Stopped in after a day at the Nordic Spa while we waited for the shuttle to take us back to town. The ambiance is nice with the fire places and it looks like they have made some updates with couches and areas to hangout with groups of friends. The drinks and food are decent bar food. Staff is super friendly and does a great job, though they are a bit understaffed.

Aurora is a bit pricey, but the food and service were great. We had a large party, but they wouldn't seat us until everyone was there, so we ended up splitting into three smaller groups, which worked well. Our table split the calamari appetizer, a Caesar salad, and a cheese pizza. The food was delivered piping hot and very quickly. They had a great wine selection, so we also decided to split a bottle of red. The dessert looked delicious, but we were too full from dinner to get to try it. There is a bar with plenty of seating right next to the restaurant, too, with a wide variety of beers, wine, and liquor for after dinner drinks.

12/24/18 This is a relatively nice sit-down restaurant at the Alyeska Resort. I love that they have plenty of windows, and from our seat we had a great almost-180deg view of the beauty of Alaskan Winter Wonderland... so far, the most beautiful white place I've been to. I know it's not really bucket-list material, but trust me, Alaska in winter really should be. And tomorrow's Christmas, today's fun day! But we gotta eat... 1. 7668 Matua Rose of Pinot Noir, New Zealand 2017 Glass $8 2. VanderGhinste Oud Bruin Sour Ale, Belgium $9: Very good. Not super sour (although I like both style and everything in between.) Taste sweet cranberries and a subdued ale taste. Pours super dark. 9/10 3. Halibut Melt $15 "halibut salad with capers, sundried tomato, basil, lemon aioli, provolone, arugula on ciabatta": Well, this one was super strange to me although my gf liked it. Weirdo. The fish is really more fish salad (description says "halibut salad" so DUH, but they meant it literally!) with no mayo. Ultra dry. Jane says she liked the flavor but to me it wasn't really edible. 3/10 4. RR Ranch American Kobe Burger $16 "half-pound patty, lettuce, tomato, onion on a pretzel bun" ...Add Mushrooms $2 .. ...Add Provolone $1 = $19 "Kobe" burger. Well, I guess it ain't a bad price, especially being at a ski resort right? Might even say cheap... might. So, I asked for medium and got close to well done, or maybe medium-well. But it was still relatively juicy. The bun was nicely done as a pretzel bun. I don't like many pretzel buns because they tend to be too bready, or just too.... pretzelly. But this one stayed mostly out of the way. Thank you Sir Pretzel Bun. Otherwise a standard burger. Fries were very well cooked and crispy. 6/10 So, avoid the fish "salad" sandwich. I was happy to see a great sour on the menu, but fyi, don't read that and conclude they have an extensive list, cause... they don't. Maybe half a dozen good beers. Then a dozen or so utter crap--you know what I'm referring to. That piss stuff. But for a resort restaurant, it's not bad. 3/5 #alyeskaresort #skiresort #resortfood #alaska #girdwood #alaska2018 #anchorage #christmaseve #americanfood #americancuisine

I've had a couple meals here while staying at Alyeska Resort. The pizza we had was pretty good, crust cooked just right, fresh toppings and proportional. Delicious! The burger I had was a frozen patty, the toppings not as fresh and the whole thing was sort of soggy from oil. Couldn't tell if the oil was from the beef or the thick provolone but it ruined the burger. I pulled the meat off to try it alone and it was bland. The pizza was good but the burger missed the mark completely. I expect more of a restaurant at a resort such as this. They need to do some work and this could be a 5 star joint.

Nestled in Alyeska resort, this is one of the restaurants in the resort. The ambience is very comfy and there's two sections depending on your preference: a comfy "living room" style area and a table, bar setting. The menu has only a few choices. There's only 4 entrées for example. They are very good and flavorful. You can complete your dining experience with different other things like salads, soups and desserts. All have a nice little Alaskan touch that is different of the usual. The burger is excellent with a big patty and a tomato jelly. The curry seafood soup was spicy and flavorful.

Gorgeous view from the bar window.

I actually quite enjoyed the food here, and the waitstaff is stellar. They really make sure you're enjoying the meal without making you feel incompetent for asking any questions about the cuisine on the menu. We dined here on our first night in Girdwood, and were not disappointed by any of the menu options. The chef's special appetizer, a halibut ravioli in pesto sauce, was really fantastic (although came with a pretty price point as well). The clam linguine I ordered with garlic butter sauce came in and was devoured within minutes. I resorted to sopping up the brine with the toasted focaccia bread served alongside the meal (which was one of my better decisions in life, mind you). Since then, I've enjoyed some lunches at Aurora as well. Servers have always been efficient without rushing you. Perfectly polite and hospitable. I ordered the Greek pizza which, as others have been quick to note, came with some great chew to crisp balance on the crust. Toppings for me were pretty decent, as they peppered the top with Kalamata olives, feta cheese, sliced beefsteak tomatoes, and artichoke. Some tzatziki sauce with lamb would have been amazing, but I digress. My last order did happen to contain both those elements - the lamb kofta. Yes, it is as delicious as it sounds, meat-eaters. Served on a warm, fluffy pita, the seasoned lamb sausage comes served with tzatziki, cucumber, tomato, and a bit of lettuce. AND crispy fries. Did I mention they provide Sriracha upon request? One of my better meal choices in Girdwood. If you happen to be in the resort for a couple of days, worry not on the flavor side. Perhaps be a bit concerned about your wallet though...

