Gotta say, anytime there's something wrong with your car, it's a little bit stressful. Mine was a dying battery. Will it start, won't it start? (Spoiler alert: it won't). Andy was able to take me in on the day I called, and fixed that puppy in under an hour, reasonably priced. Discussed with me how it was the battery at issue and not some other electrical system thing at fault, which was also my worry. As I left, Shirley cheerfully said, "See you soon!", to which I thought, "I hope not", but if I *do* get in a situation requiring car work, they'll be the first I call! PS. This place is connected to the ATS in Hayes Valley. They opened I think 5mos ago to expand the body work side of the business, although they do service here as well. On the strength of the other location's reputation I brought my beater in for a scheduled oil change, brake inspection and a couple minor body work fixes--one of my front turn lights was smashed in and the hatch lock was hanging out after someone tried to break in. They did good work, the price was reasonable and Chris was easy to deal with. Communication was clear and he paid attention to the details. I would definitely recommend taking your car here. read more

Two reasons this place rocks: 1) I acquired a car, took it to a neutral diagnostic mechanic and paid $85 to get an inspection. He told me what was wrong, and estimated $1,400 to fix it. I took it straight to Andy at ATS, and he told me what was wrong with it ... EXACTLY the same as the neutral mechanic, and gave me a price quote for ... You guessed it ... $1,400. What an amazing feeling driving off in a brand new BMW! That's how I felt just a couple hours ago when I picked up my car which they completed on time and to estimate. Now even CSI would have trouble finding the section of roof that my stupid garage door chomped on or the deep scarring gouged into the front bumper by an ugly concrete post. Have been my main mechanic since 2002. Have had three different cars since I have been using them. They offer exceptional service at very reasonable prices. The couple that runs the business is kind and courteous. I always get the best prices from them. The work is outstanding and consistent. It is very easy for me to make appointments. This is one of the best finds in San Francisco. I needed body work done to my VW Golf and after 3 very high estimates, I randomly pulled into ATS Auto where I met Andy Lee and his lovely wife Shirley (I assume they are married - I never asked!). Andy gave me an estimate that was so much lower than the others that I thought at first he was joking. Turns out that he wasn't and it was the most amazing, quick, trustworthy experiences I have ever had with any mechanic/auto body shop. Andy does everything - oil changes to alignments (which I got) to paint/dents/all auto body. I cannot recommend ATS auto enough. I've used these folks twice now, and you won't find better service. I doubt you'd find a cheaper price. And I've left totally satisfied with the work. My first experience was somewhat urgent...my car battery was dying and I had things to do! They fit me in and turned me around in record time. I went back to them recently for a brake job... all four rotors and pads. I had checked the dealer's prices just for comparison, and ATS was much cheaper (and much nicer about answering my questions). Even though my car had a lot more rust than they'd expected (it lived in the Northeast for most of its life), they held to their estimate even though they had to stay a bit late to finish the job. Car was leaking a ton of oil and from the first place I went to they said to fix the pipe they would need to take out the engine so I went here and asked for a quote that was $600. I was bummed and frustrated that it was going to cost this much. I called Andy to check on the car and he told me he could fix it without taking out the engine and cost would be 75% less. The total came to $180 instead of $600. This place did a great job and is very friendly. I am so happy to have found ATS-Auto trust. They are honest and offer a great service. Having gone to many different shops in the city to service my car, it's great to finally found ATS. It really feels like taking your car to a good friend rather than some of the less than above board shops where you're constantly worried about how you're going to be gouged next. In fact, how many businesses, much less auto shops, do you know where everyone is on a first name basis like with Andy and Shirley? There's been at least three times when my ride starts acting up. Whereas usually that would be a cause for panic, now I just put a call in to Shirley and drop it off on my way home. I have no worries that the situation will be handled right. The latest time, Andy tested the car all day and figured out a leak was just condensation from my never used air conditioner. Great news and no charge either! I can't recommend ATS high enough, send all my friends there and if you want one less worry, you should go there too! read more

A couple weeks ago, after picking up my wife from work, we were making our way to 101 when the engine overheated and coolant had leaked out. This was after 9pm. I called CSAA and the tow truck driver said he knew someone close by who could take a look and took my BMW X5 over to ATS. It was a pleasant surprise that the shop was open so late. Andy took a quick initial look but gave a detailed quote the next day. This wasn't my normal service place but I checked out the other reviews and decided to take a chance. Needed a new water pump and alternator belt, among other things. The parts and labor were very reasonable. Everything was ready to go that evening. I picked up the car outside of their regular hours but they were very flexible with that. I guess to sum up the experience: Without a doubt, I'd go back again. read more

