The beer was decent and I ordered my meal and a water. I ordered a NY strip steak, broccoli, and rice. While I was relaxing at the bar the conversation at the bar cracked me up. I got my meal, it looked great. The broccoli was slightly overcooked, same with the rice. The rice may have been reheated. The steak was a little tough, I shouldn't have to use a serrated knife to tear through this steak. It was a tough steak, but ok. I was hungry and I enjoyed it without any condiments. We are bourbon enthusiasts and there were a lot of options. Dinner was a seared Ahi Tuna appetizer with kelp, wasabi and avocado. Very good. Supremely pleased with my Tuesday evening dining experience. The staff was accommodating and attentive. My friend and I shared a shrimp cocktail. Very fresh and colossal in size the cocktail sauce was perfect. I had a house salad with the house dressing. Creamy Garlic lime with crumbled blue cheese, it was very tasty. The NY Strip is on special on Tuesdays so my friend added a 4 oz tail. His dish was prepared perfectly and delicious. I went with the Petite Filet and it was prepared perfectly in all its aged perfection. What a great overall experience. My Husband and I knew this year our anniversary would look a lot different than years past given the pandemic. We actually tried to get into Austin's about a month before everything started, but without a reservation we did not want to sit for the two hour wait. So we figured this was a great time to check them out. I called our order in to go and was given a reasonable time of 25 mins for two entrees and an appetizer. We arrived on time and our food was bagged up and waiting. We paid at the bar and were quickly on our way. Everyone was very courteous and the proper CDC guidelines were being observed. The food was amazing! We ordered the 12 ounce and 16 ounce Smoked Prime Rib that they offer on weekends only. Sides were Asparagus and Baked Potatoes. The appetizer which we used as a late night snack was mild wings. You could taste the authentic smoke in the prime rib. It was cooked perfectly to the temp we requested. They included all the usual condiments in a separate box. I will definitely order again and when this is all over I look forward to dining in. read more

Appetizers and drinks were good. I was a little put off by the steak that I ordered medium rare that showed up more medium well than anything. I was very put off by the inappropriate Chef who decided to come out and challenge my returning the overcooked steak which was priced at $44. The second steak was cooked very well but was not worth $44. I will give it to my waitress that she handled it very well and was extremely nice. We entered at 4:00 and of course no one was there except us and we got the royal treatment. Everyone wanted to serve us in some way. Funny? no, but i dine our 4-5 times a week and i get ice in my drinks when i asked for NO ICE. i ask for no olives or pepperoncini and guess what i get? Not here. We asked for soup, one bowl and one cup and got those exact sizes, piping hot like soup should be and the pace of entire meal was set perfectly. I forgot to say no artichokes but my companion took them. She tried the stuffed peppers which i would have thought were green bells but ended up being some other kind (hot) not specific in description (just roasted peppers), but she LOVED THEM. Usually order fish tacos which are ALWAYS TO DIE FOR but i thot i would try and Shrimp Zoodles which is shrimp over zucchini curly noodles with pesto. If they had managed to remove all the OIL IT SAT IN, i would have been thoroughly ecstatic but that one thing was kinda disgusting. But all meals and soups and drinks were served happily and repeatedly, they joked around the entire time we were there cuz they thot we were fun. Not to mention that WE TOLD THEM WE WERE FUN...... I've been going to Austin's Smoking' Steakhouse for years. It was one of my favorite places and would always take my out-of-town visiting friends there if they wanted steaks or BBQ. I visited tonight for the first time post-COVID and I won't be returning. An expensive and disappointing meal. They no longer serve side salads and rolls (I loved their sweet butter) with their meals, but have a couple of bread items as sides. The prices on the steaks went up dramatically. I ordered a NY Strip cooked medium and the steak I was served was cooked rare and loaded with gristle. I asked for a new steak. A much better looking steak but was delivered rare as well. Third time out of the kitchen was the ticket. The waitress was attentive and apologetic, but that didn't make up for the poor condition of the food as it was delivered from the kitchen. read more

I've lived in the area all of my life and I have never eaten here. It was a disappointment. My son and husband had shrimp gumbo as an appetizer. We are spoiled. My husband learned how to make gumbo in Louisiana. No comparison. My husband had the salmon. He said it must have been "dog salmon", the kind the mushers in Alaska give to their dogs. My son and I had the Austin burger. The meat was obviously one of those patties that come frozen in stacks. Not much flavor. The grilled mushrooms came out of a can. The fries, however were done perfectly but they only give you a little dish of ketchup so there was only enough for fries, not the burger. I didn't want to ask for mustard. They do give you a crisply pickle wedge which I appreciated. They are the go-to place for quite a few folks. They were each warmly greeted, the staff knew everyone's name. Great place to stop for a quick lunch. The Cobb Salad comes in two sizes. The full is to much for lunch as it was such a healthy portion. Each side in the salad was also plenty. Probably a full hard boiled egg sliced. Even the avocado which is pricey was very visible. read more

