Great customer service!!! I dont know about any other girls but I get intimidated when I go do car maintenance. I have no clue what I need or what I'm talking about. Apparently there are two filters in my car? a cabin and the other one that goes under the hood. Yeah, okay, sure...lol Well, Toyota said I needed to change the cabin filter. They told me I can pay them $35 to change it out or do it myself. Um...I'm not buying a $35 filter...that must be some magic filter that filters pollution and stuff. Took my car to autozone and told the guy I needed a cabin filter. Guy told me where the cabin was and how to take it a part to put the new one in. The filter was only $13!!! and I changed it myself!!! felt like a big girl doing big things in the world...hahahah read more

I will NOT be returning to this Auto Zone. Out of loyalty to the brand I try to return to Auto Zone for auto parts/supplies. This was the worst Auto Zone experience I've had. If you take ANYthing away from this review it is the recommendation to NOT GO. There is an O'Reillys and a brand new Advanced Auto Parts right across the street. I walked in and stood at the register where a couple was being helped by a lady. This was a Friday afternoon around 4:30-5pm. As soon as they left she fled the scene to possibly get change for her register it looked/sounded like. I'm not sure if her shift was over or she had an emergency but there was no "be right with you ma'am...excuse me" - nothing. While I was waiting one gentleman was being helped by an employee and another employee (older man) was talking to them. He was well aware that I had been standing waiting and told me someone would help me soon. This older employee wasn't assisting anyone but he was talking to another customer and the man helping him. He then proceeds to step outside and greets a customer (male) as he enters the store. The other gentleman that worked there had also stepped outside to help his customer. When the employee (male) that wasn't helping anyone returns to the store he proceeds to assist the man that came in after me. Meanwhile I'm still standing waiting as the female associate is still doing something with her drawer. After he helps the man who entered the store after me, I approach him for assistance on the item needed that only the employees can pull. Prior to this, the lady who ran off to get change for her register is still back behind the desk area and another employee (female) had passed by me earlier and was chatting with her. "Stepping outside" is very popular this time of day for the staff apparently but not helping a 30 something year old African American female. Once I had to practically "beg" for some assistance (since my standing and waiting for 10 minutes didn't prove the obvious) the employee pulls up my requested part in the system and tells me the price and just pauses. Honestly, I was not worried about the price. I am already familiar with the price and wanted to purchase the part, so I tell him that I just need to know where it is so I can buy it. Well again, he has to pull it because it's kept in the section behind them, so he proceeds to...since the "price" wasn't an issue for me. (smh) In ALL of my past experiences at Auto Zones (Green Oaks in South Arlington & Hampton Rd in DeSoto) there have been helpful, sometimes even eager, associates. They also help me when needed in installing a simple car part or checking something under the hood, and won't accept a tip. In fact, there have been a couple who were happy to assist. I won't say every single visit but overall. During this experience, it was the opposite. My pride wouldn't let me ask the older associate for help after the poor service in the store so I asked the other gentleman (already outside who had just finished helping another male customer) if he could help me install my filter. Of course he couldn't or wouldn't. He said "he can't do cabin filters". I informed him that other Auto Zones had helped me do the same in the past, but let him know that that was fine and I would figure it out myself. Then he said how he could "try to take a look". I assured him it was ok and that I'm sure I could figure it out. Installing the the part is simple enough anyways, which is probably why most Auto Zones don't mind helping their customers (except the Matlock/Cooper store of course). I proceeded to log on to YouTube and changed my own filter in the parking lot as the male employees spoke to and assisting their male customers both inside and outside the store. It's not a big deal or inconvenience for me to change my filter. It was the poor and unfair customer service and lack of respect that I received during my time at that store. There is a brand new Advance Auto Parts AND an O'Reilly's within seconds of that store. I'd recommend you try either of those before stepping foot in the Matlock Auto Zone, especially if you're a minority, young or young-looking female. read more

