I had my vehicle repaired here and got charged for every little things. Things that you got to have to run a shop. Also, they ignored my call as soon as I called them about my car, and when I picked up my vehicle, the fuel was below empty. It was half a tank when I dropped it off, also had dirty hand marks all over inside roof. Call them about it. Never got a return call. read more

These folks were awesome. After four wheeling back roads in Utah, I came into Cortez with the plastic skid plate on my Rav 4 dragging because the clips that hold the skid plate on were ripped out. The mechanic on duty at the time worked about 45 minutes to reattach it. Not being from the area, I expected a pretty hefty bill. The result: "No Charge". I tipped the mechanic well. read more

Went in to ask about getting some front end work done on my 2015 Jeep Cherokee. Right away I was helped and given an appointment time. Asked for an estimate and again got a quick response. I feel like they went above and beyond what I was expecting. Plus found a problem with a brake caliper. Grateful for how thoroughly the looked things over. When all was said and done I spent $700 LESS than what I was quoted with my estimate. They did a great job. Very professional and very honest. This shop is not trustworthy. They tried to charge me $3200 for brake replacements. I took it to another shop and only had to pay $450. They also charged me $120 as a diagnostic fee, which is absurdly expensive since they didn't do any work on it. Additionally, they did not return my car to me until the following day so that they could clock out early at 4pm instead of 5pm. Do not take your vehicle here. read more

We had Auto Masters repair our Volvo S80 radiator in 2012. They did a great job at a reasonable price. Today we heard a screeching sound whenever our car was moving. We naturally took the car to Auto Masters. When they test drove it, the noise was gone. We were told that the issue was probably caused by a rock that fell out right before the test drive. Auto Masters put the car on the lift to make sure, and confirmed that a rock had caused the issue, but had not caused further damage. We were surprised when we were told "no charge". We highly recommend Auto Masters! read more

Out of town travelers with camper having emergency brake issues. After bad experiences with both Chevy and Ford dealerships nearby, stopped in here. Phenomenal group of people. We're able to work us in and get us taken care of. While sitting in the shop, we saw numerous people, including local first responders, bringing in their vehicles, all with positive things to say and very family like interactions. They gave us excellent service, reasonable cost and we were very appreciative. We gave the shop manager some cash to buy the shop lunch the next day because they worked so hard to get us to our next destination in time. Thank you!!! read more

Highly recommend Auto Masters. We were en route from Moab to Albuquerque in our 2006 Jetta diesel when the alternator went out. We limped into Cortez on the battery which died in Auto Masters' parking lot. While we got lunch and wandered around Cortez they obtained a new alternator, serpentine belt, and fixed the problem. We were on the road in about 2 hours from the time we pulled in. The price was totally fair. Good people. read more

Bottom line: we were 100% satisfied with our experience there. We couldn't ask for more than that. We were on our way back to Paonia after 6 months on the road in a 1996 Ford Tioga RV when, checking the tires before heading into the mountains, I noticed the drip drip of radiator fluid. We weren't familiar with Cortez but Travis at Big O Tires recommended Auto Masters. It had great reviews on Yelp so we went there. Debbie at the desk was just finishing setting up an older couple who seemed to be happy return customers. We explained our situation, including that we needed to get to Paonia this afternoon, and right away Debbie asked those customers if they would allow us to be dealt with first. The nice couple agreed and Debbie sent Tom, the mechanic, out to help us. He ran tests to rule out the obvious problems and discovered a tiny hole in the rubber overflow hose. He cheerfully fixed that and when we went in to pay, he and Debbie agreed they didn't have to charge us for his time and expertise and for fixing the problem. We were on our way within half an hour of arriving. We'd definitely go back there if we had any mechanical problem passing through again and we'll probably simply stop in to say hello next time we do pass through. read more

After a long, stressful 15 hours on the road through the darkness wondering if we'd make it to Cortez (our 1/2 way home point between Texas and Oregon), we found this shop based on the reviews on Google, and we were not disappointed. We arrived right as they opened, and they got us right in to do the work needed to get us back on the road. Not only were they honest and affordable, but they pay attention to the details to give you the extra piece of mind when traveling. Thankfully, they noticed we were missing 3 lugs on our tire, and replaced those, as well as checked and tightened all the others. Super nice guys, and great service--highly recommended. read more

We are from out of town, found ourselves 400 miles from home in an RV that didn't have power and was going 15mph uphill. Initially thought it was a transmission issue, went to "Jimmy's Transmission" shop in town, awesome guy there did some investigation and figured it wasn't transmission and sent us to Auto Masters. At Auto Masters, Dave and gang took us in the same day, and after some diagnostic work, figured out the problem and were able to repair in timely matter for reasonable price. Now it's working great! Last week my daughter and I were driving through Cortez, trying to get home to Indiana in time for Christmas, and that evening we had car trouble. We came into Auto Masters first thing the next morning, and they immediately took a look at it for us. An unscrupulous mechanic could have taken us for thousands of dollars, but they checked things over and gave us the go-ahead to travel on over the Rockies before four days of snowy weather was due to set in the next day. We got home in time for Christmas, and we are so happy! And they didn't charge us anything for taking a look at it for us, even though they spent over an hour checking things over. I had an overall horrible experience. It all started with telling AutoMasters that I thought I had a wheel bearing going out. I told them that I had this squeak that would not go away. I took my truck in and got a phone call that it was actually my brake pads and rotors. They said they could fix it in a day. I got a phone call later that day stating that after they fixed my breaks they could hear a "humming" noise coming from my bearings!!! After already charging almost $400 dollars already, they want to charge me another almost $500 dollars for changing out my bearing. Seems to me they are running a scam to get business!! To top everything all off, I pick up my truck and it has the EXACT!! same noise it was making before I dropped it off. Thanks for nothing Automasters!! What a scam! read more

We brought our 2003 Civic in for some basic maintenance as well as to troubleshoot a "clunking" noise we heard when pressing the brake. We had taken the car to two other shops, in Arizona and New Mexico (we are traveling the country) including a brake specialist, but they couldn't find anything wrong. These guys found the problem and fixed it. No more clunking! Plus, we were able to get the car in for service the same day we called - and back to us that same day as well. Competent and friendly! If you like really high prices and really crappy parts go here. They have now installed two AC compressors that both failed just out of warranty and now want another $800 to install another. $3,200 has been spent on the AC system of a 95 Ford and it doesn't work. Recently charged $100 to recharge freon when the compressor was leaking and couldn't find leak, then charged another $80 to tell us the latest crappy compressor they installed was leaking and it would cost another $800-$1,000 to replace. Lots of excuses about warranties but no customer satisfaction. Truck has now been in to them for AC repairs 5 times in 3 years and still doesn't work. read more
