try some of the other ice creams on their menu.

My parents and I spotted this cute ice cream shop as we were headed into Fashion Island to return something. I liked the retro look of the sign and thought we should check it out later. They are a local, independent ice cream shop that uses liquid nitrogen to freeze the ice cream. Every flavor is made fresh to order, which means your order is going to take a little time to prepare. The first time I went here, I think the manager was training someone new and they were out of a few flavors. I wanted Cookie Dough, but went with the Nutella flavored ice cream, as the former was out of stock. Seasonal flavor was strawberry, which was made with local strawberries. (My mom went with this flavor.) Dad got the Bean Mi. They are generous with portions for a single scoop - I was glad I didn't order more as one is very filling. They come with temperature change spoons, which is kind of cute. All of us enjoyed our flavors and the texture was smooth and creamy. I did come back another time to see if I could get cookie dough and was finally able to try it. Unlike other places, they seem to use bits of baked cookie broken up into the ice cream and extra chocolate chips to serve as the cookie dough. The second time I went, they had more employees working that day and were able to get orders out quickly. If you sign up for texts or e-mails, you can get offers and discounts. I earned a 15% off code, which I used on the cookie dough when I came back. It was definitely worth returning. Parking options are the flat lots or the structures for the mall. Usually one can find parking without issue.

Peanut butter overload ice cream extravaganza!

Dinner...check! Dessert....liquid nitrogen mad scientist experiment...check! I had the peanut butter concoction...it had everything inside and a ganache on top! Large portion, but i put it away! My bride had the Oreo and was good. She made hers disappear with a little help. Ambiance is mad scientist 50's diner, service was counter, and prices were in line with expectation. I'm not a local, so the chances of me hitting this joint again are slim, but if I'm in the area I'd give it another go... and recommend others to as well!

Edit: mall management must have cracked down on her, because I reported her to them. :) The business owner deleted all her comments lashing out at people and rewrote them to sound more pleasant. People will always do what they think they can get away with. Don't let her new comments fool you, She's still a monster. Just look at the screenshot from the DM she sent me :) her updated comment to my review is incredibly passive aggressive. Try again! Okay, I'm sorry for leaving this, but my first and last visit here was so incredibly strange. The menu is extremely confusing and vague with all their different titles and categories and sub categories. Many things were sold out. The sizes were listed along with the prices. Boyfriend orders his 9oz and got charged $7.25. I ordered my 9oz and got charged $8.35. I ordered two different scoops. We have to wait at least 10 minutes, because, unbeknownst to me, they actually "make" the ice cream right there. Mine comes back and it's two of the same scoop of one flavour. I asked why I was charged more for the same thing as what my boyfriend got. The employee came back to our table about 3 times to give a very long explanation. Something about my ice cream was more complex and therefore cost 50 cents more? Nothing says that on the menu. I was charged a "dine in" tax and he wasn't. But there was nothing dine in about this place...I got major like...massive Cheesecake Factory menu vibes here. The more confusing a place is, the less likely they are to be successful. It's way too complex and there are hidden charges that make no sense. I wasn't given any apology for any of this weirdness or being over charged. Oh, and I asked why I didn't get two scoops of two different flavours like I asked. They say since the ice cream is made on the spot, I can only get one flavour. Why didn't the cashier tell me this when I ordered it? Where on the menu does it say that I can only get one flavour? Not everyone who comes here is a seasoned veteran and knows exactly what's going on. Please cater more to the first time customer like me. I was just puzzled and annoyed and the employee would not stop talking and leave. Okay, I get it, I know what's up now, but sheesh! Go away! I was puzzled that there appeared to be young looking children working there. I was concerned that all the employees were working with what looked like liquid nitrogen and had no gloves on or PPE. I'm reading some of the reviews of unhappy customers and you have GOT to read the replies from the owner! So embarrassing! That's all I'll say about that. Wooooowie!!! I'm quite shocked to read these comments from the owner

