So, my boyfriend went here a couple days ago to buy a CV Boot for my Subaru Impreza L. Says a haole guy was helping him find the correct size for it. He told him that there was one for the RS and another different one. Right now, we are fixing it up. After we got everything off and decided to put the boot on, it was too big. So we called them up again to get some help. We got disconnected, so I called back and a local guy answered. Once we explained our situation, the guy found another one, only for an Outback and another different model. Told us it was $24.99. We bought a boot that was $12-$13. We asked why it was more expensive for the same brand, and the guy just started acting all smart and sarcastically said "I don't know, that's a good question." Honestly, poor customer service, they don't know how to use their computers, and just the way they talk to their customers are pretty wack. On top of it, they will not take the wrong part back and give me a refund. I don't know anyone who can take the part. I'm down more money because of the stupid workers. Everything is just poor. Today, I went to Autozone in Waipahu to get my $40 refund for my alternator that went out. My father went there yesterday to get the refund. But he didn't have my card to be refunded. So they took my old alternator and gave my dad a receipt saying we need to be refunded $40. The first associate who helped me wasn't sure what to do and asked me for my old alternator. I told him my father left it here yesterday but they couldn't do the full refund because he didn't have my card. They began looking for an alternator that is maybe in the back in an incomplete transaction. They could not find it. Luckily, Andrew S., the parts manager, was there. This place is brand new. I needed to change my oil so I went here to get the materials to do so. I knew the type of oil I needed but didn't know what filter. So I went in and forgot I needed to know the mileage so I walked back to my truck to look at it. Went into the store, wasn't busy at all. A gentleman approached me, asked me if I needed assistance. Told him I needed materials to change oil. He asked me if it was a Tacoma, (guess he saw me drive in or walk back, hehe) and then asked what year. Gave him my information and was kind to look everything up and asked what type of oil I would want to use. I'm no expert at all in cars so I always ask the expert. He suggested getting full synthetic. He then proceeded to get all the materials I needed. When he asked if that was all, I told him I needed the box to put the oil in and got it for me. I believe his name was Kainalu. He was efficient and kind, got everything I needed and didn't even stay in the store for more than 5 minutes. It was a quick and easy trip versus being torturous at another establishment waiting around until someone would ask me if I needed help. Even if he could've led me the way to get everything, Kainalu was kind enough to get everything for me and ring me up all in one transaction. I remember the last time I went somewhere else, they told me what to get and I got everything myself. Would come here again for any car help. Service is great! Establishment is beautiful! You ever realize how many car parts stores there are in Waipahu? This newest addition of Auto Zone makes 5 name brands... Weird. Anyways, I like this store because its newer and just appears to be nicer because of its newness. Also, the location is good for me at the intersection. Other than that, the staff is hit or miss. Sometimes you get the helpful ones who are happy to have a job, and then you get the ones who aren't motivated in life and make like you are an inconvenience to them. I do notice they have to work on their communication amongst their group. My husband had called to see if they had something and they did. It was the last one so he asked them to hold it until I could pick it up after work. He paid for it online and I went to go get it. He told me exactly what it was and who he talked to, but when I went there to pick it up, they couldn't find it. I spent like 10 mins with this guy trying to find my part and finally he said they must have sold it. I was so irritated at this point because the guy kept asking all his coworkers and no one knew where it was. There apparently wasn't a central "on hold" area and if there was, it wasn't being utilized. So after all this, I'm asking him how we do the refund since it was on my husbands card. So he asks this one female (I think shes a manager there) and she asks whats going on. He tell her the situation and shes like, "oh yeah. We put that order upstairs." What the heck man.... instead of spending 10 mins asking the workers around you and staring blankly at the screen, maybe you should have asked your manager DUDE. Sigh... Went in to get a replacement alternator I bought from autozone on 1/30/2022 since it crapped out on 2/11/2022. Went in and the person who helped me said they won't replace it since it has the nissan logo stamped and its not their brand. Went on their website to check and it shows the stamped nissan logo also which makes sense since when you buy an alternator there's a core charge and they send it to get rebuilt and goes back into circulation. Kinda stupid, What do you expect from a guy that works at a parts store. Had an excuse that since I bought it from another autozone store it's not covered on their store but on the receipt and website it clearly states that I can go to any autozone to get a replacement. Came here after work for some parts after work today and since it was a special non-oem application, I was happy that the parts guy who was helping me actually took the time to measure my part and went to the back area to physically see what waa the best match. Unfortunately, their computer ststem we,t down and I had to wait around for an extra 30 minutes to pay for my part. However, this was a technical issue that the employees had no control over and they were working frantically with the corporate office to resolve the issue. I was kind of bothered by some of the customers who came in, only to find out the point of sale system was down, resulting in them giving the workers some attitude. Thank goodness for this being here and recently built! I've been taking the bus even after getting a car because my car has been having problems. One of my busses actually stops right where AutoZone is and this is also where I transfer to my next one! The first time I went in was completely by coincidence. We went to AutoZone in Waipahu because the battery of our car was acting up. My husband was helped by Brian in diagnosing if the battery is still good. My husband mentioned that we got the battery from them and don't remember when. Brian told my husband not to worry. He asked my husband's phone number and was able to find out the date of purchased.
