I'm a member of a local fraternity in the area. For events they usually order pizza from this location, sometimes we dine in. I can honestly say to you as a lifelong pizza guru, having tried them from all over the city and the nation. This is by far the worst pizza location I've ever had in my entire life. From stuffed, deep dish, to thin. Sure I've tried them all because I was hungry and it was all that was offered to us at our events. Every time though, this place is consistently garbage. That's the only good thing about them. Dough is soggy, sauce lacks flavor, they use cheap cheese, and even yellow cheese In their pizza. I'm more of a La villa, Giordano, malnati, sometimes Rosati, sometimes Nancy guy. Hell I'll take a frozen pizza over this place any day. Also the service isn't very good at the dine in. read more

I always enjoyed Aurelio's, however hadn't been there in a while, and after last night's experience I won't be back. Cons: - The Calamari was obviously cheap, bagged frozen product. It was rubbery and pieces were way overcooked and grey. - The Fettuccine is the absolute worst I've ever had in my life. Tastes like someone bought the cheapest sauce they could find and added water to it. The chicken had zero flavor. I wouldn't feed this to my dog. - The BBQ Chicken pizza had always been a favorite of mine, however the chicken was dried out and tasted off. Pros: - The waitress was a very sweet and understanding about the Fettuccine Alfredo, as we took two bites and sent it back. The employees seem great - just need to fix the food. read more

Wife took me here for my bday lunch. We've always enjoyed the pizza, and the cheese pizza is as good as it always is. The rich, garlicky crust is the best around. Wife, and daughter loved the pizza. Unfortunately, I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich, and it was the worst chicken sandwich I have ever eaten. This includes frozen dinner chicken. I cannot compare the meat to a hockey puck, because the puck would be softer. The chicken was so hard, I decided to give up halfway through, and just ate the pizza. This is a franchise pizza joint identified by partiality, you love it or you hate it! The reason for this is so skewed it's pathetic...the "Sauce". If you know pizza you know Aurelio's has sweet sauce. They tell you, Aurelio's makes a point to tell you "it's in the sauce" and it's sweet! This is subliminal for people lacking a sweet tooth, they just won't like it because they were told ahead of time not to. C'mon, it's not that sweet that it rots your frickin teeth. I happen to like sweet sauce once in a while. The fact is, this franchise does not put enough sweet sauce on your pizza...they skimp on their signature ingredient. Up until tonight, Aurelios has always been my go-to for pizza, but something has changed. Yes, it's on the pricey side for pizza ($36.00 plus tip) for a large, one topping pizza, but I was always willing to pay it because I enjoyed the pizza. Tonight will be the last night I order from there. To me, the sauce has always been the highlight of that pizza, a little sweet, but so very good. When we received our pizza tonight it was just plain bland. Either they skimped on the sauce or changed the recipe completely. We could barely taste it. Not to mention, the topping itself was sparse. The whole pizza just tasted like cheese on a crust. I don't mind paying these exorbitant prices for an occasional pizza if it's good, but when they sell this crap on a cracker for the same price they always have, I'm done. Sorry Aurelios, but you've lost a loyal customer. Trying to cut corners by cutting down on ingredients, yet charging the same price, is beyond the pale. Buh bye now. read more

Service was good. The garlic bread didn't taste like garlic at all, just buttered nicely toasted bread. Wife got thin pizza that was just blah. Haven't eaten here in a while. But overall great food. Being a super nice day out we sat outside on the patio. There was live music and a great atmosphere. The patio is pretty dope. Lots of plants, flowers, trees and everything feels somewhat private even with it being so busy surrounding the place. Food was good. Had a pepperoni and mushroom pizza and some fried ravioli. The pizza was just so so for us. The crust was a little to thick and hard for our liking. We ordered cheese and sausage and overall there was a decent amount of sausage and the sauce was on the sweeter side. The service was great but they could use some new tablecloths because ours was on the worn side. Overall, I would not likely return based on the cost and the extremely hard thick crust. This was supposed to be their traditional thin crust pizza and I feel it was possibly old crust or dough because of the texture being so brittle. I have been to other locations and have never ever had a crust like this served to us. In addition, our antipastsalad for two cost $9.50 and had very little to offer in terms of cheese and meat. It was mostly prepackaged lettuce, red cabbage and carrot match sticks which I felt was greatly over priced. This location did not live up to the other locations that we have been to. We had a lovely time at Aurelio's with a very large group a couple of weeks ago. I would likely give the food a 3-3.5 star (though my husband's pizza was definitely a 4), but the service was 5 stars the night we were there. For pizza, we ate thin crust. We came into Aurelio's during the March Madness window with a very large group. They were prepared for us, and were incredibly accommodating. Our server was excellent- he kept everything we ordered straight, brought lots of extra plates so pizza could be shared around the table, and checked back in regularly. The restaurant was quite loud due to Basketball and Baseball happening at the same time, but it felt like an appropriate atmosphere for a bar/pizza joint to have during peak sports season. This was not my favorite pizza I have ever had, but it was quite good and I would definitely come back. read more

