This place has the best hush puppies that I've ever tasted. They're dense and moist on the inside, with a perfectly crunchy exterior. The batter is spicy and just a little sweet. The ranch dipping sauce is delicious, but I wish they served more with an order. I also tried the bar-b-cuban. While I thought there could have been a better filling to bread ratio, the bread is soft enough that it squished down and didn't overwhelm the sandwich. The taste of the pork and the homemade pickles was fantastic, and the amount of cheese fairly generous. Overall, a delicious lunch, and I can't wait to go back again for more hush puppies. read more

Canadian Tuxedo Torta, jalapeño hush puppies and a lavender lemonade. YES PLEASE! I first heard about this place when I was at the bar next door The Wheel (which in my next review I will rave about) anywho the bar owner (I think) suggested this place to us and I kept it in mind for another time since they had closed already. Fast forward to earlier this week after a long day at the salon followed by a house call cut and color I was left exhausted and starving. ADP is literally two mins from my house so as we drove past it I yell and told my boyfriend to stop. This is when I was introduced to one of the best hot sandwiches I've ever had. Oh and the hush puppies were even better and to top it all off I washed it all down with a ice cold lavender lemonade. All I have to say it was the only thing saving me that night. The guys working were so sweet and helpful! Even when exactly two days later once again exhausted and starving I returned 7 mins before they closed begging for that delicious sandwich again they were still helpful and sweet as sweet Texas tea! Not once did they make me feel as horrible as I felt inside for making they make one last sandwich of the night. Haha (yes sadly I was that girl that night) but that sandwich brought me back to life. Sammies!! Yay! I saw a little news spot about this place the other day, so naturally I had to check it out! I meandered over there with my mom and my son yesterday after work. First of all, I love the mission. Bringing fresh food with fresh ingredients to the folks of our city. I ordered the Bar-B-Cuban, which was soo delicious! I knew going in that I am a little piggy, so I was afraid of dropping anything on the white portion of my Calvin Klein dress. Of course, I did, but I didn't even care!! It was so good, I just used it as an opportunity to tell people about my yummy sandwich when they asked me about it later! Mom ordered the Pineapple Express, which she claimed was equally as yummy. I have two suggestions for improvement. The first is that they move the trash receptacles a little farther from the eating area. There were an unpleasant number of flies in its vicinity, so I recommend taking your order to go. The second would be that they add more kid friendly options to their menu. I ordered the Canadian Tuxedo for my son, and asked them to place all of the fixins on the side, which they did happily. I also ordered some red potato fries for him...and a second order for myself. So good!! They had a little ping pong table in the back, which we played on while we waited for our food. Very smart! It made the quick wait fly by even faster. I drive by this place all the time and I never really noticed it. Tucked away in a small building behind another small building, it doesn't really catch the eye. But when you have sandwiches that taste so freaking wonderful, the building doesn't really matter. One order of jalapeno hush puppies. Perfectly cooked! Not dry, burned, or mushy. So good! I ordered the bar-b-cuban. A pulled pork sandwich with ham and cheese slapped on top. It was mmmmmm. It was raining and a bit chilly outside. We were the only ones there. Their many sandwiches are very, very tasty. They have created some very thoughtful combinations, and all the ingredients are very high quality. I would recommend checking out the special, because those babies are works of art. I also highly recommend the waffle cut chips, and the garbanzo bean side. I only wish they had umbrellas or an umbrella alternative over their eating area! Every time I've gone, there has been an unpleasant element of squinting at my beautiful sandwich because the early dinner time sun is bearing down, straight into my cornea, my sunglasses rendered useless. My order: regular jalapeno hush puppies mini falafel I was full and satisfied for lunch. The falafel was one patty, and I was expecting it to be individual falafel--not sure why. The single layer of falafel sure made it easier to eat! The brioche was fluffy and delightful, but it did end up getting kind of soggy by the time this slow eater finished. The hush puppies were somethin else! I was expecting a heavier, denser ball. These were more like savory beignets than any hush puppy I've had. The flavor was FANTASTIC. The spicy ranch was killer too. I wish I had ordered a large size, and maybe not offered to share them with my dining companion. I went almost a week ago and I've been thinking about these jalapeno hush puppies since then. There's great jalapeno flavor without being too spicy. They're a bit on the greasy side, so don't think you're eating health food. They'd be perfect with a cold beer if you're not headed back to the office after lunch.... Now I'm hungry. The space is cool, the sandwiches are meh, and the prices are kinda high. I got a bacon breakfast sandwich that had egg and cheese on it. The bacon was extremely crispy, which is definitely not my style, and the whole thing was pretty dry and could have used a sauce or more melty cheese (it was pretty solidified). The brioche bread which appears to be their speciality was flaky, but again, pretty dry and kinda bland. I also tried the Lil Pig sandwich that had pulled pork, sweet pickles, and some BBQ sauce. It was all fine, nothing special, and of course there are plenty of other places around town that have incredibly good pulled pork sandwiches. read more

So the chips were good. I also liked my falafel with feta. The hush puppies - I've had better from the frozen section at Kroger. The BLT- "how do you mess up a BLT?", you ask. Well, start by taking 30 cloves of roasted garlic and smearing them onto one side of a sandwich and putting barely any bacon on it, some decent aioli on the other side and serving it. It was terrible. My husband and daughter both ordered one. My daughter(18 y/o) had one bite and was grossed out - I tried to save it by scraping some of the ton of garlic off. Came here for dinner a couple nights ago. I moved into the neighborhood and wanted to try some spots that are walking distance to my house. I had the pineapple express. First, I was a little surprised at how expensive the sandwiches were- AND that they didn't come with chips or fries or anything- but then I actually saw the sandwich and realized it was ginormous and totally filling. Sandwich was really interesting. I love the basil? Cilantro? they included in it. I felt like every bite was filled with flavor. The people who worked there were nice enough, and the night I came it was a nice temperature out so eating at the picnic table was fun. Great find. Austin vibe of a trailer like experience next to Daily Juice. I had a Pineapple Express (chicken, ham, chutney and more) as a taco (they can make it as a salad and sandwich) and it was delicious. The sweetness was offset by the spicy sauce. It was all gone before I realized it. The girls had The Lucy, pork with Sriracha and aioli. Plenty of cilantro, which was a big hit with my wife. The Bar B Cuban was inhaled by another family member. The service was friendly and mellow. Dietary issues (no dairy) were quickly handled, and they also turned off a fan that was cooling things down a bit too much immediately once we asked. As noted in other reviews, all seating is outdoors, bathrooms are at The Wheel next door, and you may have to hunt for parking ... but ... Hanging out with my family on outdoor picnic benches, eating good food and enjoying the outdoor vibe - beautiful. read more

Really good/unqiue sandwiches in East Austin. Went here because it's close to the UT Community Garden. It is all outdoor seating, which is fine for most time of the year. I had the falafel sandwich, which came with a nice pumpkin seed romesco sauce. Falafel was also moist and flavorful. The sandwich was well-seasoned, so I was definitely pleased! I'm sure this will become one of my favorite lunch spots since it is so close to the UT campus. The Edward is a fantastic vegetarian option with unique ingredients that aren't over the top. The edamame fritters are excellent and mix well with the pickled onions. Everyone knows that a good sandwich starts with the bread, and the torta bread on the Edward is pillowy and soft, just as it should be. Ordered a side of the chips which were clearly freshly made and good, but I'm more of a seasoned chips/fries girl so those lacked for me a little. I make a 10 hour drive from Tulsa to SA a bunch with my toddler to see my parents a bunch and this kick of good food does everyone good.