I go to Atomic Creamery because it had been a favorite of mine. I had two ice creams on Saturday a little after 12. I was disappointed because the milkshakes were sold out, the floats- sold out, chocolate atom- sold out, Boozah which was Saturday's flavor- sold out. Actually, I'd say that the half the board had been sold out. They had some Elemint. I remember every time that I've ordered, it had 3 kinds of chocolate. There wasn't though. I even asked the employee if they had the ingredients for that ice cream, and she said Yes. The coworker confirmed it too. There were only chocolate chips in there. I am not sure why it is advertised that there are 3 kinds of chocolate, when there's only 1 ?? The base for the ice cream is good like usual. What is lacking is the listed ingredients. The Elemint isn't how I remembered it. There was the AB square. That was great, but I left with some disappointment about the Boozah and other flavors that I wanted. AB square was good, but not my first choice nor my second.

This is what we saw fir 10 minutes. No one to help us, and still, as we left, no one behind the counter.

This review is solely in regard to service. The woman behind the counter, the moment we stepped into the creamery at Fashion Island, Newport Beach, was unwelcoming and rude. She was preoccupied and immediately said "We are not ready, we need a few minutes." I thought they had just opened, but it was 1:20 on a Saturday 6/10/23, and online hours showed it had opened earlier, late morning. We never received service, not even a peep from the woman, after 10 minutes. My husband nudged me to leave but I remember how delicious the ice cream was at a special event in Irvine. It was memorable. I approached the woman to ask if the place was open or not. Her facial expression was one of being interrupted and too busy. There's a sign on the window "Veteran Owned". I hope that Veteran gives second thought to having that woman represent his/her establish at Fashion Island. The woman asserted they were open but had had an event earlier and were not ready. Had she explained that first thing with a welcome disposition, this review would not be posted.

UPDATE: The owner is a RACIST. DO NOT COME TO THIS PLACE. She is mocking my mom for having an accent. She is claiming that we took an extra ice cream and tried to get a refund but that is completely untrue. We did not take the fourth ice cream that was offered to us, we gave it back to the worker. And we spent more than half an hour there that's for sure. Very disappointing; this is my first and last time here. (Also she deleted all the horrible things she was telling other commenters here.) The service was not it at all. We sat down and waited about 15 min before we got up and ordered from takeout because nobody was coming to take our order. We ordered three single scoops (7oz) and it took over 40 minutes for us to finally get our ice cream. We watched as the workers kept messing up orders or giving them to the wrong people. I feel really bad for the teenagers working there because the environment is so chaotic and unorganized. Two workers were even arguing with each other. Lots of people kept asking for refunds and they also gave us somebody else's order because they kept losing track of who ordered what. The ice cream wasn't even worth all that wait.

Yes yes yes! This ice cream shop has became one of my favorite for many reasons. It's very clean and great place to take some ice cream pictures. The service has been above and beyond with my four visits so far. The owners are veterans and offers discounts for the military. Their ice cream is fresh and very tasty. All orders made to order with nitrogen. They are very generous with samples, which is amazing! Ice cream is also offered for your pup-- super dog friendly. I didn't get the names of the people who had helped me but every single one of them were very pleasant. I only got the name of Jaslyn, she is a very sweet girl. I really appreciate the fact that she remembers me. For ice cream flavors, my favorite is the birthday cake ice cream with extra sprinkles. From samples, I realized their apple pie flavor is uniquely tasty. I plan to come back for their pints when I'm not visiting before dinner. In conclusion, I recommend this ice cream shop and would come back as often as I can. Nothing negative to say about this place.

