UPDATE (08/01/20): I'm not used to buying cars from used car dealerships, but I'd love to think that the dealer would disclose information important to the condition of the car, as I'm sure the dealer most certainly takes a closer inspection of the car before they purchase it. (Especially as how this auto dealer has a repair guy they work with) The inside of all 4 tires were worn down to the wire. I checked the tires upon inspection but didn't catch that on my walk around. Maybe I'm asking too much but I'd think someone would mention that before sale like I would if I was selling my car. That replacement cost $700. I checked the air conditioning when I purchased it and all was fine. However, it went out after a week or two and I've been to three mechanics who've determined that they cannot find the leak. The refrigerant is running out every two to three weeks, giving me hot air when I run my AC. I've researched and it looks like this could be a pretty damn expensive repair if it's the evaporator, which requires pulling the entire dash out. And this problem I'm almost certain didn't just start when I got the car; it's an inferior part and occurs almost immediately after the factory. My guess is their mechanic topped off the refrigerant before they put it on the lot to hide the issue. Of course, I can understand now why the car was listed under market. After all is said and done I'll be paying over market value for the vehicle. It's true about used cars; you inherit the problems of their previous owners and it looks like the guy didn't really care that much about the car. Peter was friendly, but I'm disappointed at poor disclosure. It's a business, I understand, however it's one I won't be returning to or referring without ample warning. I'm going to stick with certified pre-owned vehicles like I did with my Mazda from here on out. read more

I'm speaking on my experience with Peter. I test drove a car yesterday, and let him know I would get back to him the following morning with a decision. The following morning, I let him know I was ready to pull the trigger on the car. He asked for a holding deposit, which I agreed to. Immediately after I agree to the deposit, he told me another customer signed off on the car within the 20 minutes it took me to respond to his message. This obviously made me skeptical, even more so when he offered another car that was conveniently available at a higher price than the one I was purchasing. Thank you to Auto Ave for the classic bait and switch. I left work early for the test drive, and was ready to sign off on the car. Don't say the car is available and all you need to do is put down a deposit if that's not the truth. Just brought a 2017 Prius from Peter few days ago and all I can say is I am one happy customer. Initially, I was a bit standoff-ish about contacting Auto Avenue due to some of the negative reviews (very little) on Yelp and online. There are a lot of positive reviews but in this day/age you can "get" or influence positive reviews BUT not Auto Ave. One of my friends have had a co-worker who purchased a car from them previously and said he had a good experience to I contacted Peter. When I called him he seemed really aloof and almost didn't seem like he was a used car sales folks I have been talking for the last couple weeks. He almost seemed like he wasn't even trying to make me purchase a car from him but gave me all the pros and cons of a used car and what it comes with it. He was very sincere and honest about his opinions about purchasing a car from him. I have less than stellar credit and he said honestly he cannot promise I can get financed when I have had over 12 used car sales man prior to him promising me I will be approved and hounding me with phone calls. He is a straight shooter and didn't fluff anything up. Thankfully I was approved with Pacific City Bank with a solid APR, a lot lower than what most dealers quoted. I went to test drive the car I was interested in but this was a car I was purchasing for my mom and right now she is in Hawaii so he spoke with her about the car with a lot of patience and understanding. I put a deposit on the car because my mom couldn't make up her mind and he was quite understanding when my mom decided to go with another car on their lot instead. When I test drove the car he was very quiet and only answered questions I asked him. He let me really drive the car and even cool with me trying to find speed bumps to test out the suspension! It is truly refreshing to find an car sales person who is honest and genuine. It doesn't mean he is going to give a bunch of discounts but that is the part of buying a car. He gave me a pretty good deal on the car where I am satisfied. If you are interested in buying a car and cannot make a decision on the spot make sure you leave a deposit. It is not refundable but they make money off of sales. Don't get upset because you did not leave a deposit and they sold the car. This is their paycheck as well. They have more than just Peter as their sales person. So if you like the car but cannot pull the trigger leave a deposit. It's not refundable but if there is another car on their lot they will transfer it to that car. Also customer service is a lot better than saving a few hundred dollars. Other places you will probably not hear back from the sales person after the purchase. Peter still answers questions and helpful. I can see why others recommend him and why he has repeat customers. Not only does he sale used cars but he also can find you great deals on new leases and purchases as well. Next time I am in the market for a new car I will definitely be calling Peter! read more

