Visited the Dubliner on our trip to Tahoe earlier this month. Central location, cider on tap, great food and awesome service. Meh.....didn't really have a good experience. Sat outside and ordered drinks and food. The drinks came out 20 minutes later and then the food came out cold. Felt like we were just sitting there forever. There was only two of us. One of us got the crispy tacos and the other got the blackened tacos. Everything was really expensive for being so-so. I mean, if you're going to charge these types of prices......at least have the service, food, and drinks be dialed in. The whole place was in a lil' disarray and they looked terribly understaffed. I had to go search for my server just to get the check. Seems like it has the potential and the location for being a really good place.....but unfortunately, it comes up terribly short. We had my son's rehearsal dinner at Tres Amigos and a welcoming party at Auld Dubliner which are both owned by the same operators. The management/ownership and staff took very good care of us, our family and our guests. Poor service; after waiting almost 15 minutes we had to go find a waitress to take our drink order only to have her spill an entire glass of tea on my friend, he had to go buy a new T Shirt because his was soaked. The waitress did take all of the drinks off our final bill, but no manager even came by to apologize. We ordered a bunch of food that was all really good, especially the Brussel sprouts. What is an Asian American who doesn't drink beer doing in an Irish Pub? This Pub is one of the few restaurants open daily during the summer in Olympic Village. We go in, and the place is empty. Directed to a comfortable booth, with overhead TVs showing soccer matches from abroad. Clean place, with smoky glass, intimate booths, and a circular exterior. Multiple waitresses on duty, but with few customers. Well the evening is still young. I order the $17 Irish beef stew, listed on the menu with potatoes and carrots, while the wife orders the $16 corned beef with cabbage. Service is good, with our dishes arriving in about 6 minutes. The wife's dish comes with a good portion of corned beef, lots of potatoes and carrots in a cream pickle sauce. Definite thumbs up. My dish looks like a soup, with hunks of beef drowning in a sea of onion like beef sauce, with two slices of toast on the sides. Further examination reveals a large scoop of mashed potatoes underneath the waves. The beef is tasty, but where's the carrots and potatoes as listed on the menu? Didn't send the meal back, as I didn't want them getting any ideas of adding saliva to the meal, but should have asked for a side plate with the carrots and potatoes as listed on the menu. My husband has an obsession with anything Irish so he insisted we try this restaurant. I wasn't excited because I assumed this would be another boring pub, but they really exceeded my expectations. The Village at Squaw Valley was pretty busy on Saturday evening of Labor Day weekend, but we didn't have a problem getting a table here. Our waiter took good care of us and was never far away. The inside of the building is very cozy and I enjoyed people watching at our table next to the window. We started with the corned beef sliders and a couple of beers. The corned beef sliders had a great blend of flavors. There was plenty of corned beef and then the grilled onion, pickles, cheddar, and horseradish mayo really kicked it up a notch. For my meal I had the corned beef boxty. I loved this. First, I loved that the meal was served with vegetables because it seems like vegetables are usually hard to come by at restaurants like this. I may be on vacation and splurging, but I still need the good stuff too! The boxty was great, basically a crepe, but made with potato. Genius. The simple boxty coupled with swiss and corned beef was delicious. The apple onion relish on top was fun, but unnecessary. My husband had the bangers and champ. He thought it was pretty good, but was eyeing my corned beef boxty the entire meal. This meal was also a a nice mix of items with sausage, mashed potatoes and gravy, and mixed vegetables. First time I got the vegetable boxty, the second time I got a cobb salad. There aren't many veggie options per se but I've noticed that being the case in general over the area. The veggie boxty was good, though I wish I had more food really to go with it. Nice curry flavor to round everything out. The cobb salad was meh. The veggies were wilted or semi old. Mostly just the meat of the dish without real balance because there wasn't much of the veggies either. I also tried one of the carrots from a friends wings. Also a mistake. That carrot was sour and definitely going bad. I may come here to drink again but food wise I wouldn't get anything that depends on fresh ingredients or it being served raw. First of all, Maria, the hostess who greeted us as soon