Amazing ice cream, but ruined by bad management. Owners seriously need to hire a real manager instead of trying to manage their own business, they lack the knowledge and skill set to manage a business. Owners must learn to take the criticism given in reviews Instead of getting defensive. However, they can make some damn good ice cream. You guys really have a good thing going but you guys will also be the cause of your own downfall. This is what I'm talking about y'all she gets mad defensive. Your a terrible owner and attack anyone that gives you an sort of criticism. Grow up and do better. maybe instead of writing that long paragraph trying to defend yourself you should put that time into bettering yourself and your business. I've been the manager of large corporations with 10x the amount of product and workers you have now. I get it's hard but just letting you know, you're doing a terrible job and every review before me can attest, as I'm sure you know since you spend all your time writing back to bad reviews. My friend recommended this place, it was a rainy night and we waited quite a bit. It worked out because we just had a large dinner. The ice cream is out of this world, especially the graham-biscof kind! The kids had different flavors and we all loved each other's ice cream. If I can rate food and service thing would be different. Great ice cream and decent prices and we didn't wait long at all however we will never go back because of the service staff. I could not believe my eyes as the older lady in the store was a nut case and yelling at the coworkers in front of all the customers. Another worker throw his hat and walked out and said I am done working here. We were so uncomfortable that we were trying to eat our ice cream quickly just to leave. For Fashion Island and being a Friday night with families out I was shocked! I hope staffing will be evaluate it as you will be losing customers. No one deserves to work under those conditions. read more

Looking forward to an ice cream, we stopped here for a single scoop in a cup. 1 customer in line before us. Nobody behind us. It has been 37 minutes and we still don't have ice cream. There are not many customers, no notification from anybody. I'm hearing them now tell customers that there will be a 20 minute wait. That's good, but not accurate. We will never come back. read more

I love the Ice cream here but the staff is so rude. I've been uncomfortable multiple times because of the staff arguing right in front of me and the other customers. It's the owners yelling or talking harshly to their teenage staff who probably have never had a job before. The owners are also rude to their customers, clearly stressed all the time, which is fine but my last straw was when I witnessed a bad fight between the owner and the teenager worker. I hope he quits and finds a job that treats him with respect. Such a shame because the ice cream is good and it's a cute place. read more

Randomly decided to try this place out with a friend as we were shopping, and I actually thought it was better than Creamistry (which is saying a lot because I adore Creamistry). The prices and sizes are comparable, but I loved the unique and cool flavor options at Atomic. It also seemed more like a family-owned business, and I love supporting those. The owner gave us a quick run-down on the flavors and talked to us for a while about random things. My friend and I both got the Gramhattan Project upon the recommendation of one of the workers there and it did not disappoint!! The icecream is very creamy and the cookie chunks were definitely the best part. At first I was worried I wouldn't be able to finish it because we each got the medium size, but I ended up devouring mine and like half of my friends' too HAHA. Definitely worth a shot if you're shopping at Fashion Island and need your icecream fix!! read more

Saw sign outside door for milkshake Monday, decided to try place for the first time because toddlers wanted milkshake and got super excited. Waited in line, took forever, got to the front and was told they're out of all milkshakes. Not even an apology from cashier guy or the girl who came up to tell him who seemed more senior. Told them they should take the milkshake happy hour sign down - no action taken again no apology. I know it's COVID, that doesn't excuse bad service. There are many different nitrogen icecream places that are popping up everywhere, and while they are more pricey than the typical icecream joints, I think that the quality and density of it usually makes it worth it. I tried Atomic Creamery and had some high expectations from how diverse the menu was and sounded and the happy atmosphere inside. The service was great, but unfortunately the ice cream was very bland to me. I do like that they use real and premium ingredients, but unfortunately I would have to say Cauldron and A La Minute are still my favorite nitrogen ice cream places. read more

We live inland so whenever we are in Newport or heading to the beach, I make it a point to go to Atomic Creamery for some scream. Why? Because it is simply the best, creamiest ice cream. It all starts with their ingredients which taste far more fresh and wholesome than your run of the mill ice cream shop. Second, their flavors are spot on. A most unique flavor that I was so happy to try was the halvah, which was so delicious! There mint ice cream tastes like an actual mint leaf, and they don't waste their time (or your health) by adding green food coloring just to make it LOOK minty. The only flavor I wasn't too impressed with is their cherry because for some reason it wasn't cherry-y enough, for lack of a better description. But every other flavor I've tried so far is outstanding. The first time we went, we arrived as they were closing so they couldn't sell us any scoops, but they did offer us free samples. After we tried them, we had to take a couple of pints home. Since we had a significant drive, the owner (I think) packed it up in a bag with dry ice for us. He was so kind and it made our night! I will say that sometimes they close before the hours you find online say they will, so we always make sure to get there early just in case. I think it probably has something to do with COVID. However, I'm not taking a star off for it because their ice cream is that good and I think you should try it. read more