F@&$ this place!! My wife and I ordered the pasta dinner and a Calabrese and had it delivered. Now common sense would tell you that if someone orders pasta or any kind of f-ing meal that you will be provided with f@&$ing utensils! Low and behold we called and spoke to this idiot named Daniel the "take out manager." This fool stated that utensils are to be requested by the customer and it would be an additional cost. Who in the f@&) charges for utensils and who in the f&)@ tells the customer that they should have requested it prior to the delivery. First of all we ordered f@&ing pasta I didn't know that I was supposed to eat the damn food with my hands. Change your so called "policy" as per your "take out manger" Daniel or don't have a delivery service if you can't provide the damn utensils. At 6pm Saturday night it is a busy time in downtown Geneva for dinner, but I cannot understand why the hostess station informs people of a 20-30 min wait when that is far from accurate. 1hr+ with 8 open tables in the rear dining room. When asked why they are not being used, we were informed they do not have the staff to handle them. Fall down for usually a great place. We then decide to order take out and when picking up our order they advise us that someone took our salad. No big deal, but it reeks of mismanagement. read more

We normally go to Giordano's for deep dish when in town but decided to give this joint a try instead. On the plus side, the beer offerings are very extensive, with around 10 on tap. On the down side, the waiter did not know much about each beer, and there was no qualitative description of the beers on the table (e.g., where from, IBUs, etc.). With respect to the pizza, the deep dish is different from others in Chicago, but still good. It is served on a grate-like plate that allows melting cheese to drip below. I'm not really sure what the point of that is, but it looks interesting. Unlike Giordano's, they do not serve the pizza on pizza stands, so the table gets a little more crowded. Nor do they cut the first slice for you like at G's. The house salad was pretty good (the blue cheese dressing was not) and the meatball sub was very tasty. If it were just the food, I would give a 4- or 5-star rating, but the service was simply very slow. Everyone was friendly, but they were not on the ball. It took at least 10 minutes even to get acknowledged. It took probably 15 more minutes just to see our beers. The place was clearly understaffed and the staff that they did have did not seem to be especially knowledgeable or experienced. On that front, Giordano's wins hands down. read more

Have been to Aurelio's multiple times and I figured it was time to leave a review. Aurelio's is the best pizza in town in my opinion. The service is always pretty good too. Aurelio's has a unique taste to it different than any other pizza because the sauce is different. This is what separates it from everyone else and makes it better than the others. It's nice to eat there because they have some good appetizers like the wings or the salad, but takeout or delivery are good options too. Aurelio's is a great place for families or really anyone to come and eat. I 100% recommend this place to any pizza lover. read more

I would not recommend this location, my GF and I went here Saturday night and got sick from their food. We each had different pizzas so no shared food and we spent all of mother's day and the following Monday on the toilet puking. Quality was not as good as other locations and service was just ok. This time, during a festival, I had two girls who needed to use their washroom, ages 9 and 5. I was going to give Aurelio's three stars, but then I saw that the description of a three star review meant A-OK. My experience was not "A-OK" in the slightest. My boyfriend and I came here on a Saturday night around 7 o'clock looking for dinner (Stockholms was our first choice, but was busy as could be). Aurelio's was busy, but not so busy that we had to wait to be seated (there were a few larger groups here for dinner). However, we did have about a 7-8 minute wait to even get a waiter over to our table. Okay, I get it. You're busy tonight. I can deal with a small wait, but at least acknowledge that you know we're there. We order our drinks and put in our food order when he comes back with the drinks. We ordered the Bosco sticks (delicious) to start off with and a pizza (pretty good, but quite greasy), and my boyfriend ordered a soup. I can't tell you how he liked his soup because we never got it (they're lucky they didn't charge us for it). Our waiter passed by our table a few times before we got our appetizer and never once did he bring me out a refill for my lemonade that was practically hanging off the edge of the table by the time we actually got our Bosco sticks. Eventually he brings me a refill and the pizza. All was well until he told us he'd bring us some extra napkins. I think to myself, "Sweet! I love having extra napkins!" ...He never brings us the napkins. Ugh. Don't tell me you're going to bring me napkins and not do it. Napkin tease. Overall, the pizza was good and worth ordering again (despite being greasy), but I don't think we'll be back in to sit down and eat. read more