So my car got ran over by someone who doesn't pay attention to stoplights or the fact that all the cars around him were stopped. So here I am, super sad that my 1 year old Mazdaspeed 3 is looking like a complete loss. Luckily, I had come to ATS a few months earlier for an oil change and because I was having tire issues. I knew that Andy and Shirley were honest people who do excellent work and forced the tow truck to go there. When I came in (which was late in the day), they took care of everything including getting the towing fee taken care of despite the tow truck guy making it as difficult as possible not to go to some place he was getting kickbacks at. This was the best decision I made in the process. They worked with insurance to make sure everything was taken care of. He took the time to get OEM parts. They simply do things the right way here. Since the car was out of commission anyways, I decided I wanted to upgrade to retrofitted HID headlamps and Andy actually installed them for no charge (minus the retrofit part, which is a specialized process). When I got the car back, it looked and drove like nothing had ever happened! Amazing! But that was not the end of the story. Within the next month, there began an intermittent knocking noise coming from the suspension in the front and the back on the side that was not hit. At first I could not reproduce it, but finally it got frequent enough that Andy heard it on one of the drive-arounds that he took the time to do. Once he pinpointed the noise, he again worked with the insurance company to get it fixed again (my balance is still $0 at this point). Now, noise gone! So now, after all of that, I got a car that is like-new with better headlights. I cannot recommend this place more highly. read more

This place is swell. I remember using them back when they were on Fell and I lived nearby. They were my favorite back then. Here in SOMA, I was having great results with a mom-and-pop body shop at this same location, and mechanical service from Metropolitan around the block. Now both of those are gone, but ATS has taken over the old body shop location, meaning full service body and mechanical work under one roof. I got estimates from every single shop and Auto Trust Services gave me the best estimate with the best option. Andy and Shirley are super trustworthy and honest, besides offering a more than fair price! We found them thru a friend's referral and have been taking our cars there since I moved to SF. Another huge plus is that the are open on Saturdays, so you can drop off your car there on Friday night after work and pick it up on Saturday when it's ready and you don't have to miss work or your lunch hour to take care of your vehicle needs. I'm not sure why my experience would be so different from all these other Yelpers, but I feel inclined to share the very unsatisfactory experience I had at ATS recently. I'd been there before for the cheap oil change and the friendly service. But this time I took my car in for a couple of clicks and squeaks my car was letting out occasionally, as well as the recent appearance of the check engine light. My car is worth about $4,000, so when Andy got back to me with an estimate of just under $3,000, I almost lost it. Needless to say I was thinking I'd better sell my car, because I don't have anywhere near that amount of money to put into my car (and I'm pretty sure Andy knows this). He'd told me that I need a catalytic converter which would be, according to him, $2,000 to replace, as well as a new wheel bearing and a couple new belts. I decided that before I sell my car--which by the way I love--I'd better get a second opinion. I called a motorhead friend of mine who gave me a recommendation for a mechanic he's known and trusted for years. So I drove all the way out to Cheda's Garage in Point Reyes Station for a second look. The guys there were extremely honest and not out to gouge anyone. He got in my car and listened to the noise and said "that's not a wheel bearing". I left the car with them and $66 later, they had tightened up a few loose--not bad--parts. The clicks and squeaks have stopped, the check engine light went out and my car drives like a champ. This was the best possible news I could have hoped for, but it left me wondering, how could the ATS estimate have been so far off? Was he really just making that stuff up? And if so, what kind of a person would do that? I for one, won't be returning there anytime soon. Oh and by the way, I have gotten other estimates on Catayltic converters from exhaust garages and you can get a new one installed for under $300, not $2,000! read more

Recently I needed auto body work on the front grille and hood and Fred recommended Andy Lee at ATS-Auto Trust Services in San Francisco. Fred always has great recommendations so I followed his advice. I met Andy and he explained what needed to be done. He was very specific and I knew right away he was a perfectionist, exactly what I was looking for. He said it would take 5 business days and offered to take the car immediately to begin the work. True to his word 5 business days later the car was ready. He did a beautiful job at a very reasonable cost. I would recommend Andy at ATS to anyone looking for a great auto body repair shop. Andy is by far the most hardworking and honest mechanic who really goes an extra mile to make sure his customers are happy. When Andy gave my car a test drive it was raining and he noticed that my windshield wipers were old....replaced them for free. Not only does he do a great job, but he really tries to save customers money. It seems to me that he charges much less on labor than other mechanics I've been to in the past, which I really appreciate! I recently bought a used car that has turned out to be quite the lemon.