This ice cream is insane!!! I came for the off-the-menu , but they were out of the chicken and waffles special -- no fear though!! The cashier let us pick out our own flavor and was super helpful with sharing her favorite flavors. I got the birthday cake and my sister got the buckeye. Absolutely insane. It's apparent the ingredients are super fresh and made to order. It's obvious the less than 5 star reviews are internet Karen's with no life. 1000/10 would come again. read more

This place is truly a gem, I've never been to an ice cream place where one of the owners makes the ice cream from scratch right in front of you. I got the hazelnut flavor and it was so smooth and delicious! And I'm picky with my ice cream. Incredibly attentive service! Plus you get to pick which table you want to sit at, you can scan the QR code to see the menu, and order right from the table. The ice cream is made to order in front of you and is delivered to your table. read more

WOW.. this is some of the BEST liquid nitrogen ice cream i have ever had, and i eat ice cream every single day!!! if you like liquid nitrogen ice cream, this is definitely THE place to try, they have truly perfected the method!!! i got the chocolate atom - a classic plain chocolate flavor, because with good quality ice cream, you do not need anything else!! it tastes amazing on its own, but since it came with a topping i got cookie dough, and it came with a pretty generous amount!! the ice cream is just so delicious!! it is so creamy, tasty, and true quality ice cream. you can really taste that it is made with the finest, high quality ingredients, and it is made fresh right in front of you!! the ice cream is churned so that it is the most creamy, rich ice cream you have ever tasted!! i loved every single bite!! the smallest size is a bit pricy for ice cream, at a little above $5, but i would say that is is definitely worth it and you get a pretty generous big scoop for the small size!! definitely more than i needed because it is so rich but it is so good that i devoured the whole thing!! i really haven't had this good of ice cream in my life!! it is similar to smitten's ice cream, if you have ever had that. i also got to try the bean mi, which is like a Vietnamese coffee flavor, which was absolutely amazing!! you can really taste the coffee flavor, and it is so smooth, rich, and creamy, i am missing it right now while i am writing this review!! this is the BEST ice cream in the area, definitely a must try!! the store is also so cute and prices are fair for how much you get. definitely worth it!! wish i lived closer, because i would come back everyday if i could!! I found myself in Fashion Island at lunch with all of the restaurants very busy I stopped in for a "quick" milk shake. The shake was average to say the best. The problem was it took over twenty minutes to get it and when I order there was only on other customer in the building. I suggest getting in your car drive to the nearest DQ. Absolute worst service for an ice cream shop. We ordered 3 cups of ice cream and one of them came out about five minutes later and the other two didn't come out for another 15 min. Then I asked a guy for a manager, he walked right past me. I kept asking and then he said you got the owner what do you want? I said we've been waiting for a while now this is getting ridiculous, we ordered 3 cups and only got one so far and he said it's our method, that's the way we do it here. to start, my boyfriend and I love this establishment! Their ice cream selection is phenomenal and oh so delicious. The low review is for their service. Today, I came in at 12 (excited to get some ice cream) and was told that they wouldn't be serving until 1pm. They are suppose to be open at 11am? On top of that on previous occasions, it takes around 20 minutes for the ice cream to be prepared and as we wait, one can see the two owners bickering with each other. The environment then becomes hostile and awkward to be in. I will still be returning here because the ice cream is that good. Just wish there was a more professionalism. read more

