So, apparently the local RepairSmith that said there was a minimum charge of $160 didn't know what he was talking about - the corporate center contacted me confused about my review, and after explaining what had happened, they said "there is no minimum threshold, we don't know why he said that." It sounds like someone just thought they could get me to buy more. RepairSmith felt bad and gave me a free coupon for an oil change next time. I appreciate it - I've had REAL ISSUES with the mechanics here in Austin trying to sell me stuff I don't need, so it's nice to see someone apologize for a shady employee. Cannon was very knowledgeable and helpful. He took the time to explain why truck would not start. My 2002 Ford F150 would not start. I thought my starter was out since the truck was 20 years old. I had an electrical issue that caused my "open door" light to stay on, my dome light would not extinguish, and my fog lights stopped working. David Carrigan came out, 3 hours early. He called me and asked if he could come early, to which I agreed. He diagnosed the issue and quickly found out that the issue with the open door light and dome light stemmed from a dent on the inside of my driver's door. That dent was caused by my seatbelt sometimes getting caught between the door and the jamb when I closed the door. That dent prevented the metal door from completely pushing in the "door closed" sensor. Wow. What a relief that it wasn't something more serious and expensive. The fog lights were caused by a faulty switch. He is a perfect diagnostician and I appreciate his timeliness, professionalism, and honesty. Beware - do not give them your credit card number upfront !!! I scheduled to have my brake pads replaced and was quoted a specific price. You must input your credit card info to schedule apt. ( HUGE MISTAKE) They informed me the technician would arrive between 3pm -5pm. He arrived at 5:07pm ( not too late), called me to let me know he arrived and was going to start the service. Around 6pm he called to inform me he could not replace my pads because I needed rotors as well then went on a long list of other things that had nothing to do with brakes that I should have done. I said can you just replace my brakes and rotors if that needs to be done as well. He responded it's too late in the day to get parts and I would have to schedule another appointment to have it completed. But offered no assistance as to when or how. Then informed me I would be charged $139 because " I have to charge you for something since I came out so I did a 21 point inspection" or something like that. I said I never authorized my card to be charged for an "inspection" I already knew I needed brakes that's why I made the appointment! Very disappointing! read more

These guys are absolutely jerks! They were in my condo neighborhood, and they were driving the wrong way on a one-way street. I pointed this out to the driver, whose response was, "You didn't see me driving, did you" with a smirk. I can understand that it's a holiday, and maybe he didn't want to be working, but what a jerk! I took off work early on Monday 10/21 for the service technician to say he could not find my apartment # even though it was clearly stated in my account. He gave no effort as he sat in the front of my apartment complex until he canceled. Charging me 50$. Then as I rescheduled to the 23rd, I took off early again to meet the technician. He canceled 25 minutes after my scheduled appointment saying he was falling behind. I am not able to use my car and have had to take off early twice for nothing to get done. I would not recommend this company to anyone. read more

DO NOT use this service if you actually need your car to be serviced at the scheduled date and time. Woke up yesterday morning and our one and only car wouldn't start. Borrowed a neighbor's car to get my child to school, came home and found RepairSmith online and made an appointment for the next day from 12-2 pm. Halfway into the time slot, I got a notification that the mechanic was still at the last appointment and they would have to cancel our appointment for today and I would have to reschedule. I called, because, really? The customer service person was very nice and explained that the next available appointment wasn't until 2 days from now. How does a company like this, that routinely has to reschedule/cancel appointments due to it taking longer than expected at the previous appointment not have a system where there is an open slot either at the end of the day or very first thing the next morning that the cancelled/rescheduled appointment automatically gets put into? That's absurd. There is no way a rescheduled appointment on their end should just go into whatever spot is next available, which is apparently often two days away (confirmed by a customer service rep). Also, when I said they could put me in that slot two days later, but if I found another solution earlier, I would cancel - I was told there is a $50.00 cancellation fee if cancelled within 24 hours of the scheduled event. Hard no. It's a great concept with poor execution. read more