as we walked into this restaurant, who also was our waitress, was awesome in every way. She was friendly, knowledgeable about the dishes, and just overall provided us with a very nice dining experience. Our orders were taken promptly, and the drinks and food arrived in practically no time. Portion sizes were really good for the prices, given that you are in the middle of squaw valley. You won't go wrong with their corned beef and cabbage, shepherd's pie, and the vegetables were absolutely delicious. What made this experience memorable is also that before we walked into this restaurant, we were at a different restaurant just about 50 ft away in the squaw valley village. I won't mention any name but that restaurant name starts with a number. My advice is do not go to that restaurant! That restaurant has had a long history of poor service and we personally experienced it. In fact, there was NO service, so we walked out of there and came to the Irish pub instead. On a recent visit to Tahoe I wandered in seeking shelter from the weather. Anticipated staying no longer than a beer as I was waiting my group who were on the slopes. After joining me, my group of 9 found a nice corner with enough space to accommodate us with a giant round table where we enjoyed a beautiful meal of fish & chips, delicious wings, sliders and of course my Irish go to, Shepherd's pie! One of the best I've had. Not to mention a full bar with everything your heart could desire up to and including many delicious whiskeys, Roe & Co was my choice of the day. And no Irish pub would be worth their salt unless they do a fine Guinness pour! Was not disappointed. We came in to try their Irish Coffee on a blustery cold day. It exceeded our expectations so we stayed for dinner. I had the fish and chips. The batter was crispy and the fish inside was nice and thick and moist. My husband had the Salmon Boxty that was big enough for two. He's picky about salmon but love this dish. They also have the best deep fried pickles I've ever had. All the food came to us hot and the service was great. We will certainly be back to the Auld Dubliner on our next visit to Squaw. read more

Worst service I've had in squaw valley. Stood at the door for 10 minutes with no hostess. Left, came back to the same experience. A server welcomed me to sit at the bar instead of waiting for the host. There were plenty of tables, but I tried the bar. As I sat I was invited to sit with a group of jubilant pub crawlers, where i sat for 20 mintues with absolutely zero service! I heard the food was good so after leaving with the crawlers I returned to try again. Still no host even though they weren't slammed, so I sat at the bar and ordered the fare. I tried the cheese curds and stopped quickly to share them with the other bar patrons in fear of the impending constipation. The ahi tower was amazing and i highly recommend the order. I am not surprised reading other reviews about people getting food poisoning and rude staff. My experience: "Welcoming" blond lady started serving us in a very unwelcoming manner: there was no simple greeting whatsoever. I still decided to give it a chance and notified there were two of us and a little child. First thing she said in a strict and demanding manner was that we would sit inside or wait for ~30 minutes. I turned out to be more "attentive" and notified her that I saw two adults leaving the table on outside area and there are no other guests waiting, so I asked if we could still sit outside. She pushed back with demanding tone that there were only two chairs but I still didn't want to give up and reminded that we indeed needed two adult chairs and just additonal high chair which would perfectly fit in that space. In the end, that lady looked overly defeated, she grabbed the highchair and banged it in front of the table. That was the last straw for me and my husband. It was July 5th, afternoon. After this incident, lots of thoughts crossed my mind starting from if she allows herself to bang chairs and openly express negativity what more she can do, especially while serving food to us.... Of course, I never went back to that restaurant again and what is more; I heard similar stories about that exact lady from friends visiting that restaurant. People may have "bad days" or they may be going through some stressfull lifecycle but it should not reflect on customers' trust which is especially crucial in food industry. read more

While we waited we ordered a round of beers and some drinks. Our table got called about 30 minutes later and they told us because we ordered at the bar we couldn't sit. We offered to cash out at the bar because we were all planning to order meals. We waited 30 minutes, we were texted our table wa ready and were not allowed to sit. I would never wait to come here and after this shenagins it's clear they are not an organized well run establishment.
