    Lobster bisque

We decided to try this out while staying at Hotel Aleyska! So glad we did. Go up early for a drink at the bar. Smoked manhattan or try numerous other drinks they make. Angel and team were fun and made the start of our experience. We then had dinner!! Our waiter was great. We went with the prix fix and had the 7 different tastings and went for the wine pairing. The halibut and steak are wonderful and cooked to perfection. The portions are small and yet you will leave full- but not stuffed. Suggest each getting a different dessert to try both. The rest is all standard. Scallop to start is a quarter of a scallop. The salad pairs well with the wine and the lobster bisque --flavorful!! The ravioli is also full of flavor. Your tastebuds will be happy.

This should be a five-star review. The food? Outstanding. Wife and I shared one standard and one vegetarian tasting menu and everything was delicious. Favorites were the carrot schnitzel and the steak, but the soups and salad courses were excellent and the desserts - I'm still thinking about the milk and honey days later. Amazing! The service? Top notch. Our server Jo struck the perfect balance between making recommendations and friendly chat with leaving us to enjoy a night out together. The location? Breathtaking. Perched on the side of a mountain 2.500 feet up, our window seat afforded spectacular view of Girdwood and the surrounding valley, glorious mountains, and Alyeska property. Ever changing cloud cover and light drizzle make for an exceptional nature show in between bites of delicious food. So yes, should be a five star review but...the one small but significant blip? It was our anniversary and we had planned to order The Macallan 25 as a special treat/nightcap, and after confirming they had it earlier in the meal, Jo had to inform us later that they were out. Jo brought us a third dessert, one that I had mentioned I was deciding on earlier when I ordered, which seemed like a "make up" offer. Again, impeccable service and attention from server Jo - but I left feeling a little shorted. Overall it's a very small thing and maybe deserves a second thought later? But for now it turned what was an amazing meal into "remember that amazing meal, and then they didn't have the Macallan 25?" which is why I can only award four stars. Would I go again? Absolutely yes.

Amazing culinary and scenery experience! The tram ride up was so fun and the views! Wow! Our server and service in general were very attentive. We had the basic wine wine pairing and it was so worth it! Each course was packed with flavor. The lobster bisque was packed with flavor and the filet was melt in your mouth tender and the halibut was so fresh and delicate. Go early to take all the pics outside! The experience was well worth the price for the pre fixe muticourse meal.

First, the atmosphere was wonderful! We enjoyed the tram ride and the restaurant was lovely without feeling stuffy. The food and service was amazing! We especially enjoyed the lobster bisque (their specialty) and the halibut was perfection! The wine pairings made the entire meal even better. A memorable meal. Enjoy!

At the top of the air tram, it has the most magnificent views, friendly service, and relaxed yet sophisticated atmosphere. A must when you're staying in the area. The food is perfectly plated and delicious.

One star for the tram ride, the highlight of our visit. The ambiance was disappointing with harsh lighting obstructing window views and binder clips holding up curtains. The food was inedible: tasteless amuse-bouche, soggy salad, overcooked halibut, and short ribs resembling pot roast. The desserts were so contrived. It ruined my birthday dinner, forcing me to dine again at Captain Cook. Nearly $400 wasted.

It was our 8 year anniversary dinner and I couldn't have asked for more. The 6/7 course meal was exquisite and the service was very professional. The location was insane, very nice views. Highly recommended!!

Decided to indulge and book a reservation at Seven Glaciers during our stay at the Alyeska resort. It was a four course, fixed price ($125) menu. Tram ride is included with a reservation. I booked a reservation well in advance, but once the day came they were calling me saying they had earlier reservations if I wanted to come sooner than 7:45pm and there were tons of open tables. We were seated at a table for two right along the window with great views of the ocean, mountains, and the resort. Service was a tad slow to start, but our food came out fairly quickly and courses were spread out well. I asked if they had bread, and we were brought a sourdough loaf with olives, oil and vinegar (not complimentary $10). Cocktails were good, but not too strong. I ordered a crudo first course, short rib with raviolli second course, salmon third course, and blackberry chocolate cake for fourth course. They also give out a piece of dark chocolate with sea salt with the bill. Husband got the beef tartare (very rich), scallop bisque, and berry tart and enjoyed it all. Everything was delicious. Portion sizes were decent. I'm sure this is the most upscale / best food restaurant in the area, as there is not much in and around Girdwood. Would recommend for a special occasion or splurge meal on vacation.

This restaurant was amazing. The staff were so friendly and the service was on point. The views were amazing and the food was really good. The scallop bisque I could eat all day and night. OMG! It was soooo delicious. The drinks were okay, but the experience and the food made up for it. I would recommend this restaurant. It was breathtaking how beautiful the views were.

