The sweet & sour slaw on my brat was fantastic (and full disclosure: I'm generally NOT even a fan of coleslaw, but thought I should try it as it is rather than removing it), along with the mustard. The bun was fresh and not falling apart with everything on it; the freshly baked pretzel was so good it might have ruined every other pretzel for me; the biercheese was one of the best I've ever had. Half of our party are vegan -- there were several veggie options available and everyone left satisfied. The place is fairly small but their patio area outside was great for enjoying a beer before exploring the area. It's been a week since our visit and I'm still daydreaming about the food. The place has an open warehouse feel - you basically see everything on a longish room. I think there are around 14 taps but several were spent from the weekend. I ended up trying: * Tom Hayze - Pale Ale - American 6% ABV - Excellent pale with juicy fruity notes, fairly crisp finishing dry, hoppy and a touch grassy. 4.5/5 * Dom Parleaux - Sour 7% ABV - Tasty sour, tart fruity notes of raspberry and pomegranate. It's actually 7%. 4.1/5 * It's Not A Put Down I Put My Foot Down - IPA American 6.4% ABV - Hard to call this west coast, big sweet tropical and citrus body, hardly bitter on the finish. Still tasty. 3.8/5 * Barrel #33 - Farmhouse/Saison 6% ABV - Really unexpected mixed ferm tart saison, fruity sweet flavors, finishing funky and a touch woody, very satisfying. 4.3/5 * Law Dog - Bitter - Extra Special / Strong (ESB) 6% ABV - Mellow ESB, fairly easy drinking, malty note ls of caramel well balanced by medium bitterness. 3.7/5 * In the Secret Space of Dreams - Stout - Imperial / Double 11% ABV - Thin bodied stout, registers as barrel aged, notes of brandy filled chocolate and dried dark fruit. 4.2/5 All around great experience if a bit sleepy - it included some great conversation with the beertender around local brewing. There appears to be street parking as well as some available lots nearby. Walking up from the water the first thing you see is this gigantic New Orleans mural and it's indicative of the brewery inside the same building - huge warehouse, it even has camper parked inside with a bar that extends much of the back wall. There are picnic tables so plenty of seating. I was there an early Monday afternoon so it wasn't busy at all, but I could imagine it being filled with lines to satisfy throngs of partygoers. There are five vertically placed flat-panel monitors with a variety of drink-menu options. I chose to get a flight of beers I hadn't had previously which ended up being 4 varietals of their King Cake Ale: * Cake Ale - Pale Ale - Other 6% - Creamy pale, almost registers as a fruited sour, sweet body with notes of almond, amaretto, cinnamon and vanilla. 4/5 * Coconut King Cake Ale - Pale Ale - Other 6% - Milky coconut in this almost tart King Cale ale, getting notes of both raw and toasted coconut, almond, amaretto, sweet vanilla and cinnamon. 4.3/5 * Almond Crème Strawberry King Cake Ale - Pale Ale - Other 6% - Creamy body with distinct almond note followed by vanilla and cinnamon. 4.2/5 * Strawberry King Cake Ale - Pale Ale - Other 6% - Fruity tart strawberry in this pale ale, finishes fruity and sweet, a touch dry. 4.1/5 Overall I enjoyed the beers I had - all very drinkable. The cinnamon was a bit much all at once, these are almost dessert beers and better taken in small amounts after you've slammed a few of their staple beers, in my opinion, but I'm still very glad I had them. The staff and service was good with an efficient demeanor - I think if they were slightly friendlier I might have stuck around and tried more of what they offered but as my second brewery (and plans for more exploration in the evening) I decided to keep things neat with this single flight. Afterwards I walked back up to St Charles and took a short nap and got cleaned up for evening shenanigans.

During Mardi Gras if you want to brave the crowds on a Saturday, you can pair them with slices of King Cake from Doung Phong bakery. Urban South is a large warehouse with cool decor, pinball machines and tons of picnic tables. There are also 4-5 picnic tables outside along with a permanent food truck. They also bring in other food vendors from time to time and have crawfish boils all the time in season. My only issue with the place is if the garage doors are down, the place can smell like...well a brewery. Breweries do not smell good and Urban South's tap room is not separated from the rest of the brewery.

No pretzel bites, no pretzel hot dogs, no pepperoni pretzels, out of all sauces besides caramel, etc. Everything tasted good and and the food was warm, but it was a bummer to be unable to buy all the yummies I was interested in that early afternoon.

It was good, but a little overpriced at $3. What they should do is charge less so that people are more inclined to get more than one! Right?