This was my first visit to Aurelio's last night - I met my family up there for a birthday gathering at about 4:30 pm and the weather outside was slight drizzle. This could be pure coincidence, but - from the time we entered and for the entire HOUR we here and until we walked out the doors, we were literally the only family in here! I guess this could be good or bad. I see many reviews below where other writers have complained about bad service due to very busy times or large crowds - for us last night, we were the only family in there. I even got up a few times to walk around, to the restrooms and past the bar - nobody but us and the employees. Now don't get me wrong - not saying I wanted crowds and crowds of loud people and having to wait at the door 20 minutes to be seated and have our food take an hour. BUT - I don't know - there is also something about sitting all alone in a large restaurant or being the 'only group'. It's a weird feeling, and I guess I kinda wanted a setting where there were at least some other people around and there was some atmosphere beyond us. This was probably a first for me - just kinda felt like I was sitting with my family at our own kitchen table. It was between 4:30 and 5:30 pm, so this was the heart of rush hour. Not one other person came in. Again, I understand it could have just been the luck of the draw. - Restaurant itself was large, but kinda plain. Not very ambient, in my opinion. Though I understand it is a pizza house. - We ordered a pizza and some other side dishes. I had a side of pizza bread which I would describe as "excellent". The pizza was very good, too. - However - prices seemed a bit high. Our medium pizza (albeit very good) was over $20.00. That's high in my opinion. - One of my family members had an average-sized salad for over $11.00. VERY HIGH. - Drinks are Pepsi products. Not too fond of Pepsi products, but I will drink them on occasion. We also noticed the sodas were $2.50 a piece and the regular iced teas were $2.25 a piece. In my opinion, $2.50 for a regular soda is a bit high also, not to mention usually iced teas and sodas are all equally priced. - Service was decent. Again though, were were also the only people in there. I noticed some of the bus-boys were too helpful - as if they had nothing else to do and were simply looking to keep busy. We heard them joking loudly in another area of the restaurant. - Country music playing on the sound system. This wouldn't have probably been a big deal again if there were other people or groups around helping drown out the background music. I don't like country music though and perhaps I am nit-picking, but can only tolerate about 2 songs of that. The food was good, but pricey. Our total bill of near $60.00 was in the realm of what we would have paid at say Red Lobster. I may try again, but it probably isn't a place that is on my top 5 or even top 10 of wanting to go back to. My brother and other people had seemingly exaggerated rave reviews about this place - I didn't feel the same after our visit last night. I may try again though. read more

Stopped in to grab a drink and food on a Saturday before typical dinner time, sat at the bar for 10 minutes before I was acknowledged as patron. Then another 10 minute wait before I decided to leave. I wouldn't have minded it, it's just the 3 tables of regulars & 2 bar patrons all had drinks or food orders that we're all on their tables. Don't waste your time or money. Go somewhere that appreciates potentially new customers, and people that will order multiple pizzas to take home to out of towners. read more

I'm glad to report that Aurelio's is still serving excellent pizza after all these years, and many franchise restaurants later. I normally do not like franchise restaurants, especially in the world of pizza, but Aurelio's has stayed very true to the original pizza recipe that made them famous. Aurelio's tomato sauce is the ONLY sweet tomato sauce that I like- anywhere. Other pizza places with overly sweet sauces I will not even consider based on past experiences ( i.e. D'Agostino's thin crust, Palermo's thin crust, and especially Pequod's pan pizza- all of these sweet sauce places are horrible ). Aurelio's sweet tomato sauce is very good because it's just sweet enough, without going totally overboard with the sugar like the other above mentioned places. Aurelio's sausage still has plenty of fennel, and was even crispy on top, which added for a nice crunch on top of the sausage. Delicious. The crust is a little thick for a thin crust pizza, but it was still good. And whatever combonation of cheeses Aurelio's is using, it's excellent. The yellow cheese (whatever it is) was the first thing I noticed on the pizza. It's combined with the traditional mozz., and it gave another interesting cheese flavor to the already good mozz. The Geneva location of Aurelio's is every bit as good as the original Homewood location, and the service was excellent on all fronts. We ate there after Geneva's annual Christmas Walk, and the place was packed. We had to wait to be seated, but the wait was worth it. The server was very family friendly, and made sure our drinks (and anything else we needed) were filled. This was a very good experience all the way around. read more