Came to the Fashion Island mall with my wife during weekend, the mall has nothing special that surprise both of us, but for sure is a great place to chill down. The koi pool definitely worth to give it a look, but all other stores does not worth it. However, we saw this ice cream store while we walking back to our parking, and we decided to give it a try. We have order the (chocolate)3 from the menu which the staff recommended us. The ice cream itself tasted good without no doubt, but the cookies and brownies are way too sweet that both of us can't eat it! I'm a sweet lover, but when I mentioned something that's too sweet it does meant it's too over. I was going to give it 4 star for the ice cream, but the services over there makes me take out one. The reason is when I ask for some napkin to hold the ice cream cone while the sun is melting it, the staff give me a wired look and hand me only 1 napkin. When I ask for a spoon, the staff just pretend not hear it, and he just walk away! So, I just grab a spoon that next to the cashier. Anyways, I'm here for ice cream but not for service, which I don't expect too much from them. If visiting again, for sure a no for this store. read more

Wooo man that was bomb ice cream man. I got the Fairy Floss, the Grahamhattan Project (monthly limited time), and the Owen Experiment. I think the Grahamhattan Project was the best of the three, and if I remember right, I believe it was cookie butter and Biscoff on top as well as some Graham crackers mixed in or something. Really strong delicious flavors! The second best of the three in my opinion is Fairy Floss which I expected to be my least favorite cause I'm not really into super super sweet and sugary stuff, but surprisingly enough this one wasn't overwhelming! It had cotton candy infused with Pop Rocks and a stick of Rock Candy all topped with whipped cream. And of course my least favorite of the three would be the Owen Project, which despite it being my least favorite of the three, it was actually still pretty good! Just not something I myself enjoyed because of the particular texture it had; I prefer my ice cream to be smooth. There was condensed milk drizzled over it and it had strawberries and marshmallows infused into it which provided for a bit of texture in each bite. Not my kind of thing. I'm not typically an "ice cream person" {GASP}. Yes, it's true. Of course, I like it but there are many other desserts I crave instead of ice cream... well, this place may have changed that. I'm craving what I ate yesterday!! The line was long, 7 or more people in front of me, but moved pretty fast (maybe 10 mins?!) and boy was it worth it!! I had the Owen Experiment (my mouth is watering thinking of it!!), a friend tried the coffee one (Bean Mi) and my son made his own creation. Each of us devoured the whole thing! Also, the toppings are only .25 more I think and my son ordered pop rocks and they gave him a WHOLE PACK! So worth the money IMO and it was a fun experience. The owner was working hard, which was so neat to see. Go here, it's worth it! You get AMAZING ice cream (also note there is vegan and dairy free options!) and you get to support a local business owner. Win/Win! read more

Went down there from Monterey Park LA county, after the wife had called them earlier to make sure they be open and still have ice cream to sell. When we got there, after waiting for 10 min, a sales person mossy over to my wife and daughter telling them they couldn't serve us because they have an up coming event. My wife told the sales person we drove almost an hour just to get there. No sorry ....we can't serve you. Case closed. No compromise. Apparently our situation is not unique and has happened to others. Luckily, their is a gelato place in the mall that was more than happy to serve us. read more

Made to order ice cream creations formulated by liquid nitrogen. Interesting juxtaposition between the retro pastel decor and ultra-trendy ice cream. Prime location at Fashion Island, around the corner from Whole Foods. I stopped in for a quick treat after shopping while my boyfriend waited in the car. Unfortunately, I waited over 20 minutes for a single ice cream. The place was empty except for a family of 4, who had already ordered. My annoyance from the absurd wait subsided when I tasted my ice cream. I got the AB², a rich, creamy French vanilla base mixed with funfetti birthday cake. The ice cream was perfect texturally and had incredible flavor that was enhanced by the moist chunks of cake, which they make in house. I also like that they have several flavors of Konery cones, which are the best of the best. Although I enjoyed my ice cream, I am unsure it was worth the wait. I suggest they either hire more employees and/or add more stand mixers so that more than 3 orders can be made at once. Also, making customers aware of the unusual wait time would be nice. read more

Because we make our ice cream for you when you order, it takes a little patience on the customer end and some labor on our end but the end results are amazing, decadent and stand out ice cream! In 2019 we moved from a quaint location inside Fashion Island to a larger location near Nieman Marcus nestled between R&D Kitchen and Canaletto's. It’s 2022 and we survived COVID and moved to a larger location to better service walk in and all of our customers! It’s 2024 and we have taken a much needed break. After 6 years we are searching for a new place to call home, build a community and get away from the negativity and review bombing causing fatigue & undue stress.

