    $40 for fish and chips

$40 for a small portion of fish and chips. Insanity! Definitely do not recommend. This felt like a total rip off.

The halibut fish and chips were tasty and a meal for 2. And the view, priceless!

Good was served hot and tasty, quantity large and the beer was cold from the can. Service was self order and then food was delivered to the table. Not too a huge amount of seating, especially outside. But we did find a picnic table on the covered patio. A busy little restaurant.

If you are going to get halibut fish and chips in Whittier this is the place to go. We all ordered fish and chips at the counter and took a seat in the homie warm seating area with a relaxed feel. The service was quick and about 10 minutes later of fish and chip baskets arrived. The fish was flakey, buttery, and fresh. Cooked to perfection and not fishy at all. We visited this restaurant many times of the years and it never disappoints one of the best places to order fish and chips in Alaska.

The perfect stop for a quick, cozy meal. Small, coastal cafe with friendly staff and an amazing view.

One of the best fish and chips we've had! Service was a little slow and disorganized but everyone was courteous. Crunchy in the outside and tender on the inside, our lunch was amazing. You also get a view of the snow covered mountains as you sit outside and enjoy your meal!

Bit overpriced, but the food is good. Especially the cheesecake. If you are on the glacier discovery train, call them at portage and they will have your food ready by the time you get to Whittier.

We stopped by for an early dinner and voice o boy it was really and absolutely delicious. The fella at the window and the server was spot on in their serves, and we enjoyed their company. The outside seating w/ the beautiful sunlight was amazing.... I recommend this eatery for sure

Food was good! Very casual but good! A bit of a maze but once you figure out how it works - food came out prompt!

We had the reindeer chili and bacon burger with fries and both were really good.

Absolute worst meal we had in Alaska. We had the halibut fish & chips and their halibut…read moresandwich--both were mediocre at best. Halibut breading was flavorless and the filets were a tad thin (especially since halibut tends to be on thicker side). Sandwich bun was cold, untoasted and dry. Fries were hot and decent. The most lackluster meal we ate all week. To make things worse, neither employee (there was a male and a female working) was able to help with directions. We explained that we were at the Anchor Inn and were walking over, the female said, "Look for the ice cream shop and we're right there, you'll see us." No context, no landmarks or other objects to note, but needless to say we passed them -- not as easy to see as she made it seem. Then we called and spoke to a man, he said, "Just walk to the end of the turnabout and you'll see us right there." Huh?! Whittier may be small, but we're obviously not from around here and neither of those directions made any sense -- especially for someone who is not local and does not know the area. Needless to say we finally stumbled upon them, with zero help from either of their "directions". We had 30 min to eat and catch our train, which added to the frustration of this experience...to top things off the food was barely mid, lacking in flavor and just plain boring. To the team at Swift Water: Take more pride in your food preparation. There was only 1 other couple in the place, so it wasn't like you were rushed and cut corners because of being busy (which still would be an excuse). Do better.

Delicious cup of clam chowder and warm and friendly interior on a rainy, blustery day. Nice place…read moreto sit and take the chill off, chat with travelers, and have a bite.

We went here twice on our stay in Anchorage. It's just far enough to enjoy a little of the Seward…read moreHighway but close enough that the kids aren't complaining about the drive. We sat both inside and outside, and of course you can't beat outside on a nice day. Service is attentive and patient. They try to put us and our kids far away from the other customers which I appreciate (as I'm sure the others do too). The vibe is a little nicer than casual, I think you could make this a cute date night or a quick stop on the way to Girdwood or the peninsula. They have a good selection of draft beers and their food is great. I had the Caesar both times, but also tried their salmon burger and lemon spaghetti, which I shared with the kids. My recommendation for kids is to skip the basket of fries and get tots instead. I don't care for the skin on fries as much, but the tots were perfect. They seem to have a lot of interesting, fresh specials like a halibut Reuben that I'm sure is tasty. It's a great little destination when you want to get out of the house in the summer but don't want to do the same old spots in Anchorage. Check them out, you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Had the special Halibut Enchilada, perfect portions and a new dish for me. Awesome! Spouse had the special Halibut Reuben, and was very happy with that choice. Other guest had the special Salmon Burger. Everybody loved their choices and would happily recommend as a stop before or after skiing or trip down Seward this summer.
