Can't even believe this place. Complete ripoff!I went a couple months ago for the first time paid upwards of 600. I thought i was safe in their hands. Came in this week for what seemed like a simple problem. The coolant hose on my jeep bursted and needed to be replaced. They quoted be 430 including testing. I said don't test it, brought the price down to 365. I called brake center in tarzana they called for the same part, only coats 30$. Yes 30$. New quote + labor, 130. AutoAid is a complete ripoff. I have been a customer of Auto Aid and Rescue since 1992. 25 years later, they are still the best auto shop in town. 25 years ago when I was a starving student at a nearby school, I had a squeaky wheel. Sadly, I took it to a brand name shop down the street where they talked me into spending $400 on a new caliper. Of course that didn't fix the problem and the work was probably not even done. I asked a teacher at the school where I should take the car. He sent me to Auto Aid and Rescue. They looked at it, realized that I had a bent rim causing the noise. I gave 1 star because I never made it in. I spoke with Dave on the phone who rubbed me the wrong way. I immediately told him that my oil light came on last night and asked him how busy it was. When he told me he could squeeze me in the afternoon, (I called at 10am), I told him I was work all afternoon. He then asked me about the next day and I said, "oh no, I don't want to drive on the vehicle, (I work downtown and live in Van Nuys). He said, "well, you have to drive the vehicle in HERE, don't you?". Just that type of condescending, downward talk to a woman bringing her vehicle to you gets you a poor review. I'm not an idiot but he is. After all, this was not a routine oil change, it was overdue and the oil light was on. Tomorrow was too late and he should have known that. And how is driving all the way downtown in the heat the same as driving a couple of miles to his service station? Not a fan of his attitude. I'm going elsewhere, 0.5 miles from my home in Van Nuys and I will review them as well. read more

These guys are great - I can't say enough good things about this shop. they're smart, the place is clean, there's a nice waiting room, they take the time to talk you through all the repairs. there's no hard sell on stuff you don't need, they are willing to discuss what has to be done NOW, and what can wait, if you can't pay for all the repairs. they even save the damaged parts & will show them to you if you want! In addition, they washed the car, use a AAA discount on labor, and give new customers a little welcome kit for your glove compartment. and there's coffee & cookies in the waiting room! I read some good reviews here, so I brought my 4Runner in with a mystery leak to have them investigate. In short time, they put it up on a lift and found that my oil filter wasn't tightened properly. They did not pressure me to have any work done, wrote up a report for me to show to the shop that goofed (not in the LA area), then checked my tire pressures all around. Wow what a great experience I just had. David and his entire team did such a great job. I brought my car in (on a Friday) knowing that something was really wrong with it as I was smelling a burning oil smell whenever I'd get out of the car after driving it. Low and behold, yes there was a major oil leak and there was oil all over my engine. David called me and advised me that the care was not safe to drive and that he would get back to me with an estimate. By Monday (they are closed on the weekend) they were working on getting it cleaned up and ordering parts and were in constant correspondence with me. I did have to rent a car, but they provided me a discount at the car rental place which was super helpful. Disgusted with this establishment and contacted the Department Of Consumer Affairs Bureau of Automotive repair in regard to my story which I won't bore you too much with the details but suffice to say my car was MISDIAGNOSED not once but TWICE at this place, both times my car left the garage my car had the same complaint and broke down on the freeway.. unbelievable!! They also overcharged me for work and said my car needed over $2,000 worth of work to be done. I took it to another garage after losing $1,500 on the 'work' AutoAid performed which was unnecessary, the car didn't need a new battery guys as you know and the new guys fixed the problem for $300.All my car needed was a valve adjustment. I know these places take advantage of people and it's pathetic, women on here being taken advantage of, overcharged etc etc You really should be ashamed, don't use this place, I am considering small claims court and I am also considering contacting all the people on Yelp here to see if they wish to join me. AVOID, AVOID, AVOID.. SHAME, SHAME, SHAME. You think you somehow got one over on the dissatisfied customers here but we are fighting back, and don't load all your "good" yelp reviews on the front here there are enough bad. Learn how to run a business and give customer satisfaction and make amends when they are unhappy. Like I said considering small claims court. read more

I found a used Dodge Grand Caravan for sale in the valley and wanted to have it inspected by a credible mechanic to be sure that there weren't any issues with it that the dealer was not aware of or; perhaps not disclosing. After some research online, I was surprised at how poor the reviews were for local Dodge/Chrysler dealer service departments as well as area mechanics in general. Then I found AutoAid & Rescue and quite frankly couldn't believe the gushing reviews. It seemed like my best option so I called and Per was able to set up an appointment for later that day. Convenient When I pulled in, it was immediately apparent that this was not your average auto repair shop. I was promptly greeted, my vehicle was checked in, the shop was IMMACULATE clean and organized. As promised, the vehicle was inspected thoroughly in a little over an hour and I was provided a detailed report in writing but, in addition, Per walked me through all the key issues that he found on the vehicle so that I could examine for myself. Finding a reliable car service/repair shop I guess is always a challenge for most of us especially women. I found Auto Aid and Rescue thru AAA and I've had my car serviced by them probably three times already. They are very efficient, trustworthy and have great customer service. The first thing that caught my attention was the cleanliness of the place. I felt comfortable right away. David was very professional and helpful. He explained everything to me and I didn't have to wait long for my car to be serviced. I didn't mind waiting though as their waiting area was equipped with a TV, coffee, kids play area (good for the moms) and most importantly a super clean restroom.
