We stopped in for drinks and ended up making this our dinner spot. Overall, filling eats, but nothing particularly stood out. For apps, we had the spinach and artichoke dip, corned beef sliders, loaded tots, pickle chips, and curry chips. The spinach and artichoke dip stood out the most to me. It was warm and creamy, and came with a good portion of nacho chips. Perfect for a cold winter evening 3.5/5. Corned beef sliders were alright, the cheese was a bit hard on the tots (they were freshly fried though). The pickle chips (literally just pickles deep fried) were an interesting combination, but I wouldn't get them again. The curry fries were also interesting, but I'm generally into curry 3.25/5. I got the corned beef boxty (traditional Irish potato pancake, similar to a crepe) as a main. It came with sides of seasonal veggies (your run of the mill broccoli, mushrooms, and carrots). The pancake itself was topped with apple-onion relish, horseradish mayo, and swiss cheese. The pancake was neither flour-y nor starchy-- not that exciting a texture, and I would have preferred one or the other. They are a very traditional Irish food though, so I blame my tastebuds on this one. It was interesting to try. The corned beef was fairly standard. Veggies were also just normal. 3/5 on taste. I've been coming to the Dub for years and have so many wonderful memories here. It's a great place to meet friends and have a beer and a bite. Even bartender was using his cellphone then laughing himself. Nobody care us. There was a lot of empty table, seem like bad management to us. SOLID showing, and excellent service. Food was delicious and while I wished I had slightly less carbs everywhere, everything was well made and fresh. I went with a group of coworkers, in for a company sponsored trip, and we ordered several items and drinks, not exactly at the same time, but the waitress made me feel like we were being taken care of, not just processed through the meal. We had people join us and leave intermittently, and they were ready to serve and make sure we had what we needed. Stopped for lunch here after hiking up to top of Squaw Valley through the Shirley Lake Trail. It was a hard and long hike, so we were ready for some grub! Thankfully, they had some vegan options which was very much appreciated! Boyfriend and I shared a vegan bratwurst. Unfortunately, bun isn't vegan, but they made the dish vegan by putting it on the side. Perfect. It was tasty with the onions and sauerkraut. We also shared the curry fries which were very delicious. The curry came in a rather big bowl so there was a lot left over that we weren't able to finish with the amount of fries that came. But not a problem. Also shared a harvest salad with cheese on the side. Not the best salad, but not disappointing or anything. I got a mule and that was great after such a long hike. My friend got their pub burger and said it was the best burger ever!!! At least up in the Top 10 of all the burgers he has had! This comes from someone that can BBQ like nobody can!!! As for me... Delightful afternoon here at this place, We drove up to meet some friends and decided to eat here. The food was DELICIOUS . Our waiter was funny and very chill, he recommended a few things on the menu to try. We started with Ruben fries, artichoke spinach dip , and some beers too. Everything was fabulous, then we ordered dinner, I had the blackened Ahi salad, the best I've ever had. Friends ordered Fish & chips, LOVED it. My husband ordered a cheeseburger. . . It was HUGE and delicious, meat was tasty he said. All around a great evening with our friends and we are going to make this our new spot for date nights once a month. Thank you for a great day!! It's Wanderlust and we have an hour to kill before Michael Franti goes on stage. I seem to be the only female within a 5-mile radius not wearing yoga capris or boasting a BMI of 5% or who doesn't follow a gluten-free, dairy-free, non-GMO diet. Fortunately, my Wanderlusty friends still choose to hang out with me (I know too many of their drunken secrets), so they pick this bar for something to eat and drink. Did I not review this place yet? Golly. Well, let me start by saying that the Guinness is poured perfectly. And if you have it outside in the ski season, the drink just gets chiller and tastier as it goes down, unlike the usual scenario with beer where it gets warmer and flatter later on in the drink. The hot toddy also really hits the spot if you need some warmth. But beyond the drinks, what really scores here is the Guinness beef stew. You can share between two people, and this really hits home after a day on the slopes when the stomach is craving hearty