I bought a used Volkswagen Jetta in Feb. 2018. Along with that I purchased the Estate warranty from AUL. Fast forward to Sept. 2018. My dash lit up like a Christmas tree. ABS light came on, traction control light came on and parking brake light started flashing. During my first call to AUL I was told to take it back to where I purchased it. I called the dealership I bought the car from and was told they do not do that type of work. I'll admit, after that call I was expecting a lot of runaround. The next day I called AUL and told the rep what I was told and she told me "no problem. Take it to any licensed repair shop and they'll take care of the diagnosis and claims". I believe her name was Kim. I called my local Volkswagen service shop and scheduled an appointment. Dropped the car off and was told they'd call me with the diagnosis. They called me the next day and let me know the ABS module was bad. If anyone knows a little about cars this is not a cheap repair. Anyways, the service manager told me that they'd reach out to AUL and get back to me when a decision was made. Two days went by and I got a call telling me that not only is AUL going to cover my repair but they are going to cover a few other things that Volkswagen found during the inspection that I wasn't aware of. I have to say I was ecstatic with the response to this repair. I took the car in on Friday for a Saturday appointment. AUL is closed weekends but by Tuesday morning I had approval for the repairs. I am so glad I bought the extended warranty and also happier that I purchased from an integrity driven company like AUL. I will definitely purchase their service contract with all my future used car purchases. read more

Pathetic service and unethical business! Two authorized service centers (Honda Dealership) and (Texas Direct Auto - where I purchased the vehicle from), have identified the failure. The motor makes terrible noise and AUL's inspector denies the claim saying no failure. The agent over the phone won't help at all and cancel the call abruptly. They are crooked. read more

AUL Corporation... What an experience! They refused to cover an engine failure even though the cause of that failure was something they do cover. A blown head gasket caused the engine to overheat. Mechanics say new engine is the only fix. AUL refuses to do anything but fix the blown gasket. Calls to the company result in "bait and switch" behavior. Guess they are good at avoiding responsibility for their service contracts and for taking advantage of out-of-state customers. Guess next steps will involve contacting the states attorney and providing enough information to get these folks placed in a "do not use" list. read more

Bought a 2017 Explorer last month. Before my first payment was due the transmission went out. I had a AUL Service Contract so went through them to try and repair it. Everyone is very nice on the phone.But every attempt to check in on progress or verify what my mechanic (who has a five star yelp review) relayed to me was met with oh we didn't get the estimate from your mechanic. The mechanic had already forwarded me an email quote from AUL that was 2000 less than required to complete the repair. Meaning, he called AUL, gave them an estimate and they emailed him an amount they were willing to pay. When I called them THREE TIMES, they lied and said no one had ever gave them an estimate. So, to actually get this 'service contract' to fix my auto I had to conference call them with my mechanic and make sure they authorized the repair!! Their agent was trying to tell me that cost was more important to them than me getting a timely repair for a car I had not even paid one payment on! So, I will update you when the repair is done, but lying is not a business model and people who are filing insurance claims don't need additional harm and wrongdoing piled on top of their car issues, to ensure that AUL Corp makes enough profit on their obligations! Awful company when it comes to honoring contracts - had a covered part (disc brake caliper) fail and AUL said it failed cause of the bolt and the bolt in the caliper is not covered per very subjective and vague wording in the contract. Luckily it worked out since they havent even been paid for the contract its only 3 weeks old so now it will just be canceled - dumb on their part they could have paid 500-600 to repair it but instead they lose 2000 in the contract which is a net loss of 1400-1500 for them had nothing else gone wrong the next 23k miles. But DO NOT GET A WARRANTY FROM THEM THEY WILL NOT HONOR THE CONTRACT !!! read more

Bought this for peace of mind with my last vehicle and it's been a nightmare. I had this policy separate from my vehicle loan so it was to be processed from my debit card every month on the first. Of the 20 months I had the vehicle and this policy the transaction was rarely processed on the first, often times occurring up to a week later. Getting anyone on the phone is impossible. I've waited on hold only to get a voicemail. They charged my card even after I've gotten rid of the vehicle. Next step is going to my bank and having them reverse the charge. read more