Very disappointed. We were having a pretty decent time until my father started eating his salad and found someone from the kitchens gum in his salad. The most disturbing and disgusting part is the fact he didn't see it until it was too late. After showing it to the manager, he looked at my dad like he put the gum there. First he doesn't chew gum and why would he even think to do something like that. There was an apology and offered a new salad. We declined. When the prep person realized the gum had fallen out of his mouth the entire batch of salad should have been thrown away. That is a physical contaminant!!! I decided to come here because they're local and offer a Sunday brunch. The brunch menu is small, which is fine, but it doesn't offer anything particularly exciting (a few omelets, eggs Benedict, pancakes, etc.). I had the veggie omelet, a side of grits and a pork chop. The omelets are made with egg beaters with no option for egg whites or real eggs. It was a hearty portion and fluffy, but very basic. The grits were standard cheese grits and while it could have used more seasoning, I understand it's just grits. The pork chop is about 4 oz and cooked "cajun," but wasn't very well seasoned either and borderline dry. The ambience is nice, comfortable and slightly dated. The service was average. Loraine was welcoming and knowledgeable, but was also taking care of several tables, so I needed to get up to ask for ketchup and hot sauce. I don't think I'll return to try dinner, but I'm glad to have tried out a new local place. I'll still encourage others to try their prime rib and steak, because they are local after all. read more

I cherish the memories of when my wife and I dated before we got married. We spent a lot of time in restaurants and Austin's Steakhouse was a weekly event following church for 2 years as we dated. I remember the wonderful brunch specials they had on Sunday, the portion sizes were generous and the service was amazing. The food had a custom presentation of ingredients and mostly homemade. The place was a hallmark of Mayfield Village. That was 20 years ago and what a difference 20 years make! Last week, we decided to order out from Austins. My wife had sudden taste for the pulled pork sandwich with beans. I got the Thai salad with chicken. I usually get a large order of beans as well. It's a great filler and from memory, the beans are very gourmet with chunks of pork. The boys got the hamburgers with backed apples. I got to stay on the couch watching movies with my 2 boys as the wife lost the "I buy, you fly". That means whoever says if first, the other person picks up the food. Food arrived and we all ran to the delivery girl, my wife. After handing the food to their rightful owners, we dug in! To my disappointment, the food is NOTHING like how I remember. The pulled pork sandwich was much smaller in meat height, served on a cheap Costco bun (used to be served on a huge Kaiser bun) and seemed different in taste. The beans had NO pork chunks, the salad portion size was for dieters and no longer served in a deep take out dish which means portion was MUCH smaller-the chicken was dry. The kids hamburgers were the size of McDonals in thickness. The boys complained that the baked apples were hard and not cooked. The whole thing was a $50 failure. Was curious about this place as I travel to this area quite a bit. Decided on a Wednesday night to go in and grab a bite. I was a bit surprised that a 'steakhouse' had a rundown irish bar feel to it. I asked for a wine menu and was unimpressed by the selections. I ordered the house merlot. It was not good. I also ordered the French Onion soup. That was good. The service, however, was slow. I don't think the bartender was behind the bar more than 1/3 of the time I sat there. There were only about 15 or so people in the restaurant, but, I'm warning you, that this place is uncharacteristically LOUD. I'm not sure why the acoustics are what they are, but my ears are still ringing. Then 3 'regulars' strolled in and started yapping it up. Further, they decided to play lewd videos on one of their phone's with the volume cranked up. Nice. Thanks for exhibiting sheer narcissism and complete disregard for anyone around you! One person in the party starts telling a story about his friend in Vegas and how this friend kept yelling "hey fatso". The worse part was the guy telling the story actually yelled it at the bar. Seriously, wtf!?!?!? I had planned on dinner and another glass of wine, but had to cut bait and beat feet out of there asap. Too many reasons to leave. Was excited to use a gift card given to me for my Birthday. We made a reservation, arrived on time, however; due to the horrible service of a disgruntled & obviously angry waiter, who called himself John. We did not receive our meals for over 1hour after arrival. He told us it was "our" fault for not ordering everything at his first appearance. However he barely gave us time to order everything and actually discouraged it. "Oh you want to order everything now?!!!", while barely making eye contact with us. after we ordered an appetizer, he never returned except to clear our appetizer. Never even asking if we 'd even like to place our dinner order. I had to tell him. STOP ...we'd like to order our dinner now as that's why we actually came here?!!!! I should add even my basic salad was served with the wrong dressing, no lime as asked for in my drink x3 and the wrong beer too. My boyfriend asked for the Bohdi and he said oh the Columbus , walked away and that's what we got?!! I asked for salmon he immediately ordered my sides for me, rice and broccoli. I said, NO...baked potato. I did not even know there was even another vegetable side until my boyfriend ordered and he told us there were Brussels too! The food was also quite pricey for the quality. But our server John was horrible! Spoiled our evening definitely. Completely unhappy in his job very obviously. Our wedding anniversary landed on a Tuesday, typically a slow day for restaurants, so we took a chance on not having to wait for a table. Score! We started with the black and blue scallops, seared in a skillet and topped with blue cheese. One had lost its top, but they were delicious. That was followed by the dinner salad, 12 ounce strip steak, and baked potato -- all done to perfection! My husband enjoyed the baked stuffed shrimp, bacon wrapped with crab stuffing and a side of baked apples. Also beautifully presented and delicious. We had lemonade and ended by sharing key lime pie.
