    Oakland Restaurant Week appetizer sampler.
    Vi T.

Had lunch here last Monday with friends during the Oakland Restaurant Week event. They participated and had a special menu set of $45 for a 3 course meal with choice of Entree and a non-alcoholic drink. I chose the Restaurant week special and chose the grilled fish (whole fish wrapped and cooked in banana leaf) served with side salad of fresh herbs and vermicelli noodles. It was definitely a big portion enough for 2 people to share, so I took half of this home as leftovers. Appetizer for that set was a sampler piece of each their 5 Hors d'oeuvres. Dessert was Guava Granita (shaved ice with guava syrup) and I chose the Butterfly Pea lemonade. One friend ordered the Tom Yum soup (regular menu item) with a side of vermicelli noodles. Another friend ordered the weekday lunch special of the red curry ($18.50) which came with a side of rice. All of us enjoyed our meals and will be back to try their other menu items. Food tasted authentic and was made with good ingredients. Note there is a definite kick and hot spice level to the dipping sauce that came with the grilled fish.

Really loved my visit to Attraros! Came in for a weekday meal since I was staying nearby at the Marriott on work travel. The restaurant sits tucked in a fun little area and was easy to find. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The atmosphere is quaint and pleasant. The restaurant is well designed with nice green and yellow accent and strong branding.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I was quickly seated and the service across the board was great. The food is what really shines and I wish I could have gone back because there were so many things I wanted to try. They had all the standards for Thai food but then also had a diverse set of special dishes that I have seen few other places. They all sounded delicious but given I was by myself wound up going for the Khao Soi. It was a hit and a ton of food with rich flavors and tasty noodles. Really really good and came out pretty quickly. Overall a fantastic experience and I would not hesitate to go back if folks are nearby.

I was really glad to finally try Attraros tonight. It has been on my bookmarks for a while, and while I love Thai food, I wasn't in the mood for traditional dishes. The Khao Pad Nuer, Plamuk Tod Gra-tiem, Sam Chun Tod, and Som Tum Laos were all delicious.

Came here for a Timeleft dinner and it was such a fun time. The food was amazing. The staff was really nice and sat us at our correct tables. They were nice enough to split the bill by items. I'll definitely be back. Might be my new go to Thai place!

I'm so sad I just walked by and the restaurant has closed! :( I just tried this restaurant two weeks ago and I definitely enjoyed the food, Thai ice tea, service, cute decor, and staff. The tofu spring rolls were so fresh and delicious I was craving those so bad I walked over and thats when i discovered they are closed. The staff was kind and friendly really enjoyed eating here and was planning on returning. Their sign says they have a sister restaurant so now I know I will be giving that place a try!

The food was ok. The service was good. Even though i went a little early. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance is fair.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] This was my first time visiting it in my neighborhood. Never tried Thai food before so for my first thai restaurant it was ok.

My girlfriend and I went to Attraros Thai Eatery during Oakland restaurant week. For restaurant week, they had a 3 course menu for $40 pp (+ $5 surcharge on some entrees). The restaurant was empty when we got there around 7 pm, but it got busy within the next half an hour. Attraros Thai Eatery offered a mixed bag. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance was pleasant[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]], the food was decent but the service was really slow. Our food took over 30 minutes to arrive, which put a damper on the experience. Our restaurant week menu started with starter sampler, which included miang kum, sakoo sai moo, mo hor, moo salong, and toong thong. The starter sampler was a mix of sweet and savory items, and they were all pretty good. For the main courses, the hoi prik pao (scallops with chilies) was flavorful, but the roasted chili paste was surprisingly sweet. It was not what we were expecting. The Thai marinated pork chop was a bit dry. The accompanying nam jim jeaw sauce helped, but it couldn't quite salvage the dryness. The thai iced tea was a disappointment. It was watered down and lacked the robust tea flavor and creamy sweetness that one would expect. The star of the show was definitely the mango mousse cake. Luscious mango flavor with a perfect balance of sweet and tart, it was a delightful ending to the meal. Overall, Attraros has potential. The food has its moments, and the ambiance is nice. But the slow service and underwhelming drinks bring the experience down to a 3-star rating.