I recently tried to use my warranty for a repair to the steering position module, lost communication, the module is bad. On my 2019 Toyota Tacoma. Elec control modules are listed at the contract section 7 but they refuse to pay. I had to Pay from my pocket almost one thousand dollar for this repair plus I wasn't able to rent a car because the repair wasn't approved by AULCorp to toyota of irving in Dallas tx. I was told when purchasing the warranty for $3,895.00 the warranty will cover everything bumper to bumper including diagnostic test. Everything besides routine maintenance items such as tires, spark plugs, oil changes and etc. all ok recorded calls. After taking my car to the dealership for repairs . I received notification that AUL wouldnt be covering any of the repairs and that I was responsible for the diagnostic test. I'd like to give an honest and objective view of my experience with AUL. First things first, before purchasing my extended warranty at the dealership I did my due diligence in researching about the vehicle I was about to purchase which was a 2015 BMW 5 series. I read various online communities/forums made up of current/previous owners of the same vehicle to get a feel of what issues I could encounter with this vehicle. I encourage everyone to do the same. I've had multiple BMW's however every vehicle,make or model has its fair share of issues. Secondly, while at the dealership and before I signed this contract I made sure to read through the contract about 2 times. I have not gone to law school or anything but the contract is quite straight forward and self explanatory. Also you have the internet you can look up any terminology that you may not understand. The dealership salesperson was slightly impatient with me but I made it quite clear to him that I'd have to read through the contract before signing and if he had something else to do he was welcome to leave, he obviously didn't. This goes back to my first point do your DUE DILIGENCE. If you are unfamiliar with contracts, go with a family member/friend or call one up. Since I had a good idea of issues with the vehicle I was purchasing based on my research which as with most European vehicles is engine Oil leaks I purchased the reserve coverage plus I made sure to include optional coverage that specifically applies to Oil leaks. This would cover my vehicle for 72 months and 100K miles and cost me $3,300 I bought the car with only 38k miles. Fast forward a couple of weeks ago during my regular oil change the dealership service department informed me of visible leaks in my valve cover gasket and oil filter gasket. I was obviously not thrilled but I remembered I had a warranty. I reviewed my contract and the specific repair was covered. I called the warranty company asked for detailed instructions as to what I needed, what was covered etc. I took my car back to the dealership, they sent to AUL pictures, repair work needed and costs. After some back and forth and a week later after the inspector was sent out to physically check out the car all my repairs were approved and AUL covered everything, all I had to do was pay my deductible which was $100. The total repair cost was over $2,200 from the BMW dealership which is overpriced and I also got approved for a car rental. Also regarding receipts/records of repair work the contract clearly states you need to save copies and also that regular maintenance of the vehicle is required as per the manufacturers repair manual. It goes without saying taking good care of your vehicle ie oil changes, tune ups isn't optional it's a MUST. If you happen to make some repairs personally or have a friend do it, keep receipts of parts purchased and briefly write it up with dates etc. also with everyone owning a smart phone I suggest taking pictures of receipts, old vs new part replacement. In conclusion, my advice is as consumers we all need to do some due diligence and have some level of self accountability in the contracts and agreements we sign. If you do not understand/grasp what you are signing you can call the actual company and ask them all the questions you'd like or don't sign it. Doing this upfront saves us a lot of time and financial commitment later down the line. As of writing this I believe I have so far got my value for money. I brought my BMW to my local dealer for service and they found an oil leak. I thought that I was glad that I purchased my 2500 warranty. Then the service rep at BMW called me back later and said AUL doesn't cover even close to the labor rate charged. BMW said AUL would have covered it if I had bought the warranty through the dealership. Basically I have to pay 100 dollars an hour for the work even though I have a warranty. I called AUL and after a bit of back and forth they said sorry but that's what they pay. I stated that the font should be larger and it should be called out better because I would not have purchased it. If the warranty doesn't cover labor rates on BMWs at reputable service locations then the warranty should not be sold to these kind of vehicles. I spoke to a manager named Ryan. I asked him if he can make an exception this time since work has started and provide me with reputable mechanics that work on BMWs in my area that charge their labor rate. He said he'd see what he could do about the labor on this service and could provide me a list of the mechanics. He said he would call me back within an hour. 3 hours later nothing. I called back and the person didn't know where Ryan was and would email him and she or Ryan would get back to me today. I said I needed to pick my car up in a couple of hours. I purchased a Yukon XL Denali last year and we have tried to use the warranty twice now for issues with my car and they have denied both claims. The most recent time was an electrical harness issue and they claimed they don't cover it because that isn't the exact part they cover. The employee on the phone named "Bre" is also a liar I told her I wanted to cancel the contract and give me my money back and she strangely couldn't find my paper that was faxed to them by the dealership. My wife's SUV broke down on a Saturday. AUL is closed on the weekend so I had two days to read reviews about the company online. O.M.G., I couldn't find ONE good review, only disaster stories. I didn't sleep for two nights, seriously. I have had experiences with warranty companies in the past and was aware that in general, they are notorious for finding ways not to pay out so I prepared myself for a battle. Monday morning arrived. I made a pot of coffee, grabbed a pack of cigarettes, and a box of tissues (just a small box:) I called the warranty division of AUL and provided the lady with my ID number which was clearly marked on the paperwork. I explained my problems. She asked a series of questions. I could tell she was taking notes. After about 5 minutes she told me to call the towing division of AUL and have my SUV towed. I asked if I could use MY mechanic. She said yes have it towed to your mechanic. I called the towing company. They arrived really fast, took the SUV and dropped it off at my mechanic. OK, so far so good. After my mechanic diagnosed the problem ($3500 estimate to replace parts including the engine) I called AUL. They informed me that my mechanic needed to call them. My mechanic called AUL. Now here is the most important piece of advice I can share with folks who have a warranty. Make sure the engine oil is changed at least every 3000 miles. Do not go over. And very important, keep proof of all oil changes. All AUL asked for was proof of regular engine oil changes. Luckily we had that info. If you cannot provide that proof I can say with a high degree of certainty, your warranty will probably be null & void. AUL sent an inspector to my mechanics shop to verify the diagnosis. He O.K.'d the work but, there was a 3000 dollar cap. This surprised me as I had read the warranty from top to bottom at least 3 times AND read every word on AUL's website. Nowhere did I find information on a maximum. Now I could have battled to have them cover the extra 500 dollars but when I thought about the countless horrific reviews I had found online I felt I shouldn't rock the boat. Be grateful that they were covering $3000 of the bill and move on. Now to be fare to AUL, I had no personal experience that warranted any fear that they would close the door in my face so to speak if I pushed to have the full amount covered. It was all those bad reviews that affected my decision. So in closing. AUL came through for us. They were professional and courteous. If I could advise them on anything it would be please make it clear on the warranty paperwork AND on your website that you have a cap on what you pay out. My advice for anyone with a warranty. Before you take your car to YOUR mechanic ask if they 1) Have experience working with your warranty company and 2:) if they require a down payment before working on your car. My mechanic hadn't worked with this warranty company before and was not familiar with their policies or procedures. We ran into a few snags that I believe if my mechanic wasn't a good guy I may have had problems. His policies and procedures were different from AUL's, but he did me a favor and adapted to the situation. It may be best to take your car to a mechanic that has worked with the warranty company that way the mechanic is aware and familiar with the companies policies. That's it. The car is fixed. Running better than ever and AUL came through with flying colors. read more