calories. I want another one just typing right now. Great place to sit and sip a brew or two. Tasty pub fare. I had the Whiskey Mushroom burger after climbing from the base all the way to high camp via Shirley Lake Trail. Well deserved. My husband enjoyed the Ahi Salad (he was so good)...he thoroughly enjoyed each bite. Said the dressing was fabulous. I saved him a third of my burger. My family stopped here on our way back to the Bay Area from our friend's cabin in Tahoe City. Man, I love Tahoe. Anyway, I had purchased a $25 restaurant.com gift certificate so we waded through the skiers and snowboarders to this cool little place. We started off with Curry Chips (french fries with curry sauce) and Potato Jackets (potato skins). Both were yummy and for some reason my toddler went crazy for the curry sauce. Who knew? For my entree I got the Half Cornbeef Sandwich with a Side Salad. That sandwich was pretty delicious. I also tried my hubby's Rasher & Cheese Boxty which was yummy. Kinda like an Irish quesadilla. The prices were pretty high for lunch, but this is Squaw. Hopefully next time I won't be pregnant so I can have a Guiness and really enjoy this place. read more

An "authentic" Irish bar full of ropes, lanterns, old signs, books on the shelf, old photographs, and unidentifiable antiques. So heavy-themed that if they added one more map of Kildare it's gonna fall through the earth's crust and lodge somewhere in the mantle, an event that will probably be missed by the happily drunk bar patrons. Very dark, full of wood, the bright sun outside comes through mainly as indirect reflections bounced a couple times off dark laquer. Bar is always full, the dining rooms are empty or full depending on the season and the hour. An extensive menu ranging from traditional Irish pub food to steaks and more modern Irish things (e.g. curry chips), at prices you would expect. Only six or eight beers and a cider on tap but they're the right ones. I put authentic in quotes because I've never been to Ireland much less a pub there. So I don't know whether I've stepped into the Brazen Head or Disneyland. . . probably the latter because I hear that real irish pubs don't serve food. But it sure feels like you're in Ireland, if only Ireland were a land of vast snow covered moutnains inhabited by a multiracial crowd in parkas and ski boots. Good times, good times. It's the only sit-down breakfast in the village (for which I added one star), yet surprisingly has plenty of tables on the weekend. Most of the breakfast items are egg- based, except for pancakes and french toast. Terrible service. We walked in and no one greeted us, the bar is right by the front door and the bartenders could care less that we were waiting to be served. We asked a waitress how to be seated and they told us to wait by the hostess stand. After already waiting over 5 minutes we went back and waited and alerted the bartenders that no one was helping us. They basically shrugged their shoulders and I said we will go somewhere else. Makes sense that hardly anyone was there besides at the bar. They advertise breakfast but clearly are losing a bunch of clients. And this is the week before Christmas, should be a busy time. Unacceptable. read more

We stopped for lunch at Auld Dubliner -- and were satisfied enough to know we would return if we ever visit Squaw Valley again. A bit of chill in the air so the potato leek soup was a good way to start my meal. Hamburgers are often my "test" for a restaurant. Auld Dubliner met the test with a good burger that was topped with mushrooms and Swiss cheese. Excellent bun. Decent glass of red wine. DH enjoyed his fish and chips. Terrible service and staff! We walked in and were waiting for a host to come help us with seating. Another couple ahead of us were waiting for longer than us. There were a few unoccupied tables. While we were waiting, a few customer at the bar went and grabbed one of the empty tables. Confused about what's going on, I reached out to a server and asked her if there is anyone to help us get a table. She gets a tone with me - "we don't have hosts during off season. You just grab a table". Btw, there is a LARGE sign outside- "please see the hostess to be seated". Anyway, we walked in to grab a table and the same server comes out and says with the same effing tone - we aren't seating anyone for 15-20 mins. Gosh, their staff is the worst ever. We love this place and go at least once, if not twice, every time we are in Tahoe. Even when crowded, the service is always great. Their drinks are reasonably priced. Give the hot buttered rum a try when it's cold outside. The bangers and champ is great, as is the shepherd's pie.
