This is a really horrible service. I wouldn't recommend anyone to come to this place. Their restroom is nasty and smelly.

I think people come here just to socialize and not so much for the drinks. It takes a while to get any service and it takes what seems like forever just for the drinks to come out. This is twice that I've been that they were out of boba. What the heck! It's a boba place you can't be serious!! The drinks I've gotten (iced crysenthemim and hot grass jelly) were decent. The Lavender Milk tea tasted like bleach! The toast had an inch of butter fried on top of the bread. Disgusting!

I think AU79 is maybe a little more like 3.5 stars for me, but I'll round up. PROS - They have pretty good tea. I particularly like their milk green tea. My general rule is, if a tea shop can't do a basic milk tea right, I won't drink there. - I'm a fan of their mini boba. - Friendly service. CONS - A little on the pricey side. - The fruit-flavored teas are far too sweet for me. I once had a mango green tea that I couldn't finish because it was too sweet. (I'm being VERY generous by giving it three stars...) I never expect great service at an Asian tea place...Ok, scratch that. I never even expect decent service at an Asian tea place--anything above awful will do for me. I don't know why or how this came to be, but unfortunately, that's the way it is. And yet somehow, despite low (or lack of) service expectations, I was still disappointed. So the tea is pretty decent, and the food is not bad--it tasted fresh enough, which is sort of a surprise, since most tea places I've been to don't have the best food. It took forever for my tea to come (even though it was just basic black), and after I finished my meal, no one ever came to take my plate, but no biggie. We don't really understand why service is so slow--there seems to be 3 or 4 people in the kitchen and at least 2 servers. Sure, the place is packed, but most people have been sitting there chatting for two hours or so, like our group, so it's not like they need to keep bringing out teas or whatnot. We ask for our bill, my friend orders another tea to-go, and 30 minutes later, no tea and no check. So we go up to them and ask for our bill and the tea, and after 10 minutes, someone finally proceeds to check me out...which is when I discover my dish suddenly went up $2. I point out the discrepancy and the server is about to change it, but he's new and doesn't know how to work the machine, so the other server comes and is about to change it...until she checks and says, "Wait a minute, I wrote down chicken. You ordered the chicken." (which is $2 more) I tell her no, I ordered the pork--which, by the way, *sounds* nothing like the word "chicken" and is nowhere near the chicken on the menu. (They were battered, deep fried pieces of meat.) She walks back to our table, looks at my scraps, and goes "This is chicken." I'm starting to think this is ridiculous--so I ask my friend, who ate some of my food, and she said she thought it was pork too. It was fatty, deep-fried, dark...it looked and tasted like pork...and being a wannabe foodie, I'm pretty sure, at the very least, I can tell my meats apart. Regardless, her attitude was just awful. "Oh, well you already ate it. I'm sorry, if you didn't eat it, we could have done something about it, but since you ate it, we have to charge you for the chicken." It's $2, who cares, but I'm one of those "It's the principle" people. I'm still mulling over the fact that she doesn't apologize for her mistake, when she says, "See, since chicken is written on the check, if we charge you for the pork, the extra money comes out of our own pocket." To which my friend said, it was your mistake, it should! And she just replied "I'm sorry, but you ate it." And kept repeating it... I didn't want to be there all day, and like I said, it was $2, so I paid and told her we wouldn't be back again... Which unfortunately is not going to be true because my other friend loves their tea too much. It's good but not THAT good. If you don't mind slow service and rude, incompetent servers with attitude, the tea and food aren't so shabby. I used to love this place! The service was great and speedy, the drinks were great, and there were always beautiful gals around. That was nearly a decade before. I have since then visited a few times and I have to say, each visit was more disappointing than the last. My favorite drink from years back was the Plum Green Tea. I fell in love with this drink because of its perfect balance between aromatic green tea, sweetness of the simple syrup and the slight sourness of the dried plums. However, the last few times I visited, they either changed the recipe or stopped training their Batistas because the same drink had very different taste. the elements are no longer harmonious in the drink. went today with a friend... got the milk green tea with pink boba. it was really good and the pink boba is good. i like how its not too chewy or too mushy. it had a nice gummy taste. the menu is nice and the decor is nice. i like how they have the option of lowering the sweetness level. so i got 1 out of 6 sweetness. they also serve food too but i didn't get it. overall, i will definitely come back and try their other teas. read more