Disappointing across the board (except for the view). I said I was gluten free when making the reservation, and told my server as well (he did not know). I was still served gluten and caught it only after taking a bite. The food was average, the scallop was overcooked and my salad had slimy old lettuce. The martini I ordered tasted like they added water. The bisque was over salted and the steak had little flavor. The halibut was good, however. My glass of wine was not a full pour. Although I heard other waiters explaining the dishes as they were brought out, that did not happen with me (except for the dessert, which was brought out by someone new). My server was inattentive the entire evening. Several guests as well as myself had to ask for blinds (held up by binder clips) to be lowered because the sun was blinding us. Not the experience I expect from a location with a pre-fixe menu toting a fine dining experience. Don't waste your money.

A must do if you're in the Anchorage area, but make reservations or else you're not getting in. We went here on a Friday night. We originally had a reservation for the night before, but they called me Wednesday (one day before the reservation) to soft cancel. I say "soft" because they warned of a high wind advisory, rendering the tram inoperable. I received a formal cancelation via email the following day (the day of the reservation) and the next earliest time I could get was the following evening at 8:30. But, since the place is called Seven Glaciers, we wanted to see the glaciers, which would not have been possible at that hour in the month of February. So, we got our tram tickets (free with the reservation) and rode the tram up at 5:00 as soon as the restaurant opened, hoping they would seat us earlier. To be clear, I tried calling several times on Friday to see if we could get in earlier, but they don't answer the phone. In fact, that is the main reason I am at 4 stars. When we arrived at the hostess station after enjoying insane scenery on the way up, they accommodated an earlier seating, but not without some hesitation. We went to the bar while we waited and were seated at a table with an epic view right after we ordered drinks. Our server went over the four course pre-fixe menu. We opted to mix things up so we could try a little bit of everything. We started with the scallop bisque, which was just beautiful. We split the hot rock salmon and the crab cake for the second course and shared the filet mignon and the rack of lamb for the third course. The filet had great flavor, but I cannot say the same for the lamb. The affogato (espresso, chocolate, biscotti, Irish cream fudge sauce and milk jam gelato) was amazing. The lemon blackberry cake was worth skipping. Overall, this is probably the nicest restaurant I have been to in the entire state of Alaska. The dining room was elegant. The service was professional and the food was well worth the money for only $80/person. They didn't advertise a wine pairing, but they provided it upon request and absolutely nailed it.

I brought family visiting from out of town to Seven Glaciers after spending time at Bore Tide and enjoying the views. We sat at the bar since we did not have reservations. The drinks were good, the service was a little slow in the beginning but overall good. The bar and restaurant itself was very nice, clean and inviting. The price of drinks is pretty fair for Alaska but on the pricier side at $15-20 a cocktail. I wish they had more gluten free food options- I would have definitely ordered something to eat if that were the case!

Yelp updated hours say they are open Sunday and Monday, but in the website they say they are closed. We are hoping to get a reservation for dinner before we leave Alaska, is it still possible?

    Is it open this Wednesday?

    They are open Thursday-Saturdays 5-10pm

Is there a dress code? If not, what type of dress is appropriate?

Don't think there is one but you wouldn't want to show up for dinner in anything less than business casual.

We did get the dip bread appetizer about 15 minutes after ordering which helped. Then we waited another full hour after finishing it before our food arrived. The food was inconsistent. The chow fun noodles were undercooked. More like al dente pasta which does not work for a Chinese dish. The burgers came with fries that were cold and hard. They did fix that quickly and brought fresh fries which were much better. The wagyu burger was the biggest disappointment. The meat tasted very gamey. That is not what you expect from wagyu which should be rich and buttery. I ended up trying to cover the taste with toppings just to eat it. Not enjoyable. Our child did enjoy her grass fed beef burger and had no complaints. The atmosphere is great. Live music adds a nice touch. We also liked the shop next door and the outdoor wood fire. We like this place and wanted it to be a great experience. The food and timing just missed the mark this time. Hoping they improve because the setting is really nice.

However, removing the food aspect from the equation, the service was a bit off putting. From a simple glance around the room, there was a CLEAR difference how our table was treated in contrast to other tables from the way we were spoken to, checked on, and assisted, and I am sad to say it was not in a good way. I hope that this is a one time thing where the woman who assisted us was having a bad day, but with her showing kindness to other tables, but appearing as if we were a drag to assist throughout the whole meal, it's quite a disheartening feeling. I may try out this place again (maybe not for breakfast) but at the time being, this place is not somewhere I'd recommend.

