I stopped in Auburn Sew & Vac a couple days into the New Year as my cordless vacuum kept flashing the "filter" light at me. The store was busy when I arrived, but the gentleman working that day was friendly and worked very quickly. When it was my turn, he was quickly able to diagnose my problem, fixed my vacuum, and I was on my way. It's also worth mentioning that while I was there, he helped several people out to their cars, carrying their different machines, going above and beyond a just a simple repair. Top notch service: I walked in with a busted vacuum cleaner that had a broken internal fan blade. Alex couldnt have been any nicer, and had it replaced and running like new in 10 minutes. So I can reply to his message and again I really want to love this mom and pop shop. When I dropped of my sewing machine I told the person that I was getting the error and was threaded correctly. Threading a machine is basic to a woman like me who has been sewing for 40 years. I informed them that it's either the sensor or a belt if they could look at it it would be great. Not once did I ask them to fix anything over the phone, that's not how things are fixed so let's be real. I asked them on the phone if they looked at the issues I pointed out. I had to spend another $150 at another shop to have them look at it and what do you know? There was a bar that needed to be replaced that's part of the tension process in the machine that needed to be fixed. Had the repair person at this shop bothered to look at it they would have seen the problem. After being insulted on the phone and on Yelp, I will never come to this shop for anything anymore. I can not tolerate a person that is so willing to insult people. read more

Both the owner and his wife were sooooo sweet and kept the store open for me so I could drive over after work to try some vacuums. I ended up purchasing the Cirrus CR79 and I love it ! I cannot say enough about Alex at Auburn Sew and Vac. I live in the SF Bay Area. I searched four stores to get a drive belt for my Eureka upright vac. One store owner practically chased me out of her store saying "We don't work "on THOSE"-- was downright rude (see review of California Sew and Vac in San Rafael CA). I also tried several internet part sites and Eureka official web site to no avail. My sister went to Auburn Sew and vac near her home. She said Alex went out of his way to resolve the problem, even gave her belts that may work at no charge. He said no charge and apologized for the troubles we were having trying to repair our machine to keep it out of landfill. Kudos to Alex. Give that man a raise! read more

The last time I visited the store while waiting to speak with one of the owners, I believe his name is Alex, I witnessed something you don't see any more service industries today. A customer who had dropped off a vacuum for service had returned for pick up. Alex presented the customer with his repaired vacuum, and advised the customer that the issue was simply a bad internal belt. He advised the customer that the repair was very minimal and an adjustment was all that was required and did the repairs free of charge. Today my mom and I went to Auburn Sew and Vac, she was having a problem with her sewing machine a Necchi NE30. Full disclosure, we bought the machine there in 2018. We were helped by Alex super friendly, super helpful, and very knowledgeable of the machine. He patiently walked my mom through using the button holer setting on the machine and even helped with a piece of equipment on the machine that wasn't working properly. I originally bought the machine from Auburn Sew and Vac because I really appreciated the small town feel and attitude they have towards their customers, I felt like they would truly stand by their product good bad or indifferent. They continually blow me away with their customer service and support and would encourage anyone to shop there if they're in the market for a new sewing machine or their parents are in the market and want to ensure they're treated well and not taken advantage of. 3 stars is generous, because I REALLY want to like this business. The people there are very nice, but I've had my machine in to them twice and it still doesn't work properly. The first time I took it in for a tune up and because the reverse didn't work. When I got it back the reverse still didn't work. I took it back in within about a month and he wanted to charge me again to fix it. After trying to explain that it wasn't fixed the first time he didn't charge me, but it was going to take another 2 weeks. The reverse now works but the zig-zag stitch does not, and I previously did not have issues with it. Maybe it's user-error, but I'll find someone else to fix it this time. read more

I stopped by a couple of weeks ago. I was greeted with the door opened for me as I approached. My Dyson portable vacuum stopped working and was cycling on and off. The young man took a listen and determined that it was just a clog. He took it to the back and came out 30 seconds later. All fixed. No charge. Done! Amazing that someone is so fast and gives such great customer service. He has lots of vacuums and such. Took our Hoover upright in there today as the brush was not turning. In less than 30 seconds he knew exactly what the problem was (a lever that engages the roller) without even opening the machine. He pushed it down, turned it on, and it works like a charm. He didn't charge us a penny. I bought some vacuum bags as a "thanks". I had just come from Vacuum & Sewing World (near Costco) in Roseville and he would not even look at my vacuum without a charge of about $115. I hadn't had a service on my old sewing machine in many many, years. I blamed the sewing machine but it was actually because I did not do regular maintenance. I was ready to get a new sewing machine, but they did an excellent job on bringing the machine up to working order and I couldn't believe it was like a new machine.