The bf & I usually swing by to relax at the bar, and enjoy a cold pint of Twister Creek IPA. It's cozy in there, elegant but easygoing, and I've noticed that the service is friendly but non-intrusive...my favorite. Today we came for lunch and ordered an 18" pizza (also comes in 12") with chicken, BBQ sauce, smoked Gouda, and red onion. Sounded interesting and did not disappoint. The combination of ingredients were delicious and I'd go as far as to say that the crust was one of the best I've ever had. We are very happy that one of our preferred places to unwind also serves such yummy food!

Very nice restaurant, we had breakfast here. It was so good. Food are cooked fresh as you order. Very tasty. Definitely recommend! Also had a view of the front of Alyeska.

DELICIOUS!! We were staying at the Alyeska resort for a night and decided to stop by for dinner. We got the buffalo wings for an appetizer and I got a side salad. The chicken Parmesan was yummy but could've have more sauce/flavor. The cheesecake was a great end to the meal! The prices were high but the portions were nice for the price! Love it!

Some nice mules you got there ... be a shame if I drank them all. The Vodka Mules at Aurora Bar and Grill in The Alyeska Resort were refreshing. The Gin Mules were even better ... the kind of mule you can ride into the never-ending night. My wife and I settled in for a nice night of drinks and food at the bar. The mules brought booze and took our burdens away followed by a simply satisfying Cheese Plate with five cheeses, fruits, and some nuts. My entree was a heaping mound of delightful Linguine Bolognese before a tempting and sinful Baked Alyeska (this resorts version of the Baked Alaska dessert) ended our meal. The only real ... and it was glaring ... negative was a cray-as-May bartender that was the bastard son of Biff Tannen and Debbie Downer. The other bartender was clearly new ... and nice. Any chance we got to order/chat with her was a bonus until sourpuss came back and barked about some disappointment with one of the servers, the working conditions, or his existence. I was ready to drink my Alaskan night away, but turns out I was more eager to get away from this guy. If you're at the Alyeska Hotel and want a memorable Moscow Mule, simple supper, and delectable dessert, check out the 2nd-floor Aurora Bar and Grill, but for a nice, relaxing night, don't sit at the bar.

Their cheese plate is awesome! Five kinds of cheese, lavash crackers, dried apricots & cranberries, candied walnuts, and a spectacular view of the mountains.

We did get the dip bread appetizer about 15 minutes after ordering which helped. Then we waited another full hour after finishing it before our food arrived. The food was inconsistent. The chow fun noodles were undercooked. More like al dente pasta which does not work for a Chinese dish. The burgers came with fries that were cold and hard. They did fix that quickly and brought fresh fries which were much better. The wagyu burger was the biggest disappointment. The meat tasted very gamey. That is not what you expect from wagyu which should be rich and buttery. I ended up trying to cover the taste with toppings just to eat it. Not enjoyable. Our child did enjoy her grass fed beef burger and had no complaints. The atmosphere is great. Live music adds a nice touch. We also liked the shop next door and the outdoor wood fire. We like this place and wanted it to be a great experience. The food and timing just missed the mark this time. Hoping they improve because the setting is really nice.