Yesterday was my first visit and the service was terrible. I ordered Beef Noodles Soup and the server forgot to put the order in. When I asked where my soup was he told me it takes longer to cook than the other soups. I thought that was BS and we spoke to the manager and the server admitted to forgetting the order but he did not apologize at all. The manager made sure I received my order and she didn't charge us for it. She also gave us a coupon towards our our next meal. The server who was male took our orders with writing them down which was impressive until he kept coming back to our table asking what we ordered. This is my favorite place to get Boba Milk Tea. I usually am not a fan of just milk tea but their is really good. I think the quality of their drinks is very consistent. Great location, Great Atmosphere, Good Drinks, Decent Food, Terrible Service. It's mainly the fault of the stingy management not properly staffing the place. This is what defines AU79. They are still one of my favorite tea places. If you dine-in, expect them to take 5 minutes before taking your order and up to 15 minutes until your drink gets to you. I really like how you are able to Dine-in and I like the fact that they serve you but you have to expect delays. One time, we sat outside, ordered our drinks, and one person in our party ordered hot tea and never received hers. Then, they tried to give us our check BEFORE giving us her drink. We told her to cancel the drink, and they kindly gave us the drink (which was lukewarm by then), along with it removed from the bill They have fast wi-fi and one of the best seating area for smokers. You can stay as long as you want, but the service is just terrible. It really isn't the employee's fault that the service sucks. For a dine-in place, they are understaffed. They should have at least 3 people working during the busy hours. one person taking to-go drinks, one person servicing, and the last guy making the drinks. read more

One word! Nostalgic. Going to this place brings me memories about my high school days of nothing but late night food/boba runs and of course the parking lot car meets. Flash forward and its definitely not the AU79 of old. The upgraded interior decor is a bit more trendy and spacious (more seats!). However, service can be spotty sometimes but that can always be improved. IMHO, they have by far the best winter melon tea from all the other boba/tea spots so far. I used to come here almost whenever I'm in Arcadia. Sometimes more than once a day! I usually like to get the green milk tea, royal milk tea, or matcha fresh milk. They sometimes might not have boba available yet right when they open so you might have to wait for it. Recently though, I noticed that they tend to mess up our orders a lot, but they are really patient and more than willing to help correct that (past 4-5 times I've been there they have messed up, and hasn't stepped it up in several months already, thus the 2/5 stars). Upon arriving, no one greeted us or offered to seat us. We were standing in the front for awhile and the guy at the register helped some people who arrived after us first....like wtf..really? Maybe because they were paying cash and not staying but you could throw us a, "We will be right with you, please sit where you want" Instead, we waited till they were done and had to ask where we could sit. Finally, sat down and ordered a tea. Last time I was there, I enjoyed the chrysanthemum tea in a cute little teapot but this time, I got in in a to go cup. Maybe, thats a new thing since everyone had to go cups. We sat and talked for awhile. I think they checked on us once, but I'm not even sure they did that. Tea was good but the service was whack. I wanted honey but there was no where to get it and no one to ask....I guess they didn't check on us because I would have asked if they had bothered to come around and check. I understand it was busy but make an effort to provide some service. Next time, I crave tea I might just go to the one is Pasadena. Was so disappointed...haven't been to AU in a while. When I came back, I ordered my usual. Strawberry Green Tea with Rainbow Jelly. The tea part was fine..but the rainbow mix was destroyed. It use to be a mix of everything from -kognac, to jelly, to boba. Now, they skimp out on the kognac, and the mix is uneven. It taste more unnatural and syrupy. I'll be back to try the milk tea, but for now, I can think of better places to get boba. read more

The place was neat and clean, the customer service was good as well. Have a unique flavors which is what I love from Au. You can also adjust the sweetness of your drink. Also the BOBA has a good level chewiness and sweetness, they also have mini boba which is reminded me of eating dippindots. It's recommended to come here!! read more

Gosh darn it this place! Their drinks here are quite delicious. But I have to give it three stars because: 1) their selection of drinks is minimal 2) there are only a few drinks that I can say that are really good. 3) service here can be somewhat inconsistent. I came here a few days ago with my cousin, we ordered a honey green tea and an honey osmanthus oolong...simple drinks right? The honey green tea came out first. So we waited...10 minutes passes by, still no drink. So I approached the waitress and asked if they could kindly check on my order (mind you I'm just waiting on ONE more drink). However as I was approaching her, she brushed right by me and said "it's almost ready...takes a while". Okay fine. I sat down and continued to watch those who have ordered after me get their drinks. At this point I'm starting to fume...I approached another waitress. She did the same as the other waitress and brushed right by me. Remember this is a boba shop so blenders are going on and off, off the ying yang. She talks to me as if I was right next to her but she's really at the other side of the shop. I'm like I can't hear you... she says "you're drink takes a while to make!!!!!" I say "I'm pretty sure it doesn't, I order this drink all the time and it comes out pretty quick...I've been waiting for almost 20 minutes already" ugh! Even if they needed to steep the tea, it should not take any longer than 10 minutes! Oh yea FYI the chubby male Barista with the glasses isn't very sanitary. One time I was watching him make drinks, he used his wet hands to scratch his greasy head and I saw some dandruff flaking off. He continued to make the drinks without washing his hands. This is hands down my favorite boba place when I'm home. Whenever I go to boba places in NYC, this is what I compare the drinks to, and none of the places in NYC have come up to par. I adore their honey milk tea and I would drink it everyday if I could afford it. Au79 is a bit on the pricey side, but I'm willing to pay more for the good tea. I've been coming here for years, and there's one thing that hasn't changed: the reason I come here is more to hang out with friends than to get tea.