Instead of syrups meant for coffee making or sourcing the flavorings as a premium such as Nielsen Massey Vanilla Bean Paste and Beans. Making purée from fresh daily picked strawberries, making our four ingredient lemon curd and using Gharidelli chocolate. Our customers are near and dear to us and we appreciate patience. We are a veteran owned shop and take pride in supporting the Military as well as first responders. We carry and make non dairy / vegan product due to market demand. I politely asked if she could help me when she was free. She looked at me, nodded, and said she would. Then proceeded to assist every customer who lined up behind that original customer without once glancing back in my direction. In fact, I had enough time to walk to the bakery, go through the entire gift card situation as mentioned above, and return to the butter section, and Lucy still hadn't looked over. I left without the butter. Moulin used to have fantastic service. I don't know where those regulars went, but two strikes in one visit, with two different employees, is hard to brush off.

OMG, I had the most unique and mind-blowing experience at the liquid nitrogen ice cream joint! Let me start by saying that the customer service here is absolutely top-notch, especially considering they had to handle an "extreme duress" situation with a wild "Karen" on the loose! So, picture this: I walk into the place, excited to try this futuristic liquid nitrogen dessert, and suddenly all hell breaks loose. A "Karen" unleashes her fury over something trivial, demanding to speak to the manager and causing quite the scene. Trivial in that she claimed she was waiting for her fourth ice cream; but low and behold she only paid for three. "Karen" was shoveling in the ice cream between conversation breaks. But wait, the staff at this place handled it like rockstars! The superwoman behind the counter whipped out the reciept and showed Karen and went over the receipt. Wildly pissed off "Karen" stormed out leaving spouting off some obscenity under her breathe! Amidst the chaos, they remained calm and composed, trying their best to address her concerns and pacify her. I was blown away by their patience and professionalism, as they managed to keep a smile on their faces even under the pressure of her non-stop complaints. Another 5 star review for Atomic! We are back and house hunting this time! We had to come back for ice cream. Wow! There must have been 60 people in the store celebrating and a handful enjoying ice cream on their own. Where do I begin once again I witnessed the character of Atomic and their staff. So friendly and resilient. They greeted us and we ordered. While ordering an interaction took place that I lodged for future. The female owner was helping to make ice cream and she had her back to me but I heard her over the loud music and all the screaming kids celebrating day something to the effect "Please, don't do that or Please stop doing that" and she clearly used Please and this young boy maybe 8-10 years old drops his hand and then slinks off with a knowing look of "I've been caught" ... our ice cream is coming out and from across the space I hear a woman yelling 'no he did not'and ranting and she was pointing and being rude and vulgar toward the owners both of them. I came to find out via an IG post tgat this woman went on Yelp! And post a very malicious and altered view of the interaction. Altered view in the pretense she did not observe nor hear the original conversation. My only gripe are the customers, I mean it says they make fresh made to order ice cream, bro that is not a short process but its way cool to see and the flavor is explosive. Some lady tried to act like she did not speak english and accidentally was given a free ice cream and then tried to get a refund for the free ice cream... The whole experience was awful. The service was bad and it seemed like they were only kind to people the staff knew personally. All the good reviews on here appear to be either their own staff or people that know the staff. Aside from that I would be willing to tolerate the service if the ice cream was the best l've ever had, but it was far from that. You're better off getting the freezer burned ice cream from the back of your freezer. It tasted like they buy store bought ice cream and leave it open all night. My friends got a few flavors to try and none of us enjoyed them. Overall, would not recommend or come back. There are so many other places to go than here. read more

This time I tried Oreo and peanuts. Service is fast and they are super friendly. It's a walk up and order through a window kind of place. They have 2 benches outside you can sit on.
