I'm sad to be writing this review as they will be closing up by the end of this month after 14 years of business, but I wanted to talk about the impact that AuH2O had on me in being more aware of slow fashion. AuH2O was the first secondhand shop that I ever visited and it was my gateway to thrifting. I remember being a high schooler and just hopping on the train one day to go to this store not sure of what to expect (I am now a grown adult working that typical 9-5 job). The store is small and intimate but very cozy-feeling with the friendly staff. As with thrifting anywhere, some days can be a hit or a miss. The first day I came here, I spent over $100, but more often than not, I come out with nothing which is perfectly normal. Again, they have a small space so they need to try to get inventory out before they can put more in. They curate a bit of everything including fast fashion brands, but I have been able to snag knits here that were definitely prior to the 2000s which I am still rocking today. They also have an Instagram page you can buy from and pick up in the store. On Thursdays, if you are a student, be sure to flash your ID to get a small discount (I believe 10-15% off). After this month, they will be going all virtual via Instagram and Etsy, but be sure to stop by and support them beforehand if you have time!

Cute little thrift shop with rare finds. The lady working there is super nice, and I found a zebra top I liked along with some earrings.

Awesome jacket that I picked up at AuH20- everything else pictured is travel clothing!

I was in Roslyn for a meeting and specifically made a trip to visit this shop after browsing their Instagram. I am so glad that I did! There are a ton of great pieces here for really affordable prices. I picked up a Michael Kors leather jacket, a beaded romper, and an adorable pink pencil skirt. I'll definitely be back on my next trip!

This store is not my style, but if you want vintage it is a great place for you. The prices are amazing. I didn't see anything over 30. There was a five dollar rack and a ten dollar rack. Considering there were only 4 racks, not bad. Most of the comments are dead on. The store is tiny, but it doesn't take long to search the whole store. I only spent about 15 minutes in AuH20 but was able to see everything. About 5 "Regulars" came into the store and chatted with the owner. She was very friendly and knowledgeable about the customer's wants/needs. I say go, check it out. If the clothes are your type, frequent often.

The clothes are cheap, but it is a really small shop, so it's little hard to get stuff that you might like.

It has a fun and lively vibe with a mix of vintage items, handmade crafts, jewelry, artwork, clothing, collectibles, and food stands all in one place. What we liked most was how easy it was to spend a few hours just walking around and exploring different local vendors and small businesses. It made my visit to the Bazaar all the more pleasant. I've been coming to Grand Bazaar for more years than I care to remember, having taken a break for ten -- okay twenty -- years. Can't put my finger on why, perhaps I'm not as interested as I used to be. While the market is vibrant and busy, it's not as it was. Perhaps not as much diversity in wares. (I used to get a lot of pottery, art and vintage jewelry.) Back in the day, my friends and I would go to the East Village and buy funky old fur jackets for a song. I kind of had that in the back of my mind coming here. (There are many vintage coat vendors.) But prices have risen considerably. (What hasn't?!) The market is open Sundays, year 'round. Despite buying nothing, I know I'll be back. (Maybe coats get cheaper when it's warmer.) Plus, I like strolling around on the upper westside, which has a different flavor than the eastside, where I live.

But when things are normal, the lighting is excellent, the clothes are well organized and the staff is always, and I repeat, always polite and friendly. They are business people and this is their business and customers need to understand that. As with any business based on donations, you can find wonderful things at very reasonable prices or you can find nothing at all to your liking. But that is why Unique Boutique -- and each item is unique -- is so much fun. A note -- someone reviewed it saying "I called to ask about furniture and the guy said no and hung up the phone..." This is what I mean about customers not understanding retail...you asked a question, he answered it and why should he stay on the phone with you ? There is no way this store has the space to accommodate furniture and once that is clear, there is nothing more to say, so salespeople hang up. If you would like them to apologize for not taking or selling something impossible, that is what you expect culturally, but other people do not think that is necessary in what is not a personal relationship. You asked a question, you got an answer, good bye, move on.

I'm appalled by the way Jonathan, the owner, responds to many of the 1-star reviews here on Yelp. Not only does he appear to respond mostly to negative feedback, but his tone often comes across as rude and overly defensive. Jonathan, having a business for 30 years doesn't give you a free pass to be dismissive toward people who are simply sharing their experiences. There's always room for growth and improvement. Instead of being combative, take the time to really listen to your customers and consider their concerns--this could lead to positive changes and an even better shopping experience. That said, I visited this consignment store a few days ago, and Jonathan himself was actually very helpful and knowledgeable. He took the time to explain the consignment process and was very pleasant throughout. The store itself is a bit overcrowded with clothing and shoes, which can feel overwhelming, but the selection is solid and the pricing is reasonable considering the focus on high-end pieces. While the clothing leans more mature, there are definitely options for all ages. This shop is exclusively for women--I didn't see any men's items, but that's not a dealbreaker for me. The clearance section is located upstairs, and while I did find a lot of regular designer names, I didn't spot many high-end pieces there aside from a few pairs of shoes. Also, the upstairs area definitely needs better ventilation--AC or at least a few fans would make a big difference, as it was uncomfortably warm. As for handbags, I might have missed them since I was more focused on clothes and shoes, but I didn't see any notable high-end options in that category during my visit. I plan to return soon with more time to explore. Despite my concerns about how the owner responds to feedback online, I didn't experience any issues personally during my visit. I actually had a positive shopping experience, and I would recommend this store. I just hope that in the future, there's some improvement in how customer feedback is handled publicly--it really does make a difference.