I ordered the game burger and added an additional patty. The waitress (I think her name was Zoey) acknowledged this request. My burger came out first but was missing the extra patty. Shortly thereafter, the meals for 4 people in my party were served. They had forgotten my son's cheeseburger. I let the woman who dropped off our food that I was missing a patty and my son didn't get his cheeseburger. "Well it wasn't written on the ticket,"she said. "OK. But we ordered it." I replied. "Alright. We'll get those out shortly," she stated. Shortly?!?! Everyone the table finished their entire meals before my son's cheeseburger was served and he finished his meal before my extra patty was served. My young children were getting impatient and my wife took them outside to play. At this point the first patty was cold and I was left to eat my overcooked burger by myself. My father-in-law came back inside as I was finishing up my uninspired meal and asked our server if he could get a separate bill for he and his wife. "We don't split bills for parties of 6 or more people AND there's an automatic 20% gratuity . What a racket. The food sucked, the service was worse, and our server was automatically over tipped. I'd been longing to come here based on highly rated reviews, how it looks from the exterior, with lights strung around the deck, however, we always seemed to arrive on a day when they're closed. Yesterday (a Saturday) they were actually open, so it was a toss up between here, and "the other restaurant in Hope, that also has live music, outdoor seating and a stunning view" come on, you know where I mean. We opted for this as we were pulling a trailer, and the parking lot is bigger, and we didn't wanna find a camping spot then come back to eat, or I would have literally starved. Upon entering the dining room (no-one was eating inside there) it felt much more like a bar atmosphere, which put me off a little. I'd previously assumed it was a restaurant that sold alcohol, but it seems more of a bar that sells food to me now. Anyway, we chose to eat outside. Selected a table, chose what we wanted - Captain's Basket for me, Reuben for him. I asked for Coke no ice, and server told me "oh we don't have any ice anyway" which, frankly doesn't bother me as I'm English. In England, ice does not come as default. The coke can was chilled from the fridge though. Baskets came out quite quickly. There were 2 small pieces of breaded rockfish, 1 was nicely cooked, the thinner piece was a little over. Maybe 7 or 8 battered shrimp - definitely on the bouncy, chewy side, and the batter a little greasy, as though the oil hadn't quite got up to temperature, and they'd been in there a little long. The Crab Cake was divine though, I'd have eaten a whole plate of them. It was big, round, breaded, with a sauce drizzled over the top.mi love crab cakes, and this was my favourite I've had in a long while. My tartare sauce portion cup wasn't very full, and man I absolutely love the stuff, I like fries dipped in tartare, but after I'd eaten the shrimp, there was barely a smear left. Fries were good and crispy, and you know how much I love my fries. The music was far enough away that it did not interrupt our conversation, and provided a pleasant backdrop, on a sunny evening, however there was a woman sitting on the table to the right of me, who seemed to think that everyone wanted to hear the details of her life, and talked loud enough to interrupt our meal. That is obviously not the fault of Creekbend Cafe, and does not affect my rating of them. She was just annoying and obnoxiously loud. I would come back, I'd probably try something else but on the whole it was a pleasant enough meal, in a pretty setting.

I must give credit to this Brown Bear Saloon and Hotel. Although I was just here for one evening to…read morerest my head before officially driving famed Seward Highway...it really was the ideal place to stay. Brown Bear Saloon and Hotel is a rustic and cozy wooden lodge situated right off Seward Highway. It specifically sits 25 miles south of downtown Anchorage and 100 miles north of the town of Seward. In fact, the address for Brown Bear states that it's situated in the town of Indian, Alaska. I've never heard of Indian, AK...but basically if you need a place to stay in and around Seward Highway, this Brown Bear Lodge is accommodative. What was even more terrific about staying here was that the location felt far away from the hustle and bustle of Anchorage. The hotel views look out upon the scenic Turnagain Arm waters with the snow-capped Kenai mountains standing tall in the distance. Even though Brown Bear is located right off a very busy section of Seward Highway, I genuinely felt like I was staying in the heart of nature. And btw...when I did visit and spend the night here, unfortunately there was a lot of construction going on beside the highway. So here it is, Brown Bear Saloon and Lodge...a prime spot for those getting ready to start and or continue their Seward Highway journeys. Well, one thing...when I woke up in the morning, I actually had to backtrack a little up north on Seward Highway for about 15 miles. Yeah so, I take that back, the lodge isn't really the start of Seward Highway. But I traveled back north for 15 miles to the Potter Marsh Boardwalk where I explored for a little before returning back on Seward Highway for the 115-mile trek south. Basically...this Brown Bear Lodge and Saloon was much better than grabbing some random hotel in downtown Anchorage. It had personality and charm. What was surprisingly amazing about my stay was the price! Throughout my 3-week voyage around Alaska, Brown Bear had the cheapest rate by far! It was $67 (with taxes and fees included) for a room I had on the 2nd floor just above the restaurant. I mean, $67...can it get any cheaper for a place to stay right along iconic Seward Highway at the start of summer travel season? Lol, I don't think so. Although my room would be standard for most tourists...for me it really stood out with a lot of great amenities. It had a walk-in glass door shower (not just a tub with a curtain), very comfortable towels to dry off afterwards. And here me...I don't think I'd ever recall thinking about towels making a difference during my stay, but they really were fluffy and comfortable. Lol, maybe they were brand new? The room also had a mini-fridge, microwave, coffee pot, good sink area and a giant mirror with good lighting. Btw...I checked-in, inside the restaurant. Then I was given a key and shown the stairway to the 2nd floor. Too bad I had already eaten in Anchorage prior to arriving here because the restaurant looked very interesting...like a casual blue-collar spot to grab a good old-fashioned burger and fries...or simply just your typical all-American type of fair. Point is...the restaurant appeared accommodating for those spending the night as you can just have a hearty meal and then return to your room. Some extras about the restaurant...it resembled a bar/pub with a colorfully fun atmosphere. They had high top tables and chairs...a huge selections of beers on-tap. I believe I saw a billiards table to play and plenty of televisions to watch sports. I'd recommend eating here if you didn't catch a bite back in Anchorage. Overall, I'm happy I discovered Brown Bear Saloon and Hotel. I found it on Priceline. I couldn't have asked for a better one-night stay after all the traveling I had done prior to arriving here. This place is definitely emblematic of your off the beaten path motel/lodge sitting right in the cross section for traveling to all parts of southern Alaska.
