Called Coastland regarding a Maytag microwave that suddenly stopped microwaving. Bill Klings responded and quickly identified the problem. He installed a temporary fix to get the microwave operational, ordered the correct part and returned a week later and installed it. His diagnosis was correct and the microwave is now working perfectly. Bill is honest, prompt, knowledgeable and his repair rates are very reasonable. If I could rate this company 0 stars I would, my mother had a freezer issue and called her service provider to request help getting the issue fixed. The man who came to fix the freezer was Bill Klinge he came in the house for about 5 minutes and claimed to immediately know what was wrong without even looking at the freezer and said he needed to order the part to fix it. He came back out about a week later and fixed a part in the very back of the freezer. Well surprise surprise the freezer was still broken so we called another technician in to look at the freezer. We showed him what the issue was and what part had been replaced by Bill Klinge, he let us know that the part Bill replace was in fact the incorrect part and had nothing to do with the issue the freezer was having in the first place. The second technician fixed the issue and replaced a part in the front panel of the freezer and we haven't had any problems since. My mother and I are very frustrated that we paid money to Bill when he didn't even do the job correctly nor was he even addressing the issue we had with the freezer, just replaced a random part. Would not recommend this business at all. read more

My Fidelity Home Warranty company hired Bill and his buddy to fix my microwave and dryer. WOW they are fabulous. Very knowledgable. I have had tons of repairmen in my homes, now I will request them for my appliances. He explained every repair, showed me the parts and they were efficient and only in my house for 20 mins the first time to diagnose and about an hour the second time to fix. We used Coastland since they were the recommended repair service for our new home warranty when our oven wasn't working. The first experience was great ... courteous, showed up when he said he would and came back when the replacement part was delivered. That's when the positive experience stopped. When our wine fridge went on the blink, we called Coastland for the repair and they came over quickly to diagnose. He couldn't quite figure out what was wrong since the fridge worked intermittently. We paid him the requisite $69 fee for the diagnosis, saying he would call the wine fridge company to find out how the issue could be fixed. And get back to us. Then... crickets. Two follow up phone calls to them and they have not called us back. It has been about two weeks. This company took the $69 and ran.. leaving us with a kitchen full of wine sitting on the floor. I won't be waiting for the call back. The ironic thing is... the service guy asked for a Yelp recommendation as he was leaving after repairing the oven. Ha! read more

This is the 2nd time that I was assigned Coastland Appliance by American Home Shield. Was originally assigned another company (with mostly 1 star ratings) but they called and said our house was "out of their service area". I contacted AHS and they assigned me Coastland appliance. I was extremely relieved that Bill was going to be coming back as he did a great job fixing our dishwasher last time. I was contacted by Bill within a day and I explained to him the problem that we were having with our microwave and he told me it was probably the door switch. He made an appt with me to come out in a few days. He came out, took apart the microwave, and concluded that it was indeed the door switch. Thought that he was going to have to order a switch and come back but he said he had the part and would install it that day. Really impressed with his knowledge and diagnostic ability. The owner is incredibly knowledgeable and reasonable. He was able to save our 30 year old Sub Zero Frig. We were thrilled that he could use a part from another manufacture (our frig was so old the part was no longer available). This was 6 months ago and the frig is still working. We had him back to fix our Front Load Washer, he went above and beyond! He had to help me remove a cabinet that the washer was inside of (no charge). He knew exactly what the problem was just by my description. He fixed it that day! So thankful for his experience and knowledge. Bill answered my call immediately when I first contacted him. Came the next day. Quickly determined the problem with my dishwasher and the part that was needed. Ordered the part that same day and let me know when it should arrive. It did not. It was delayed. Bill mentioned to me that he hoped it would be here by Monday, because he was leaving for two weeks on Tuesday. That Monday the phone rang at 4:10. It was Bill saying he had gone out to load their car for their trip and found our part on his porch. Called me immediately to see if it was OK to come right then. Absolutely. As he lives about 30 minutes away and with traffic he arrived at 5 and had the job completed by 6. I know what it is like when you are getting ready for a big trip. He could have not told us it had arrived and just left as scheduled, but he knew we were expecting a lot of company for Christmas and he is the kind of guy who does the right thing. Took a few calls to get them out in the 1st place. Bill fit us in after 5 to diagnose our dryer. He got to the problem quickly, and was able to give us a temporary part to get the dryer going while he ordered the correct part. He was paid in full, check was cashed the next day. He was supposed to come back the following week with the correct part and said he would clean out the dryer vent when he returned w/o charge. Well, it has been a few weeks now, they have never returned any of our calls, my dryer is still running, but it now squeaks. Where do I begin... The day before Christmas Eve our refrigerator stopped working. I called several local repair companies, of course, thinking no one would call me back during the holidays. Bill came out to diagnose a problem w/ our Samsung washer. He wouldn't have been able to complete the diagnosis because the units are stacked and in a tight spot, so he couldn't move the machines by himself to access the rear panel. Fortunately I had someone to help him move the machines, so he diagnosed the problem. Since the repair would be an expensive and specialized two person job, he recommended another shop that he felt was competent to do the work. He also waived his fee as he was unable to perform the repairs. I'd definitely use him again for appliance repair work. He's honest and makes a genuine effort to do the right thing. Just remember he works alone so be sure to fully describe your setup before you make your appointment. read more

Nothing but positive experiences with Coastland Appliance over the years. Several years ago he saved our Bosch dishwasher when the consensus was that it was toast. He also replaced parts on our SubZero and wall oven which were still under warranty. Recently he fixed our Samsung refrigerator which was not defrosting, and also replaced the icemaker motor. They don't stand by their work. Have a home warranty on my rental property, and the microwave quit working. Home warranty company set up with Coastland Appliance to do repair, and I paid the $65 service call fee. Repair person showed up in a timely manner, and made the repair. This lasted about a week, and then went back to having same EXACT problem as before. Now service tech TOLD my tenant that work was warranted for 30 days, and any problems, just give them a call. Which she did, and they refused to come out, and told her we would have to schedule again with home warranty company (meaning another $65 fee). They don't stand by their work or their word. Complained to home warranty company and hopefully have them removed from luist of recommended contractors. read more

Twenty-year old fridge went out. I was expecting the worst. Called Bill at Coastland for a next day appointment. He said he would be by within a two-hour window. Not only did he show up right at the beginning of that window, he called to let me know ahead of time. He was very courteous, friendly, and professional. He did not have the part in stock, but would order it; I agreed. After he left, I checked the part prices on-line, and his quote was well within the prices being charged by others. He called to let me know when the part came in, and made another two-hour window for the repair. Again, he called ahead of time, and again, he showed up during the first 15 minutes of that two hour window. He had the part installed and the fridge back up and running as good as new. (Or as good as a 20-year old fridge could be expected to run.) Best part: Bill charges not by the hour, but by 15-minute increments. You are not overpaying for unused time. I swear it took him at least 30 minutes to finish the job, but he only charged for 15 minutes. Most other repairmen would have charged for a full hour. He will be my go-to guy for my next appliance repair. read more