I sold my car to Auto Ave, and had an incredible experience with Peter. I needed to sell my car, because I was moving to San Francisco. I shopped around- i took it to CarMax and some other big dealers and received quotes. However, Auto Ave. gave me the best deal, even above and beyond the worth of the car, because they valued customer experience. Some details: All of the other dealers wanted to only give me $4,000 - $4,200 to buy my car. However, i still owed about $4,850 on my auto-loan to the bank! That means, i was going to have to PAY money to get rid of my car to some of these other dealers. I took it to Auto Ave, because my roommate had a great experience with Peter previously, and boy was I happy I did. Peter and the owner worked with me to be able to completely buy out my car to 0 out my bank loan. They beat the other dealers by at least $500!!! I know that was a bit over the car's worth, but they knew how to make me happy and feel good. They also completely took care of the bank and closing the loan, so I didn't have to do a thing. There was something about the experience too, where I felt good saying goodbye to my car to them. They're good people, and you feel that when you're there. There's a reason why these local guys stay in business, and it's because of customer experiences like this. I also want to add that Peter is an absolutely amazing guy. He really gets to know people, and it's not fake. When i first cold called the dealer and Peter answered, I told him my roommate Michelle bought an Audi from him last year and he instantly remembered exactly who she was "Oh the australian actress who sews pillows around the corner?" See. He remembered, and he cared. Waiting for Peter's boss to arrive to help evaluate the car, I had some wonderful conversations with him about his mission in serving and helping people, and I can tell you they were 100% genuine. This is not a fancy place. It's a small lot in Koreatown with a very un-glamorous office. However, I can tell you they will treat you well and make you happy, and that's the car dealer you want to go to. It comes down to numbers and personalities, and this place has both. I recently purchased a 2013 Honda Accord EX from Auto Ave. and dealt with Peter. Let me tell you, besides purchasing a new home or starting a new job, buying a car, especially a used one, is a stressful and annoying undertaking. You walk on the lot, are bombarded by salesmen and get upsold on crap you don't need and will never use. Auto Ave. is not like that. Peter is not an upseller. Actually, Peter is quite the opposite. Peter is like the best friend you never knew you wanted but always wished you had. This guy is the kindest, gentlest, most compassionate person I have met in a long while. From the very first phone call to his dealership, he was the consummate professional, answering every one of my questions and never vacillating or stalling for an answer. Once I arrived at the dealership, things only got better. He introduced himself then backed away. He didn't encroach on my space and left me alone to look around. I found the car I was looking for, he tossed me the keys, didn't say a word, and let me "kick" the tires for as long as I needed. I finally asked him if I could take it out for a spin. He said "Sure! Let's go!". He didn't confiscate my driver's license like most shady car salesmen, and said to drive wherever I liked. I asked him if I could hit the highway. His response: "It would be rude not to!" I told you I loved this guy. The car ride lasted about half an hour, then we headed back to the dealership. We exited the car, and he headed back to his office. He did not ask me to join him. I asked him where he was going. He said back to his office and if I wanted anything, a bottle of water, just ask. He did not jump all over me to talk about the car. He left me alone with the car. And the keys. He gave me space. After another 15 minutes of extra tire kicking, I ventured into his office. I sat down and said "Let's talk". I won't bore you with the details, but less than an hour later, the car was mine. Peter even got me the best financing deal. I knew my FICO score was good, but not as good as Peter found it to be. I was amazed. Before allowing me to drive off in my new car, Peter said he wanted to make sure the car was in tip-top condition. He already had his mechanics give the car the once-over, but he went a litte further and made sure I got 4 new tires and an oil change. Say whaaaaaat?? The deal was already done, I had signed on the dotted line, but Peter would not let me take possession of the vehicle until the extra work was complete. Never in my life has a salesman gone that extra mile AFTER the deal was done. He then followed me with his own car to the mechanic who was a few miles away and paid for everything on the spot. I was nervous about coming to this dealer because I have had so many experiences in the previous months with sleazy deals but Peter was amazing! He was quick to respond to all of my questions and up front about everything. He also worked hard to do everything I asked in an expediant manner. i wanted to know if the minivan I was interested in was in good mechanical order... he had the car sent to a mechanic that very morning and sent me the report as soon as it was back. After seeing the car and knowing i was going to buy Peter worked really hard to get the car ready overnight because I was going out of town and could not wait till Monday for it to be ready. I saw the car at 3 pm on a Friday and he had it detailed and also had a spare key set made overnight. It was ready to pick up Saturday by 2 p.m. He also had all paperwork ready so it took only about 10 min to sign and drive away! This is my first review on Yelp - having used Yelp for ages, for everything from best brunch to kid-friendly pedicures, I finally officially signed up to tell you DEREK at Auto Avenue Sales is THE BEST!!! Not only was Derek incredibly helpful while I bought my beautiful Camry (and I shopped around, he gave me BY FAR the best price) but he added a month warranty even though the company policy is sell as-is. So I noticed on the freeway my car pulled slightly to the left and asked if I could get a wheel alignment. Derek, of course, said yes. I then proceeded to fall off the face of the earth, busy with life. Derek would text me, checking in to see when I wanted to come in, although if I let the warranty elapse it would be less money out of his pocket. Then, last Wednesday, he texted me to let me know the car had to be smog checked before he could exchange title. I, being me, ignored this and his follow-up calls. Today I called him to say I was leaving town tomorrow and could I do it when I got back? (Yes, I am a wildly responsible car owner.) So what does Derek do? HE CAME TO MY HOUSE TO PICK UP THE CAR, GET IT CHECKED, TRANSFER THE TITLE, AND BRING IT BACK. I was not aware used car buying typically came with concierge service - and, remember - Derek has already sold this car. He is not making more money off this. He is just being awesome. When I asked him if I could bring the car in for a wheel alignment next week, I then remembered he had told me he would be on vacation, so I said never mind. Derek, being Derek, says "well, I'm not vacationing far away, so I'd be happy to come in." ON HIS VACATION.