I enjoyed this Thai cuisine experience in downtown Oakland, CA. I visited shortly after midday during the lunch period and surprisingly the restaurant had no diners. A few more diners did begin to trickle in as I finished my meal however not considerably. The interior has a very simple decor however is very Asian modern. I also like that the restaurant has bench seating along the back wall. The staff were friendly which I appreciate. The food was delicious, fresh, and the portions are appropriate. The Pad Thai had all of the appropriate flavor profiles that you'd expect from this classic Thai dish. One thing that I observed is the restaurant takes pride in plating. The plating of their food is very thoughtful and organized. Overall a good experience and I will visit again when in the area. Food Ordered: Pad Thai Miung Kum

Attached to Oakland's Swan Market, Attraros is a vibrant, new eatery turning out beautiful plates of creative Thai food. My favorite dish was the Sakoo Sai Moo, an appetizer of chewy tapioca balls stuffed with a sweet, savory, umami filling of minced pork, pickled radish, and peanuts, and the balls were topped with garlic and Thai chili, making for a brilliant combination of flavors and textures. In addition, the tapioca balls came in three different colors: white (original), green (pandan), and blue (butterfly pea flower), so the presentation was a highlight too! Next, we had the Som Tum Laos, a papaya salad with green beans and tomatoes, dressed with a fermented fish sauce, and they did not hold back on the red chilies, which had a super spicy kick! The Yum-Pla Muk was a grilled octopus tentacle sliced and dressed with an herb and chili paste, served with a colorful mixed salad on the side. For our mains, the impressive-looking Kang Gae was a giant grilled lamb shank served with potatoes and onions in a creamy, spiced Massamun curry sauce, along with crispy pan-fried roti on the side; and the Choo-Chee Goong were three grilled jumbo head-on shrimp served in a more liquid red curry sauce along with spinach, tomatoes, and lychee, which added an unexpected juicy, fruity burst. The Pla Pao Bai Tong was a thin swai fillet marinaded with herbs and grilled in a banana leaf, served with a spicy seafood sauce; and the Khao Soi Haeng was a "deconstructed" Khao Soi that came with a sliced ribeye steak topped with Khao Soi curry sauce along with pickled cabbage, fried Brussels sprouts, chili crisp, and soft egg noodles on the side. While creative, the ribeye was on the chewy side, while the noodles were overcooked. My favorite main was the Kanom Jean Nam Ngiew, a take on a Northern Thai noodle soup, which came with a broth of tender, slow-cooked pork ribs and ground pork, served with bundles of blue and white rice noodles on the side, along with pickled cabbage and bean sprouts. The pork ribs were fall-apart tender, and the hearty broth went perfectly with the light rice noodles. Overall, the food here was absolutely delicious and on point. Every dish was beautifully and colorfully plated, showcasing creative takes on Thai classics. The service was friendly, the prices were reasonable, and the modern atmosphere was fun and inviting too.

We ordered lunch special, green curry with vegetables and pad thai. The foods had good presentation and also tasty. Staff's there are friendly and attentive. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Nice environment to handout with friends.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Spaghetti Keemao, Por Tod, and Saikoo Sai Moo.
    Michelle Orawan C.

We came in on a Friday night after walking by several times and being intrigued by the beautiful photos of the food. Does the food taste as good as it looks? Pretty close! As Thai people, we don't eat out at Thai restaurants much because we cook it ourselves. When we do, the bar is raised. Food: We ordered spaghetti kee mao, por tod, and sakoo sai moo. The spaghetti was cooked perfectly (al dente) and tossed with Thai spices such as green peppercorn and hot basil. It was delicious but I found myself looking for that extra Thai kick (umami and spice). The por tod was my favorite. Nice crisp, not greasy, and held the filling really well. It was addictive, and I found myself wanting more. The sakoo: the tapioca shell was a little undercooked and the mince pork filling was a little too sweet for us- but I can see others enjoying it, especially with a bite of the fresh thai chilis served. Loved to see the chef is the owner and is in the kitchen cooking our meals. Only thing I didn't enjoy: the wine list needs help. Maybe we should've gone the cocktail route but the cab we ordered was horrible. Space: Plenty of parking, just don't leave anything valuable in the car. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Restaurant is cozy and clean.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I just didn't like the bathroom is a journey to get to and from.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We had a good time and I will definitely go back and try out other dishes.

I appreciate the artisanal spin on the dishes, but the portions were too small to justify the price (e.g pad thai for $20).

The waiter saw how much we loved the dip and brought us another one to use for our rice. Big shout out to her! The chicken wings were okay. Not that spicy for me (I have a high spice tolerance) but I expected them to be more savory. They were cooked very well though. I would give it a 3/5 Unfortunately, I was pretty disappointed with my main which was the crispy whole dried fish. I am a sucker for whole fish dishes so I was pretty excited and expectant for something spectacular. The fish itself was bland. It was very crispy and cooked well but not really seasoned. I had thought the sauce they serve with it was intended to impart flavor on the fish, but the sauce was just very tangy and not flavorful. I did finish the fish though but it's not something I would get again. Overall a 2.5/5. Their coconut rice was good though I was expecting more of a coconut flavor with it. I would rate that a 4/5. It was cooked very well. I think this is a really nice place though, perhaps I just did not order the right or more popular dishes. I'll be coming back for the ROTI WITH DIP (It was that good) and to try the other items in their menu.

