I needed a car battery and should have gone to the location in Oakland, CA on MacArthur Blvd., where I received exceptional customer service. Since I was in Antioch near Somersville area I decided to patronize this location. So sorry I did. I am unfortunately unemployed and am unable to take my car to the dealership. My battery died and had to purchase a car battery and went to the above mentioned location. I go and explain what I need. People in the customer service industry need to listen to the customer. I was asked twice the "year, make, and model of my car". Employer's should train their staff!!! It's like companies are hiring young people who don't care and have no compassion. Then I was told they were short-staffed and was unable to install the battery. The clerk asked if I wanted him to call another location. Frustrated, I decided to purchase the battery because I'd already been using a car battery jumper charger, however convenient, but still had to go under my hood to start my car. So I purchased and drove to my niece's home, figuring with the right tools, I can do this myself. Well, she didn't have all of the tools, which further added to my frustration. Come Monday, thank goodness, my sister was able to call AAA and they came and installed the battery. Truly "grateful" to them because they installed a product that wasn't theirs. So I go back to the above location to take the dead battery to receive credit and again, was told that they were short-staffed and could not retrieve the dead battery from my trunk. I put the old battery in a Walmart bag and carried the very heavy battery inside the store. I hope and pray I will no time in the future have to deal with this location. I was given a gift card to use as my credit instead of the cash I was promised. The staff at this location "sucks", horrible customer service. I pulled into AutoZone to buy a small pack of grease for battery nodes. I am halfway out of my car before a man who has been lingering at the front door yells to me a comment regarding my race, & then proceeds to tell me that I'm going to take him across the city bc he needs a ride. I push my way thru the front door & there is one other customer in the store. I approach one of the 2 clerks & inquire about battery node grease. He sheepishly tells me to "check the front shelves & kiosks" as he fumbles w brake grease that he has hanging at his register. The phone rings & he picks it up... immediately ignoring me as he begins to help some cretin on the phone. I shuffle around the store; there is no battery node grease. I know that it comes in a tiny packet & costs like $2... & can be found on Amazon, eBay, every garage & oil change shop, etc. There is none in this store. I walk back to the front & a 3rd employee appears from the back. She asks me if I need help & I tell her what I'm looking for. She goes under the counter & pulls out exactly what I need. She tells me that no one has stocked it. I hope she transfers to another AutoZone that looks less like a scene from Idiocracy. When I go to pay, the machine rejects my card 4 or 5 times (or... I was charged 4 or 5 times, who knows). I am told that my card is bad (maybe I am just broke & don't have any money?). Eventually we switch to a new register where my card works on the first run. Thankfully, when I got outside, my car had not been vandalized by the kind gent in need of a ride. What a relief I feel as I drive home. read more

my boyfriend was quoted about 115 for four brake pads when he called to see if they were in stock and when i (a girl) went in to get them they were trying to charge me 260!!! this is why as a girl i HATE coming to autozone trying to charge me over double i go because they're cheaper than oreillys now i either have to go to O'Reillys (which i never had a problem with sexism. and when my boyfriend calls to get quoted on a part and I go in to buy it it's the same price) or send in my bf to get parts unbelievable!!!! and this happens WITH EVERY AUTOZONE!!!! read more

By now I should've learned my lesson, yet I buy car parts from auto zone. They give me parts from different type of cars. I wouldn't have a problem with it if the parts did they're job and had no flaws. I've bought a window regulator that gets stuck when window is lowered, ac compressor with a lot of noise (coated completely in black paint), and was given a different type of fuel pump. For the fuel pump, I asked the employee if it was the right type for my car he said it was. The day I had to pick up the fuel pump I asked again but this time I asked the supervisor and said it was ok. Turns out it wasn't the same fuel pump. I ended up going to o reily and bought myself the exact fuel pump my car has $100 cheaper. For my compressor, I tried returning it being barely used. Supervisor takes a quick look and tells me "yea.. no, you can't return it." THATS EXACTLY HOW I RECEIVED IT.. completely clean coated in paint. I can't do anything about my regulator since it was a pain installing it. The cables even break off easily if i'm not careful. At the end I wasted a lot on gas, time, and energy. That would be my last purchase here. read more

Amazing customer service. My daughter and I had gotten a jump from roadside service, but I knew we needed a new battery. We were only 2 blocks from this AutoZone. I called and spoke with Justin and he told me that he would be happy to help us! Once we got the jump, we headed right over and found Justin. It was a rainy Sunday and I was so pleased with how quickly he was able to help us get a new battery and got us on our way. I would highly recommend this location! read more

I came into this autozone to get replacement wipers. The staff was very helpful and explained the differences, as I've never purchased wipers before. The gentleman who rang me up offered to install them, but I wanted to give it a go. After a few attempts he came outside to assist and instructed me instead of just doing it. I would say it's just ok here. The customer service is bad sometimes, good other times, and the really good but are shy of great because they go out of their way but can't find a solution like when they tried testing an alternator I brought in. I had to go to pep boys who did it easily. They seem to have a good variety of things considering how small it seems but actually it's a typical size auto zone here. When it gets busy, it sucks because I feel customer service becomes compromised. Other times, I'd be the next person in line but they take FOREVER with the customer who's before me. I feel this is a fair review based on the fact that I put in info from many different days that I was here to fix my car. read more

Wish I could remember the guy who helped me, he was great! I had my wiggly toddler with me and he made sure to keep it quick and without asking picked up my rotors, brake pads and opened the front door to carry them out for me so I could avoid the struggle of trying to grip a 2 year olds hand and carry it all across the parking lot. If you need to get anything from the store, you need to get there early because they start to get busy. One thing I love about the Autozone is when you ask for help like changing your window wipers or light bulb to your signal lights they will take the time to assist you I have only one complaint and that is when I bought a red tape which had some writings on it...I ask the worker there if it was the correct one to use for my tail lights because it had holes in it and I needed to cover it. Anyways, he said "Yes." Well, when I got home and was about to put it on the lights...I couldn't because of the writings. So, I had to go back and get the right one. I was not happy about that. He should have advise me correctly. Otherwise, I like how they help people who need it read more

Never in my life have I had such a bad experience. SIMONE P. was the employee's name and she was so rude I barely contained myself. She should not be working there because people like her prevent me from ever in my life walking into an Auto Zone again. She very clearly hates her job. The manager of this location needs to deal with her. I will be contacting corporate immediately after this post. First she was too lazy to look up and find the correct item I was looking for so I ended up going home with the wrong kit for my truck. I came back and she acted like she didn't know me even though I was literally just there. She asked what the item in front of us were and I told her I was just there to buy a break kit for my truck and this is what she gave me but it was the wrong one so I wanted to find the correct one. She then rolls her eyes, starts shaking her head, and in the most rude tone of voice says "I know, but what is this???". Then I respond with "I'm not sure, that is why I'm here, you sold this to me, you tell me." She once again rolls her eyes, shakes her head, and calls over her coworker to help me out because she "cant deal with it". I couldn't believe this lady was being so blatantly rude to me in front of her coworkers, manager, and other customers. I literally was in shock. Her coworker comes over smiling and shaking his head as if he is used to how ridiculous and terrible she is to customers. Within 5 minutes the young man found me the correct item I had been looking for originally and he saved me $50 while doing so. Simone P. needs a career change. read more
