I don't recommend this place at all, the food is nasty, from the Caesar salad, margarita pizza, to the salmon. If your going here I would just go for drinks and the ambiance but it's a solid NO from me. Word of advice hire a better chef because I can't believe how nasty this food was. The manger even came out to ask me how the food was and I told him it wasn't good and it needed more seasoning. read more

I went for my birthday thinking a wonderful experience would be had, been to sexy steak a handful of times, but Aurora fell short in every category, the food was ok but the service was not up to par, I expected the server to be able to suggest he could not, he was a clerk not a salesperson which a good server is, but the topper when my best friend asked him to sell us dessert he read one item from a small piece of paper then dropped in front of my fiancée then walked away, terrible, I review restaurants but didn't take the time on this venue. The decor is stunning, very cool vibe! Love Aurora, finally a 10 for a community restaurant. I walk in and am immediately greeted by smiling Ahmed, the manager. He always makes sure I'm happy with the table location...FYI, no bad tables though. I Always start with the Fritto Misto and the meatball apps which are amazing. Entrees, I've tried Almost everything as I usually go 2xs/week. Pasta carbone or strozzapreti amazing, Dover sole is a big portion, usually share & branzino both delicious. My family and I decided to give this spot a try. It was a poor experience. The staff is not well trained at all. The decor is kind of tacky, the music is club like music and the open floor plan provides for an even louder experience. Calamari was salty, flat bread was ok, carpaccio was the only thing we really enjoyed. We waited a good 10 minutes before we were even greeted and received water which I had to ask for. They forgot my son's pizza after they brought everyone's entree. The table side Caesar is made using pre made components like mayo and a little cup with concentrated Caesar dressing pre made that they mix with the mayo. This should all be done table side by actually using egg yolk, emulsify with olive oil, garlic, anchovies all crushed with two forks, this would be proper, not this joke of a Caesar salad they tossed up that wasn't even good! Veal entree was tender but the sauce was flavorless and acid heavy. My father got chicken when he ordered veal. The carbone pasta tasted like spaghettiOs, wasn't anything close to carbone. This place 100% will not make it long run, that's my opinion. My family and I would personally never come back. It was a curiosity. I love trying new places and this is my second new restaurant in almost as many weeks. The space is large, well decorated and has a good vibe. Love the decor. If you want a quiet, intimate dinner this is not the place. It's noisy, due to the glass and marble which doesn't absorb sound. They were also playing music (60s and 70s) that didn't match the theme. The best part is the table-side chef Guiseppe P! We ordered and shared a Caesar salad. We also modified it to our own unique specifications. It was delicious. Fresh. Well-prepared and flavorful. The Basilica cocktail was very good. The service was excellent. We had Lauren. My guest had the lobster linguine with a red sauce and enjoyed it. I ordered the Dover sole which was de-boned table-side. It came with Swiss chard. Which was mouthwatering good. The sole was prepared pan fried. It was crispy, light and slightly bland for my taste. It comes with a butter sauce. I preferred the Brussel sprouts in case the chard wasn't good. The sprouts were not impressive; bland and flashed but not cooked enough for me. Would I go back? Yes. They've only been open 5 weeks. They were packed too so this is just my 2¢. read more

If you want authentic fine Italian food, this is not the place. I was told the pasta was house made and I meant the noodles too when I asked, but they tasted like they were dried from a box and they didn't have enough salt or chewiness. The bolognese sauce was not bad, but not as bold and rich as I would expect from an authentic bolognese. My husband had the veal, which was good, not great. I would not come here again. We have another go-to Italian fine dining restaurant in Farmington, but wanted to try this out. The service was very rushed. The main entree came while we were still having a cocktail and appetizer. I had to wait a while to get my wine while my dish was getting cold. The house super Tuscan wine was actually the best part of the meal. When I asked for freshly ground black pepper, I was brought a small pepper shaker. My husband asked again and the server did finally bring a fresh pepper grinder. The server brought us the dessert menu while we were still barely starting on our entree. He also came back not too long after and asked if I was finished with my meal when I barely touched it. I was irritated and just said ok so we could get out of there. This place did not meet my expectations at all. They placed more emphasis on the decor and vibe, rather than creating fine and authentic Italian dishes. While I agree with the previous review on the design of the restaurant and the food, we experienced a few missteps as can be expected early on. It took 3 people searching for the bottle of wine we ordered and more than 25 minutes, but we enjoyed the bread and oil and laughed while we waited. The table side Caesars were great although they were prepared behind us which was odd and kind of defeated the point of table side preparation. The palomino sauce on the rigatoni was spectacular!! The pizza was perfect. The service was spot on after the wine was found. I disagree with the original reviewer with regards to the tiramisu. We did not have it prepared table side, despite that it was offered that way. It came to the table in a gorgeous copper pan with lovely pink chocolate decorations, but the dessert itself was really just a bowl of marscapone with a few crunchy lady fingers in it as they had only been partially soaked. The server was apologetic, but I would not order it again. Overall, many more hits than misses. Misses all easily fixable and definitely will return. read more