The restaurant is really big and we sat at a table for 14 pretty comfortably. We were also here on a Saturday night and the restaurant was full. The service is your typical Chinese restaurant vibe where you leave a little bit emotionally abused after paying for overly priced menu items. We did the à la cart and easily spent up to $1500. Better off with the family plan meal but nothing was of interest to us except one or two dishes. It took forever to come out and I mean FOREVER to a point where we almost cancelled a few dishes and called it a night, but they kept saying it's being made. With as many people and as massive as the restaurant was, and the price tags, I was expecting a more efficient service. A couple of times we saw our dish being brought to the wrong table and the people going "oh we didn't order this." With all of that out of the way, I am giving them an average score of 3 starts because the food did bring them back up. It was actually really good. My favorite of all things we ordered was their sea bass with string beans. The sea bass was fried crispy, garnished salty and still soft inside. It paired really well with the string beans. We ordered a bunch of other things that I couldn't tell you what the name was in English and they were above average taste wise. Their complimentary dessert however, was mass produced and tasted like they added too much water to it. This was the only one I was disappointed in. I still say this place is extremely overpriced but for a family meal experience and if you ever want to impress a date, why not.

To be honest, Fusion used to be terrible, and I used to absolutely hate coming here. Food was slow in coming, what came out was often cold, the dining room was loud, and service was impersonal, at best. On one visit, half the menu was unavailable, requested silverware was crooked, and numerous glasses, bowls, and plates were chipped or damaged. On another visit, I saw multiple families sneak out of the restaurant, walk to McDonald's across the plaza, and smuggle food back in to tide them over until their orders came. After a while, I wasn't alone in meeting the decree of, "come to Fusion on Saturday," with a groan. However, when HL Peninsula opened in Castro Valley and established itself as a threat to Fusion's business, it served as a wake-up call. Food immediately got better (from "below-average" to "know what to order and you'll be fine"), the speed of service improved, and food temperature became consistent and proper. It's not QUITE a "different restaurant" feel, and there are still some negatives. It's still loud and service could still be better (there have been times where chicken wings have taken over an hour to come out, which is a "should not occur"). However, at least I don't dread coming here anymore.

We thought it could use a little more greens, as the portion felt somewhat small. Curry fried chicken bowl -- this was our favorite thing that we got! We thought that the portions were the perfect size for sharing, which we loved. Next time, I'd definitely get the curry rice bowl again because it was so good! The decor was super cute, and the staff were friendly and attentive. If you are craving a chicken dish, we recommend you check this place out!

Order at the counter and they bring food to you. - kmg: The sauce did the khao mun gai did not taste as flavorful (less funky, more watered down). - green beans: similar to above, more watered down flavors. Was expecting more funk and spice and sweetness like what they used to serve. - tater tots: crunchy with a hint of tom yum (I think) seasoning - Lao sausage: a tad dry, again would want more flavorful seasoning Slow service (took 20 mins for us to get our soup broth that came with our rice dish, and prob 30 mins for us to get a side of pickles). Ambiance as loud and echoey and it sounded like a large fan or blender was going for a long time (which was still decently loud despite us sitting furthest end from the kitchen).

I've gone four times and each time it's been soooo hard to pick a responsible number of cocktails…read more They have so much variety and a lot of unconventional combos; the staff is very good about helping guide you to something that matches your preferences, but everything I've tried there was really good. The bites are generally really good too, though I wasn't a huge fan of the chili cucumbers. Try the Tomato Beef cocktail-- it's really yummy! The Li Hing Ramos is a good go-to if you like egg white drinks, and the seasonal milk punch has always been good. The ambiance is very cool, not bright inside, but bright colors, very hip. Great date night spot.

Viridian, you stole the show this month! This was my first time coming back to Viridian after about…read morea decade, and we were not disappointed. Such a beautiful interior space vibrant in celebration for AAPI Heritage month, and a super fun cocktail menu that was the perfect post-meal moment (both photo-worthy and tastebuds approved). We also noticed they have a cool food menu too filled with yummy and innovative dishes like Cheesy Char Siu Tots, Szechuan Salt & Pepper Wings, Korean Fried Mapo Tofu, BBQ Char Siu Ribs, and more. They also have nice swag ~ we took home a hat that resembled a Kirkland hat that spelled out "Oakland Viridian" (IYKYK). Drink-wise we ordered the Soy Sauce Old Fashioned and the Café Sua Daddy, which essentially is an espresso martini with a fun twist with black sesame and an egg cream foam. Both drinks were outstanding and presentation was beyond..I wished we could have stayed for round two, but duty calls! Ride-share and or BART suggested in this area, it's just a bit congested downtown to park. Service was fun, prices fair for the whole experience. Loved it!
