WHO DOES THIS???? I recently went in to get a new battery. I was apprehensive to turn my car off in case they didn't have the right battery. I called the store and immediately this man named JOSE said not to worry and that he would come out to check my car. He came right out and was so kind and understanding. Said they did have the right battery and that he would install it. When he went to take out the old battery it was melded together to the terminal with corrosion. Jose took 30 MINUTES OR MORE to work on getting the terminal off. He even went back in and got some Wd40 to continue trying to get it off. He worked and worked and worked. He never gave up or suggested he couldn't do it. He did all of this while wearing his pristine grey Auto Zone long sleeve shirt and didn't get a single stain on it! I was so impressed not only with Jose's work ethic, but also by his cheerful attitude and the fact that he simply was determined to help me and not leave me or my car stranded without a battery. I am SO appreciative of Jose. This Auto Zone is kinda located in a basement area in San Clemente, so it might be easy to miss. But I will search it out again and again simply because of your employee, Jose! I did ask Jose who his boss was and wanted to make sure this message gets to Joe Peckett. If you can't find a Napa this place should be your third choice. This location has a few childish car enthusiast working there that like to show off there glass pack exhaust by flying their cars up and down the street at lunch or heading to and from work. Unfortunately they are too young to realize they are risking children's lives and their future . With children on e-bikes or just chasing a ball in the front yard I fear something terrible happening. I have been documenting with video and I have the Orange County sheriff involved. I hope AutoZone reads these reviews because this is very serious . read more

Worst experience I have ever had at an AutoZone! First of all, this place if full of teenagers who do not have any experience in customer service. I came here to exchange my car led lights that I bought the previous night because they didn't work. I called prior to make sure they had the lights I wanted, they confirmed. When I got there they did not have them, I assume they didn't check. The parking lot was full of teenagers which the employees were hanging out with. It felt more like a hang out spot than an auto shop. The employee Maxwell, for some reason started a return asking for my credit card and ID. I was questioning why he was doing all of this if I was going to leave to a different store for the exchange. He input the information with assistance from another employee and said it was a suspicious transaction and they couldn't help me. I asked for my items back so I could go to another autozone for the exchange, since they didn't have my item. By the time I got to the next store (in a rush to make it there before closing), I was informed by the employee that the other guys at San Clemente called them and told them not to provide me service. Wasted time, wasted gas, wasted money. Completely unprofessional experience. DO NOT GO HERE. read more

This is one of those places that isn't exactly wanting to help customers. Went in and the first person was on the phone told me it may be a bit cause they are short staffed. Finally a lady appeared after a while with a clipboard and helped me out but when it came time to buy the battery was told it would be another 10 or 15 minutes till someone could help cause the other guy was on phone still and another employee was out of the store. Said I should come back later. I went to O'Reilly a mile down and they were more than eager to help. Autozone seems allergic to helping customers. I'd go down the street. read more

Been to this Autozone before, and yes.... it's more of the same from these kinds of stores... They have what they have (nothing too high end, the value is pretty decent, and the guys have been nice to me on my three visits so far. Tonight I'm heading in to find some brake cleaner spray, a jack to lift the car, and one of those nifty garbage bags that are sealed and hang behind the passenger seat. Basic purchase... Let's see how it goes! -- ended up going to O'Reiley on Esterlla instead. Gotta say: glad I did! Much nicer crew and store overall than the older, not as friendly Autozone. My 97 Chevy Tahoe had a radiator issue back in August and Bruce was kind enough to help me by taking a few minutes to look under the hood of my car. I had had a recurring issue with a coolant leak and he found that the cap was very old and clearly needed replacing -- I had been to a mechanic and gone for oil changes many many times before and had yet to have been told so. When you come to auto zone cuz your axel snapped and they won't warranty it out cuz they are saying they cant due to the commercial account being in a different part of California but they validate warrants. Than you gotta have the head district manager to call down and tell them what's up and they try and act like they did you a favor when they wasted an hour of your time. My battery sign on my car lit up yesterday while driving and I brought it in today to get the battery and alternator scanned to see what needed to be replaced. Jonathan at the front helped me and went above and beyond with his customer service. He was so incredibly helpful and cool, gave me all the details of the reading of both my battery and alternator. It was my alternator that is going bad and he gave me shop recommendations for where to take it. We went inside and he showed me prices on the alternators and even caught a mobile mechanic leaving and linked me up with him to get my alternator fixed within the next few hours. Jonathan didn't have to do any of this but simply check my battery and tell me what it was but the whole time he gave me really great advice, insight, and customer service. This was the best experience I've had at an auto shop and next time I need something I'll be sure to be back at this autozone. Thanks Jonathan! read more

I am in my mid 70s, and my 16 year-old Saab had stopped running. Triple A came, told me that I needed a new battery -- BUT they had stopped carrying that battery. Thankfully, he managed to get engine started and suggested that I go to the local Autozone. I called beforehand and was delighted that they actually had a replacement battery to fit my old car. When I got to Autozone Kevin assisted me. He was very understanding when I mentioned that I didn't have a huge amount to spend; He found a great battery to fit my old car and he did the work himself. The battery did not want to be dislodged so Kevin got pretty dirty. Never once did he complain, and a very happy customer (ME) left a short time later. Thanks Kevin, you did a terrific job. I came here last night after my boyfriend mistakenly told me he could change my broken brake lights for me. Men, amirite? We had already bought the bulbs at a different location, but when we went to change them the pins didn't match up. The guys in the store verified that we had the right bulbs and then they both came out to help us change them. Turns out we were trying to change the turn signal bulb, not the brake light! Then he went ahead and just changed the bulb for me as well as screwed the lining back in! Awesome service! read more

Kelly and the guys at orielly auto run circles around around the staff here. I will admit the female that works there was great. Rude, pushy, and tried pushing me to buy the part I told him was wrong. Autozone has ordered the wrong part three times I have been back and forth for days. Avoid Autozone on El Camino Real in San Clemente. They screwed me on a battery for my Excursion. The battery was less than 3 years old but there was a delay between the time I turned the key and when the starter turned over. I went to O'Reilly Auto Parts in San Clemente, where I'll go for parts in the future. O'Reilly tested and said it was bad, so I asked to buy a battery. But, the O'Reilly guy saw that my battery was less than 36 months old, and told me I should take it to the original place of purchase, Autozone, as they owed me a full free replacement. So, I did. Autozone tested the battery on the car, and told me the battery was good but the alternator was bad, so they wouldn't replace the battery. So, I went to Shadetree Automotive. They checked everything out and said it was the battery. I went back to Autozone. They still refused. They told me their machine cost $2,000 so it must be correct. I took it to Courtesy Automotive in San Clemente (who treated me well and now I understand why they have 5 stars after 17 reviews) and Courtesy confirmed that the alternator is charging properly at 14.1 amps but the battery fails the load test at 8.9 volts under loan (minimum should be 10 volts). But, after having been to Autozone twice, I gave up on getting Autozone to honor the warranty and I just had Courtesy Automotive install a new battery. So, I spent a lot of money because Autozone refused to honor their warranty and claimed a bad battery was good. read more