Went here last night to get a side view mirror replacement. A nice guy helped me, I asked if I should just wait to buy the part. He gave me his personal opinion and experience about where to get my part painted and where the nearest junk yard is, just in case I wanted to save some money. Another guy, the manager interrupts and asks what was going on. He was very persistent with getting me to buy the side view mirror brand new and that I shouldn't waste time looking through the junk yard, because "...it's called JUNK for a reason". I was shocked at the way he handled himself. There is nothing wrong with a Pick and Pull. Especially if I was willing to go out there and save money, myself. I also didn't want to spend money on getting it painted so that's why i was willing to go to a Junk Yard. There are many Toyotas out there. He then tells me "Just buy the spray can from us. I know we have it." He then runs and comes back with the spray paint can. I was definitely not going to buy it anyway bc I don't trust myself with handling the paint on cars and I definitely did not want paint from a spray can. But he INSISTED. I told him if he really wanted me to buy it, and bc I don't trust myself, that once my part arrives, he should paint it using the spray can himself. Of course, he wasn't willing to. All he wanted was to SELL, SELL, SELL. I told him I'm a salesperson myself and that i see the way he's working. I really should have left and gone to a different store at this point, but I was a bit desperate. I went ahead and decided to buy the part. The manager then takes over and asks me details of my car (Toyota, Camry, 2008, powered side mirror without heating) he then scoffs and says "You got the basic model?" I told him I didn't pick nor did I pay for the car. I was not in the mood to deal with rude people, especially bc i work 2 jobs and had to work on Christmas night at a restaurant. I then asked him, "Since you're making fun of my car, what kind of car do you drive?" He responds, "hehe I own a few." I told him that he needed to chill out on his comments. Not sure why he was so prideful bc he's managing at an AutoZone........ Poor/rude customer service from the manager who needs to be a bit more humble. Would not be my preferred AutoZone, but if I had to come here again, I would not want to deal with this manager (young guy, dark curly hair, fair skinned). read more

THE manager did not wanna help me June 2 2019. I was looking for a key fob battery for my Acura and he did not wanna show me how to put in a battery for my key fob. ( never had to replace my battery so I don't know what it looks like ) I believe his name is Alex Store # 1536. Very unprofessional, my time is valuable I work 7 days a week. Sat this review out for a couple of days to provide a level headed review for a really bad experience. So I found what I was looking for (very organized), only customer as I walked to counter and the young male employee (name tag JEFFERS T) is at a far left register/comp sees me kind of rolls his eyes at me and then proceeds to look at screen and ignores me. I don't mind waiting and so I do but as another employee passes behind him she directs him to help me out. Kid literally rolls his eyes seems agitated and calls on me. Attitude continues and he asks if Im paying cash or credit I tell him cash and he sighs irritatingly and makes me feel like I am inconveniencing him. We go to the other register where he haphazardly puts my items in a bag hands them over to me and drops them on the counter before I get a chance to grab them. My items nearly fall out of the bag. As I wait for my change I see he's about to give $15 in 1s. I ask if he can give me a ten and he rolls his eyes at me stares me down and points at the register that it's out. Then he just walks away. This was a sad experience for me. I like autozone, how usually it's well-stocked, clean and convenient, but customer service can make or break you. Gonna stick to online purchases from now on....Was given way better service overseas during deployments....So sad! read more

after a near-mishap on Cooper nearby, I pulled into AutoZone after my tire sensor light started flashing. it'd never flashed before & upon learning my pressure gauge & air compressor were in my son's car (oops!), I asked if anyone could help me check the pressure. a little insight: I look able bodied but am far from, recovering from multiple major surgeries over the past 2 years. the store manager, Frank Workman, didn't hesitate to help. he grabbed a gauge & checked the pressure on all 4 tires for me. sweet! I've shopped this location only twice before. never met the guy. he had no idea how much of a damsel in distress I was, a position I don't particularly care to be in & am not used to. his help really took a load of stress off me & helped me feel safe enough to drive home & rest my weary body. service with a smile! read more

AutoZone, this location, was so convenient. It is located right on Cooper St., but with the traffic flow it wasn't the easiest to get to during the weekend. They have a huge parking lot so there aren't any issues there. I went in knowing exactly what I needed and with a friend, but the staff offered to help many times. Maybe because I'm a girl.. or maybe they just have great customer service. I needed a air filter and a cabin air filter. They have books to look up the exact part that you need through the store for things of this nature. I located the book and the part with ease. For those two products that I needed, they were the only ones on the shelf. So if someone came in after me, they either needed to let the staff know (in case there was more stock in the back) or they were sh*t out of luck. Also got some fuel injection treatment and will be back for windshield wipes and something else (when I remember). There were three (3) cashiers so it was a pretty quick trip. The only thing that perplexes me though, is that they have so many trashcans. We pull up and the first thing I notice is that there is practically a trash can for every front parking space there was in front of the building; totaling six (6). I know some people will do quick work in front of auto stores but six (6) trashcans in front of the store and none in the store was just so weird. read more

Don't know much about cars so was a bit intimidated going there to get help. The crew was friendly and helpful but most of all didn't make me feel like an idiot for not knowing what size engine my truck had. They checked my battery for free (was dead) , looked up my warranty ( still covered so got a new battery) and installed it. Could have been in and out without paying anything but still spent over $100 on stuff I needed because I'd saved on the battery and they were so helpful :P read more