I'd been longing to come here based on highly rated reviews, how it looks from the exterior, with lights strung around the deck, however, we always seemed to arrive on a day when they're closed. Yesterday (a Saturday) they were actually open, so it was a toss up between here, and "the other restaurant in Hope, that also has live music, outdoor seating and a stunning view" come on, you know where I mean. We opted for this as we were pulling a trailer, and the parking lot is bigger, and we didn't wanna find a camping spot then come back to eat, or I would have literally starved. Upon entering the dining room (no-one was eating inside there) it felt much more like a bar atmosphere, which put me off a little. I'd previously assumed it was a restaurant that sold alcohol, but it seems more of a bar that sells food to me now. Anyway, we chose to eat outside. Selected a table, chose what we wanted - Captain's Basket for me, Reuben for him. I asked for Coke no ice, and server told me "oh we don't have any ice anyway" which, frankly doesn't bother me as I'm English. In England, ice does not come as default. The coke can was chilled from the fridge though. Baskets came out quite quickly. There were 2 small pieces of breaded rockfish, 1 was nicely cooked, the thinner piece was a little over. Maybe 7 or 8 battered shrimp - definitely on the bouncy, chewy side, and the batter a little greasy, as though the oil hadn't quite got up to temperature, and they'd been in there a little long. The Crab Cake was divine though, I'd have eaten a whole plate of them. It was big, round, breaded, with a sauce drizzled over the top.mi love crab cakes, and this was my favourite I've had in a long while. My tartare sauce portion cup wasn't very full, and man I absolutely love the stuff, I like fries dipped in tartare, but after I'd eaten the shrimp, there was barely a smear left. Fries were good and crispy, and you know how much I love my fries. The music was far enough away that it did not interrupt our conversation, and provided a pleasant backdrop, on a sunny evening, however there was a woman sitting on the table to the right of me, who seemed to think that everyone wanted to hear the details of her life, and talked loud enough to interrupt our meal. That is obviously not the fault of Creekbend Cafe, and does not affect my rating of them. She was just annoying and obnoxiously loud. I would come back, I'd probably try something else but on the whole it was a pleasant enough meal, in a pretty setting.

I must give credit to this Brown Bear Saloon and Hotel. Although I was just here for one evening to…read morerest my head before officially driving famed Seward Highway...it really was the ideal place to stay. Brown Bear Saloon and Hotel is a rustic and cozy wooden lodge situated right off Seward Highway. It specifically sits 25 miles south of downtown Anchorage and 100 miles north of the town of Seward. In fact, the address for Brown Bear states that it's situated in the town of Indian, Alaska. I've never heard of Indian, AK...but basically if you need a place to stay in and around Seward Highway, this Brown Bear Lodge is accommodative. What was even more terrific about staying here was that the location felt far away from the hustle and bustle of Anchorage. The hotel views look out upon the scenic Turnagain Arm waters with the snow-capped Kenai mountains standing tall in the distance. Even though Brown Bear is located right off a very busy section of Seward Highway, I genuinely felt like I was staying in the heart of nature. And btw...when I did visit and spend the night here, unfortunately there was a lot of construction going on beside the highway. So here it is, Brown Bear Saloon and Lodge...a prime spot for those getting ready to start and or continue their Seward Highway journeys. Well, one thing...when I woke up in the morning, I actually had to backtrack a little up north on Seward Highway for about 15 miles. Yeah so, I take that back, the lodge isn't really the start of Seward Highway. But I traveled back north for 15 miles to the Potter Marsh Boardwalk where I explored for a little before returning back on Seward Highway for the 115-mile trek south. Basically...this Brown Bear Lodge and Saloon was much better than grabbing some random hotel in downtown Anchorage. It had personality and charm. What was surprisingly amazing about my stay was the price! Throughout my 3-week voyage around Alaska, Brown Bear had the cheapest rate by far! It was $67 (with taxes and fees included) for a room I had on the 2nd floor just above the restaurant. I mean, $67...can it get any cheaper for a place to stay right along iconic Seward Highway at the start of summer travel season? Lol, I don't think so. Although my room would be standard for most tourists...for me it really stood out with a lot of great amenities. It had a walk-in glass door shower (not just a tub with a curtain), very comfortable towels to dry off afterwards. And here me...I don't think I'd ever recall thinking about towels making a difference during my stay, but they really were fluffy and comfortable. Lol, maybe they were brand new? The room also had a mini-fridge, microwave, coffee pot, good sink area and a giant mirror with good lighting. Btw...I checked-in, inside the restaurant. Then I was given a key and shown the stairway to the 2nd floor. Too bad I had already eaten in Anchorage prior to arriving here because the restaurant looked very interesting...like a casual blue-collar spot to grab a good old-fashioned burger and fries...or simply just your typical all-American type of fair. Point is...the restaurant appeared accommodating for those spending the night as you can just have a hearty meal and then return to your room. Some extras about the restaurant...it resembled a bar/pub with a colorfully fun atmosphere. They had high top tables and chairs...a huge selections of beers on-tap. I believe I saw a billiards table to play and plenty of televisions to watch sports. I'd recommend eating here if you didn't catch a bite back in Anchorage. Overall, I'm happy I discovered Brown Bear Saloon and Hotel. I found it on Priceline. I couldn't have asked for a better one-night stay after all the traveling I had done prior to arriving here. This place is definitely emblematic of your off the beaten path motel/lodge sitting right in the cross section for traveling to all parts of southern Alaska.

Well we stopped by after being told the burgers were a hit. To my surprise my double cheeseburger…read moreshowed up completely burned to char absolute death. The worst burger I have had in years. Maybe this was a one off and I would happily concede that maybe just an off order but seriously giving someone a burger order so burned is ridiculous. Do better!