At the end of September I had the unfortunate experience of having my transmission on my Chevrolet Uplander start to fail on me, I took my vehicle to my local AAMCO transmission shop and the results were not good. They found failure to the transmission was shot and said that it would need to be replaced. I informed Dave at AAMCO that I had an AUL service contract.. He took my copy of the contract and said that he would give them a call. The next day, I received a call from Dave at shop that he said that he had contacted AUL and that they were covering the cost not only of the transmission repair, but also that the found the p/s rack and pinion was leaking and also had oil leaks on the intake manifold and that were all being covered by my contract !! Dave said that he has been in the business for many years and he said that he has never worked with an extend service company that was as professional as AUL that he always has a good experience with them.. so I wanted to give AUL a shout out ... I purchased their Estate service contract. In the contract under drivetrain in the transmission section it clearly lists "ALL INTERNALLY LUBRICATED PARTS" are covered parts. They refused to cover the transmission range sensor on my 2015 Ford F250 which is inside the transmission, is a moving part, and is surrounded by transmission fluid... hence... is an internally lubricated part. AUL SCAMMED ME. When I noticed an oil leak in my newly bought used car I took it to my trusted mechanic. He had a hard time confirming my claim with AUL. I called AUL, they told me my account wasn't officially active yet. They had me email them my copies of the contract and bill of sale. After they received this info they told me to go ahead with the repairs and they would reimburse me. Two days later mechanic still cant confirm claim number. I call AUL again. They tell me it should be fine by tomorrow. The next day I find out AUL will not except my warranty enrollment. They refuse to except any claim and don't care that they put me in a financial hardship. THEY ARE HORRIBLE PEOPLE AND THEY DO BAD BUSINESS. How about you fire the people that are obviously just handling all these bad reviews and put the money towards a better, honest company. read more