A visually beautiful restaurant with good service. A bit loud because of the acoustics. Food was good (I had the veal and a Caesar salad while my wife had a salad entree.) Since I was the only one having a Caesar, it was prepared in the kitchen and brought to the table. They will make it table side if two if more people order it. Was super excited to try this place but wasn't very impressed. We arrived without a reservation but were able to get a seat at the bar on a Sunday evening. We were immediately greeted and given menus and ordered drinks to start . After our drinks came we asked the bartender what apps he suggested and he mentioned one that was on Happy Hour. I love a HH but unfortunately we didn't know about it because we weren't given the menu and thus ordered drinks that were on there. We order the clams and mushroom bruschetta off the HH menu. But they took 40 mins to come out, in fact we had to ask where they were before someone even went to check. The clams were really good but the bruschetta was a joke, literally mushrooms on toast, no sauce, no glaze, no spread, no seasoning, no flavor, very disappointing, we didn't even finish the 3 pieces. For my main I got the gnocchi which was quite good but not worth $29 for the portion and fact it didn't have any protein. Over all I wouldn't want to go back but I wouldn't discourage people to try it for themselves. read more

We tried this place because we were hearing mixed reviews of it being good and bad so we said let's try it out. My wife, my son and I went for dinner tonight. They brought the kids menu my son is 4 years old so he ordered the chicken tenders and fries. They brought him out chicken that looked like it was sitting on the counter for hours and on top of that it was pink! Thank God we caught it before he started to consume it! We sent it back and said bring him pizza instead. His food comes out and it chicken tenders and fries again smh.... Then they apologized and said the pizza was coming out you can keep the chicken and fries and box it up. We ordered 2 Ceasar salads that took over a hour to come to our table. We also ordered 2 small pasta's for entrees one with chicken and when they came out they were both larges and the one that was suppose to have chicken had sausage and they claimed the kitchen lost the ticket for our order. At the end I asked for the manager and told him that it was a shame that such a nice place was being run this way and how could he allow a chef or Managment to send out BAD OLD SITTING PINK COLOR CHICKEN OUT FOR A ORDER FOR A TODDLER ON A KIDS MENU WITHOUT LOOKING AT IT!!! I still said I wanted to pay for everything we ordered and told the waiter it wasn't his fault. OVERALL EXPERIENCE WAS 0 OUT OF 10. I HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE FOOD WISE! read more

While the atmosphere at Aurora Italiana is very nice, the food is horrible. We had a hair on our bread, the calamari were like beef jerky because they were so over done, the main course was horrible. Three of us had the special of lobster in rosotto. The lobster was okay (a bit underdone) and the rosotto was not eatable. We did not eat the rosotto and complained to the manager. He offered us a glass of wine. We do not drink. We explained that we had theater tickets and could not wait for a new meal and were not offered any compensation. We explained that we would not be back and he did not care. I would never recommend this resturant to anyone. We paid for all of our meals and 3 of us could not eat them. The food was terrible and the manager's behavior was rude and inexcusable. I went to the restroom before leaving and found other patrons who sent their food back and said it was not edible. We will not go back and expect they will not be open in a year or less. Don't waste your time and money. Bad food! read more

Outstanding food, atmosphere was full of life, and I cannot say enough about the staff and service we received. I've been to many restaurants all across the world. We all know Las Vegas has the best service when it comes to restaurants and this place is right next to them. I can't say enough about the friendly staff. I wish I could give a 3 1/2 star because there are a lot of pros and cons. The service was spot on very friendly and knowledgeable waiter, the drinks were a good pour and the bartenders are very friendly. We each ordered the Caesar salad which was prepared tableside . There was some confusion in the kitchen because while they were making the salad our entrees came out. The chicken parmesan was subpar and nothing notable about it. ( lacked flavor). The bread was amazing and the lava cake for desert was the best part of the meal. Considering the soft opening it wasn't a bad experience and I hope they add veal marsala to their menu in the future. The place is really beautiful but they have done nothing to control the noise level . The music thumping and the loud voices make talking to people at your table impossible. For me that kind of noise disrupts my enjoyment of a meal. I wasn't particularly impressed with the chicken dish I ordered either. I dined at Aurora in West Bloomfield for the first, and last time. initially. my friend and I chatted over cocktails, wait staff was excellent. After cocktails, appetizer, entree, dessert, coffee, things got really weird. A manager came to our table to ask us how things went. As conversation ensued, we soon discovered she was actually there to tell us to 'LEAVE' as they needed the table for 'newly arriving customers'! As I looked around there were plenty of tables available in this very large restaurant. It was after 9pm. WHAT IS GOING ON?? The manager pointed to the bill on our table, asked us to pay and leave. I noticed our original wait person was no where to be found. We Never Saw Our Original Wait person again! We now have an aggressive wait staff person who is doing his best to let us know we need to 'go'. Hey! I didn't finish the $15 cocktail I am paying for! I felt intimidated by the treatment we were receiving. I do not understand what happened! Drinks were very good. Our original server was wonderful. Food was spicier than most authentic Italian restaurants in Michigan, Chicago and New York. I hope you have enough clientele to keep you in business Aurora. I will not be back. read more

First time it took over three hours and one of the dinners never came. Second time, every table, but ours got their Caesar salad,, an appetizer was placed on the table that we didn't order and we had to wait 15 minutes until server came back.
