There are many other used car dealers and mechanics operating in the greater Boston. That vehicle they are selling that you really want will be available somewhere else soon. I went to view a rare luxury vehicle. There were signs that this "business" was shady from the beginning. Owner Eddie did not let me take the vehicle on a test drive myself and refused to let me take it for a pre-purchase inspection because he said he only had one dealer plate. He only lists on Craigslist and does not use Carfax in order to save a few bucks- pretty laughable for a place that he says has been in business for thirty years. After negotiating, I purchased the vehicle. When I took it to my mechanic a few days later, he discovered serious issues. When I told Eddie, he outright refused to take my car in for repairs within the 30 day warranty period set by the state for qualifying used cars. He soon blocked my number. Weird considering he bragged about how he goes above and beyond for people that buy cars from him. The main issue was a sunroof that did not properly close causing water to flood the car. Eventfully, the electronics failed because of water damage. It was estimated by the dealer to be a $9,000 fix- far more than what I paid. I filed for arbitration through the MA Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation. Eddie was flustered, emotional, and could not explain himself. The arbitrator ruled in my favor and he was forced to write me a check for the original purchase price due to Autotech's illegal business tactics. It appears from reading other reviews that they sell vehicles purchased dirt cheap at auction with major issues. They have gone by many names including Autotech, Autotech II, DC Automotive Malden, and Eddie's Autotech, probably to run from the bad reviews. They also appear to have multiple Facebook pages. The Office of Consumer Affairs and the Attorney General's office- just to name a few- are now aware of the kind of business being run here. read more

My daughter bought a car and got it home. I payed over 600 to fix the bad brakes and rotors plus a sway bar. Drive it next day it was overheating. Dropped it off again. Picked it up today and it's bucking. OMG. DO NOT BUY FROM HERE!!! Cars are AS IS. I am now buying spark plugs and wires, needs oil changed, needs a battery. There are 10 codes when we hooked it up to check. Horrible nightmare. The person came over and persuaded me to change the battery for 210 dollars. Three days later, I saw low battery warning on the panel. I called the number listed on the battery, the guy (I guess he is the owner) stated that he is a 30 year experienced mechanic (really???), insisted there is something wrong with my car and refused to come over to check his battery. I have to take the car to the dealership. The technician checked everything and told me the battery was bad (must be super bad, otherwise why was it broken within 3 days). I texted the owner again, wow this time he asked me to take the car back and he will replace the battery for me after I spent over $200 examination fee at the dealer (seriously???). I replaced the battery at the dealership of course. I asked him for half refund. He agreed. The next day I wanted to confirm with him on when and how he would give me refund. he didn't answer my call. just texted me saying it would be around 8 pm. I told him I could go to his store. He told me that he would call me in a bit. Actually no call till the end of the day. I texted him at 6 pm, he replied that he would call me within an hour (you could guess, of course no call~~). I texted him again two hours later (830 pm), he said he was in NH and asked me to come to Saugus to meet when he came back. I got really angry at this moment and texted back either give me full refund or if he didn't feel guilty, he could keep the money. he said OK. He didn't say sorry since the beginning and treat me as I am the one who made mistake. despite the business part, how could one person treat the others like this. Wow i mean just wow... Bought this 2005 Nissan Pathfinder from MR.ED paid 5,000 cash on the spot. I am a mother of 4 kids i don't just have 5,000 just to spend for the hell of it... In desperate need i explained how i just got bamboozled by a car dealer who sold me a He assured me this is Massachusetts can't happen here.. Went for the test drive loved it bought it right that's how it works.... The next day cae is overheating bring it back o it was your hose Assy changed it .picked it up 2 days after we has to redo my paperwork ok left with the truck.. Brought it in the next day the truck was loosing energy wouldn't want to accelerate he fixed it... Now we go to get an inspection failed tires and ball joints he even added new brakes I'm telling you i felt good about this guy and his business.. Today May 27 i woke up in tears like not knowing what to do that's why yelp I'm here with my raw emotions... I got bamboozled again i just hope no one else does here's all my eveidence i wasted way over what the truck is worth trying to fix it to get the inspection I'm done... Took ot to Kelly Nissan and they gave me the run down on the truck rebuild transmission welded diffrentials like wtf i was driving a death car with my 4 kids inside ... Great service, nice people. I was pleasantly surprised that they came back with a diagnosis that fit my understanding of the problem AND came in at the low end for labor time to complete the job. (i.e. no one was trying to convince me I needed repairs that weren't necessary nor were they inflating charges.) I feel that I was treated fairly and provided prompt and courteous service at a fair price. I will definitely be back and recommend them to others. read more

I called several places before taking my newly-acquired used Hyundai Accent to be repaired here. They had competitive prices on a major repair -- both the timing belt and water pump needed replacement. They did not charge separate labor for each part, which is great! But this is probably because both parts are taken apart at the same time anyway. Still, this shows honesty, and turnaround time was prompt. I came in for the water pump and timing belt only, because I knew they needed to be done. After driving for over a year after this, it turned out the car was in good mechanical condition and didn't need any other work, so they did not recommend any unnecessary repairs. Update: In 2013 or 2014, someone at this garage replaced my wife's timing belt and at least one other belt (serpentine belt?) on her Kia Rio. One of these belts must not have been tensioned properly because a belt squeals whenever we start this car. The squealing goes away after less than a minute, so I have never bothered to take it back to correct this. But this shouldn't have happened. read more

I need my car for work: no car no work. Saturday it broke down in the Stop&Shop parking lot. A women helping me suggested Ed's AutoTech . The AAA Tow driver also agreed about how good AutoTech is as he towed my car to the place. Monday at 8:00am the mechanics started on my car and I was out the door with my car running perfectly by 9:30 . The bill was cheaper then what I have been charged in the past for the same repair. Thanks to Ed's AutoTech I only missed 1 and half days of work. I plan to now use AutoTech for oil changes plus maintenance as I trust this friendly, honest garage not to take advantage and to keep my car running smoothly so I never miss work again. read more

I had a very bad experience with this place. I purchased a used Hyundai Accent from Autotech for $3,000. Less than 4 weeks later, the car broke down. Turns out the belt snapped and destroyed the engine valves, rendering the car essentially dead. I had the car towed to back Autotech, and not only did the guy there pretend he did not remember me or the car he had sold me just week earlier because "I sell a lot of Hyundai's, I don't even remember selling this one to you", but he offered me only $500 for the car or to repair it for around the price I paid for it. Terrible business. If you are looking to purchase a reliable used car from an honest businessman, go elsewhere. read more