A warranty company that preaches "Were here to help" but acts otherwise, amazing to me how FACTORY Mopar balljoints that wore out at 100k miles on a 2012 Ram are suddenly from plowing our personal driveway with a tiny 6ft 400lb plow 5x this mild winter thats about as much as the huge ranch hand front metal bumper they had no issue covering draglinks for.....Do not use them, they do not care about you as the consumer only how much of your wallet you'll hand them. This place is a JOKE!!!! DO NOT use them. My rear end deferential went out. Took it straight to the Mazda dealership. I had an inspector from this company come out and decided they would NOT cover this ...which is part of the drive train. The report said had been leaking a along time. No sign on any of my concrete parking areas. How the heck would you know? you have lights that come on showing when your windshield wiper fluid is low but none for an important part like this?????I have my SUV serviced for oil and tire rotation, never has anyone said they saw a leak. Where did the fluid go? oh I guess it eveporated. The customer service people have been trained well. Kept saying...I know how you feel. NO YOU DO NOT!!!! my reponse and if you aren't in my shoes how could you know??? $5,500 to repair. 3 months after purchasing my car my right axle popped on me. They repaired it no problem. Sadly foward a few months the left one popped as I was entwring my drive way. Took it to Marks Independant Volvo and he showed me all that was wrong with the car and that the boot of the axle snapped in half. He reached out to Aul and sent them all the photos needed to document the issue at hand and they refuse to cover it stating that it couldnt break without cause. Mark found no water in the joint, no blunt force, he explained that the only cause would be the axle. Oh which is an aftermarket part a cheap one at that. On top of that they won't honor the collapsed engine mount that they said theyd do when I had the car looked at by my local volvo dealership. They called on my review and provided more of their "customer service". I am to forget everything that happened from my last call because it is a "new day". I thought I was in church. What I don't understand I submitted a car rental receipt for 5 days for $181.99 and due to the cost of weekly rate being less expensive then 5 individual days the rental agency charged by for the week rate. They say they will pay based on weekly rate divide by 7 which does not make sense. The receipt is for 5 days not 7. Cannot help on other issues with service. read more

Horrible car warranty! They do whatever they can to keep from paying for anything. This warranty was 2400 dollars. Have a strut that is completely out and the other 3 are not far behind. They only want to pay for the one that is completely out. This as far as my mechanic says makes the car ride off. I've already had to replace tires in under 20,000 miles because of the struts. Don't waste your money on this car warranty it's not worth it. They'll take your money and not cover anything even if it says they will in contract. I recently 05/02/17 purchased a sweet 04 Duramax 178k miles,by all industry standards a decent truck, I purchased a Warranty, I just dropped 15k on this nice ride and knew that a warranty would be come in handy if the turbo ,tranny, you know high ticket items went out I would be covered . well guess what ??? 5 weeks later check engine light comes on ..... straight to dealer. ten days later.... I'm informed that claim denied due to pre existing condition. I'm little confused on how that determination is made, but I am not confused on what was presented to me at the time that I purchased warranty. clearly I have even a turbo surcharge on my contract. I believe the dealer did not sell me a truck with a preexisting condition only to sell me a warranty for preexisting condition. Truck has been in shop for ten days to this point...... I now ten days into this headache call AUL, I was greeted very professionally on the phone by a customer care rep, she took her time to review my case and for most part she confirmed that the inspector did deny claim but that the dealership has appealed his decision pending further information??? She continued to hear me rant about the fact that I purchased this warranty to avoid having a problem and now this warranty itself has delayed my truck getting repaired, remember I'm ten days into this debacle. She cordially excused herself with notifying me she was going to notify supervisor for some decision and she would call me back. my option if the deny the appeal will be to to fork up the 6k in repairs not the best option, cancel warranty use to offset cost. Horrible customer service, horrible record keeping, and horrible management. Every time I call they are out of the loop. My mechanic from a major dealership called multiple times from the 3rd to the 13th of August but you have no record. You have no record of work done that I've paid for. I have a warranty you don't want to cover. I paid to remove valve to check for carbon on piston. Well no carbon and piston needs to be replaced but now you order a complete engine tear down which we MAY be responsible for. No! I am responsible for diagnostic but the mechanic doesn't even say it is a diagnostic. Fix the problems not find more excuses!! Don't say management is not there but there on the phone in 5 minutes. See you at small claims since you want to be petty. Your lawyer will cost more than my $100 or less to submit. read more

