For the past few months, my 2014 Chevy Traverse has made sounds which I thought might be engine mounts. I had been reluctant to "take it in" somewhere because I was afraid that it would turn into a huge expense, maybe legitimate and maybe not. After some research I decided to contact Steve's Mobile Repair and I could not be happier with the outcome. Technician Jack came out to our house and in the driveway and with some test driving quickly determined it was two different mounts that needed to be replaced. The two mounts were completely shot. I mean bad. Jack managed to change the mounts in our driveway with just a floor jack to lift the engine. Jack knows what he is doing and does everything fast. Pretty amazing actually. This fine gentleman and crew totally saved our night. Wife and I went to a show on campus and upon parking in the garage, the transmission shifter cable on my Tahoe totally came off. Steve sent an associate, Daniel (whom was very curtious, diligent and respectful) to check out my car. After about an hour, Daniel tried one of his batteries in my vehicle and it seemed to fix my power steering issue, so I was told I needed to replace the battery, which is fine- my battery was just bought this past August and is under warranty. As far as the many electrical issues my car is experiencing, Daniel referred me out to go to Christianson Bro's, because they're good with electrical problems. I was told by Daniel that once I replaced the battery, I'd be able to drive it to Christianson. I gave Daniel a $20 tip, bringing the total to $108.00 Replacing the battery at Auto Zone was super easy, but unlike what Daniel predicted, I haven't been able to get my car out of the parking lot. I reached out to Steve twice to see if he had any additional suggestions or could have Daniel look it over again and I didn't receive any responses (I had been receiving responses pretty quickly before this) All in all I could have taken the battery out, had someone take me to auto zone to change it (since i knew it was a part of the problem) and i could have saved myself $108 the electrical work was why i needed help. If they aren't up for the job or don't have the equipment then that should be told up front. I am disappointed and have told my friends not to use this service. read more

I did not have a good experience with these guys. Called for fixing steering wheel issue. Steve and his apprentice didn't diagnose correctly or fix the problem. I was in a bit of a bind when our car wouldn't start and I needed to get my fiancé to an oncology appointment. I sent Steve a text, explained the situation, and he was able to send a guy out to my house within a few hours. The technician came prepared with anything he needed and although I initially suspected we had a faulty starter he was able to determine that it was just a bad battery. He popped in a battery with a 3 year warranty and didn't try to upcharge me on any additional services. Easy to work with, swift response time. Steve was friendly, helpful, and provided great service. He met me within 90 minutes of placing a call, got to work immediately, and had the problem fixed in 10 minutes. Diagnosed and did preventative maintenance in about an hour. He explained everything he was doing the whole time, showed me the parts he was working on, and didn't make me feel pressured to pay for anything extra. At one point he even suggested replacing a component, took it out and looked at it, and said that it actually looked in good condition and that I probably didn't need to pay for replacing it after all. I am actually jealous that he's found 2 young guys to do the work for him as well as they do, as I've tried to hire people in my own business with work ethics like that. I do a lot of my own auto repairs but there are some things best left to a professional. That professional is Steve. On top of everything else, he's been the most honest mechanic I've ever used. I've been using him for about 5 years and they've never done me wrong. They've worked on everything from my 1970 Dodge Challenger to my 2016 Toyota Tundra and everything in between. I called Steve's only because I spent enough time reading the other reviews to take a chance on them. I'm definitely using them going forward on repairs on my Toyota 1989 pickup. His employee Jack worked on my truck and figured out my problem in a half hour and had it running like it should. Moving forward I will be using these guys for all my repairs. I did a tune up on my truck put on new wires plugs distributor cap and rotor got the timing line up and it was still idling rough. I went back over everything to see if I didn't put the wires on right or didn't tighten plugs correctly. Checked the timing you name it I did it and still missed the one plug. He also caught a few other small things that in time would have created a problem. All in all I am thoroughly happy with these guys and their pricing is fair. Was a little skeptical at first when I saw the brown company van pull up looking a little worse for wear, butbitndidnt take long to realize this was a great find of a vendor. Daniel got right to work and was incredibly thorough and informative. He fixed the issue in about two hiursnon site and had everything he needed. As a bonus, while shooting the breeze I mentioned a problem tail light that Toyota of North Austin has never been able to fix a long running problem taillight issue on the vehicle--one that the Toyot dealer themselves spent hopeless hours trying to fix but never could (though they still figured out how to bill us $100's Dr the unfixed issue) Daniel was able to quickly realize the problem and in the course maybe ten minutes he had the taillight problem figured out and fixed without having I refer to a $200 diagnostic station or anything more than some pliers and gearhwad knowledge. Found Steve on Reddit and for the first time in my life don't feel cheated by a mechanic. I'm not a car expert so when my brake hose went out I had no idea what was wrong--my tire started screeching, and I was getting pulled in different directions. Took my Jeep to a Jeep shop here in town and was quoted $3600 to fix several issues that weren't even related to the brake hose. Daniel came out because he services the Hutto and Pflugerville area. He was informative, personable, and honest. Him and Steve tried to diagnose the car. Daniel tested all the fuses, relays, and used different test instruments while mitigating risk factors. The problem is too complex and confusing. He was straight forward about it. We drove an hour into Austin for a doctor's appointment and on our way home the whole car started shaking. We pulled over in a random neighborhood because we had no choice.