One of the biggest rip off companies I have worked with. They use loopholes to the max!!! A valve cover that is damaged when the valve spring and guide breaks, causing an oil leak. They said the valve cover is not covered because it not listed as a part in the powertrain. Is the valve cover mot part of the engine??? Is the engine not part of the powertrain??? Not according to AUL. I guess I was another stupid buyer of a warranty that has loopholes to not pay claims. read more

This is the absolute worst warranty company out there. You're better off with no extended warranty than wasting your money on this garbage. The sales reps that sign up the dealerships mislead the the dealers regarding coverage. So sales people sell a contract to a customer thinking that certain items will be covered when in fact they are not. If you have to call in a claim be prepared to wait on hold for 30 minutes before your call is answered, only for it to be denied because of fine print they sneak into their contracts. You will need oil change records for any repair even if your oil and engine have nothing to do with the problem. I strongly advise any dealer to not sell or stop selling their contracts. I am very unhappy with this company. The car which had the contract is a crumpled aluminum box, and has been for over a month. I let a service representative know the week it happened. They said charges would stop immediately. I can't prove whether or not they charged that month, but last month, they did. It was completely out of left field and put me in a really tough spot, and now I'm trying to cancel this contract a whole month later, finding out I have to jump through twice as many hoops as I was initially told. I would like the fraudulent payment refunded, as well as the overdraft fee I was charged as a result of the negligence of that initial employee. Most positive things I can say are that the phone people are polite and straight-forward. Never got to use the contract, so can't speak to the actual service either. read more

I really didn't have to do much but give the service department my contract number and their phone number and my truck was fixed three days later. Only negative was they wanted to use a reconditioned rack so I had to pay the difference for a new oem part on top of the $100 deductible. read more

I have had the misfortune of dealing with 2 inhospitable companies in trying to get my car repaired unfortunately AUL has been one of them. I read the terms of my contract and have been sure to get my regular maintenance such as oil changes. When I became aware recently that I needed a water pump I was distraught until I realized this is something my warranty covers. First I read my brochure which confirmed my coverage then before taking the car to a shop I called your company and supplied my information and was assured this was a covered item. I took my car to the only BMW repair shop I know of and gave them my warranty information. I was later told by the repair shop that because in December they had written several other "possible problems" and recommendations the water pump was considered a pre existing condition and would not be covered. I was shocked because until recently my car was fine, no lights, no leaks, no issues. I quickly realized when the repair shop said that they were "unsure" of the problem but could fix something else for $400 and write a letter clearing the water pump issue that the shop was hustling me. I quickly call AUL to explain the situation I was in with an untrustworthy shop making up repairs to maximize profit and asked that they review my denial because nothing was wrong with my water pump initially. I spoke with the supervisor Charlie who said I would have to work with the repair shop and if they said their initial diagnosis was incorrect the part may be covered. I explained to Charlie that the shop was dishonest and wanted to charge me $400 for a retraction. I asked Charlie for another solution. I explained I was not asking him to take my word for it but asked for an alternate solution or to be sent to another shop of AULs choosing for a second opinion. Charlie refused he provided no customer service. He did not try to work with me. He provided me no alternative. I paid significant money for this warranty and at the first chance they disappoint me with their lack of customer service rigidity and overall dismissal of customers needs. I will avoid any dealings with this company like the plague. read more
